BE AWARE THAT THERES A LIMIT OF 15 PEOPLE INSIDE THE STORE! basically you could be waiting for hours to go in. That being said I love this store very much. You can find all kinds of cute stuff and delicious snacks. Good prices on most things. The parking spots are small, though so just a heads up!

All the previous reviews are spot-on with this location. Lots of Japanese & Asian items, from glassware to travel items, small containers, bags, decor and PEN & Paper items. Cheap, inexpensive and cute things for your home or travel. Nice staff and fast checkout. They follow COVID protocols so you might wait outside until allowed in for capacity limits. Restocking always and so new items daily.

It was the grand opening so there was a long line of people purchasing items.Nice selection of stationary, various gadgets to make life easier, snacks, etc. Majority of the items were in Japanese but there were price conversion charts posted. Most items were $1.50 or more. Nothing to break the bank.Ill be back!

Not a lot of stuff here comparing to the ones in the Bay Area (SF). Sorry I’m just saying it from my personal experience. The staff are all friendly and polite tho. The place is clean, as other stores. Maybe they will have some more stuff come in after the pandemic? I’ll try them another time.

Not as well stocked as the ones in southern CA.Also they had a sign on their dish drying racks if bought as a set (rack and tray) you get a special price, when I came to the register I told the cashier about it as I saw they ringed each item at regular price. She called the manager who did not honor the advertised sale price, as she said someone made a mistake to put that sign up and took the sign off. No sense of customer care in this location. I have worked in retail for many years and she was supposed to take the sign off after honoring me the price advertised.Shame on this manager she needs to be retrained.

Such a fresh and neat store. You will find a little bit of everything to start a home. From kitchen supplies to emergency kits, gardening basics, dinnerware, office supplies, seasonal gifts, toys, organizers, or just munchies. Neatly organized, clear pricing, kind staff, and ample parking. Pricing is explained on each item or its $1.50 if no marked price. That said, prices are low for the unique novelty thing they have. Weekdays maybe best for exploring. I was brave, waited for about 30 minutes for my turn in line on a Sunday evening. Fun shopping experience, even with the wait. I left 1 hour before closing and the line outside was as long as earlier.

A smaller Daiso than ones you can find in Dallas or Houston, but their selection is decent. Be prepared to wait 2-3 hours in line outside if you go during the weekend. I came tonight and waited in line for an hour before I was able to go into the store. The management at this location is just down right terrible. I only saw the employee come out to inform customers of the progress ONCE. Once I was able to get into the store, i believed I had time before the 9 o clock closing time came. Apparently, I was wrong and was only informed the store closed at 8 when I was already in the store with 10 minutes to stop. IN ADDITION, In those ten minutes the employees continuously rushed shoppers to check out, “please take the customers waiting outside into consideration.” If you cared about those customers you would’ve went out to inform them that the store was closing instead of wasting their time and sitting around either ONLY stocking or ONLY waiting to check customers out. When I finished checking out, it was already closing time and many customers were waiting outside with NO idea that the store was already closed. They’d waited outside for more than half an hour. No employee came to tell them that the store was closing soon. A “hi we are closing in 30 minutes, whether you choose to wait or not is completely up to you,” would be nice.If there are 3 people paying and no longer shopping, take in 3 people so that there is no waiting gap. Don’t know if I will shop here again. This customer experience was terrible.

Removing my good review.Visited this store 4/10/21. Red hair employee Jessica was rude with me (she waited until I walked half the store then she ran to me and said that I have to leave the store because she didn’t counted the capacity correctly (somehow people who entered the store after me could stay), I exited and she called me back literally the second after without even apologizing. I don’t know where you found her but her job should be cleaning toilets at the underground (her voice and behavior perfectly suites that duty). The manager was not presented and obviously doesn’t care about Jessica’s rude behavior with the customers.I was supporting your business since your opening and Jessica was the first unpleasant experience. I’m not driving 2 hours one way to be treated like that. Houston locations are much more nicer.Jessica completely ruined my Austin visit this time. And of course, you lost my loyalty and business.

It’s a great idea to remember that we at Daiso are trying are hardest. We are trying our hardest to maintain the store and keep it nice for everybody. Unfortunately, when we get busy, it’s really difficult to go outside and remind everyone, as much as we would love to be out there telling everyone, we cannot leave the register with customers waiting to pay. We’ve had issues with someone changing our store’s hours via Google’s free editing. We are open from 10 AM - 8 PM EVERY DAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please, PLEASE call the store if you do not want to wait in line so that we can let you know what the wait looks like. We care about you—this is coming from an employee at Daiso—and we want you to have a good experience. We do ask patrons to be mindful of those outside for a reason, after all. We cannot limit shopping time, unfortunately, but we really do all we can to let as many people shop as possible. Please understand that COVID has been hard on everyone, and we really do care about you all. We just opened, and we’re trying our best to get settled in while also dealing with COVID and serving you all. Thank you.

This was my first visit to a Daiso store and I was definitely not disappointed! Although we waited in line for about 3 hours to get in the store, I felt it was worth the wait... not their fault about COVID and store occupancy kept to a minimum. They had so many different kinds of stuff to look at. I think I would say it is the Asian version of Dollar General. The quality of merchandise is definitely better than any dollar store. The store itself is cool but they are poorly prepared to deal with COVID regulations. Theres a minimum of 15 costumers at a time in the store, which seems way lower than the 25% recommendation. Furthermore, theres no time limit for costumers inside the store, thus creating long lines outside. Finally, the cashiers are greatly inefficient, showing absolutely no concern for the costumers waiting. I waited for almost 2h to be in the store for only 10 minutes.

Theyre doing a great job of managing covid when I went. Theyve got enough registers for people and a single line that winds for check out. They were pretty hit or miss on some things being stocked, but I think they were taking inventory when I went, especially because of the holiday season. If youve never been to a Daiso, theyre a lot like Five Below stores and some dollar stores. Not everything is a dollar mind you. Its basically like $1-5 for every item in the store.I especially love coming to Daiso specifically for their stationary. Theyre a really good place to get affordable stationary thats just as cute as whats in Kinokuniya. If youre looking for a cute way to wrap any gifts, they have a lot of cute and creative ways to gift wrap as well for sale. They have a lot of general items, like if youre looking for some general kitchen, travel, or school supplies they have a decent amount for sale. The store was very clean and they made sure everyone wore masks and distanced as much as possible. Be aware that theres not much parking in front of it. Some of the surrounding spaces in the front of the store are reserved for the stores next door. I have lived in Austin for over 10 years now, and back in California they used to have Daisos everywhere so I was accustomed to going. I waited 10 years for one to open in Austin and it is finally here! I have been to a lot of Daisos in my lifetime, including many of those in California, Texas as well as Canada. It was a nice experience overall. The staff made sure to keep capacity limited for everyone’s safety. I went early, not long after opening hour so I didn’t have to wait in line that long, maybe about 10 minutes. They provided hand sanitizer to us at the entrance.Overall the selection of home goods is decent as well as the drinks. There was not as much of variety in salty foods as I would have liked. I’m an artist and the stationery section was alright; I’ve seen Daisos with more stuff in those departments. Not very many art supplies however I already have a lot of things from other places so it wasn’t an issue for me. This Daiso seemed to lack paints; other stores I have been to have watercolors and such. A really good variety of fan designs though so if you’re into those, they have it. There is also a big cute sticker collection area. That was nice.I do wish they would have had more brush pens, however the selection of markers was surprisingly good. They had interesting different types in an okay variety of colors. There were a lot of ballpoint and gel pens to choose from as well as highlighters. The skincare and face mask section was a bit small among Daisos I have been to. Makeup section was not as big as some I have seen.Sweet snacks were available in a decent variety. Lots of Hi-Chew flavors though I can get those anywhere else in Austin too. The seasonal section is good and there are a lot of storage containers too.I enjoyed my experience there and ended up spending a good bit. They have good deals with buying Calpico and free stuff so look out for that if it’s still around. As a former origami enthusiast, their origami section was notably sizeable. A nice selection of papers. In addition there was a lack of cute erasers or an eraser section at all; I’ve been to Daiso stores with many erasers. I was surprised that there was a good amount of items for sewing and knitting. Washi tapes were there however the variety wasn’t super large and none of the designs stood out to me. A good amount of folders and organizers available. I was also pleasantly surprised at the utility items they had such as house painting supplies and things you might find in a garage.I liked shopping here. I spent maybe an hour inside just looking at everything. I would totally come back just to try more drinks. Otherwise I kind of bought everything I would have wanted or needed from Daiso in that one trip. I hope they open another location because I know every Daiso has different items. Hopefully in North Austin. There are also a good amount of Asian people/Asian culture lovers in that area so it would be reasonable.I would say, a standard Daiso shopping experience was had today. It was a clean store with an average-decent selection of goods. In summary, I hope to see more Daiso stores in Austin (probably one more is alright) and more skincare items, art/painting supplies including paint and paper and fine liners or ink pens, a larger variety of erasers, and more salty foods or snacks. There was a great selection of tea, sweet things, storage containers, fans, gift and goody bags, sticker packs and sheets, origami paper, ballpoint and gel pens. I hope this review helped anyone looking to shop at Daiso in Austin! It’s pretty fun.

A little underwhelming compared to the reviews and videos of other locations i saw online. Not much selection of fun things i wanted to buy and 1/3 of the store wasnt even completed/stocked.The line to check out wasnt clearly marked and the cashier didnt address me as i was waiting in line to usher me to the correct spot until i had been waiting for about 10 mins and then informed me i had been waiting in the wrong spot to be wrung up (and she was avail to ring me up the whole time). It was odd.The register area looked a little makeshift, the staff was present but didnt make themselves very available which was weird because they had so many people on shift. But overall they had cleaning protocols in place and enforced mask wearing so i felt safe when i was in the store so there was that. Its good for random knick knacks and maybe some cutesy stocking stuffers that dont cost a lot but not anything you cant really find at another dollar general.
