As long as you are spending money, Tommy is your buddy. As soon a you question his work he gets defensive and sparky. Very expensive. Never his fault. Told us everything was perfect. After he checked everything he determined the cam was 3 degrees out. Didnt know that when we came back in because he never checked it before it went out.
UPDATE:: I have updated my original 1 star to 4 stars simply because of how THE OWNER handled the situation. The person we originally spoke with was not the owner. The owner called my husband back to speak with him about the issue within a few weeks if I remember correctly, but I never updated my review. The owner did apologize for the situation as well as the behavior of the person we originally spoke with about everything. We may actually return to this business in the future simply due to the owners outstanding customer service and willingness to apologize to us. He was able to drop the price a bit on the engine, but we can still get a brand new, already rebuilt engine that is ready to drop in, plug and play for half the cost, so that is likely what we will do. I still do not want to give them 5 stars strictly due to the fact that whoever was working on our job obviously was not paying attention to what we had requested be done, or the person on the phone did not understand or relay the info properly. At this point, I do not think they were intentionally trying to swindle us into paying for a lot of extra stuff, but I do think they need to take care of being a little more thorough regarding customer requests and how it is translated to their machinists. It may have been different if they were dealing with someone that doesnt do this for a living, but I work in a VERY similar industry and I understand/have first hand knowledge and experience with the machining ops required to do the extra services they performed.ORIGINAL POST August of 2020::ZERO STARS. Simply put, this person is a liar and a thief. He was asked to call us with information and a price about the motor, and instead he went ahead and did a ton of work on the engine that we NEVER APPROVED or asked him to do. If you take your engine here, you are basically asking to be robbed. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS BUSINESS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.
Ive had great experiences with the team there. I brought in a Chevy 283 for a 1959 Corvette that Im restoring back to its original 290HP config. I sat down with them described what I wanted and they delivered. They bored and sleeved the block back to standard size, decked the block, complete rebuild of the heads (valves, springs, rocker arms, etc), polished the crankshaft, ordered new camshaft/timing chain kit/oil pump/push rods/connecting rods, custom ordered a new set of domed pistons, balanced the assembly (pistons, rods, crankshaft) including flywheel/pressure plate combo. I believe I got my moneys worth and will use them again in the future.
I had heard of Mr. Goza for a number of years. But hes about an hour drive from me. So I had dropped off a flywheel at a closer engine shop to be balanced back in February. Well corona hit and there machine was down waiting on parts. So they sent the flywheel over to Tommy. He got it knocked out in a matter of a day or two. Great work. Had a great time talking to him as well when I picked it up. He might be an hour drive away, but hell get all my engine machine work from here out.
I had a full engine rebuild completed by Tommy and I could not be more happy with the result. The pricing was fully itemized and he detailed every step before work was performed, it was absolutely professional. I felt like I got the full value of the investment in my engine which was worth the skill and knowledge they offer. The shop is clean and well organized, everyone was very friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Place is amazing, I drive an 1982 el camino looking for some engine work, more horsepower. If you love or like engines and parts, you will love this place. Its like a baby summit. Drove past it so many times and didnt realize it was a engine shop. They bore, honing, balancing, competition valve jobs, cam bearing, port work, glass bead blasting. Car or diesel, cast iron or aluminum. Walked threw the whole shop. What other shop will let you and talk for hrs about what they love to do everyday. Amazing, thanks Joe
Came to this shop on short notice with a small project that no one else would take up for me. The people at the shop kindly agreed to do the work and stayed through lunch to complete it!!!! The owner of this shop and the employees are without a doubt the best in the business at what they do and are some damn fine gentleman at that. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Have used him three times in last 10 years. Had two flywheels turned and some headers flanges ground flat. Very fair prices, good turn around and quality work. Always dealt directly with Tommy. If I could give 6 stars I would!
Tommy is one of the nicest guys in the business and we have been using him since 1978 for high quality machine work on our Porsche engines. He is very conscientious, his prices are very reasonable, and he actually gets the work out in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to use him for your engine work. He is great on v-8S
Tony will literally bend over to make you happy.
Definitely not the same place.....expect rude service
If your looking for any automotive machine work done definitely talk to Tommy and his team. Great people and decades of experience. Hes done some great work for me. I would recommend him. Great Advice as well!
Great experience with Goza. Had a couple of brake rotors turned to clean them up. Service was extremely fast, and the owner was very friendly. Will definitely use Goza again.
Best machinist in NW Atlanta. Charges whats necessary to make a living and hire competent employees. Seems really unfair of folks to leave a one star review because they cant afford good work. You absolutely get what you pay for with machine work.
Great place to go if you need to resurface the head of your car I would highly recommend them they were recommended to me by a friend and I would pass on the word to anyone who wants a good well done job for engine work.
Exactly as stated in other review. Very Very expensive. Probably because they are the only one in the area. Of course they do great work, but man, do you pay for it! I am willing to drive 30 miles to have the work done, and costs about half.
Every engine Ive ever built with them has performed and lasted great. Honest and knowledgeable. If you complain about the price you may not be able to afford the car business IMHO.
Best machine shop in Acworth Tommy goza. Waaaaaaapaaaaa
Need good machine work go here and Tommy nows all.
The people here were rude and condescending and the price they quoted me was almost twice what another shop charged me. Dont waste your time going here. These people are very unprofessional and they are ripping people off. While I was in their shop I overheard them talking about another client and I was appalled at how disrespectful they were. These people dont value their customers at all.
Excellent service! Definitely use them again.
Dropped off 2 aluminum v6 heads Tuesday at lunch (for deck and check only), I called Thursday. . Uhh . . umm. . they may be done tomorrow. . Friday? REALLY ! Next time Ill go to my tried/true Shop in Marietta to Cyl Head for Exchange if you catch my drift.
Had sleeves installed in my engine block I kept having head gasket failure problems And instead of trying to help he said Stuff happens And wanted to charge me full price to repair his mistake
Good but kinda high
Love them!
By far, Just about the most expensive machine shop I came across.
