I spent more money than I budgeted but they made me feel great doing it. I actually test drove the car twice in the same day. It feels good to be back in a Subaru. I had an excellent experience with my “new to me” Outback. After leasing Fords for years (thanks to my son’s A plan) I decided to finally buy and wanted a Subaru Outback. My budget was set but I still wanted low mileage and all the fancy amenities I could afford. I lucked out by getting Darren Henry as my sales person at Dunning Subaru. He made a difficult time in my life go smoother. I am presently receiving my chemo infusions but my Ford lease was up and I had to have a car. The used inventory was large and all price ranges, years, mileages and amenities offered. After googling all my dealership and owner options I contacted Dunning. So we visited Dunning Subaru and started talking to Makenzie and he got us set up with test driving the forester, we knew we liked the vehicle but the test drive sealed the deal. The service department at Dunning Subaru is always very friendly and helpful. The service technicians are conscientious and proficient. As someone who is detail oriented, I sometimes do things like check the wheel nut torque after service departments need to pull a wheel, or brake fluid level after brake service, and have found that the Dunning technicians are careful to torque or fill appropriately. That isnt the case at all service departments. They also leave the interior neat and wash the vehicle before it is returned. I will continue to use the Dunning Subaru service department for all the maintenance items that I dont perform myself.
Bought a car with an extended warranty. They answered every email and call I had when I was buying the car. I decided to cancel the warranty and have been trying to get a hold of them for 2 weeks with no response to emails or voicemails. Never going here againEdit: finally got a hold of my salesperson who was able to do the paperwork with me remotely to cancel. 2 months later i still hadnt received a credit. I called back and was able to work with a manager who said the paperwork was never sent and that he would help take care of it. 2 more months still waiting on the credit.Edit2. Last manager i spoke with retired. contacted new manager and finally got my credit back in late August.

I am glad to share our excellent experience at Dunning Subaru.I am the kind of customer who asks loads of questions and our salesperson Nick had every answer at the tip of his tongue. I was very impressed that he wanted me to be comfortable with my choice rather than just trying to sell me anything he could.After the sale we left the rear gate open by mistake and found a dead battery the next day. Nick even came over and jump started it for us!We usually take our cars to the neighborhood car shop but we realized that the complex electronics (which we love) needed expert repair. When we had the battery checked they understood everything, even the obscure Battery drainage prevention function setting.I highly recommend Nick and Dunning Subaru.(Here is an addition I am adding 4 months later. There was a clerical error and Dunning refunded $500 that I did not know about. Not every car dealer would do that. What a pleasant surprise!)

I took my moms Subaru to Dunning for an oil change and tire rotation last week. She purchased the vehicle from this dealership and has been extremely happy with everyone there since day one. Ask for Juanita! Seriously. I was blown away by her service. She made things so simple by asking all the right questions, and making the process go the smoothest I couldve imagined. She didnt push anything, but instead listened to exactly what we were working with and offered a good array of vehicle choices. We ended up chosing one that we fell in love with browsing the website beforehand. The gentleman (couldnt recall his name, I apologize)who helped with our loan was also great. He showed us everything with fine detail, and clearly stated each item in the contract. I loved how they rolled out the extras in package deals so you can decide your payment depending on your particular needs. On top of it all the car is a beauty, and super fun to drive. I felt like a teen again(you know before you LOATH excessive driving 😁)!

After multiple attempts to get my suspension fixed on my 2020 Ascent at Al Serra Subaru in Grand Blanc, I chose to go to a different dealership . Was told multiple times that there was nothing wrong with my car and that the “Clunk” when I hit any bumps in the road was “normal for an older car” since it has 40,000 miles on it... Dunning Subaru took 1 look at my car and knew exactly what was wrong with it !! Jen was very helpful, professional and went the extra mile to ensure I wasn’t treated poorly the way I was at Al Serra . The techs were great and my car is driving like brand new again !!! I brought my Crosstrek to Dunning Subaru to get a new tire that would replace the one a rogue nail destroyed on our road trip across the country. Dunning Subaru ordered the tire I needed right away, and they were awesome to work with. Everyone loved my dog, and the new tire is working out great - glad we found these folks. This is our new go-to Subaru service center! Austin helped us out to ensure we had what we needed - he was knowledgeable, super efficient, and personable. Well be back!
I got my first Subaru at Dunning, and they also performed my first service/check-up. I worked with Darren Henry for about a month until I found the right car. He was helpful, engaging, and pleasant. I ended up getting a 2017 Forester right before the new 2018 models hit the lot, so I got a very competitive price (and 0% APR for 4 years!). Dunning is a very competent dealership, and Im glad I bought my first new car from them.I cant say enough positive things about Darren Henry. He was helpful, kind, responsive, and reasonable. I worked with him just over 2 years ago, and Im still extremely satisfied with how he handled my car-buying experience from inquiry to sale.
Brent McDermott made the whole sales process simple and zero pressure. You could tell that someone had trained the Dunning Sales team on how to be informative instead of not listening and jamming some sales proposal on you. I was working to find my daughter her first new car. Clearly not a chore with the kind of process Brent followed with us. His personality made us want to work with him for the purchase.

I bought a 2014 Forester with my son in 2017. The master cylinder broke in Oct 2018 right before a prepaid road trip vacation. The Forester was certified so we expected Dunning to take care of us and get us on the road ASAP. Not only did that not happen, but we ended up paying for our own car rental on vacation and the towing to get the car to Ann Arbor. Both of these items are listed as covered on the certified agreement. Service personnel told us that user error had caused the clutch to fail and we did not know how to drive a manual. My son was taught on 2 manuals and neither one of them ever had the clutch or master cylinder replaced. Both of my manual Hondas had/have their original clutch. Dunning staff insulted us, and we insulted them back. Our tempers were hot. We felt, and still feel swindled. The master cylinder failed again so we took it to our regular mechanic and he put in another brand part and we havent had a problem since. What Dunning saved themselves in treatment of us seems short sighted.

The level of care and attention to detail they show to their customers is beyond compare. Ive seen some of the same service representatives there for years, and Ive had especially great interactions with Austin. I always feel that cared for, and I know my vehicle is as well!

I have never written an online review before, but after my experience at Dunning Subaru I knew I had to give them a 5 star review online.After weeks of searching for a used car and dealing with multiple disappointments at other dealerships, the Dunning team delivered with OUTSTANDING service.I especially want to give a 5 star review to my salesperson Juanita Crawford and heres why:- She carefully listened to my needs and did her best to find me something without trying to sell me on a car I did not want.- There was no pressure at all and she made a genuine connection with me.- Of all the many dealerships I visited, she was the only salesperson who reached out to me and stayed in contact during my car search.- Once I found a car on Dunnings website, she immediately responded to my request and got all the info I needed right away. I didnt have to wait hours or days for a callback.- She continued to keep me up to date on the vehicles status with regular texts.- She was on top of all the details and got me processed quickly to make sure the car wouldnt get sold by someone else (which happened to me multiple times at other dealerships).- When the car came back from detailing, she noticed the windshield was cracked and quickly made arrangements to have it replaced without me needing to ask. It was done in less than 24 hours.- Even though I was only buying a budget used car, she treated me with the same attention, respect, and urgency as a new car buyer.- I knew she was very busy and had multiple other clients to handle, but she stayed with me through every step of the process even while waiting for the finance team.- Overall, she got me through the buying process in about an hour which was extraordinary!This was my second car purchase from Dunning and I will be returning to them for my next car purchase. I arrived without an appointment and was greeted with respect. After explaining my needs, I was given an accurate estimate of my wait time - and offered a ride home if I wanted it. I did not. The coffee was excellent. Theres a new machine that brews to your taste. I like that there are two waiting rooms, one for those who want their privacy (me) and those interested in watching TV (not me). The work was done on time. A couple of extra problems were discovered, which were explained and the cost laid out. All in all a very satisfying experience.
I loved my Subaru. Although it had no running issues, I had a small bumper work done on my car at a collision shop (Northside). After the repair, the car ran well for the next months or so as it usually did.Issues started when I brought my car to Dunning Subaru for an oil change along with other services for about $100 plus. A few minutes after driving off the dealership, the check engine light came on. When I got home, I realized the reverse camera wasnt working properly.I brought the car back a few days later and they determined it was the battery and had it replaced along with other diagnostics for $400. The next day, the engine light, along with many warning indicators lit up. I brought the car back for the 3rd time and they said it would cost me $6900 for a harness. When I inquired why I needed a harness for almost 7k, the service people claimed that the mechanics from the body shop cut and rewired the system. Oddly, that particular body shop (Northside) has done many repairs for this dealership and continues working with them. When I declined, Dunning Subaru Service parked my car outside and said my car was “ready” without putting any covers/underlinings back on. When I realized that the pushpins were in my cupholders, I pulled over to check that they were dangling (and now damaged).As time went by, the car began to have issues firing up. Eventually, we drove our other car because our Subaru wouldn’t start. I finally decided to bring my car back to Northside. The shop’s manager was displeased when I shared what Dunning Subaru informed me because they don’t unnecessarily cut wires or rewire the electrical. The shop did their diagnostics and determined it was the neutral switch. For less than $500, my car is working like a charm again. Had I continued pouring money to Dunning Subaru, my car would still have issues. Their service mechanics are inept and unskilled who randomly guess what the problems are at the expense of their customers. I’m annoyed spending over $500 to acquire such a problem when my car had no issues prior. They need to either re-train/re-certify their mechanics/technicians/customer service staff or let them go. After this experience at Dunning, I don’t think I can buy another Subaru, even though I use to rave so much about Subaru vehicles. Yes this dealership ruined it for me.
I cant say enough about how great my used Subaru purchase experience with Dunning was! My salesman, Darren, was hands-down the best Ive dealt with to date: genuine, sincere, and completely transparent. This team at Dunning understands car buying from the perspective of the customer, and they helped me feel comfortable with my decision to purchase the vehicle every step of the way, from test drive to purchase. Additionally, the Dunning team was responsive to resolving my post-sale concerns, which was the icing on the cake! 5-stars all the way!
I did a goofy thing and bought my very first car during a pandemic. All the rideshares are drying up—whats a bus bound girl to do?? Luckily, Dunning Subaru was able to make the process of buying a car unexpectedly easy, swift, and smooth. Its my first experience with a car dealership and I think I got pretty lucky!For a little detail, during my car hunt, I saw a posting for a used 2013 Mazda on their website. It looked beautiful, clean and between the aesthetic looks and great price point, seemed too good to be true, quite frankly. I connected via their website with the intent of putting a hold on the vehicle so that I could check it out and a sales rep—Juanita—got in touch within the same day to confirm some details, put down the hold, and set up a time for me to look at the car. Throughout the whole process, Juanita was super communicative (documents and such were shared via phone or text which was really convenient) and flexible with my work schedule. I was never upsold on anything, and there were no secret hoops to jump or surprises during the process.I got to the dealership, checked out/test drove the car and it was as-advertised—better even. Having read some horror stories about used cars from dealerships, as well as being a newbie, I was of course worried. Juanita noted that Dunning doesnt sell janky cars, which I did honestly at first take to be car salesperson hyperbole. BUT when I got the car checked at a well respected Ann Arbor mechanic that Id gotten referred to, my mechanic gave the Mazda a pretty clean bill of health (7y/o car ran like a champ, oil was changed and everything) and noted that Dunning does take good care of their cars, which was a relief to hear.As I paid in cash, the process took less than an hour. Juanita had me all set up to sign paperwork in a sanitary, socially distanced environment (they even wiped down the car before I test drove) and once I was ready to buy, all I had to do was sign and hand over a check.I couldnt be happier and more relieved to have had such a smooth and positive experience with a car dealership my first time around. The internet scared me quite a bit when it came to this process, and I think I got lucky by going through Dunning. Thanks again for making at least one thing easy during a very uneasy time.

Came in knowing what I wanted and what I wanted to pay. They did everything they could to put me in a car at the right price point. Sales team was knowledgeable and responsive to emails and texts. The experience of buying a car has changed because of COVID but they did what they could to still make it super easy on me. Amazing dealership.
Salesman wasnt ready at the appointment time, then spent 10 minutes with me before asking me to wait while he met with another customer. Literally had only one vehicle to show me which he then quoted an inflated price over the advertised price. I never get their bottom line. I was eager to buy but they just wanted to see how much they could get from me.... no customer service and not interested in closing the sale. VERY disappointing.... and Im still looking to buy a car.
I recently bought my first Subaru from Dunning, and it has been a great experience. My sales rep was friendly, helpful, and most of all not pushy. She offered information but never gave me the impression she was focused on making an up-sale.The vehicle I purchased needed a tow hitch, which was not in stock so I had to come back to have it installed. The service team was great, and helped me with a vehicle to drive around town while mine was being serviced (I live an hour away from the dealership).
This was my first time purchasing a new car from a dealer and it was by far the best experience I could hope for. I worked with Darren and Blaine for the most part, but every person in the building gave me an expectation mal experience. There was none of that pressure and sleaziness that one associates with car dealerships. They were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking to buy a new car. Thanks a bunch guys!
I bought my 2020 Legacy at Dunning in July of last year. Blaine helped me learn about all of the options available in the cars in Dunning’s fleet and helped me pick the right vehicle for me. He also did an excellent job showing how all of the technology in the vehicle worked. He still asks me if I’m happy with my vehicle when he sees me at the dealership for service appointments! All in all, my experience with Dunning has been excellent.
After being a lifelong Ford family we fell instantly in love with the new Forester. On top of a great product, the team at Dunning was such a pleasure to work with. Having never bought through Subaru before, we were a little unfamiliar and hesitant but the team was great. Adam, Ben, Nick, and everyone else we worked with were knowledgeable, friendly, and transparent. Highly recommend Dunning Subaru in Ann Arbor!

Went to Dunning Subaru in Ann Arbor for recall WRI20 of my Outback. Was informed itll take bet an hour or more. Was relaxing at the waiting area for about 20 minutes and advisor came and said your car is done, quite impressive considering that my mind set is Ill be here for a while, for that Ill give them 5 stars it was my first time and will definitely comeback, Kudos!
We moved from our 2019 Ascent to the 2021 touring version and love it. Our whole experience in getting out of the 2019 model and into the upgraded 2021 version was simple and enjoyable thanks to the efforts of Nicole Naughton at Dunning. Working with the finance department was also super easy and enjoyable. Great team backing great products without over-reaching sales efforts makes for a thoroughly pleasant experience. We will be back again the next time we are in the market!

Walked in hoping to test drive a car I saw on Dunning’s website. After walking in, that car was just sold, but Brent helped us right away to see what else was available. He helped me find a better car than the one I was looking at! It was a smooth process and Brent helped us a ton!
Nice waiting area off to the side of the show cars. Spaced comfy chair seating around a small coffee table, tall chair seats around a tall table, and a counter with snacks and instant coffee/hot chocolate/mocha machine.
Typical large car dealership. A few good people surrounded by employees that are greedy and/or incompetent. High pressure sales tactics for add-ons almost caused me to walk out on a 99% done deal. Have had bad luck with either overworked or undertrained service techs making mistakes on simple jobs that resulted in multiple return trips to fix.
I am writing this review after a year of below average experience with this dealership. We reached by 11:30 AM ET and requested for finance options on new and used outback, clearly mentioned that we have around 1.5% interest loan from our bank and if they want to finance then it should be less than that. We were made to sit for more than an hour and then got the details with higher interest rates. When I asked this question the sales person started to give me un-necessary answers and it became an argument. Without even understanding the situation the manager mentioned that he is not interested in selling the vehicle. Had owned 6 vehicles so far in last 10 years and never had such an experience. Request the management to ask questions first.

I dealt with Ryan Livingston at Dunning Subaru in Ann Arbor after stopping in on a Saturday to test drive a used Subaru Forester that I had seen online and was interested in possibly purchasing. I had not been looking or thinking of getting a car, it was kind of more of an impulse internet search. Then after seeing the Forester deal, I had to check it out....Once there, I wasnt able to make up my mind as to whether I was ready to proceed with the purchase and exchange my current vehicle on a whim. Come Monday morning I realized I did want the car but thought since I live out of town about 45 minutes, and I work full time, I would not be able to have the time to go back to Dunning and purchase the vehicle. Ryan helped make the purchase super easy, a few emails and it was done! He had a driver bring the Subaru to me at my place of employment 45 minutes away. Signed a few documents, the driver (Eric) put my license plate on my new vehicle and took the old one away. Super easy, I would recommend dealing with Ryan if you are looking for a new or used car. Did not feel pressured to buy.
My salesperson Nicole was wonderful and answered all my questions about my new Forester. It was the best, most efficient car-buying process I have experienced in many decades of purchasing cars. I am so pleased with all the Eyesight safety features, and short of having a Barkley as a chauffeur, gives me confidence to take to the highway on adventures.

Recently purchased a used vehicle from Dunning Subaru. Blaine Schlosser was very helpful and courteous both over the phone and in person, whereas some other dealerships I spoke to were not. Received a fair deal on the vehicle compared to market value estimates, and they even fixed some issues that popped up on the vehicle for free prior to delivery. Worth the 30 minute drive for me to come up, great business here!

I bought my car here two years ago, and have coming here for service ever since. Ive had a great experience. I have never felt like they have tried to get me to pay for more maintenance than I need, which I really appreciate and look for in a company.
Juanita was super helpful. She got us all set up for the test drive and then gave us the keys and said take your time. Gave us space to make our decision. Went through with the deal and put a deposit down on my first Subaru. Then a couple days later before I go to pick up my new car I see it listed for a lower price. I asked about it and they honored the price! No hassle or anything. A+ on customer service and inventory. I would recommend to a friend looking for a Subaru.
