Ice cream was good, but why is there an automatically included 15% tip? Raise prices and pay your workers more; don’t stealthily force your customers to subsidize the wages of those you employ. As others reviewers have noted, prices are nowhere to be found anyway, so tacking a 15% surcharge onto the bill is particularly egregious and outright deceptive. What’s more, the tipping option on the iPad terminal remains available, so you may mistakenly and unknowingly tip on top of the 15% already included.
As a caveat, I’d like to explain that I very rarely ever leave negative reviews. Especially for vegan restaurants. I believe that a plant-based lifestyle is incredibly important for creating a sustainable economy and a better world for every living thing on this planet. Generally, if a vegan business is disappointing, I just wish them well and hope they improve the next time I try them. Before posting this, I also left positive reviews for Plum Bistro and the other franchises this family owns because my wife and I love everything else we’ve tried. Now that I’ve balanced out my karma and explained why I’m not usually one to participate in bashing vegan restaurants, I want to be frank: this place is terrible. My wife and I ordered ice cream and a blizzard. We mostly did so out of guilt because we’d sampled nearly every flavor, hoping that each grainy, overly sweet, and nearly flavorless sample must’ve been an aberration. Unfortunately, they were all really disappointing and we threw our treats away after taking a few bites (and a hefty 15$ chunk out of our wallet).I love ice cream -especially vegan ice cream. I’d strongly recommend going to Frankie and Joe’s (no, I’m not being paid to advertise for them) instead. I’d also prefer a scoop of rice dream or some other generic brand from Safeway (which is also underwhelming but costs a fraction of the price) than the ice cream we had here.
Delicious vegan dessert shop with baked goods and ice cream. The price is high end but worth it. Where else can you find a vegan brownie or cookie blizzard??? The cake and croissants are also good, and samples are available. Theres nice outdoor seating and good service too.
Always friendly customer service! Fresh VEGAN treats. It can get pricey if youre grabbing goodies for several people.
Just had the most amazing soy free and gluten free brownie. Think CHOCOLATE! It was most and yet not too sweet, rich and chocolatey. A wonderful dessert.
Took the kids here just to be turned away. Next time you should update your hours so we dont waste our time.
I sampled all the flavors and they were all very good, tasty but not overwhelmingly sweet. I ended up having the avocado soft-serve, salted-caramel apple pie, and a cake pop. Props! On top of it all, staff member Sonja was very personable and exemplifies great customer service.
Very cute cafe! Simple limited menu and cute interior. Got the boar ice cream and match latte and both tasted great! Its on the pricier side but I left happy.
Oat milk based, so sweet and creamy. Carrot Cake and Apple Caramel Cheesecake were awesome flavors. Gluten free cones available!
Wasnt the biggest fan of this place. Only got the ice cream, although they did give us a free cupcake and cookie, which were much more exciting. We were there near closing and they were still super helpful and nice, even after we dropped our ice cream. I was going to probably try it another time, but not sold after the first go and would maybe recommend something other than ice cream.
Wonderful selection of plant-based goodies and ice cream. Helpful and friendly staff at the ready to blend it all together in a delicious cacophony of sugar and fat-fuelled perfection. Which is exactly how it should be :)
It was our first time at Sugar Plum tonight. The treats were great and well priced. The girl behind the counter was very kind and prompt, but obvious ill, sneezing and sniffling the entire time we were there. Made me feel unsafe to eat our treats and we ended up not finishing them. She was obviously trying to push through it and put on a smile, but it did scare us a bit.
This is the best (albeit the only) vegan icecream shop Ive been to! Great, seasonal options that are all decadently delicious. And the staff was so patient with my tasting and indecisiveness. Well be back!
Ive only been here once, so I cant speak to everything on the menu. I got the seasonal pumpkin ice cream. it was amazing. I liked it more than Frankie and Jos. It is cute inside although only outdoor seating.
Smallest scoop of ice cream Ive ever seen, and the worker told me the wrong price before I ordered. Acted offended when I politely confronted them about being asked to pay a significantly higher price than theyd told me 3 minutes before. Plum is super popular but they really dont have their act together as a business of integrity.
Vegan ice cream (scooped and soft serve) on a cone or in a cookie sandwich. Vegan desserts like cheesecake, brownies, and cupcakes. So good!
They should bring back the vegan Flurries! I heard great things and wanted to try one but when I went they said that they no longer made them. The vanilla soft serve was still delicious, and the other desserts also looked great. The chocolate mint avocado ice cream tasted sort of avocado-y in a bad way, and really didnt taste like ice cream, but it was still alright. It would be great if they had more flavor options for soft-serve, because its very difficult to find vegan soft serve anywhere, and the only thing better than vanilla soft serve is vanilla soft serve with various tasty things swirled in it. Definitely worth a trip, even for the hard-packed ice cream. Maybe just not the mint chip.
Ive never left disappointed, its a great place to stop in and grab a vegan ice cream cone or some cheesecake. Their flavors usually vary, but last summer I had a mint Oreo hemp softserve which was pretty killer.
I was very excited to come here and get all the stuff they show in the pictures, but all they had was soft serve (one flavor) and gross cupcakes. Would not recommend coming here.
Came here for a 4th of July barbecue. There food was to die food. The best part of the whole meal was the cake and soft serve that was from sugar plum. I didnt know it was possible to get soft serve this great, while still being vegan. Will be back for the soft serve!
Great coffee, iced latte with hemp milk. Great staff, friendly and helpful
Hours not updated and no phone number added, looks empty
My brother in-law never thought hell eat ice cream again after discovering he was lactose intolerant. Then I founded this little cool place and changed his world !
Got some brownies here ($1.50 for day-old baked goodies!) yesterday and they were DELICIOUS. Will definitely be coming back for ice cream sandwiches when its warmer!
The best plant based desert place Ive visited and Im sure to visit again shortly.
Get the vegan soft ice cream fabulous
Not bad but have had much better vegan ice cream else where. Perhaps it was the day I went?
Service was friendly, the cookies and softserve ice-cream were delicious. Well definitely be returning.
So in all fairness, I would like to say that I am a regular “plum customer”. The own a restaraunt in Tacoma “A Quickie Too”, which I frequent often. The also have Plum Bistro which is normally amazing! We had just got done eating there. They all have been great. That is why I am giving two stars. Except this last time that I went to “Sugar Plum”. I went last Friday, Oct 6. I went in at 1:58 (2 minutes before they had officially opened). There was a girl and a guy working in there. It appeared that the girl was teaching the guy about the store. I went in and she yelled we are not open until 2:00 even though here sign had said open. She pushed me outside and wanted me to wait until 2:00, Which I kinda get, except her manner and unprofessionalism is were I had the issue. Long story short I waited out there until 2:09. When she had finally opened and unlocked the door, “I asked her if it was ok to come in now since it was 2:09.” Which again I may had pushed her buttons but for making someone wait out there for over ten minutes because I walked in two minutes early was unacceptable. The guy in there was amazing and was completely willing to help. She was so rude, walked in front of me, saying “ excuse me in a sarcastic way” when she could have clearly walked around the cabinet or went behind me. I was completely appalled. The other issue I now have is that all plums (in Seattle area - at least) are now charging and “service fee” as a guaranteed tip to help their employees. I feel that this should not be a standard practice. I think they should just raise their prices if anything. I would have/and normally do tip for great service. I felt in this instance I would have not tipped her anything but I would have tipped the guy more than what they were already adding on as a service fee.I don’t think I will ever return to any plum locations including the new salad place next door to Plum bistro. The food is always great service has only been the issues at all locations
Amazingly good desserts, the pannaple ginger lemon ice cream was great.
Great little place with some delicious soft serve next to some other fun dessert options!
Cute place. Delicious vegan soft serve!!!
Business is gone.
Was extremely disappointed with the brownie I bought. I ordered the salted caramel brownie. It was missing caramel, salt, and moisture. That was the driest brownie Ive ever had and it had soggy pretzels on top. That brownie was NOT cheap, Im very dissapointed that I wasted my money.
We came to this place specially, and there was a note on the door saying back in a few minutes. We waited in the cold for about 40 minutes when we finally gave up and went to Frankie and Joes for a wonderful ice cream.
Great vegan ice cream The soft serve is particularly good.
Amazing vegan desserts, I would definitely recommend the Oreo blizzard and banana split
Great service, with a smile. Fantastic Food!!
Best ice-cream ever! Cheers!
Beyond delicious ice cream!
Rude worker never coming back. Didn’t help me told me menu wasn’t up to date and didn’t give me options.
The banana split and baked goodies are divine.
Nice place to get a Vegan Treat. A tad overpriced for what you get with regards to the floats.
Nice completely vegan dessert place!
Been waiting outside (its 18:00 now) the store for 30 minutes. There was a hand written sign saying Be right back, yet, alas, no one came... BUMMER
Super delicious vegan treats!
Surprisingly delicious vegan ice cream!
They dont show prices for pastries or ice cream anywhere. Also the lady that was working there was not very friendly
This place will make me fat, I’ll eat here everyday if I can
Wish you still had vegan blizzards
Very good
Great sweets
AMAZING vegan desserts!!!!
