After bringing my car to a few other shops and being turned away because its too low or they dont know how to work on it, I visited Lightning Auto and was met with awesome service. Josh and his team had no issues getting the car on a lift and completing the work for me (at a great price too). At that time, I was also shopping around for shops to do some paint/fiberglass repair and learned that Lightning Auto also has an in-house body shop. Again, my car has a lot of custom fiberglass pieces that most places either wouldnt touch, or would charge a premium price to fix. Josh was completely transparent and let me know that the job would be challenging, but they would get it done for me at a competitive price. I left my car with them for about 5 days to complete the work and Josh was great about keeping me updated through the entire process. When I picked the car up, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of work given how damaged the car was when I dropped it off. I really cant say enough great things about these guys and will always recommend them to anyone looking for a local mechanic. Very transparent and honest, great service, great pricing.

Had to bring my car in on a whim due to a flat tire on my Mercedes today. These guys without hesitation took me right in and started working on my car. After a few minutes I had 4 guys helping me with my difficult issue. After it was all done we had my problem fixed and they got me the best pricing I could ask for. After I’ve been to many different places for Auto repair and body shop I found this place, and I’m so so happy with there service and honesty and very reasonable prices and costumer service I’ve been there to do some mechanic and to change my head lights it’s only took them 17 minutes to replace the head lights knowing that they have to take out the bumper. Absolutely top notch. I took my vehicle in, because my a/c wasnt working. I had taken it to three other shops and they did not make me feel comfortable in their advisement. My vehicle had an electrical issue with the a/c is all they could say and would not give me any kind of pointed answer. Instead, they said we charge by the hour. I took my car to Lightning based upon their reviews. Shane advised me electrical issues are tough to find, but he showed he cared about saving me as much money as possible. They scanned my vehicle and found codes referring to an actuator that controls going from heat to a/c. They replaced the actuator and it fixed the problem. While the other shops were talking about charging by the hour, Lightning found the problem quickly and repaired it at a very fair price. I will not take my car anywhere else in the future.

An honest qualified Family-owned repair shop

These guys always kill it. Great prices and great service. Closest thing to a home town mechanic but still with all the modern technology to handle the more wild jobs. They have been taking care of my 98 jeep and now my 2020 accord for 2 years now. Even when I call around for other prices, they are still the best in town!

I went here to have a used set of tires mounted. Not everyone does this so you have to try multiple places. The shop is organized and the stuff is all friendly. However 3 stars because I feel like I paid a premium (might just be me) for the mount ($100+) and I have tried everything from $40 - $125 for 4 tires. The quality in my opinion is the same. I had multiple paint knicks on my rim paint and a few stains in the interior. If I pay $40 or 50 I expect that not for $125.. I might be to picky but in my opinion it’s not hard to have a plastic protector to protect your rims on the tire unmount machine and for the lug nut - they cost $15 each. I also did not see a torque wrench but most places don’t do that.Well in the end and IMO for a tire mount you might be better of going to a different place and receive the same service/quality for 50% less. I can’t speak for the other Services.

I cant say enough about Lightning Auto. Shane answered the phone immediately when I called. He took the time to answer my questions and quote me an estimate for brakes over the phone. He got me in the same day, without an appointment. Then, after inspecting my vehicle, he told me I had plenty of brake pad remaining on all tires and didnt charge me, even when I insisted on giving him something for his trouble. Now, bear in mind that I took my truck to Shane because the Firestone on MacDill AFB told me the front brake pads were very low and wanted to charge me $650 to replace them. I didnt trust trust Firestone because they tried to charge me almost $100 over MSRP, per tire, for the new set of tires I purchased from them. So, I did some research on auto service shops in Tampa. Saw that Lightning Auto had a 4.9 rating with over 200 reviews (now I know why), and decided to get a second opinion from them. Based on Lightning Autos prices, it would have only cost me about $250 if I had needed front brake pads, which, again, I DIDNT. That means Firestone was going to charge me more than double the price for work I didnt need. Look, if you live on MacDill, like me, I get it: Firestone is close. But, trust me, avoid Firestone. Lightning Auto is just an easy 15 minute drive up the road. Shane is retired military. He will take care of you.

The technicians here were spot on with diagnostics and were able to repair my car to get it back to optimal shape while targeting the source of the problem. I was super surprised. I have lived down the street for a about a decade and always thought this was a body shop. I do a lot of my own work, including some more major projects.I do not have a lift however, or tire machines. I just bought 4 new tires and needed at least two mounted right away because I have an alignment issue.Its saturday, so its a tall order. I wanted something close instead of my usual spot in clearwater because one of my tires was in really bad shape., I found lightening was less than a mile away!I brought it in after a quick call and Shane was more than helpful. What a fantastic experience. It was 2 hours before close but they still took the time to mount my new rear tires I can drive to work again.I will be taking it back when the other two arrive in a few days, and now that I know they are more than body work, I and given the experience I think I found my new local garage for the other projects I have going on!Great company!

No other auto shop in South Tampa compares to this place. I went in twice to get my tires patched, each time completely complimentary (not sure if this a norm here, but when I lived in Miami 3 separate tire shops charged me between $20-$30 for a single patch). The second time I went in for a patch, I had a loose wheel flare from an accident and one of the mechanics reattached it for me. I’ve been asking around for repair estimates since my accident and one itemized estimate from a nearby body shop wanted to charge $60 for a replacement flare + labor, insisting the clips were too damaged to be reattached... lightning auto repair reattached it perfectly, and for free. I’ve not spent a single penny here for patches and minor fixes, and they’ve made a loyal customer of me as a result. Will be coming here soon for my alignment. I recommend this place to everyone, unmatched service and professionalism.

Weve tried this company a couple of times and I am not generally one to write reviews. However, when I feel a company is genuinely not up to par I feel it necessary to warn others. The first time we took my sons 2010 Audi to get an oil change, they found a bad front right axel. They quoted us a ridiculous amount for the part and labor. I was told you cant get aftermarket parts. This was untrue. After I said never mind we would go somewhere else, they suddenly had an option to get used parts at a much lower rate. Suddenly the cost was 1/3 of the original quote so I said go ahead. Once they started the work they proceeded to break more parts in the process of replacing the axel. They called and said, this is what happens sometimes, but your car is on the rack and torn apart and it will be another 700 dollars to fix. So I had no choice. With all of that I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought it back to have them replace the starter last week. They quoted 3 hours labor which seems fair. Again, they get it on the rack, tear it completely apart and call to tell me some wire is exposed and now I need an new harness which will be 325.00, again no option for aftermarket or used parts for a 12 year old car. Then they call me back and say theyve now discovered that replacing this harness, just a 3 foot wiring harness that goes from alternator to starter, is an additional 500.00 in labor! So now the cost is triple, just like last time. At this point I had enough. I told them to forget it and put it back together. The manager had the nerve to then charge us the full cost of the repair, for a 17 year old kid and tout how its my fault that we did not give him a chance while it was on the rack to give another option. He then patted himself on the back and let me know how hes been doing this for 15 years. I will never go there or recommend them to anyone. I purchased the harness for 50.00 aftermarket. I called another mechanic who said they were completely taking advantage of us. He is replacing the starter and the harness for 4 hours labor. Paying him and Lightning Auto for an incomplete job is costing us less than what Lighting was going to charge us altogether.

I went in, because my car was shaking and pulling. I am not a mechanic and I thought I needed an alignment. I was informed alignment will not cause shaking and might cause a pull. However, both may be caused by the same issue. I was advised to allow the mechanic to inspect the vehicle prior to attempting an alignment. Needless to say, when I was taken out to my car, there was more going on and I was shown everything. It was more than I expected, but everything was necessary. I was very impressed with the professionalism, honesty, and the time taken to help me understand instead of just saying I need all of this. My car drives much better. I definitely recommend this shop.

I was told from a corporate tire place that the nail in my tire could not be patched and I needed a new tire. I went to Lightning Auto Repair and Tires for a second opinion and SOOOOO happy I did. They immediately took care of my tire and I was out of there within 10 minutes. They are so efficient and professional. Not to mention, they support the military, which is awesome! This place is amazing. I moved here in June and I was worried about finding a place that wouldn’t over charge me and try to rip me off and I found it here at Lightning Auto Repair. I now only got great customer service but my car was serviced and repaired properly and in a timely fashion. The staff is military friendly and very welcoming. Much more polite than the other places I called to see whom would offer the best deal.I was told by other companies I would pay $60-$110 for an oil change. I paid something like $58. They got me in the same day I called. I would highly recommend that you check this place out if you need any type of servicing, repairs, or body work done to your car and you want to feel safe about who is fixing your car. Also, comfortable waiting room with free water and coffee.

My tire had a slow leak, so I called around 1pm. They told me to stop in with no reservation required. I popped in a few minutes later and within 20 minutes my tire was patched. They had found a drill bit stuck in tire, which was not surprising since there is a lot of construction going on with the Gandy Selmon Extension. With that, the owner says no charge. Wow. Incredible customer service, friendly, and professional. I will be coming back for any future car repair after this experience. Highly recommend to anyone with a car needing service.

Broke a track bar bolt and had to have my Jeep towed here on a Sunday night, they had the bolt replaced and went over the rest of the suspension mounts to make sure everything was on point...had it back by 3pm on Monday and its under $100! Highly recommend!

I was first referred to their business from a friend who has been there a few times. The way he explained it was, most auto shops will try to keep bringing you back, Auto Lightning is the complete opposite. I was looking and researching for a place in a nut shell can sit Bill Currie Ford which they instantly did when I set foot in their office.I had a bucket list and wish list items yet made them a reality in one clean swoop. They took care of me, a new customer, as if I had been there countless times and really took care of me. They took me step by step, reassuring all of my decisions, explaining every step, and listened to me which most places dont. They knew how excited and financial conscience I was of the whole process but really put my fears at ease and came WELL under budget.Now I have a beautiful leveled F150, fixed scratches, fixed front bumper. and am over the moon about the customer service. They went above and beyond and will never see myself at any other place. Referrals and recommendations to friends have been non stop.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Management is always overturning. I had my vehicle in in February 2020, right before Covid lockdown. They replaced my tires. I don’t drive very far between home and work, so when I hit an interstate about a month later, my truck shook so bad at 70mph. I did call and let the then management know. Fast forward to after Covid lockdown, the only day I had available to come in was Sundays, as I’m a single working mother. Low and behold, on my oil change in July, I find that they overtorqued a lug nut. I called yet again, and was belittled and bullied by the new manager Shane. I will be seeking legal recourse for this shop to pay for the damage they caused. DO NOT USE THEM.

I pulled in off of a “word of mouth” referral from one of my colleagues in order to get a tire plugged. They didn’t even charge me. I even talked to the gentleman that performed the repair for quite some time about upgrades I wanted to do to my truck. Long story short I was back a few days later to get new tires. They even painted the fender liners back to the original black color. I have never been so happy to see my truck and how amazing of a job they did. Stopped here while 200+ miles away from home on business and in a panic as my car engine and tire lights went off while driving on Gandy. I was quickly helped and notified after reviewing my vehicle that my issues were a quick fix. Within a half hour, I was back on my way, and so thankful for their help! I stopped in and Lightning Auto Repair and Tires was able to quickly perform a flat repair. The staff is super friendly. I’ll need a set of new tires soon and will go to them for the replacement tires.

Fantastic shop with great people. They got me in 5 minutes before closing to repair a flat. I also turned my vehicle off in the parking lot and quickly realized that my wife had the key still in her purse with her at Walmart (I had just dropped her off). Great or shall I say excellent customer service and for me that goes a long way. Great way to get repeated customers and referrals. Claudette was great with remembering who I was when I showed up a few hours later after I called and she was great with informing me what the technician discovered verses me having to ask about my car.

I just moved here from up north. I came here today cuz I ran over a bolt on my way to work this morning, so I needed a tire repair. I thought I would have to wait 20-30 minutes, maybe longer cuz that’s what I’ve experienced in the past. The time between the lady taken my keys to returning were 5 minutes tops. Then when I asked how much, she said “nothing” I thought I misheard, then she so politely reassured me. On top of which I was already impressed with the speed of the service. Definitely all thumbs up. You just got a lifetime patron.
