Probably the worst liquor store Ive ever been in. Asked about a handle of alcohol... was shown terrible bottom shelf and told thats all they had. Then I saw a 1.75L bottle of Jameson and took that to the register to check out. Was treated terribly and would never recommend going back. Over priced plus terribly rude employees. Absolutely disgusting experience.

Really great varieties of all kinds of fine wines and spirits. The owners are very kind and friendly.

I just left this location and I have just been harassed by the person who works there. He cursed at me when I asked for an extra plastic bag and he asked me to leave stating that he refuses to help “people like me”

I Live in Potomac MD I needed some wine late night for guest this was the only store open till 12 AM / Midnight. The manager and the staff was very polite and helpful. The section of wines & Single Malt Scotch was top Notch Prices are very reasonable.

This establishment does not comply with basic COVID-19 safety guidelines. When I approached the register, the store manager did not have his mask on (though he had one right below his chin), so I asked him to please put his mask up. He grumbled and pulled the mask up a little bit, and when I asked him again to please do so he refused, said I was being ridiculous, and said that he was fine. Well, a lot of the rest of us are concerned about our health, the health of those who live with us, and the health of those in our communities. I left without finishing my purchase because I was so incensed. The DC DoH should fine this establishment and shut it down.

I just had a completely inappropriate interaction with the cashier at this store. First, he was unwilling to sell me anything unless I *handed* him my ID (during COVID). I told him that I was not comfortable with him touching it, and that I’d hold it in front of his face. He refused to accommodate this and told me to leave.Second, after much ado, he agreed to sell me the item. But after trying 2 different credit cards, 3 times each, and then Apple Pay, he continued to assert my cards — rather than his machine — weren’t working.Third, in the middle of this, he spent several minutes on the phone with a liquor vendor, making me and another customer wait.Fourth, I allowed the other customer to go ahead of me and try his card, which also didn’t work, proving that the store’s machine was down and that my cards were (obviously) not the issue.Fifth, he was difficult, unhelpful, and overtly rude throughout the interaction.I left without a purchase and will never go back. Respect yourself and avoid this place.

I went in here to purchase a bottle of wine and the worker was the least bit helpful. If you’re looking to purchase alcohol in DC this is the last place I would recommend.

I recently moved to DC and happened to walk in to Universal Liquors for some Rose, Beer & Bourbon. Got a few extra bottles of Buffalo Trace coz they are mostly gone and the prices were great and lot better than the markups in the other store across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful in even getting my beers up to the front. Its definitely going to be my to go store from now and would recommend my friends too.

Prides were a bit high as well as the clerk. The clerk struggled to ring up my purchase and had to refund it after he charged me for things that I didnt order then complained about having to do a refund, kept saying he was going to get yelled at. Interesting experience to say the least.

Basic liquor store, no frills. Less expensive than the place across the street; not a rip off. Manager will try to stock special requests, but distributor distribution and discount schedules make it tricky sometimes.

This place was open and selling beer in the middle of all this covid nonsense, they were the 5th place I went, thank god for these dudes.

The man I met at the till is so rude, I called earlier for further details but he kept hanging up on me and after finding my way to the liquor store he kept defending his rudeness by the fact that he was the only person open in the area .. the alcohol selection is good prices are a slightly higher than usual in the area.
