What a great experience I had being an out of state new customer purchasing a gift for my daughter in TX. Excellent advice from a very knowledgeable associate who made me feel like I was a long-time regular. She helped me pick out the perfect gift and went above and beyond to arrange delivery.

Always a pleasant shopping experience. I never leave without finding something I cant live without! They are a well stocked fiber shop with anything you could ask for. Need weaving supplies? They have them, along with knitting, crocheting, and a lovely assortment of buttons! Their staff is beyond knowledgeable and always courteous. I adore shopping here.

My wife loves this yarn store! It is not close to where we live but it is worth the drive for selection, price and staff. My wife likes the variety of yarns available and they have several local dyers as well as international yarns available. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is even husband hangout seating available where spouses can wait while their Darlin shops. The shop hosts a Zoom meeting on Thursday at 5 Austin time which kept my wife connected during the last year.

Awesome place. Just bring your checkbook. They do have a lovely bargain section though. Silk, cotton, linen, wool, alpaca, etc, etc. They have at all. They even have acrylic. Most of their customers knit but hey its yarn so you can really do anything with it. They have pattern books, they have looms, and they have some really fantastic lessons and knitting circles available too. Its a warm, loving, supportive, helpful environment. If you dont know how to stitch something, ask one of them and they will help you figure it out! And then you can sit there and work on it until you have it down. Trust me, Ive done it. Love these guys.

I wanted to learn to knit & the ladies at Hill Country Weavers set me up so well! The store was closed for in person shopping due to Covid, but that didnt stop them from getting me the materials I needed, gave me a free pattern to start with, & then sat outside with me (masks on) to help me get started on my project! Truly the best service Ive ever received. I 100% recommend them & I will definitely be back.

Such a friendly store! I was greeted right away. Theres plenty of Texas made yarn, and yarns from all over the country and world. The store is lovely and full. One thing I found awesome - there were shoppers of all ages in the store. Sometimes you only see mature shoppers in yarn stores. This store is amazing. Stop in when youre in the Austin area. You wont be disappointed!

I go to this store every time Im in Austin and Ive ordered from them online as well. Despite being in the hobby for years Im still an inexperienced knitter and crocheter, and theyre always happy to help me with any questions I have. The staff is incredibly helpful, even when theyre very busy theyll take the time to help you pick out yarn colors to make a gradient or to help you find something. I have never had a bad experience here, they foster a wonderful community in their lovely store.I only wish I could go more often! Thank you guys for all your help and the wonderful community you house!

I hit this shop right before my flight back home this weekend, where I have my usual little fancy knitting shop that I go to. They were by far the friendliest and most helpful of the several yarn places Ive visited. They have a large selection of yarn, and even told me I could always call and place an order if I needed anything, and they would ship it to me. From what I can see they also offer very reasonably priced classes. I loved it! I have friends in Austin who are knitters, and Im definitely recommending this place!

It’s the Austin flagship yarn store for a reason- a HUGE selection of both indie and commercial yarn. Also you really can’t bear the location right next to an excellent coffeeshop (with a taco truck)!

What an extraordinary yarn store! They recently moved to a location with more space, more light, more parking, and better access. Still in a charmingly restored old house. Looks like they will eventually also have outdoor space, under the huge live oak trees.

My wife was so excited to be in Austin and not only see that there was a yarn store, but there was a yarn crawl going on at the same time. The store was good and had some good selection of yarns, but there just isnt a lot of local yarns or alpaca farmers since it is Texas after all. They did carry major brands, however. One of the best comments was a lady who worked here and told my wife wow, you are from Portland? You can actually wear what you knit! Such a different mindset with the weather as it is here.

A regular knitting/crocheting paradise! If you are a fiber lover, be warned - you may actually get watery eyes walking into this place, lol! Any brand or color or fiber or weight of yarn you could imagine & then some!Staff was very friendly & helpful. Cant recall her name but one in particular let me jab excitedly about sock making.Theres a large table for lessons as well as a smaller table where a group of three people were working kn some nice things - great for ambience!Excited to go back soon!PS Kind of a neat side thing - they have a stuffed alpaca so kids can see where that fiber comes from!

We were visiting Austin for Quilt-Con with a couple of other quilters. Had a new knitter who was eager to start a project. The staff was very helpful, and even printed off a pattern from Ravelry for my friend to go with the yarn and needles she purchased. We plan on making this a regular stop when visiting Austin. Would suggest this place just for the eye candy alone!

I visit HCW on every visit to Austin. Be sure to allow enough time, as the selection of yarn is huge. One of my favorite things about this store is that they have lots of completed items on display that give me a good sense of how the yarns will look when made up. The samples are on point and timely, and of course very well done. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Last, but not least, the store is in a cool neighborhood with lots of funky shops. I like to make a day of it!

I was in Austin on vacation with my partner, my sister and brother-in-law, and I always try to check out a local yarn shop. We stopped by here to check it out, and the selection is incredible... Within minutes I had a bundle of different yarns, and did several passes to check everything out. I was however disappointed by the staff. Only one person said hi, and she seemed very nice, but everyone else who worked there seemed to be very suspicious of me and my family. I get that male knitters are in the minority, but nobody really stopped to ask what I was looking for, what I was knitting, etc. I have noticed this attitude at other stores, but was caught off guard by this one, especially since Austin is known for keeping it weird. Ahh well. I love the yarn, so I give them credit for the selection, but doubt I would ever come back.

This is directed at the stores owner: I really, really hope one of your employees doesn’t drive a black Hyundai sedan because that vehicle just rather rudely stole a parking spot from right under a very injured & very PTSD riddled combat veteran. After she clearly had her signal on for one of your spots up front. Is this how you & your clientele treat veterans ?!?! If that vehicles driver is one of your employees or regulars known vehicles you need to have a little chat with them about that. Also one of your your employees was just very snotty/rude to that same veteran. Both of these incidents happen around 10 ish. We are not amused or coming back.

I stopped by on a weekend in Austin and was floored by the selection - someone immediately greeted me when I walked in the door and helped me wind through the yarn labyrinth and was very helpful in selecting a spindle and fiber. Normally new LYSs are more intimidating but everyone here was very warm.
