Amazing coffee shop! Customer service was great! The staff was really friendly and helpful. I got a cinnamon muffin ( I think thats what it was called) and a truffle mocha. The BEST mocha Ive ever had! Very smooth and packed with flavor. They have street parking and there is also a lot across the street. We were visiting from NY and Im so glad we stopped. Wish we had a place like this nearby!
Its a nice, quaint coffee shop. Came in on a Sunday morning & ordered coffee and tried some of the food. The grilled cheese and chicken pesto sandwich were really good. Fresh. The coffee was refreshing as well, and had good, robust flavor. Well definitely come back here in the future to try more
Very cute, lovely staff, welcoming environment, great coffee. this cafe is the epitome of what it means to be a local coffee shop. not only does it support the community by offering a safe space for all people, it also offers printing services, a place to buy from and support local creators, and provides a diverse menu at affordable prices. if you are looking for a local black-owned business to support, Urban Grind has my vote. i will definitely be returning. best of luck and all my love.
I really enjoyed the aesthetic of this cute and comfortable coffee shop. The small touches like the hand written menu and the multiple options made me feel like it was unique and authentic.I saw that they had multiple open mic nights of differing styles which I hope to go to and experience. As for the coffee, I had a sweet iced latte (white chocolate raspberry mocha) and my partner had their coffee of the day which was a light roast. My drink could have used much more ice and a lighter hang on the syrups, but was still pleasant. The light roast was bright and floral, but a bit lacking in flavor profile. We ended up switching our drinks because I much prefer the light roast style. The inside was also EXTREMELY warm, almost stuffy. Even though it was 85 and sunny, it was more comfortable outside. Definitely would have liked the place more if there was a comfortable temperature.
Very friendly and unique coffee shop! We paid for very cheap parking across the street and once we ordered, we had our coffee within minutes. The banana nut and cinnamon streusel muffins were enormous and delicious. We sat for a couple hours and worked on our computers. The background noise was perfect for getting a little work done.
This is a really nice coffee shop! The atmosphere was great and the coffee was really good. I ordered a lavender latte with almond milk. I am impressed and would return. Great place for a meeting or lunch date.
Love this place.Pros:Great coffee and pastriesCons:Wait time is endless.Advise… For ppl wanting basic coffee serve them ASAP. This way the line move faster and wait time shrinks.Mobile orders would be perfect. On way there now lol.
This is Black Owned and I love it!! I’m so glad I finally got a chance to support the owner and meet her. She was so and helpful. I will definitely be back to support her and spread the word!It has a chill and cozy vibe to it. There are places to sit inside and even outside to enjoy the scenery. They have free wifi and great customer service.I had a Iced Caramel Macchiato and was very delicious. So many are other options you can choose from tea, frappe, coffee, espresso, latte and even food options. There is free limited parking on the farther right side of the stores but if you want to park in the front it’s not free. There is a meter but not sure the cost.
The cold brew was good, but the most impressive part of this shop were the muffins! Let me tell you, when I first took a bite I nearly had to pull my car over it was that freaking good! Hands down one of the best muffins I’ve had in my life. I had the cinnamon one, but I’d bet the others are on the same level. Definitely recommend!
I live in the apartment complex right next to the shop and have been coming here about 1-2 times a month, sometimes more, for the past few months. It’s a great spot. The people are always super friendly and the music is great. The baked goods and sandwiches are 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 I also love the new outdoor seating!A few feedback points — 1) I often struggle with wifi connectivity here. I’ll be able to get on, but have many drops in wifi throughout my sit. 2) I don’t know if the coffee lids have changed recently...but they don’t really click or stay fastened. I’m not doing any extreme activity with them, but I’ll often have spills in the car because the lid barely stays on. 3) The espresso tastes burnt sometimes? To be honest, as long as it’s coffee/espresso, I’ll consume it, burnt or not. But yea, I love this shop for its vibes and foods, and want to also love it for its coffee.
The best caramel macchiato I have ever had the honor and privilege of tasting. Singlehandedly cured my depression and gave me a will to live. A true gift from the gods themselves, eternally grateful.
Awesome. They got some high powered stuff there.
First, my drink was absolutely divine! The gentleman behind the counter put so much care into it. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered it twice! Second, you won’t find people much friendlier. I wish I lived closer to this place and I absolutely cannot recommend enough. This was a wonderful experience all together.
Urban grind is so delightful! The atmosphere is artistic and thoughtful and inspiring. I love there chicken pesto sandwich. I also love Urbans poetry nights and the games and art. 10/10 recommend
I came here to a spoken word open mic night (THURSDAYs) to share my autobiographical poetry for the first time in my life. It was scary and a big step of courage for me. I had been writing poetry for two years already and never shared it at an open mic. It was mysterious for me, which caused much fear.WHAT OPEN MIC NIGHT IS LIKEYou walk in. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. You pay $5 and get a cozy couch seat. You go buy some tea or coffee and a salmon panini (the most famous dish there, it’s really good!). You relax and wait for the hostess. The hostess arrives with a smile. You sign up for the performance list. You’re called. You perform. Everyone applauds and cheers you up. Congratulations! You did it!!!! Your poem has been shared with the world!!! Yaaay!WHERE TO PARKThere’s free parking behind the building facing an apartment complex. It’s safe and there place available always.WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU COME INRelax. Get your seat. Order food. Ask for the sign up list or wait for the hostess to offer it to you. Film your performance for your YouTube channel - they allow filming.WHAT TO EATAll food is good here. Cassandra, the owner, has a full-time job as a senior marketer and URBAN GRIND is her passion. So, the food is good because this is like her home. It’s a family atmosphere. Very safe, welcoming, and chill. The most famous food is a salmon panini. They have a large selection of delicious teas. I had tea there. They serve it in a large pot with honey. I recommend a pot of hot tea for the night!HOW MUCH IS OPEN MIC NIGHT$5 is admission. Plus your food and drinks. Typically, poets sell stuff there too, so bring some cash in case you’d like to buy something you like. I bought a book by Willis Writer there called The Hard Copy.SUMMARYAfter my Furst time, I came back week after week after week. I am still freaking out to share my poetry, but it’s a good chance to practice courage to conquer fear.Urban Grind Atl is an awesome place to share your spoken word poetry at an open mic night on Thursdays and to hear others share.Great food, delicious tea, friendly people, and excellent service.Comfy couches. Great DJ.What else can I ask for? They are the best place to go in Atlanta!I hope this was helpful. Have a wonderful time there if you decide to visit. Thanks for reading.
Such a cute shop! the employee in the spelman sweatshirt was the sweetest! they helped me pick out my drink, they recommended the vanilla latte and it was so delicious! I will definitely be coming back! Thank You!
Great place, chill atmosphere and kind staff. Very good coffeehouse
Food and service was awesome! Cute little shop and black owned which is a plus!
It was nice little cosy place.
Stopped in for a quick drink and dessert. Ordered an iced mocha, it was delicious. The cashier/barista was very nice and the drink was made very fast. I also ordered a slice of the orange poppy loaf, the loaf was fine, a tad bit dense but not bad.I wish i would have stayed longer because of how cute the place is. Will definitely be returning!Street parking is pretty much the only option.
This is the best coffee shop that i have ever been too. They really set the bar high. I had this tea made from chamomile, wild berry, and lemon grass and it was amazing. It was so cute in there too. I wish I could’ve had more time to sit and bring my book and work. I’ll definitely be back my next visit.
I have more than a few things to rave about with Urban Grind and why it is my favorite café in Atlanta alongside Dancing Goats and Inman Perk.• Urban Grind has the best chai latte and mocha Ive ever had. Plus they have oat milk!• Usually Im slightly suspicious of food made at small cafés (mostly because at Starbucks I had one experience where I was given a cold sandwich that they were heating from frozen and they didnt heat it up all the way, and after that, I was like Never again!) but Urban Grinds chicken pesto panini is amazing and flavorful.• The comfortable and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for getting work done.• One thing I appreciate about Urban Grind is that they have been abiding by COVID safety guidelines very well and it is a visibly clean/sanitized space with limited seating capacity.
Love this place. Black Owned Coffee shop. The people are always nice and courteous.
Get the White Raspberry Mocha. Love it.
I love this place! The food is DELICIOUS, the set up is BEAUTIFUL, and customer service is great too... I’m a vegetarian and I LOVE their Veggie Burger. I’ve never had anything like it. So good. Their teas are great also. My favorites are the Wildberry tea and the Chamomile Tea. Definitely recommend
The customer service is excellent! I had a chocolate muffin that put me in heavenly place! No lie! It was that good! One of my new favorite spots!!
Good Coffee, great staff, keep it local, keep it black owned ✊🏾
This place is so bomb! Great customer service and layout. Definitely recommend because the vibe is awesome! And its black owned 🥰
Try the caramel macchiato, so good!!!
This coffee shop has a nice laid back atmosphere. Its cozy, art on the walls, Free wifi, & great customer service. Seating is very comfortable too. Kinda reminds me of the coffee shop on the tv show Friends...Plus my White Mocha was made perfectly & its not as expensive as Starbucks...Ill definitely be going back!
They were out of caramel for one of their signature drinks, they didnt have skim milk, & I didnt receive the requested whipped cream on my drink. That being said, the drink that I received was good & the place is in a cute little area, so sitting outside on the patio offers nice people watching. I would give them another try, hopefully they would be fully stocked at that time.
Great little coffee shop, great price and they had some tasty tasty muffins. Will stop in again 🤘
One of my favs
Got sooo much work done here. Delicious coffee and chill atmosphere.
Great atmosphere, food, and drinks (me tea, hubby coffee).
So I live in NJ. I visited Atlanta a month ago. I visited 3 coffee shops for chai lattes while in ATL. THIS was the best one. I even came back to NJ, home of coffee shops, and STILL can’t find a chai latte as tasty! Seriously.
The Most Consistent Coffee Est. on the West Side of Atlanta. Great Coffee, Food and Folks!!! Keep up the GREAT work, the community GREATLY appreciates you!!!!!
Totally love the atmosphere. Its very chill and inviting. Ill come back with some friends later and represent the awesome staff. 💯
Sooo dope! Loved the vibe. Helpful staff. Black owned. Cool people!
The vibe is amazing. I come here at least twice a week to study for nursing school, and the food and coffee is on point. Honorable mention to the barista CORNELIUS aka Pisces, any time he’s at work I know the everything will be on point!I usually get the caramel macchiato latte w/oat milk. The pesto chicken panini busts too!
It was a decent spot to have a quick meeting. I loved their sweet potato cake. I was deliciously moist
I love the vibe. Good coffee, food, and great service.
I met my son here for a quick check-in...Just to make sure was OK...He seems to be...mostly...
Almost dont want to write this because I want to keep it to myself. But, have to share. This place has tons of charm and whimsy with its colorful decor of rich tones and comfy couches. While the couches are definitely a little gently used, making getting up and down a little fun. There are plenty of other searing options. The staff is friendly and engaging. Theres a library of books to choose from and of course ample space to seat and plug into work if youre looking for a place to work away from home.
Black ownedGreat lattes
Black owned 🤗🙌🏾💖 and delicious. And taking COVID very serious here with limiting capacity.
Coffee was great, the staff was nice and friendly, but understaffed and took a long time to just get coffee.
Very cool place with very good food. Great customer service. Im not a true coffee drinker but the chai tea was delicious - and really cute. See the picture. They also have other teas and drinks. I had a good cherry fizz. And my turkey and Swiss on marbled rye was very good.Lots of cool stuff going on too. Comedy on Tuesday and music on Weds. Great entertainment with no admission charge!Warm and friendly. Good addition to the neighborhood.
Great food, beverages and WiFi
I just left urban grind after waiting at least 50 min for a cappachino, chai latte, and two breakfast sandwiches. The older gentleman with glasses continued to make and serve customer orders that came after me. I’ve been living directly across from Urban Grind since 2012 and have never went through these issues Cassandra was owner. I will not be going again.
This coffee shop gives ALL the feels. I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk and is was so smooth and rich. Love the location and the aesthetics of it all. 🖤🤎
I havent been here yet but Ive heard so many great things about this spot. Once everything is all good again this place is definitely on my list of places to frequent.
Great coffee spot. Incredible ambience, great staff and most importantly great coffee.
Great cake, muffin, bagel and other yummy choices. outdoor seating but nice vibe indoors as well.
My favorite place to get work done and check out local art and authors. I recommend getting a Dirty Chai Latte.
Very friendly staff and chill atmosphere. However the place is in desperate need of upgrades. The bathroom had a leak, the expresso machine nearly exploded, and some tables are filled with burn spots. Love the coffee and Italian sodas.
This is my favorite coffee shop! The chai latte with almond milk is my weakness.
First time here and I had the veggie panini. It was great! The woman with the purple hair, while she was working alone and it took a long wait with so many customers to tend to, she didn’t fold and contained her composure.
Had an amazing experience! We came at the breakfast/lunch changeover however there was still a lot to choose from! My husband and I indulged with smoothies! Both flavors we chose were no longer available for the day so we ended up choose 2 different ones instead, but, even with the change, we made it to meet our Lyft. Highly recommend as a place to hang out and get some work done.
A nice place to sit and read, one of the few coffee houses that are around where you dont feel rushed to leave once you get there. I didnt get a chance to try the food but the Black Forest mocha was nice if you want something for your sweet tooth.
Great atmosphere, delicious mocha. Will be back, but please next time let people know youll be kicking them out for open mic before your take their order. Would have liked to stay for more than 30 minutes. Not everyone knows your schedule. Thanks 👍🏽
I love this place. The pastries are amazing and the environment is also great.
Great black owned coffee shop! I love the iced chai and vanilla frappe!
Introduced to this establishment about 4 years ago. Love each time that I have went. They have GREAT smoothies and cakes. Also the poetry every Thursday is awesome with wonderful hosts. Owner is friendly to all patrons. Would highly recommend if you just want to grab coffee as well.
Even though I have lived in Atlanta for 3 years I am just now getting around to exploring new areas. I love Urban Grind for the atmosphere and the delicious paninis. Looking forward to future visits particular on open mic nights.
Love the atmosphere and black owned! Nice selection of food options. I visited for the spoken word event.
Love the atmosphere, love the selection of teas, and the carrot cake, when they have it.I dislike the vibes and attitude of the guy behind the counter ( with the locks). It stinks to high heaven! When you buy a tea, and want some more hot water to use up the teabag, they charge a full regular tea again (well, at least he does). He is rounding up in his favor when given a chance ( charging for a large, instead of a medium), and rounding down when it is to his advantage to do so (putting half the amount of tea in the bag as other coffee houses or tea shops).I guess, he hasn’t realized yet that it’s not the 50c he can get more in today’s transaction, but the 100s of $ over time that a returning customer would spend.Well, i haven’t been there for a couple of months for that reason. Thought I’ll check if it changed. It didn’t. So i won’t return for while again, that is clear.I wish for them to figure out soon how to build a loyal clientele. There’s not much else around as alternative. Would be a shame if they would have to close. Maybe in a few months the situation may have improved - for now, one star is the most i can give…
Great environment, black owned, and coffee slap.
Despite a notice on the door saying masks were required to enter, the barista did not wear a mask during the entire interaction with me or while preparing my drink. The coffee shop seemed overcrowded with about 20 customers sitting inside, several of whom were not wearing masks and not distanced. Would not recommend going in during the COVID pandemic.
I honestly had a great time. The ambiance. The food. It was all great! Also, we were able to see some awesome comedians ! 😊
Great customer service
Great! Family run! Great food and nice poetry shows. You should go on Wednesdays and get the salmon sandwich with a flavored Italian soda.
Prices are good. Service is great. Atmosphere is relaxed with semi-hipster decoration. But...they make cold brew iced coffee! Its fantastic, best iced coffee Ive ever had from a shop. Definitely worth a visit.
I love what they are doing here. Very Chic, very low key, urban sophisticated... love poetry night and comedy night. They do it for the locals and we appreciate it.
OMGoodness! I stopped by for the first time today. Had the Chai Latte with Oat Milk with a vegan zucchini bread. Both ahmazingly delicious!
Such a cute coffee shop!
Cozy spot, great for working/studying, meeting and also has friendly service. Its local/black owned too so support these gems!
Best tasting coffee shop. Espressos are Great.4/5 stars -5 stars if the gentleman behind the bar will smile. Third time visiting, a smile or hello would make this location 5 stars.
Just thought i would stop by to try the white raspberry mocha x/expresso. Was delicious, atmosphere so calm, prices are worth the taste. I believe the barista that helped me and prepared the coffee was Marcus, he was very friendly. Will definitely recommend
My Office away from my office.. When I need a change of pace and a nice relax vibe Urban Grind is my go to spot.. Staff is very friendly and the music is relaxing..
Bad business and regards for paying customers.
Great place, comfortable seating knowledgeable staff and good food. Had the turtle latte, it was a little sweet but still tasty. Definitely will be back. For those looking for a local spot to support, definitely check it out. Oh yeah...and its Black Owned. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Phuck Starbucks!
One of my favorite spots.. very comfy & welcoming. The food is really good & the staff is so nice. I go out of my way to come here
Coffee was really good, cozy place. It was a great shelter from pouring rain.
Good spot to get work done. Food is much better than other coffee shops around, and they have some cool events too. And they have a parking lot off to the side that I didnt know about.
Cool vibe. Good veggie sandwich. Nice staff. Comfy seating.
Visited from Louisiana on 12/5..unique and different atmosphere. Poetry night was a good experience..space is small; could use more room.
Great place, great location...service and environment were incredible!
