The Indian cooking class i attended today was 4* only because we could not taste as we went. The kitchen and implements were very clean and top flite. The ingredients were very good. Everything we used was very fresh. The class was very good. Not only did I learn a couple of new dishes, I was coached in improving my knife skills.Dinner was brought home and judged to be excellent. It was a good experience!

Love the store- super helpful and friendly staff. However, have been trying to book a private event with them for weeks and no one will get back to me. Sent in the online form and then went in person with a promise that the person would call and never did. Just disappointed because it was going to be a cool party idea.

My wife and I did a croissant baking class with Christen at this location yesterday and had a great time. This is the second class we’ve done and both have been top notch, worth every penny. Highly recommend trying the classes if you’re looking for fun new things to cook. We’ve found that we can usually figure out how to make most things using online recipes and YouTube videos, but with these classes you’ll learn tons of neat tips and tricks that you won’t find watching videos or reading off a sheet.Would rate higher if I could.5/5 for location5/5 for value5/5 Great chef / teacher

We took a cooking class with Craig that was a St Patrick’s Day theme, it was execellent!! He was so helpful and made the class so fun! Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I can’t believe I cooked what I did, and it was delicious! We left signing up for another class in a couple of weeks, totally a must do for any couple or group of friends!

My daughter rated 100 out of 1-10 points for this weeklong camp for 7 to 11-year-olds. Chef John is friendly and interacts with all the little chefs. The kids also have plenty of opportunity to interact and socialize with each other over healthy cooking. This camp far out weighed my expectations. Ingredients were ready and pre-cut. And two hours was enough time for them to prepare, cook, socialize, and eat. We will be returning!

Had an enjoyable time taking the Surf and Turf Date night cooking class, instructor was personable and entertaining (he sang/ hummed as we cooked). Facility was clean and areas were functional while abiding to the COVID restrictions. What I think could be improved on would be offering bottled water or having students bring their own. Also our class seemed to be last minute prepared as we were missing items and the instructions were not always clear.Overall I would attend another cooking class. A few tweaks and it could have been 5 stars.

What A Fabulous Experience! I was very lucky to have only one other student in my Souffle 101 class (it was a midday weekday class) however, the kitchen seemed to be an intimate enough space to feel personal with a full class. Chef Jen was great! She not only taught us about souffles, but some great basics to do with eggs and the other ingredients. It was a great hands on class, with delicious results (even when one of the three souffle we made deflated - it was a learning experience and still tasted good!) The staff in the store, especially manager Princess Sara are so personal and personable in their service. I will definitely be booking other classes in the future!

We took a cooking class with Chef Kelly and it was just so much fun! They accommodated us so respectfully (we were about ten minutes late due to traffic). Due to covid, we were unfortunately not able to cook and dine in so they allowed us to take our food home and more than the usual servings (if we were to eat there).Aside from the cooking class, the associate, Jules, was the most helpful associate I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with. She made sure we got into the cooking class (prior to booking). She is such a sweetheart and very kind and considerate!

This particular Sur La Table, as far as its location and aesthetic, is beautiful. Everything is staged nicely and its easy to see the products. However, there are two employees (a male and female) who work here and truthfully, their inability to say a simple hi how are? has left me dissatisfied and turned off. The man that works here (he has glasses) is so incredibly rude and condescending. Never says thank you, never says hi, always pretends no one is in the store. Out of all of the products Ive bought from here, Ive returned maybe 3? Every single time I had to return something, hes given me such attitude. Ive spent thousands of dollars here within less than a year, and for this level of customer service to continue, is upsetting. The other woman who works here couldnt be less interested. It just doesnt make me want to shop in the store. Jules is the only amazing and pleasant employee to be around. Shes always super accommodating and helpful. Other than that, I really dont like going in here unless I really need something.

My experience was truly horrible. More than two employees at the location exhibited discriminating and condescending attitudes. As soon as I walked in, I felt like they size people up based on race, how you dressed, and etc. I was targeted for taking some pictures in the store. Patricia confronted me “multiple times” about taking pictures in the store, and made me feel very uncomfortable and treated me like I was a spy or thief stealing their company secret or their goods. I still decided to shop there for the day because I drove about 20 miles to check out the Hyde Park area. And I have bought things from Sur La Table before, but not at this particular location. It was my first time there. As I continued my shopping and picked out merchandise in spite of my uncomfortable and upsetting encounter with Patricia, I picked out some coffee capsules with a few other things. Alas, a different employee was ready for the second round with me at the register. I asked her if the coffee capsules I picked were on sale as the sign says coffee capsules on sale (10-20%), and she told me the ones I picked were not on sale and asked me if I owned a coffee machine and if I still wanted to get it. Of course, you smart lady, that’s why I am buying the coffee capsules!! But the way or the tone she said it was extremely condescending. Now here comes the final blow. I gave her my zip code. That should be it, right? Nope. She asked me “where that was”. I should have said, “Beverly Hills 90210” to answer to her condescending attitudes and questions. But I was trying to be polite and told her exactly where. She seemed surprised. She probably thought I could not afford to live in the area or something or even own a coffee machine. This is my first Google review. I have called the corporate office about Patricia and their photo policy. Apparently, the corporate office sided with Patricia. I didn’t tell them about the other employee who was extremely condescending at the check out register. I am so sorry to leave such a detailed review. But I have to say like it is. That same day, I went to William Sonoma at the International mall. I took pictures of things I liked there. None of the employees at WS said anything condescending or exhibited police-like attitudes towards me. I bought a few things there, too. Final verdict - I will never shop there again. Especially after talking to corporate office about the issue I had encountered there, all I got was, “the employee did the right thing. Is there anything else we can help you with?” I said, “ok, what else can you do for me?” Their answer was “......(nothing)” So long, Sur La Table! Hello, William Sonoma!!Tip: if you go there, dress 👗 really nicely and maybe they may treat you different especially if you are a person of color like myself. If you do not pass their invisible customer test (sizing you up), they will bother you with questions (interrogation). But seriously, do I have to put nice clothes just to shop at Hyde Park?!?? I showered, had clean shoes, leggings, and a jacket. I smelled clean and had an iPhone taking some pictures of things I liked. Apparently, it was not up to their standard. I was treated like I should not be shopping there.

I took one of the classes last Tuesday night. Chef Tim was extremely officiant and detailed things like why certain cuts make a difference in the flavors. We did a taco class with one vegetarian taco, one fish taco and one beef. The flavors and complements were perfect! The beef was a Korean style with made from scratch kimchi and was my favorite hands down!! I am now very comfortable in preparing these recipes at home. If youre tired of the same old taco recipe, you should take this class!Chef Tim, great job!

This is a welcome addition to the Village. You can find basic kitchen needs from baking to grilling. I particularly like the robust selection of bottles and jars and the such. But even the spatula and tongs section is amazing. It is designed very efficiently with excellent lighting so you can find what you need without delay. But you will want to spend time here because so many things to discover including cooking classes and demonstrations.

I had a fantastic time at my first cooking class at Sur La Table in Hyde Park, Tampa. I am a personal chef, self taught, and wanted to expand my knowledge and skills by learning French Pastry. This class is hands on, not a demonstration. The class was small and intimate, Chef Amy Palmer not only taught us technique, but also gave us some great lessons on chemistry, and the why behind how the ingredients work and react together. We made profiteroles with vanilla bean pastry cream, fruit tartelettes and chocolate truffles. The end results were beautiful and delicious,. I was very proud to take them home to my family, and to post pics on social media! Thank Chef Amy!

I booked a cooking class for January 31 at 6:30pm on 12/13. I was looking up reviews the date of my class and happened to look at their calendar to see what other classes they offered. To my shock, when I looked at the 1/31 classes, the one I booked was now at noon vs the 6:30 I booked it for. I never received any notification that the class time changed (not by phone or email.) No one answered the store or the class line when I called. I called their national customer service number and spoke with a very nice woman named Pam. She tried calling and didnt receive an answer either. She left a message with my number as a call back. About three hours later I got a call from someone at the store saying there must have been this thirty second window where I booked and someone tried to book a private party and no one was registered for the 630 class and I got bumped. Oh how the stars must have aligned for that one. What a crock. I dont think Ill be booking another class there for fear of their supposed thirty second window.

Dream store for those who love being in the kitchen. I could have honestly spent hours in here just looking at everything---so much fun!Came in because I had read on their website that you can try the knives out before purchasing. My husband was looking to start his knife collection and I wanted him to be able to try them out to get a feel of what he liked best. He kept saying he wanted Shun but what do you know? Once he was able to try the knives out he picked out the Miyabi. Love that they let you test them out here! (Side note: its been a few months and he still loves his Miyabi chef knife!)High quality assortment of pretty much anything you need in your kitchen. Even stuff that you didnt know you need or existed--they have that here! Peeked inside the back during their cooking class--looked like everyone was enjoying themselves. We only purchased the knife and a chef bag but Im sure we will be back often, he was like a kid in a candy store here.

The chef was very nice and showed basic knife techniques which was okay but we paid a lot of money and signed up to be taught how to cook a filet on cask iron skillet as I have been working with one recently. They have us flank steaks instead. Really the entire class is just doing prep work with chopping up ingredients. The cooking method was some boiling gadget they were trying to sell vs the cask iron class that was advertised. The worst part is that they had us sharing a cooking station with another couple!!! So I basically got to cut a few scallets up and that was it. I didnt pay to share my cooking experience with someone else nor did I pay to have someone else touching my food and not preparing it the way I wanted. Due to the method of cooking the steak was very chewy and we left hungry as we have to split a steak 4 ways. For $180 I want my own cooking station, I want to be taught the class I signed up for, and I dont want to share my food with another couple. This still was a fun time but could have been so much better. My wife and I said, as we were walking to the car, that we would do this again but just not here.

I have taken numerous cooking classes at this particular location, and they have all been absolutely fantastic. I love to cook, and I have learned so much since I began taking classes here. Mitzy, the GM, Larry, Sarah, Savannah, Jules, Humberto and the ENTIRE store staff (I am sorry if I accidentally left anyone out) have all provided stellar customer service. They are always kind, and welcoming the minute I walk into the store. Maika (Resident Chef) and all of the chefs with whom I have taken classes (Jen, Renae, Craig, Christen, George - again, sorry if I have left anyone out) have all led the most fantastic classes. All chefs have shown an enormous amount of patience, and are always willing to answer questions and ensure that each student leaves the class with a full understanding of the menu, ingredients, techniques and equipment used in the class. The kitchen assistants all work hard to prep all ingredients, help keep our cooking stations neat and clean, and are there for us throughout the class for anything that we may need. And I must mention Craig and his flatbread appetizers - definitely over the top! I truly feel that this store is my home away from home. Thank you all so very much for your kindness and assistance. You are all greatly appreciated! Highly recommend to everyone!!! See you soon :)

Awful customer service experience. My fiancé and I received a cooking class as a gift for our engagement. We were so excited. The day before the class we received a confirmation call and said make sure to arrive early due to event traffic and to let the parking garage attendant know that we had a reservation. When we arrived 45 minutes early both available parking garages were full due to Gasparilla.I called to ask what we should do...the first employee Sarah told me to park in the Albertsons parking lot across the street... this was unacceptable as there was a tow away sign every 50 feet due to the parade. I told her I would only park there if a manager gave me a written confirmation that they would pay for my car if it got towed...I was transferred to a manager. He advised we could reschedule so we headed home. Then the real manager called to explain that we could NOT reschedule as it would be lost revenue. After arguing with my fiancé, we eventually turned around so we didnt lose the gift we got.Once we finally got in we were told the class was running late. So I ran to the bathroom. While waiting in line I over heard the first employee I spoke with, Sarah... talking to another employee explaining what I had asked over the phone and she said who does she think she is referring to me.Little did she know, I was standing back right there. After waiting a while we went back to the kitchen to see the class had already started. They never told us it started. The cooking class was great but we will NEVER go bad due to the HORRIBLE customer service we received.
