My husband had his car serviced here awhile back. I want to write this review to warn anyone thinking of getting their car worked on here. We originally chose this shop because most of the reviews were 5 stars. Unfortunately, they were *dishonest* with us and actually caused damage to our car that we had to get fixed at another shop. After having our car for a few days, the workers at Oak Knoll told us they did all that they repaired the light that was coming on but that my husbands engine was on its way out. They said they didnt want their guys to touch it for fear that they might completely ruin the engine. It wasnt drivable at this time and they said our car was basically dead. We asked a lot of questions to understand why. We were puzzled that a mechanic would say he didnt want to work on our car anymore. We took it to Mobile Auto Clinic *HIGHLY RECCOMEND* around the corner for a second opinion and turns out our car was fine. Oak Knoll employees had actually CUT the wiring to the dash warning light that we needed fixed so that the light wouldnt turn on and show an alert. They did nothing further and then charged us for the repaired light issue. Mobile Auto Clinic repaired the damage Oak Knoll did and replaced all our engine oil and our car was back to running again and has been running ever since. Do yourself and your pocket book a favor by NOT going here and taking your car just a few blocks away to Mobile Auto Clinic.lUpdate to respond to the ships comment:My husband has a different last name and we serviced the car under his name. This is why you cannot find the history.
Honest mechanics at a decent price are hard to find. Called me up and found the problem instantly including my misdiagnosis, and charged me out for the correct diagnosis which was the cheaper option. That is a rare transaction indeed. Went on a friends recommendation, and now Im passing it along. First time using them, but I would go back in an instant. Dont trust JiffyLube. Its a long story but Oak Knoll set me straight, with honest estimates on time and money.
My neice who is 20 yrs old and knows nothing about vehicles came to you for assistance because her car wasnt turning over sometimes. Your technician evaluated it and determined she needed a new battery. You charged her $191.85 for a new battery and labor (which wouldnt of taken more than 5 minutes to install a battery) I feel.like that was high and the technician may have taken advantage of her.
This is the best place to get your cars, trucks, etc services. Bobby and his guys are the best. They stand behind their work, they are always right on with estimates, work is completed quickly, and they are HONEST.
The Mechanices here are great very very skilled and honest mechanics! As for the owner while i can appreciate his very attentive nature. It was his initial diagnosis I did not appreciate, all of the up selling he tried, what I got done for 80$ somewhere else.He told me I would need over 300 dollars in work. For this reason I triple check with others shops. Service and car work all fantastic as for the up selling thats a big no for me in the Auto industry.
The only place my husband and I will take our vehicles to be worked on. Great service at a fair price!!
Worst experience Ive ever had..blew freeze plug during the winter storm ok..we have to pull transmission to get to freeze plug and its $850..later they said $650 and we just unbolted one side of transmission a d replace freeze plug.. ok..now they said truck runs rough and vibrating..it didnt do that when I started truck and backed it in for towing service to pick up and take to oak knoll..they claimed it was an engine problem...bs..another mechanic said when they tweaked the transmission they broke the other side mount..my truck is a limited edition and finding another mount has been a nightmare..after market dosent fit bolt pattern..and I only had 1 bolt holding driveshaft in place...theyve cost me more out of pocket money replacing mount and driveshaft yoke than what I paid them do do the job correctly in first place...I will never do business with them again..beware!!!..theyre reply is not in system...bull!!! Ive spent over 2grand there..they dont want to fess up and would rather cover it up....they wrong!!!
Got a split in my Radiator, limped it here and just with a walk in and pretty full garage, I got back on the road in good time. Fair pricing, and doesnt charge any more than necessary!
Great shop to get work done on your vehicle. AJ is outstanding and works in a timely manner. Havent been displeased yet.
What a great experience. Came in this morning with my check engine light on and picked it up later in the afternoon good as new. The prices were fair, and theyre an honest bunch. Bobby took the time to explain everything to me and was patient when I asked questions. Will definitely be coming back when I need more work done on my car.
These guys are super. Honest, fair, skilled. I would not take my car anywhere else. They are one of those rare finds
Great service! I can most definitely recommend this place! My car needed a whole bunch of repairs and Bobby was very friendly and transparent! I thought the pricing was good and all repairs were completed within a day. Not only does my car run like it is brand new, I also discovered that my gas tank was full when I picked it up (free of charge)! Thank you so much!
Reliable and honest. Had numerous work done on both vehicles.
Being a single woman, it always makes me nervous to go into a car repair place because I have had bad experiences of being made to feel like I dont know what I am talking about or I am taken advantage of. When I called the NW Ben White location, I spoke with Bobby and he was very pleasant and told me to bring it on in. When I got there, Bobby greeted me at the counter and we talked over what my concerns were and he listened to me. I live close so I left my car and walked home. He called me to tell me what they found and how much it would be. After agreeing on what they would do he called me back when they were done and I walked back to get my car. It was ready and waiting and Bobby talked over what they did and showed me on a diagram what they did. He walked me out to my car and showed me what I needed to look for on my brake rotors. ( I had me rear brakes replaced) He was kind and professional and even shook my hand. The price was reasonable, the work was great and the people professional. I feel safe bringing my car back here for repairs and oil changes! That is rare in todays world! Thank you Bobby and your team at Ben White Automotive!! It was a great experience!
I dread going to an auto repair shop when something is wrong with my car. The experience with Oak Knoll Automotive absolutely changed my mind and stress level. Everyone we spoke with were nice, didnt talk down to me and quick to find the problem and repair it. Thanks so much.
This is a business you can trust. Very straightforward and they treat you well. After almost getting screwed big time by the dealership, Oak Knoll restored by faith in humanity. 10/10 would do again.
I’ve been taking my car here for years. Bobby and his team always remember me and go the extra mile (like filling up my low fluids on the house). They’ve had a challenge with my 20-year-old Chrysler, but they’ve never disappointed me. I trust them.
Ive been here several times and find them to be a great shop! They are fair in their pricing, call you to keep you abreast of what is happening with the repair and finish the work in a timely manner. I have no worries when I take my car here!
Always professional and very knowledgeable, by far best honest and friendly in austin. Great turn around times!! Highly recommended!!
Oak Knoll Automotive is by far the most efficient and affordable mechanic I have ever utilized. They have come in clutch for me twice now, and at more than a reasonable price. Definitely recommend Bobby and and his guys for any car needs.
We bought a used decade-old Tundra from my cousin who bought it at auction... so basically we knew nothing about the previous owners and whether they even changed the oil!. We took the truck to Ben White Automotive for issues with a tire and decided to get everything checked out. They were very patient and thorough, taking the time to answer all my questions. They basically gave me a crash course in truck maintenance. We ended up getting the cooling system replaced. They gave us an estimate but lowered it after they discovered that all the parts did not need to be replaced, and they also completed the repairs in the estimated time. I value their honesty and expertise. I will definitely take our truck again whenever there is an issue.
Bobby at Oak Knoll Automotive was professional, honest, and provided excellent advice for my work that needed to be done on my Ford Escape. I had a quote from the Ford dealership to repair my suspension - my CV axle needed to be replaced, chain inlinks needed to be replaced, and my rear shocks were on the brink of needing to be replaced. The dealership jerked me around and quoted the work at nearly $3000, which included 12+ hours of labor. When I brought my car to Oak Knoll, Bobby was able to get my car looked at by the mechanic in a timely fashion, and provide a much more reasonable estimate for the work - approximately $1400, including labor. My car was repaired by the following day and Bobby called me and updated me every step of the way. I will absolutely be bringing my car back for any necessary maintenance in the near future and would recommend Oak Knoll Automotive to anyone!
Let me just say that Bobby and his crew EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS in a great way. I was raised by a mechanical genius and have worked on my own cars and bikes for decades. I took OKA a huge challenge with an electrical issue that had perplexed me, other mechanic buddies and at least one dealership more than once. It took some time and risk and frustration, but they got it done. First rate, fairly priced work by HONEST GUYS! You could not ask for better.
Family owned...reasonsibily priced on almost every day services and repairs .So for those of you that price check the occasional vehile servicingnecessity, give them a call you might be pleasantly surprised.
I had an awesome experience with the service at Ben White Automotive, their professionalism and friendly shop atmosphere, made it so easy to get what service I needed done on my vehicle. From my first contact on the phone to when I actually took the car in for the work, Keith was very attentive to my service requests, asking follow up questions to make sure he understood what I wanted, even making helpful recommendations and suggestions of what work (I thought) I needed and did not need. For instance his suggestion of using all synthetic lubricates and explaining the advantages (with no sales pressure) really made a difference in the way my 10 year old vehicle performs, my gas mileage actually increased about 2-3miles per gallon. As they performed inspections they found that the rear brakes were in need of replacement however the front were worn but still had safe wear left. They kept me well informed; those guys at Ben White Automotive know what they’re doing and really care; I will be back. Thank you all.
Scam. Shame. Disgrace. BE CAREFUL and DO NOT leave your car out of your sight. I made that mistake, for only less than 5 minutes, and all of the sudden some part became inoperable, car would not move, and I did not even come for that issue at all. Everything was ok until he pulled my car into his shop, opened a hood, although no issues of any kind under the hood. Owner started to argue with me, and asked me to leave and not to come back anymore if I think he messed something up. 100% he unpluged the cable so my car would not move out of blue, although no issue like that in 5 years while owning the car. They charged me $70 to fix the issue that Ive never had in the first place. Not coming back, even if I would have to take the bus or walk. What a shame.
Bob knows his stuff! Highly recommend. Efficent and fast!
Bobby is a great guy who provides great service and support. His mechanic team is knowledgeable and fair. Next time your car has issues, trust Oak Knoll Auto for your mechanic shop.
Very friendly and informative. They are very quick to address issues, as well as, getting your vehicle back in working shape! Will be going to Oak Knoll Automotive from now on.
Final price was exactly what I was told, car was done when they said it would be. Have had no problems with the repairs so far (2 weeks). Seemed like a well run, organized business - highly recommended.
Fair pricing, quick, friendly and honest!
Charged twice what should have been charged for a problem that has now been going on since March. Went to a new place that is much more trustworthy and it is still the same part paid for already. But yet their price was still half price to completely fix, so easier that than trying to warranty/guaranty with Ben White. Very unhappy!!!
A truly class-act business and my go-to shop for all auto repairs. Theyre honest, fair & stand behind their work. The mechanics have always been happy to answer any questions Ive had, and have never had any issues with the work completed.I recently went to a local Mazda dealership for an oil change, and they recommended that I have my brake pads replaced. I later dropped my car off at Oak Knoll to have the pads replaced, along with a few filters & fluids. When I came back a few hours later, the Oak Knoll mechanic showed me how much pad was left on all 4 of my old brake pads, and informed me there was no actual reason to replace them yet. Thus, instead of charging me for a dealer-recommended service that I did not need, they graciously offered sound advice & permanently earned my all automotive repair & maintenance business. Give them a shot to earn yours!
Extremely friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. HIGHLY recomend them!
Best experience I could have hoped for. They helped above and beyond what I had expected when I called on a Saturday only one hour before closing.A few days earlier, I had my front end aligned at a different place called NTB. They suggested that I should replace my rack and pinion because it leaked and I left there with an estimate of close to $ 1000.- plus 2 recommended new tires.A day later my car was making some rattling noises which is why I called Ben White to have them take a look to see what else might be wrong. Two of the mechanics each took the car on a test drive to make sure the noise wasnt indicating an emergency. Then they hoisted it up in the garage and took a close look. They explained that the recent cold spell can sometimes create some noise because the seals of the bushings condense. They put some grease on all the bushings, and reassured me that there is no emergency but if I wanted to come back on a warmer day they would gladly have another look. Then I asked about the leak the other place talked about. So, again, they took another look under the car. They were positive that it did not need to be replaced. They also found my tires to be in good shape. All in all they thought my car was in excellent shape especially for being 11 years old and that at that age a few little noises and scratches are not necessarily cause for panic. If I had trusted the other place I would have spent about $ 1500 on my car. But at Ben White I didnt even get charged for all that help and attention they gave me without a single suggestion of work being done that wasnt necessary.Of course, I might have gotten bad news if something was seriously wrong, I was lucky. But they were honest, experienced, and incredibly helpful even without the opportunity to solicit business.
Great service. Honest and UpFront.
These guys are AWESOME! I recommend talking to Bobby over there... nice, honest person. My 2015 Jeep needed a new headlight. I was initially going to take it to dealership but found out the warranty was out. They said it would be around $375 b/c newer cars make it hard to get those headlights out, and it would take the better part of the day to do the labor + that particular headlight was $150ish. Bobby got into that headlight no problem and said it was a different headlight that was out (not the expensive one), so the total was $95! Woo hoo! And they took my car next door to the inspection place, so I didnt have to take that extra step with my toddlers in tow.My family will be using these guys from now on!
NORTH ben white is suck . they gave me good service before but the workers might be changed. they did not nice anymore and even i used to go there several time when my car has some problem, they did not give some any discount and treat badly. Also they charged extremely expensive for auto parts fee. i search online the part fee. it just $70to 80 but they charged over 100. i really regret to go there. i will not go there anymore. if you want to throw the money, go there but if you fine some store where give good service and charge as reasonable price, find others store.
A very good place for repairs. I have a 16 year old Q45 (I really like the car) that needed strut work and had a bad oil leak. Jeremy was able to get the parts (difficult for that car) and I had it back the next day. I will go back.
Bobby and his staff always go out of their way to help. Fair prices and great work!
Its under new ownership and is now called Oak Knoll Automotive. Its the small ironies in life:I had entered a review for a past experience and gave them 1 star.Ive done business with the oil change business, Valvoline Express Care, which is located next to the auto repair shop.I was due for a oil change, when my check engine light came on and the oil gauge was reading maximum oil pressure. The oil change folks connected up the diagnostics and determined the oil sensor gauge was out. They couldnt do the repair, but suggested the auto repair next door. I informed them of my previous experience, when they informed me it was under new ownership.I spoke with them and decided I would give them a chance.Initially the owner had stepped out, so I spoke with two employees. They were very nice and put the vehicle on their diagnostics and concluded the same. Once the owner returned, we discussed it and he explained the process and expense breakdown.Once I picked up the vehicle, they had actually saved some money by not having to do some other work to get to the part. (The procedure required removal of another part, requiring replacement of a gasket to access the part needing to be replace. The person doing the work was able to get to it, thereby saving time and cost.)I will do business with them again.original review (1 star):Never do business again with these dishonest people. (This was the review for the original company, Ben White Automotive.)
Honest guys which is hard to find these days
I came to BWA after seeing the $29.99 oil & filter change on Google Offers. First off, it was incredibly easy and convenient to set up an appointment online to come in. Upon doing so I got a confirmation email promptly. This location is less than 5 minutes from where I live so I decided to just hang around for the oil change. Tomas assisted us when we first walked in and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He remembered that I booked online and offered the $10 upgrade from conventional to synthetic oil. He explained that it would last me an additional 2000 miles, but did not push, simply offered and informed. We were in the shop for all of 35 minutes (enjoying the complimentary Keurig coffee!) when my car was done. They let me know the general observations of the car and if there were any issues, but again nothing pushy. My check engine light was on and he told me when I wanted to bring it back in and have them check it out I was more than welcome to do so and wrapped up with a charge of $39.99. Not a penny over what was stated, which was great to know that what your told is truly what you get. He gave us some complimentary koozies (and who doesnt love those) as we headed out the door. I was extremely pleased with the service, environment, and hospitality and there is no doubt in my mind that this will be my go-to place in the future!
Ive been taking our cars to these guys for several years now, and I am very happy with them.
My experience was very pleasant.Mike was extremly helpful in getting us estimates for all the repairs needed.I will definatly be recommending them to my friends.
This team treats you right. After the nearby Toyota Dealership tried to stick it to me I took my 2004 Tundra to Ben White Automotive to have the issues diagnosed and all worked performed for a fraction of the cost. The Dealership told me I needed a new rear end because it was going out and a new passenger side catalytic converter per the engine light code. The Dealership quoted me $3500 for the rear end and $1800 for the catalytic converter, PLUS Labor. I took it to Ben White and they put it up on their rack and diagnosed the rear end issue to only needing a new right rear wheel bearing. And as for the catalytic converter they inquired how long it had been since my plugs had been changed and recommended just doing an injector cleaner to burn out everything and replace the plugs back to OEM NGK plugs. After all was said and done I was out of there in one day for a fraction of the cost and I mean a fraction of the cost.Thank you BJ and to all of your team. I will be a repeat customer and have already referred others to you. It is nice to know some businesses still operate honestly and have integrity.Thank you,Anthony Michetich
Took in my 12 year old truck for a tune-up back in 2012, and after the guys at Ben White Automotive-North (BWAN) did their magic, it ran like the day I bought it new.BWAN also replaced the clutch and water pump with no problems afterwards.BWAN is a rock solid automotive repair shop, with great customer service.
My 2001 Ford Escape had been broken down for a number of months, sitting in our driveway. My wife had previously taken the car to BWA South and had a great experience, so when I drove by a BWA North (we had moved by that time), I decided to give them a call.Jeremy was extremely pleasant and informative, and when my auto insurer Geico told me I didnt qualify for a tow using my Road Side Assistance, he helped me locate a respectable and reasonable tow company. The next morning, BWA (Jeremy) answered the phone promptly at 8:00 a.m. when they opened, and he assured me that my tow would be done correctly and promptly. Now this is an important point because my car was parked facing forward (like most people do), but Jeremy asked all of the right question and knew something important that I did not---I need a flatbed tow truck. BWA had the car by about 10:00 a.m. or even sooner. All of this took place, by the way, while I was at work.Jeremy had promised once they got the car that they could get it out in the same day. I was skeptical to be honest, although we both thought we knew what the problem was based on how it presented itself (i.e., fuel pump). But when BWA got the car, they quickly discovered the problem was not the fuel pump. It was something much cheaper, and they were honest about it. The other problem was that the issue turned out to be difficult to trace down because my Escape was not throwing a code, and even though Jeremy had a tight schedule and performing diagnostics on my car was taking much longer than anyone anticipated, they found the problem that day and fixed it.As I said, the part for the car was much cheaper than the part we expected to be replaced. I was also worried because, based on some arm chair research, I discovered that a lot of people on the Internet had complained about replacing that part (many times), and others, but never permanently solving the root cause of the problem with the car---it would intermittently not crank.Since BWA gave me my car back, it has been purring like a kitten. These mechanics are professional, thorough, honest, and prompt. What else can you ask for in any service?
Very expensive place. The manager would argue with you.I came to this place based on user rating..but its overrated.
Customer took my car to them for pre purchase vehicle, they charge him to tell him Airbag lights is on (which he saw it) but they will not tell you whats wrong with it same with check engine light and abs light so they look at the cluster dash and tell you what 10 years old kid can tell you and they charge you or you have to pay more to diagnose the problem.
They had a challenge finding what was wrong with my horn, but found a fix in the end. Very friendly staff.
Misunderstanding and charge for rotating a tire when that is not what was told to my husband. Rude and money suckers, do not take your car here. Will be calling to speak to management for refund.
