Wow! We had a lovely little lunch here. And tasted a few different items from the menu and by the looks of the other food that was coming out of the kitchen, you couldnt go far wrong with anything! We had two childrens sarnies, a jacket and a classic cream tea. Very fresh and delicious. Service was fast...oh...I nearly forgot the AMAZING Oreo milkshake! We took a Halloween cupcake away too, somehow my daughter had room for it after the yummy lunch...and she tells me it is the most delicious cake shes ever had. We are only in this area for two days but intend on heading back for lunch tomorrow again. It was that good and family friendly! Thanks for having us!
Love coming to The Village Tea Rooms to eat.Lovely food with a good choice of gluten free dishes. ( gluten free breakfast pancakes 🥞 are amazing) Friendly staff and great service.
Lovely decor. Fresh, warm, bright and relaxing.Prompt service. Helpful and pleasant waiting staffGood food. Nice choice. Very tasty
The village tea room was very pleasant. It was very crowded but the staff were helpful and friendly.
Nice little tea room. Great cake and reasonably priced.
This is a propa Tea RoomEverything is homemade on site! From scones to cakes to quiches. This can be seen from the clear kitchen as you walk in.The staff were lovely, very friendly and warm.Great selection of teas to choose from.Amazing selection of cakes available, the difficulty is not choosing too many ha!We had a warm scone with propa cream, big warm and soft, Wow!!We popped in here by chance and thoroughly enjoyed our visit, we will definitely visit back here for lunch next time.
Pleasant, traditional service. Nice food and atmosphere overlooking the village green. Recommended.
We travelled to this venue for half an hour and we were sorry we did. Service was slow, incompetent and food below average. Many ingredients were missing from the dishes and, despite asking what type of bread/toast we wanted, it seems as though they just served what they fancied. Toast never arrived (apparently the toaster wasn’t working) but no apologies or explanation, printer for the receipts didn’t work either. Apart from the manager, who tried her best, the young girls were rude and not interested in providing any customer service. The manager was apologetic and offered us 50% off the bill. A nice gesture but quite frankly it was like a scene from Fawlty Towers and even that amount was far too much. Unfortunately we would not go back to see if they improve.
Great service and lovely afternoon tea! Cakes were lovely and moist, good selection of sandwiches and the scones were delicious!
I first visited the tearooms yesterday afternoon with my family.. i am planning my second visit very soon. The service we received was attentive, kind,Very helpful and obliging. The food was excellent just as the service.Thank you to the tea rooms for a lovely afternoon. There is parking near by.
Not as good as it used to be. Tables were not cleaned, I had to asked for the the table next to me to be cleared of dirty plates but they only part cleaned the table it still had not been cleaned bye the time we had left I had a ham sandwich very disappointed, I was expecting ham off the bone, not thin cut ham with no taste from your local supermarket .my wife had a cream tea the scone was very small (only one) no butter not enough cream .
Not impressed with the service. Kept waiting despite only one other table initially occupied, coffee when it arrived was cold and we gave up trying to order cake after half an hour, watching new customers being served. We were eventually told they were short staffed but they seemed very keen to serve the customer who appeared to be on a Groupon deal, strange approach for a country cafe...
Great little restaurant, nice people, good service, good food. One suggestion - Curtains or drapes or even carpeting would improve the sound environment which is very harsh and echoey.
Visited twice with family, excellent choice of food, Hot chocolate as it says hot highly recommended.
Very clean. Nice food. Covid safe
Friendly team, lovely little tea room with plenty of delicious options from cakes, sandwiches and afternoon tea
Yesterday had a cream tea in celebration of my birthday. Food was excellent service was great and would definitely recommend the Village Tea Rooms. Thank u
Very good service very good food cant wait to go back
Lovely tea room opposite the green in this pretty village. Good menu choice but think its slightly expensive.
Just picked up my mothers day order of cupcakes. First time Ive picked up cakes that look exactly the same as advertised. Really beautiful, thank you x
Super friendly lovely staff and very tasty scones
Had a cream tea with Darjeeling tea as it has been recommended and it didnt disappoint, clotted cream and strawberry jam, whats not to love?
Rip off. Pre ordered the afternoon tea for 3 people on a Tuesday so we received 50% off. The afternoon tea was originally £16pp so we paid £8 each and what we received wasn’t even worth £8pp... and honestly if I had ordered that and had to have paid £16 I would of refused to pay. The sandwiches were egg mayo, cheese and pickle, ham and pickle and tuna mayo - firstly the absolute cheapest most boring sandwiches you can make and secondly sandwiches that you would feed a 5 year old. The scones were really nice, can’t complain about those. The tearoom itself has loads of beautiful cakes and brownies displayed on the side but did we receive any of those? Of course not.... the cakes we received were slices of a tray bake sponge cake with either cream and jam or cream and lemon curd on top and 3 macaroons. Complete lack of effort and not worth the £24 we paid for it. My 2 year old enjoyed it though.
Stopped off for tea and cake. Excellent food and service.
Highly recommended, been here many times over the last 3 years, I live in Dagenham in Essex. I come here when I let my racing pigeons go for training from the green opposite. Lovely staff and always made welcome..
Came here for a baby shower, nothing overly special about the venue nor the food, not great for vegans as they told the host it wouldn’t be a problem. There was butter in the vegan sandwich, was then given fruit & sorbet. No vegan alternative to the scones nor was there a selection of vegan sandwiches just spinach and humous. Staff didn’t look the friendliest but overall attitude was ok.
Nice place nice staff good cake
Great food lovely environment
Socially distanced ordering and collection. Tasty toasty.
First ever visit, delicious breakfast and lovely staff. Will definately return and highly recommend a visit to this top class place.
Easy to find and with plenty of free spaces, right outside, The Village Tea Room great place for a quick lunch, sandwich, piece of quiche or their all-day breakfast.Once past a slightly disconcerting entrance you are greeted by warm smiles from a veritable swarm of smartly uniformed staff. I did fear this would be an expensive tea room, judging by the number of staff, but I was pleasantly surprised when my pot of tea and quiche with generous salad came in at under a tenner. Not bad for fast and friendly table service, especially when the quiche was probably the best Ive ever had!Highly recommended.
Beautiful tea room in a beautiful village.
Really not bad at all!... Came here for a full English that wasnt the best Ive had but still EXACTLY what I needed. The price of everything here was incredibly reasonable as well and the staff were absolutely excellent.Plenty of seating and really nicely laid out little cafe with a ton of lovely looking cakes and treats. Will definitely come back in future.
Went in with the intention of ordering toasties and cream teas. We weren’t greeted or advised if we should find our own table or wait to be seated. After we got someone’s attention and asked we were told to sit anywhere and someone would clear the table. We sat down, asked someone sat at another table for menus, watched a waitress bring food to another table and walk past our dirty table, then saw another waitress clear an empty table. The final straw was when they served someone who had arrived after us. We left without placing an order and went to Tea on the Heath where we were given a very warm welcome, and had delicious food.I won’t be going back to the village tearoom anytime soon I’m afraid.
Very busy today but got a table for 2. Probably worth booking before you go. Had brunch of two poached eggs on granary with mashed avocado. Really scrummy. Only issue was due to it being busy we waited for a bit longer than normal to be served. Lovely staff.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Lovely fresh scones with jam and cream. A great range of teas that come infusing in little teapots. Highly recommended.
Cute tea room. Polite and friendly staff, clean tables. Nice coffee and range of herbal teas, good cakes and fresh tea cakes. Whats not to like !
The service was absolutely top-notch. Very attentive staff and the cakes were delicious.
My mum booked me afternoon tea for my birthday treat and choose to come here, we should of walked away as soon as we stepped in as we was greeted in a rush was told to go and sit at the table over there which we sat down 20 minutes later had someone else come over ask if we wanted a drink, then we watched the tables around us get served as soon as they sat down, the food was lovely but the customer service was just a let down no one smiles in there not a nice atmosphere atall.
Have always wanted to go there and wasnt disappointed ..loved it cant wait to go again the quality of the food is 1st class and such a choice of menu lovely atmosphere and friendly staff and very pleasant outlook onto the green.food is all home cooked and the cream teas are gorgeous..well worth a visit this tea rooms is a must.
Really friendly staff, great menu and cake selection, the chocolate brownies were delicious!!!
Booked an afternoon tea for 1.30 on Sunday. Arrived to find a note on the door saying they were closing at 2.00 for a private party. Manageress not really bothered. Tea was ok, scones were fabulous. Served by Connor who was the best thing about it. A call to let us know about the early closing would have been appreciated - we would have changed dates.
Lovely breakfast. Food was good. Good quality sausages and bacon. Well poached eggs.Service was friendly. Mid-morning on a Tuesday so the tea rooms were quiet. Food arrived promptly. Would visit again
I have mixed feelings about sharing this review today. If it hadn’t have been a special Mother’s Day afternoon tea event, I may not have even bothered.A Table booked for 2 PM was not ready. We were kept waiting without an explanation for 15 minutes whilst other customers that came in after us were showed to their tables. When I explained that these customers had come in after me I was told that was not the case and to move aside. After 20 minutes my mother could no longer stand waiting due to her disability and she felt due to the poor service and rudeness of the waitress it would not be appropriate to stay.I did address my concerns to the manager who I feel was just overwhelmed with how busy they were and unaware of what was going on.She did apologise but seemed unconcerned about how we had been treated and did little to try to put things right.Unfortunately the atmosphere was lost and we left.Although I have always enjoyed my previous visits to the tea room I would not be confident in booking for an event again any time soon.
A nice place to have an Afternoon Tea with Cake or perhaps a lunch. You can park outside the Tea room or in the local free car park
Lovely food. I do recommend it.
Lovely Friendly Staff, well looked after and Superb Food
Absolutely loved this place great cakes great staff only down side is parking thats why only have 4 stars
Lovely food. Country setting overlooking village green. Good service.
Very nice and friendly.
A small village cafe attached to the post office overlooking the village green. Home made food always appetising.
If you fancy a nice lunch or a cake/coffee than l would recommend eating here.
We really loved this place, stunning on a warm day watching the cars bubble past and a good breadth of choice on the menu. They really get what a milkshake should taste like too, their Oreo milkshake was the nuts!
Nice food but not cheap. Parking is on street and limited.Very slow service.
Food good. Service good. Recommend a visit. P.Thomson 🌼😘🎂
Really lovely afternoon tea with some of the family food was excellent, its a busy little cafe with friendly staff best to book to get a table
Beautiful tea room food. Breakfast was lovely and staff are nice enough.Building is a little dated but many may like that feel.
The worst place Ive ever been to....20 minutes to get somebodys attention to take the order...feel like they are doing us a favour! !!Finally got food after waiting over 1 hour!!!Do not recommend & will definitely not return!!!
Service food and staff always excellent!
Lovely place for a cuppa a a catch up, great food too
Very good food and service. Good idea to book as always busy. Great cream tea.
Love this place. Good food and friendly service
Very nice food... a little wait but worth it. Service very goid cheerful staff.
Service very slow. tables too close, felt very claustrophobic. Food was nice.
We use the tea rooms as a stop whilst on bike ride and find them very inviting. The food is good with excellent customer service
Food excellent as is menu. But service very poor.Had to go to counterto order even though 5 staff stood chatting!(as did another person)Floor could be cleaner, bottle top and pieces of plastic left on floor.
Great stop for coffee on a cycle ride..Good selection of coffee - well made (not just a push button experience)When they have cakes in theyre great - but have been a couple of times when theyve been out / have a very limited selection.
Love this place, beautiful location, friendly welcoming staff and possibly the best cooked breakfast I have ever had.
Always meet up with a old friend at the tea rooms absolutely great team and food.
Didnt actually go in, but we did drive past and it looked nice.
Service service service!!! Its incredibly frustrating when the venue is lovely and the food looks great but youre just ignored! We came into the tea room where theres 12 tables and 6 staff and we werent acknowledged. So we took a seat and waited.... and waited and waited. After 10 minutes we decided to speak to the staff at the counter and incredulously they asked if we wanted to pay! Eventually we placed an order and waited again! In this time we watched 3 couples come and go without ordering (because they too were ignored) and one couple having half their order brought and half their order forgotten leaving a quite elderly woman without food. There was easily enough staff to cope, its just there was no organisation whatsoever!!The cream tea was ok, but with service this ropey no one would bother coming back! Sort it out!!
Food looked great but so busy and not enough staff made waiting times unacceptable.
Was good but gone downhill. Focussing on posh after noon teas. Wait ages for a toastie.
Very lovely atmosphere and very lovely food. Also it is very good value for money.
Very friendly and good service, always stop off after a long walk
A beautiful afternoon tea cakes to die for in a lovely village and nose staff
Very nice friendly and child friendly nice food
I frequently use this tea room but on 1 February had no Pasties or no scones was deeply disappointed it would have been courteous to have been warned before ordering our pot of tea.
Not so keen myself. The latte was weak and tasteless and our table was in a gap between the shop and the tea room. Every time someone walked in or out, we were knocked by their bags. I wouldnt say the tea room was horrid but it felt more like a normal cafe than a village tea room.
Love the new ideas to the refurb and cant wait to see it finished! Such friendly staff and great food
Great selection of cakes as well as cooked meals. Very reasonable prices.
Comfortable surroundings and decent service. Quiet place for a relaxing break and the food is lovely
Friendly Staff good service enjoyable Tea 🍰 and Sandwiches. Many thanks regards Linda and Mick.
Great afternoon tea, thoroughly enjoyed it must do it again. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very busy. Nice and efficient though
Lovely food at a very good price. Very friendly staff.
A lovely tea shop
Friendly staff and decent food. Popular with cyclists and they couldnt be more accommodating.
Cyclists love this place great latte scones ice cream brekkie lovely staff too
12:30 sitting. Asked for more tea + waited 30 minutes for it! Then told at 13:50, they were closing at 14:00! It was our Christmas get together + people had travelled a long way. Had to ask staff several times even for cutlery. Overall abrupt staff.
Sandwiches as expected, good range of teas, service a little slow when visiting at popular times
Superb. Coffee and scone with jam and cream served with a smile for just £6
A bright clean teashop with friendly staff and a varied menu of cakes, sandwiches and light snacks. It incorporates a small delicatessen and Village Post Office.
Nice little tearoom attached to tiny shop, went there for afternoon tea and it was very busy with people being turned away. Wed booked a table for five which wasnt ready and they had to clear other tables first and put them together for us. Sandwiches provided were standard cheese and pickle, egg and cress etc, scones with clotted cream and jam were lovely and decent sized pieces of cake were also included. They have a large selection of teas to choose from, but it wasnt till we were paying they told us the ones wed chosen werent included in the afternoon tea package, so had to pay more.
Very lovely afternoon tea. Fresh cakes and scones were fabulous
Nice food, good selection and good service
Absolutely disgusted by this place! I took my mum there for an afternoon tea. The service was horrible we had to sit on a table that hadn’t been cleaned and we got squeezed onto it, I had my husband and toddler with us.Waited 40mins with no communication,no drink, not even the tea, my son begun to cry as it was very crowded but because he was hungry.I went up to find out what was going on and got told rudely that they are busy and can’t give me a waiting time frame.I demanded to speak to the manager who they had to phone and she was not happy to speak to me, I could hear her asking why does she want to speak to me and said there is nothing she can do, perfect example of bad customer service! Is this how you run a business? I could go on and on but in the end we just left, we had booked this via groupon and I tell you it is the very first and last time I would ever go this so called tea room!No parking on site either ! Extremely small tight space ! Horrible service attitude from staff ! Good luck with your future !
Lovely breakfast. Good service. Lovely view overlooking Heath.
