Im not the type to write reviews but this place blew my mind with the quality of the work and how long it took. I had a cat-back exhaust installed on my GTI and it took no longer than an hour. the man who installed my exhaust was honest and was a very reliable mechanic who I will definitely be going back to in the future. I recommend this place to anyone.

Took my car in a few months ago to get a new exhaust put on. Customer service was amazing and they were extremely nice. It took about less than an hour from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. Absolutely amazing and would definitely recommend!!!

This place is a joke never bring your car here for any type of engine repairs. Absolutely no knowledge of repairing a vehicle good at welding mufflers and thats it. I should have known better to have dropped of my car after giving the owner of the shop $150 cash to replace my valve cover on my 08 Infiniti G35S and not getting a receipt. My car kept misfiring from bank 5 replaced my sparkplug and coil pack twice then took apart everything on my own only to realize not only did they not install my valve cover properly but they didnt put my clip on my fuel injectors on bank 5 back thats what kept causing my coil pack and sparkplug to misfire. Then to top it off they tried to tell me my upper oil pan was cracked were the oil sensor is which was not the case the oil sensor it self was cracked morons for the owner telling me it would take 1 hour to fix ended up 5 hours later to replace a valve cover what a joke crooks.

I am from NY and had an exhaust leak on my 2002 Lexus pipe was completely rusted. By far the best shop I ever been to. He was very professional and polite. I would recommend this shop to anyone great service !!!

I heard about this place from word of mouth. I had to get a catalytic converter replaced. I was welcomed by Nick at the front desk. He was very polite, professional and helpful. I was introduced to the mechanic (Edwin) and he told me exactly what my car needed and what he was going to do with it. Nothing more, nothing less. I have to say that Edwin did a fantastic job. These guys were awesome. I highly recommend this place 👍

Ok. Let me just say that Nick is an asset to this location. From phone call for pricing, to walking out the door, I have never been more impressed with a staff and to the the level of professionalism and teamwork between him and his techs (Edwin worked on my car) was amazing. Especially with a rare car (93 Dodge Stealth R/T).They did everything that I asked for in a custom exhaust, and got me exactly at the price I wanted with high quality work/parts. Do not go here they will change prices, try to get you to pay over the quoted price to correct their shoddy work. I was quoted $220 to put in 2 Catalytic Converters in a 2010 Supercharged Range Rover sport. I ordered my genuine parts from the Land Rover dealership once my parts arrived I scheduled the installation for the next day. When I brought the vehicle in the shop owner offered to source the parts. I told him I’ve already purchased the parts from the dealership. He responded “that is fine” and they began to get started. I waited the estimated 2hr for work to be completed. I stepped out to get get lunch and I received a call from them saying they were having trouble fitting the catalytic converter’s to the manifold pipes. They said the fittings were not the same. I contacted the Land Rover dealership who confirmed the part numbers. They then told me they can take the system back down to correct the spacing and re-fit the catalytic converters for an additional $200 or they can cut the inlet off of the old catalytic converter and attach it to the new catalytic converter because they felt that would make it fit. Dealership advised against this saying altering a part would void the warranty. I asked them to put the vehicle back together that it’s probably best I go to another shop. 5 min late I got my truck back went to leave and it stalled out multiple times. I pulled over and viewed the catalytic converters fittings, both were left completely loose with a 1/2 in gap. The check engine light, restricted performance light, and low battery light are now on and the truck barely runs. When I returned they kicked me out and refused service after telling me I bought “eBay parts” They also refused to refund payment although they never completed the job properly. I had the vehicle towed to another repair facility immediately. I would stay far away from here if you value your vehicle.***update madd max/hatter welded the two parts together that do not belong together saying they couldn’t seat the exhaust. The company who corrected the issue sent these additional photos**** The parts did not fit because your tech tack welded the cats together in a place they never had to where you have to physically remove other parts to reach. Which sounds pretty shady to me. As soon as the weld was broken they seated and sealed just fine. The pictures tell it all no need to apologize I will never recommend this shop.

I used to come here a few years ago when they were located on Hillsborough to get my car repairs done. The owner Nick was very friendly and knowledgeable and always explained to me what was going on with my car and what was being done to it with visuals which I appreciated because I’m clueless about cars. Never had any problems and I felt confident leaving. I just found out they don’t do repairs anymore and only do mufflers. Kinda bummed because a good mechanic is hard to come by, but they did recommend another good one.

I spoke to the guys over the phone and explained what I wanted, they said they could do it and quoted me an approximate price. It took me a little to get my car running enough to get it to their shop as I had just rebuilt the motor. I called last minute and asked if they could complete it in one day, they said sure, bring it down and we can discuss the install of the exhaust. Its not very often that you find great shops and then great shops with friendly knowledgeable people, and then to add that they knew about old cars and how to properly install the exhaust for ground clearance. I have built many different classic Ford muscle cars and these guys did BY FAR the best exhaust job Ive had on any of my cars! This shop is fantastic and would recommend anyone to this shop. Thank you again guys for the last minute work, awesome job, and knowledgeable and friendly service! Great experience today on such short notice!

A great experience with having an additional exhaust bung installed for a Wideband sensor yesterday. Due to being in the middle of an ECU upgrade project, I had my car towed to and from the shop. Ive been coming here for years. Their knowledge and attention to detail is exceptional. I had some custom exhaust work done during my last visit and they walked me through the entire process. They even offered up some ideas to make my project come out even better than I had originally anticipated.

Nick, the owner of the shop was very professional and courteous. I own a 2020 Tacoma TRD and they did a 3” lift kit and did a 4 wheel alignment. The job was done in a very professional manner and the truck looks great! He is very honest and cares about his customers. They made sure the job was done correctly. I been to other repair shops and I would say this is far the best experience I’ve had. I highly recommend this shop for all vehicle repair and any customized needs for your vehicle. They do custom wheels and aftermarket accessories. They also put a custom exhaust system on my 1996 Tacoma. The weld job was very clean. I have had nothing but a great experience with mad hatter. I brought in my 2016 charger about a year ago now and had them remove my mid mufflers and it sounded great and the welds were perfect. Very fast and friendly service. Then I just went in about a week ago and they fixed a mistake that someone made trying to remove my resonators and now it sounds perfect again. Very very fast service and very high quality. Definitely will be sending all my business there way

Great group of folks. I brought my new to me Audi in for some minor exhaust work. Im a skilled fabricator so the work needed I knew was easy though not without a lift. Unlike other shops trying sell a full system, Mad Hatters did just what I was asking and needed to fix the leak! Price was decent for the work but the conversation while I waited was worth a little extra. Will certainly return went more work is needed.

BEWARE - I took my truck here to have the front brakes done late 2017 and was charged over $300 for brakes and new rotors. Then about a year later, I took my truck to another mechanic to have everything checked, and guess what? I was told that my front brakes needed to be replaced, and the rotors needed to be resurfaced. I have the receipts from both jobs to prove that it was in fact the FRONT brakes that were done by both mechanics, so my memory is fine.Shame on me for not knowing my stuff and being able to tell that the work was actually done or not.BOTTOM LINE - I was charged over $300 and NO work was done. They simply pocketed the money and told me everything was good to go.Id run away from this place screaming if I were you. Try Duncan Automotive in Oldsmar - only honest mechanic Ive found so far, who not only DOES the work, but does it right and at a fair price. Only reason I tried Mad Hatter was because I was hoping to find someone closer to home. My mistake. Ill stick with Duncan.

Terrible shop. I brought my vehicle to have it lowered on coilovers since I was getting a custom body kit done. Now that I have the kit I’ve noticed that they lowered one side more than the other and now they don’t want to fix the problem they caused. Not to mention I went to get an exhaust put on and they left it with a leak that I had to fix. I’m not one to write bad reviews but just know that they are inexpensive for a reason and it’s not a good one. Won’t be taking my car there ever again.

The first thing I have to say is, these guys are great. I apologize that it has been about 3 months after I had my exhaust done but wanted to make sure these guys get recognized. Everyone seems quick to jump up and criticize service or people and don’t take the time to recognize when deserving. I have a 2018 F-250 with a 6.2 gas engine. I wanted a great sounding true dual exhaust but not to too crazy loud. We went over several options and exhaust exit options. The counter guy called some older (obviously very knowledgeable in the craft) out to look and give an opinion. I was originally looking at something else but decided to go with his suggestions. I have to say I am very pleased I did. The truck sounds fabulous. I have had people pull up next to me and comment on how good it sounds. Now, I don’t know if it was planned or a coincidence, but the attention to detail included making sure that the 2 Thrush mufflers logos were aligned up exactly. Again, attention to detail that I would have done on my own truck. Thanks guys, will come back if I have future biz.

This place always is good to go to. They’ve kept my car running smooth. All my cars! Since coming to Tampa, I’ve been highly satisfied with the work everytime I come here. And for the best price also.

Have been blown away at the level of professionalism and knowledge of Nick and Luis. We’ve been going through my 98 jeep cherokee trying to find a mystery knock and Nick has been very diligent at working through potential problems by eliminating possible problems to find the culprit. Communication has been excellent and these guys know jeeps! On top of everything else the installed a new fuel pump that turned out to be bad (from the parts supplier) and they installed a new one at no charge for parts and labor. Nick always gives you multiple options to replace or rebuild so you can make an educated decision.

I had my mufflers delete on my 2017 mustang ecoboost at this place and ill come back so I could have them remove my resonator next. Very friendly staffs and if you call to schedule an appointment they will start on what you need to be done right away no hassle or asking more questions just get right to it.

I went in early in the morning to drop my car off for an exhaust install and did notify them in advance that I would be able to pick it back up but at around 6:30ish ( an hour and a half after closing).And they were able to work with me! Luis waited for me after closing and went above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service and my vehicle. I was more than happy with everything and will be returning when needed! Let me tell you about my experience with Nick. It started well with me being informed well and my needs met. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. He charged me $140 for a $80 muffler. That I was willing to take. However, it ended up hitting a cross bar on the chassis. I took it back to have him look at it. He told me I just needed a couple of washers added to move the bar a bit away from the muffler. He showed me what was needed, so then I asked him if he could do it. He said Just give me ten minutes and twenty dollars. I told him I wasnt going to do that and it was the wrong answer. Finishing the job properly shouldnt cost any money, especially after already charging nearly double for the muffler. The whole time I was explaining this, he said ok, thank you.tl;dr overcharged and bad customer service

Taken 3 vehicles to these guys and each time Ive gotten great service at a more than reasonable rate. They accurately diagnosed a fuel problem I was having, turned out it was a vacuum line and only cost me $3. Awesome crew in this place. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Called on a Wednesday asked if they had any availability for Thursday i was told to come in early and they will fit me in. Came in 2 mins after opening the next day and was told theirs no availability and that I was supposed to make an appointment and be their 30 mins early. Dont see the sense in coming in 30 mins before opening. They should have set the appointment when I called on Wednesday instead of telling me to just come in.

Luis and the boys up at mad hatter did a fantastic job on my 2015 Chevy Silverado. I had a 6 1/2 inch lift installed with wheels and tires. These guys were super thorough and contacted every step of the process. When a problem arose they called me and explained how it could be mitigated. They will NOT preform work that they do not feel comfortable doing and they will NOT preform work outside of their normal practice unless contacting the customer first. I was extremely hesitant at first as this was my first lift and I could not be happier on the customer service I was give. Very fair in price. Very up front on all work performed. I will use these guys in the future for other projects on my current and future vehicles. GREAT JOB!!!

Ive come here twice and on both occasions have been treated very well. Nick was really helpful in describing what was wrong with the truck before anyone would fix it, showing they keep the customers interest in mind rather than trying to make a profit, which is rare when it comes to auto shops. I was at Mad Hatter Auto Services this morning for an oil change and Nick who runs the place was so nice to me. The price for an oil change is very reasonable. I just forgot to ask Nick what oil was used. Since I have a corolla I hope it was synthetic oil. Please advise. Anyways, I also put a great review on their business website as well. I didnt want to go to my dealership for an oil change since they are so expensive, want a reservation, and always want me to fix something on my car whether it may need it or not. Was not hassled at this place what so ever. Great service. Those that live in Tampa go to this place you wont be disappointed. Thanks again Nick and to your employee who worked on my car. Also, for showing me where to put the washer fluid in my car since I wasnt sure.

Went here today to have my exhaust checked for a leak. Nick the owner went beyond customer service to meet my expectations .My car was brought in almost immediately . And they found my problem right away! They also have a very friendly customer waiting area. These are a great group of people! Very honest. I won’t be taking my car anywhere else . But here! Had a muffler welded in about 10 minutes despite them being really busy. Cost was much lower than I expected. This place is a hidden gem in Tampa. I really liked talking with them, they seem like smart car guys and I will definitely be going back.

Mad Hatter on W. Linebaugh - First off, why is there two Mad Hatter!!?? I made the mistake and went to the wrong Mad Hatter; nonetheless, Luis, Nick and Edwin assured me they knew what they’re doing. I brought 2 mufflers and resonators to be installed along with new piping. Being that they are muffler experts, I asked them would it sound like the sound I described - they said yes, and if it doesn’t they’ll put back the old muffler. They also told me that they were able to put the Magnaflow mufflers to the back, come to find out I was contacted at work and was told Edwin cannot put the mufflers in the back because of the fuel tank. (Wasn’t there a muffler there before???) So, they suggested to put the muffler almost mid range after the resonator- I asked, would I sound the way I want it to, they said yes.So, I went to pick up my car after being at the shop for the whole day which they told me initially that the job would only take 4-5hrs. I dropped the car off at 8am and was told it was finished at 4pm. The first thing I noticed upon seeing the car was that one of the exhaust tips was lean. Then they started the car - it was as it there was no piping. How can you give a customer car sounding like that to drive??? As so called professionals you would have think they would have sent me a video of the sound after installing the mufflers, so that I may decide whether or not I wanted them on. Now that I don’t like the sound they charged me additionally to reinstall the exhaust.This establishment lacks professionalism, know how and most importantly customer service. I would never do business with them again. Take it from me, go the the Mad Hatter on Waters they are cheaper and would provide the best advice.

I came in with brake issues in my work truck and they saw what needed within minutes of checking vehicle and fixed the issue at a reasonable price and at a very efficient rate. I left my truck at 3pm on tuesday and it was ready for me by 10am the next morning. Definitely coming back anytime i need work done on my truck. They were good a year ago but changes in management make me question the quality of work they do now.

Nick & Luis are great mechanics and even better men. I have had a list of repairs done by them (Fuel Pump, Tires, Brakes, Oil Change). They complete the work on schedule and at or below the agreed upon estimate. They explain what is going on with my car without making me feel daft. They have a lot of patience! I would recommend them to anyone (even my Mom) and carry a few extra cards to hand out to other women. Thanks to Nick & Luis and the team!

I brought my car in for an oil change and because the check engine light was on. They did a FREE diagnostic check and told me exactly what needed to be repaired and how much it would cost. Excellent customer service, friendly employees, trustworthy, great prices, very fair, and short wait time. They are honest, and will NOT try to sell you something you do not need, nor pad the bill. In previous repair shops, I felt taken advantage of, by being a woman, and for my lack of knowledge about car repairs. But at Mad Hatter, they took the time to explain everything to me in detail and did not try to pressure me into anything. As a courtesy, they even got on the cell phone with my husband and explained everything to him as well. Will definately be returning for ALL of my car needs and repairs. My husband brings his car in as well, for oil changes and repairs (muffler, etc) and is equally as happy with service. My dad is a mechanic, but lives out of state, and he was always concerned about me finding a good auto repair shop that I can trust and that would do great work for a fair price. He will be happy and relieved that I found exactly that in Mad Hatter! Will recommend to everyone who needs auto service!

Luis and nicks crew are professionals! Bring my car in on the spot to diagnose every time (when not slammed). A recommended go to shop for custom or general work.
