Very friendly, cheerful, and fast service. We had the veggie omelette, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and country fried steak. They have lots of muffins, cakes, and bakery items to choose from. The pistachio cake and banana nut muffin is excellent. Really moist and fluffy.Food was great- I love Mom and Pop Shop businesses!
Dont look on their website because they havent updated the prices in a long time. I went in for a 6 dollar burger which is now pretty much 10 dollars. Service was very bland, the burger was pretty good though. Interior is nice, and they have a wide selection of meat along with some produce. All in all decent place but a little over priced
I love coming to glicks, the meat counter is always great to experience! But I tend to be one of those customers that doesnt want to show up five minutes util they close, they close at 6. Especially on Sundays because they close the meat counter at 1pm and the clerk at the counter was very nice with helping me and giving me the information I needed to know especially when I ask when I should show up apposed to when theyre closing down lol. Id give this place ten stars if I could!
Service is friendly, clean, food is good, basil cream is delicious
We loved this place! In town visiting, and wanted a good breakfast. This place delivered! We found the wait staff friendly and attentive. Those spicy potatoes were the bomb.
The food was DELICIOUS. Im visiting from out of town but if I lived here Id go regularly. Super great quality, you can tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in the food. My only complaint was the service. Our waitress messed up our drink orders (probably because she wrote nothing down), never checked on us or offered refills, and forgot sugar for the coffees. Then she went ahead and assumed we were all on one bill, even though it was 4 separate adults and a child. When we asked her to split it up she had an attitude and we had to walk in our checks because she never came back. I would love to go back for the house potatoes alone, and the huge cups of coffee and fluffy biscuits and gravy. Service, not so much.
We missed breakfast which some locals raved about, but we were told by our server burgers are their jam. They werent cooked to order, they just turned them all out as mediums to medium well which I am not a fan of. They did taste good which is why they get three stars. Our service was very slow but that could be a one time thing so try them out. Nice atmosphere, did a good job decorating, a little chilly though so bring a jacket.
Amazingly good food 😊♥️Run! Dont walk to this eatery.Youre gonna love it. Best breakfast steak burrito and chicken fried steak.
Definitely would have given 4 stars if not for the wait. Everything was tasty and big. Service was friendly but slow. We waited 45 minutes after ordering . Its a weekend so maybe not typical.
We have been driving by this place and wanted to give it a try. We looked up the menu online and it said they serve Breakfast & Lunch from 7-3 on Saturdays. Show up and they are only serving Brunch but the waitress says they will make a burger. My husband orders a double burger, I get the California breakfast burrito and one pancake for my daughter. The waitress drops the burger off with out saying anything and we sit and wait... and wait... he’s a little over halfway through the burger when my plate arrives, and completely finished with his meal by the time the ONE pancake makes it to the table. I’m not sure if the waitress didn’t know there was anything wrong with this or just didn’t care. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and I understand that things happen, but I can not understand this. Staff needs better training. The burger and the pancake were really good, but the burrito is not. Not pleased at all.
Well this place must be closed... They dont answer the phone, been trying for an hour to grab lunch, but no answering machine nothing.
Oh my gosh! So good! And excellent service. Biscuits and gravy with eggs and spicy potatoes... Perfect. Uncle Joes scramble... Perfect. Coffee... Yum. Decor... Really cool. Yes, its in the Glicks building, which confused us at first.
Today was the second time Ive been to this establishment, and Im still in utter awe of it. If you are debating whether or not to eat here, let me finish for you. Eat here. Buy your meat here (and if they dont have what youre looking for, I think they can order it for you). Not only is the food superb (Im pretty sure theyre rocking a daily handwritten menu, and I had the Pit Ham Sandwich with PORK BELLY JAM), but the service is excellent. Very friendly staff. The chef himself came out and asked us how we enjoyed our meals. Bravo, Glicks team! I will definitely be frequenting your place of business. Thank you :)
First of all the waitresses were awesome. I cant remember the name .. I think it was Betsy - maybe Barbara. I just know we came to the restaurant on the 3rd of Oct and one waitress turned Us over to the other waitress b/c she was going to work at the church. They both were amazing. The ice they use for the drink .. its like a crushed slushy Ice!!! Omg! Absolutely loved it.So honesty session.1- We were quickly noticed and was offered to sit anywhere we like.2- Our table was dirty when we sat there but it was quickly cleaned.3- The food took longer than I expected it to be cooked and our Parmesan garlic fries were barely warm. - not happy about that. You always make the fries after everything else b/c they cook quicker. And the fries had no salt on them. But if the fries were the last to get done - they would have been hot enough to melt the cheese which would have given the fries more flavor and less of a need to have more salt on them.4- The burger could have had more seasoning on it as well.I just used the Parmesan Garlic seasoning that was meant for the fries and added them to the burger. That was very tasty.I will return of course to try breakfast.* Military Discount Friendly*
We went there today and it was a pretty disappointing experience. I would say the best thing about the place is the atmosphere and the decor but it is not very kid friendly. We had an extra long wait time and the service was pretty bad. Our server made several mistakes from not bringing out food too not asking how we wanted our food cooked. It seemed like we were not attended to very well either and had to ask for things like napkins and more water. And it was over $62 for two adults and two small kids. So the cost and the poor service kind of soured the whole experience for us. We left feeling like we paid through the nose for really bad service and mediocre food but the atmosphere was great, but not enough to make up for everything else. I wish I could give this restaurant a better rating, but Im going to have to give the Butcher and Baker two Stars.
Big servings of delicious comfort foods. Everything was cooked just the way we ordered it and we all had plenty of leftovers.
We were looking for a place close by the cemetary and saw 80/20. We thought it must be pretty good because when we first drove by the parking lot was full. After visiting relatives at the cemetary we went there to have lunch. The decor was farm like with the wood boards from an old barn that decorated the walls. We had to wait to be seated. The guy was working with two other customer before we were seated.. it took awhile before we had service. Our drinks took awhile to get to the table. We were given the breakfast menu and this was Saturday around 1:30pm. I asked for the lunch menu and we were told was that they had only had hamburgers -single patty or double patties with or without cheese and with or with out fries. When our food finally came the burgers were quite good and so were the fries. Kind of pricey for hamburger and fries . Everything came out to $9.00. It was an experience with lot of wait time.
Super friendly staff with great knowledge of the menu. Wonderfully intimate setting with a great menu
Popped in on a busy Sunday and was lucky enough to snag a seat at the counter. My server was friendly, attentive (but not overly annoying), and knowledgeable about the menu. My meal was delicious and came out hot, so I know it was made fresh to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. This place is half restaurant, half butcher shop from what I can tell. My only reason for 3 stars is that I had several questions about the items in the butcher case and premade things for sale that NO ONE could answer— not even the man who appeared to be the shift leader/manager.As a restaurant, this place is the bomb.Maybe just have someone familiar with the take home cold case items on shift?
Amazing food, huge servings and great staff. Very trendy interior. Had the BAT Omlete with spicy potatoes and sourdough toast and the oatmeal special with fruit and sweet cream. Plates are definitely worth a split.
I love the biscuits and gravy. Its legit made with real sausage and actual milk not powder and flavor. Finally a place that doesnt serve you a bread brick with salty flavor sauce on it
This place was great when it opened but the service has gone off a cliff lately. Waitresses seemed bothered that you showed up and kitchen takes an hour to push out a burger. Until Gordon Ramsay shows up to fix this place it’s provably best just to avoid this once fantastic eatery at all costs. Soon it will be something else.
My mom was excited to get some sausage for our Thanksgiving morning breakfast. From what she said her wait to be helped was about 20 min with about six other customers in front of her. No one behind the counter helping anyone, but she said about six or seven employees wandering around doing really nothing. When she finally got to order she asked for country sausage......fast forward to Thanksgiving morning. She opened the package and it didnt have those spice smells that country sausage has. So she added some spices to it. She didnt cook it on a high temp, but even with the spices she added it didnt smell like sausage. Infact it smelled just like hamburger. And it was tough, hard to cut and not an easy chew. Needless to say we did not finish it. I did however cut it up and put it out for the stray cats in our neighborhood (the only ones that seemed to like it). My mom said she will not be back to make any further purchases.
Ignore the negative reviews and listen to me. This is hands down the best breakfast place in Visalia. Its situated inside the citys best meat market, so the sausage/bacon/gravy are all superb. Decor is fancy farmhouse, coffee is excellent, service is always spot on.I always recommend this place to friends, and I recommend it to you, too.
Creative fare, with good ingredients and solid portion sizes. Not what I would have expected to find in a town this size to be honest but seems like Visalia has good taste in food. Also had a good French Press as well.
Had breakfast here, if you wanna skip the crowds I suggest going at 2 if youre going late. Long wait but worth the food. Good portions and the staff is nice.
Excellent food with terrible terrible service. Rude waitress, no refills, long wait, tight seating. To top it all off, it was expensive!!
Place was great and the staff was very nice. The food is amazing I had the tritip and my boyfriend had a burger and both were delicious. They also have a great selection of meats and cheeses. Worth the price!
Tried here because the Corner Cafe was busy as usual. Glad they were.I had the Butchers Benedict and brought a decent sized appetite. This portion called me a chump and laughed as I left close to half on my plate. The sub for chicken fried steak was a great idea. Truthfully I only got my selection to try the gravy, its pretty damn tasty. Only gripe is the potatoes. Theyre good in their own right but, the cilantro, while it works, is kind of incongruous with the rest of the dish.Butchers Benedict: RecommendedMy date got Chilaquiles. Large portion, the chips stayed crunchy throughout the meal. Red sauce was good and had a little bit of a kick to give the sniffles.Chilaquiles: RecommendedCoffee: Robust
Excellent Swedish pancakes, and great French press coffee. Nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
My mom and I went to breakfast there yesterday and the server seemed friendly at first, but after taking our order it took at least 30 minutes for a side of fruit, one biscuit with gravy, a side of bacon and a side of potatoes. I had to ask the manager for our food and she said itd be another 10 minutes! I asked why, and said I couldve cooked it myself in shorter time. She got our food to us and the waiter never came back to check on us. Not even after we finally got our food. He finally came to drop the check, after we asked for it, with not a word of apology, have a nice day, nothing. I am a server of over 20 years and I was appalled at his lack of customer service. I dont know his name, but he had a shaved head. Wont go back.
I thought this was Glicks Meats, it turns out to be a great little restaurant with great food. I had a burger that was fantastic! Really good service, very clean and cool decor.
First time coming to this establishment, overall a good trip. The setting inside is very comfy, neat, simple and cafe like. The menu was rather small and easy to make a selection from. One thing I noticed was that the menu was a piece of paper that had been reused several times, it looked old, crinkled and also had minor splashes from food, it took away from the restaurants overall feel.We were attended quickly, water was given to us and our order was taken. I think maybe they were under staffed as our table only had two people, and the order took about 40 minutes. I ordered the Portabella mushroom burger. The burger was very good. They did a good job of combining the flavors on thr slaw over the mushroom, great job. I was surprised to see that the burger did not have a patty, the mushroom was the patty. I would reorder this burger again. My wife ordered the Big Juan, which was a spinoff from thr Big Jim. I tried the burger and it fell short. The burger was very big in size but did not have much flavor to it and also had a dry mouthfeel.Good experience, gonna go back ti try other items in the menu.
Great food...great service and a really fun menu. definitely check them out!
Great meat at good prices. I no longer buy steaks in restaurants because I can cook one better myself for half the price with the quality of meats Glicks sells. 80/20 burgers are really good.
Delicious food and great service! Only thing is that they get packed but we didnt have to wait too long. Just had to stand and be out of the way.
Love it!!! Friendly staff and amazing food
Honestly on the food part I can not rate this place I never got to try what I ordered. My Boyfriend and I were very excited to try this place. We got there at 11:13am waited to be seated about 10 min. We sat ordered and waited 40 min. After recieving our drinks we never saw the server again. After seeing others around that arrived at the same time or after us eating. We asked about our food to a different person as she notified our server We noticed that our server rolled her eyes at her as well as when she came to our table and we asked for our check. Not ONCE did she apologize for ignoring us or the fact that our food wasnt ready yet. Not ONCE did she try to correct the situation. We were an inconvenience to her. I left this place very disappointed. We understood that it was a very busy place but when people that arrive after you are eating after you have been waiting for 40 min and know nothing of your food or server. it seems a bit ridiculous. Im very disappointed that with all the hype of this place they allow people like that server to ruin their places reputation. I would give the servers name but she never bothered to introduced herself.
Fun country atmosphere, delicious food, large portions. Great breakfast/brunch on Sunday!!
I admire the way they handle business. And they have good quality tri-tip
The service was so bad that we got there at 1015 and the waiter didnt put in order til 1045, making us get our food at 1130. They didnt apologize for the lateness or give a discount because of the service. 2 mistakes were made: Swedish pancakes were ordered with butter on the side and toast was ordered dry (without butter.) It was the worst service in 45 years of eating out. To quote Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, Worst Service Ever. This place is not recommended🤬🤬🤬
The service here stinks food is way overpriced never even got one refill on a coffee that we paid almost $4 a cup for Over all I would not recommend this Danny body unless youve got a pocket full of money to waste on horrible food
Now that they have re-opened, their lunch is horrible. I just ordered a sandwich and the bread is soggy, no barbecue sauce as requested, the fries were soggy too as if they had not been cooked correctly or had been sitting for awhile. Overall awful. No good. Do not waste your money
Good burger but waited over an hour to get it. Table next to us the owner bought a round of drinks but did not even say a word to our table of 2.
Great service and best breakfast in town. Will be back soon.
Breakfast burrito has high quality steak, very delicious!
Glicks catered a wedding this past weekend. Food and service were amazing!
Food is good- service is HORRIBLE !!! Dont ORDER online from here!!! Horrible Custoner Service. Miguel argues with you!!!! Stay Away!!
Huge burger and great service.
Food was good but service was pretty slow. Go with plenty of time.
Good food but service needs some tweaks. The past few times Ive spent substantial time waiting to be acknowledged. Standing around awkwardly, do I sit at an empty table, or wait? Ive noticed others experience this limbo too.
Intriguing decor, room was a bit chilly (every time the door opened the was another blast of cold air from outside), sweet potato fries were overdone.
Amazing Turkey sandwich! Best that I have ever eaten!
Edit - May 2017 they changed from counter order to restaurant style and the sercice wasnt good and fries cold. disappointed they ruined a good place.
Great food, friendly service. The prices are a little more than you would expect but the flavor of the food more than makes up for it.
Good tasting food......burger patties getting smaller . Get burger size buns, with slider patties.just got a deep PIT turkey sandwhich, hardly had any turkey in it. If the prices gonna be that high, fill the buns, at least.
As always, the Oatmeal Pancakes were wonderful.
Great Food & Fabulous Service!!!
Great steaks! Worth every penny.
For those who truly love meat.
Delicious breakfast and fantastic service
Best meat in town for all your special occasions!! Plus they also serve breakfast and lunch .
The was was amazing!! This restaurant is a gem!
Excellent food and excellent customer service!!!!!
Great burgers and the garlic fries are great.
My grandson said it was the best breakfast hes ever had. Everyone was very friendly.
Amazing food, friendly staff!
I bought some sausages and they didnt have any flavor, very bad experience.
Extremely rude servers, waitress, waiters. Never again
Great breakfast
Got a sandwich paid almost 10$ got home almond it was the smallest thing only about the size of a slider I was hungry with in 2 hrs never go there again
Decently priced and real tasty
Food was very good
Our turkey this Easter was not to ever be desired again. It was 100.00 but not worth 10.00. Horrible disappointed a d flat out gross. This was our first not so good experience here.
It was great
Delicious
Love that place
Nasty
Amazing to find such good products in the middle of nowhere, we had sandwiches before we left for Las Vegas and they turned out to be excellent (it is not even worth your time to compare with brands like Subway or Wendys or whatever), highly recommended.
