Espresso was good. Cupcake was dry and crumbly but frosting and filling were good

We bought: blueberry brown betty, tiramisu, royal with cheese, and cookies & cream.The cupcakes were fluffy, and our order came out to ~$18.50 before tipping.The entry door says to “pull hard” and they really mean it!

A very nice place for girls has a pink atmosphere with nice paintings on the wall, they sell cupcakes and ice cream .. I ordered the coconut cupcake it was a little too sweet and the coconut flavor was lost. I also ordered the salted caramel was not very good I could not finish eating it. The prices were decent and the staff too.

I cant believe how cheap espresso drinks are here! I got the largest size with en extra shot, and my friend got the same thing without the extra. So two vanilla lattes with 9 total shots. And it was less than $10!!!

Really good baked treats that arent too sweet. There frosting on the cupcakes dont overpower the cake portion of the cupcake. Their cookies are really good at well I just wish they were a little bigger especially for the price. The coffee is pretty good and theres a nice seating area to sit.

I LOVE this place. The atmosphere is so cool at the Ballard location, but the food is good no matter which local you visit. The selection is stellar. Ive had the Elvis,( p.b. banana and bacon), peach cobbler, eggnog Snicker doodle, and Strawberry Champagne, my favorite.They also offer gluten free and baby cupcakes,( minis), ice cream and tasty beverages.Their ice cream is too die for! I highly recommend the tripple vanilla, also available at Metropolitan Market. Its like no vanilla you have ever tasted. They also serve Stump Town Coffee, so I highly recommend getting a latte to dunk your cupcake in.Oh, they also have doughnuts!Bring the fam and get your sugary snack on.

Fun seasonal flavors as well as classics like the Dance Party (White cake and pink buttercream frosting). The cakes are pretty dense with a fine crumb, definitely need a coffee or milk while enjoying. They do have a mobile app for points and rewards and paying.

Red velvet ice cream and cupcake are my repeat buys. Everything else is worth trying once, but doesnt wow me. Little pricey for dessert but nice to try once in a while. Rotation of seasonal items so come back regularly to see what is new.

Considering this places business revolves around cupcakes, I would have expected the cupcakes to be more moist and less sweet. Ive made cupcakes from a box that had better tasting cake than what I had here. The icing is way too sweet. It should be more flavorful, and they should try things like cream cheese based icing instead of increasing the sweetness. People get tired of sugar and the amount they use is unhealthy - not that cupcakes could ever be healthy, but they could be less unhealthy.I was with 3 other people, and Im not sure if they all felt the same way about the sweetness of the icing, but we unanimously agreed that the cake was way too dry. When we picked the cupcakes up out of the box, the cupcake top would fall right off of the rest of the cupcake.They were having a buy 1 get 1 free deal when we went, and we went around 4pm. Even with the buy 1 get 1 free the price felt a little steep, but Im not from Seattle. Maybe they did this sale because they knew their cake was dry that day, but their original prices are so high that half price still felt like a rip off. The cupcakes they had that day werent something Id eat if they were free. Imagine solidified confectioners sugar on top of cake that was cooked twice as long as it should have been. Do you want that?

Received the wrong cupcakes in my order yesterday. I ordered 6 cupcakes. Pretty simple. 3 of one type, 3 of another type. Since I gave my name with the order and picked it up by name at the store a few hours later I assumed there would be no problem. Due to the pandemic and the long lines I didnt want to open the box and inspect the order on the spot. Now I wish I had. When you pay $31 (with tip) for 6 chocolate cupcakes and dont find chocolate cupcakes when you open the box at home, well, it was disappointing to say the least. I even described the 2 types of cupcakes to the clerk when I picked them up so I assumed (I think reasonably) that the proper cupcakes were in the box. Maybe he gave me someone elses box? Very sad to pay what I feel is a premium and not get what I ordered.

Cupcake Royale has you covered in all of the above situations with their *delicious* cupcakes, and also stellar ice cream.Whats more, is that they have *amazing* gluten-free cupcakes *and* ice cream flavors (just make sure you go before the late afternoon or early evening--they do sell out occasionally). As someone who sorely misses authentic-tasting gluten-free desserts, I can confirm that the cupcakes here are probably the best GF dessert Ive ever had. Full stop.So anyway, stop in as a special treat, or ya know, on a Tuesday--there is no wrong occasion to eat cupcakes.

Cupcakes like you wish that you could make, better than moms.. Great espresso. I didnt give it 5 stars because I find it a bit too pricey and I dont find the interior space inviting or very conducive to sitting down and relaxing and conversing. Its ambiance is that of a high school cafeteria, with killer cupcakes.

I used to love this place. Its cute and the service is always stellar. I was near thus location and o decided to stop in and get my favorite cupcake. I love the Kate I always request one (ok, more like 2 or 3) for my birthday at the end of summer. This was a special treat. It was a little sad that at non they had sold out of several different flavors. I did get 2 Kate cupcakes and they just didnt taste the same as I remembered. Kind of dry. 😢 I wont be getti g these for my birthday this year. ☹ I will try again in the fall when they (hopefully) have the carrot cake cupcake. 💗

While I miss the original Seattle ambiance and decor, I still love their cupcakes the best. I often order ahead online for parties or holidays and they are always a hit. Love the classic and lavender the best but they never disappoint no matter what flavor you get. Coffee is great too!

What can I say? Cupcakes are to die for. In any flavor. My favorite is probably red velvet with cream cheese topping. Their espresso coffee is also quite tasty. Cant go wrong getting dessert here!

Nice clean place with gourmet cupcakes and ice cream. The little peanut butter/chocolate topping was really good, but the cupcake itself was rather dry. For $4 a cupcake i would have liked the cupcake to be a bit more moist.

Cupcake Royale is the winner of Worst Chai in Seattle. I have been visiting every business around Seattle for two months in search of the best chai. This one clocked in at the bottom due to tasting like hot water with a single peppercorn inside-- we ended up throwing it away after two sips. It should really be taken off the menu; it discredits the rest of their business.During my visit, the majority of cupcakes were already sold, pointing towards successful cakes across flavors. The atmosphere was cute and inviting, charmingly feminine. They also sold mixes for icing and cakes, as well as an extended menu for drinks (though they seem to do much better with the cupcakes). The staff were friendly and kind, sharing the deals of the day with patrons without being overbearing.

I think I died and went to heaven! These cupcakes are perfectly light and fluffy and the frosting wasnt overly sweet. I tried the Blueberry Brown Betty, the Raspberry Lemonade and The Kate and they were all so good! The cupcake to frosting ratio was also perfect.

They are always just soo delicious and now that they deliver. ....fabulous. Had knee surgery and the Mariners were in need of some help. 20 minutes later (how great is that), got my cupcakes, and the Mariners are now in the lead. The power of the cupcake!Thanks also for always being so nice!

I went to this place on my way to dinner to pick up some cupcakes for me and my girls. Although the cupcakes look enticing I was dissatisfied with the lack of variation. Other than a couple of flavours everything else was a dry textured vanilla or chocolate cupcake with a stingy amount of flavoured icing on top. I got 6 of them and they were all a little underwhelming. I’m wondering if I should have gotten a different baked good instead...I will definitely keep my eyes open for another spot for cupcakes next time I’m in Seattle.

Avoid the donuts and the Cappuccino. There is much better coffee at the thousands of other cafés around Ballard (like at Ballard Coffee works, literally next door). Donuts are only good when served fresh (like, with in the 30 to 60 minutes they are made), which is not the case with the Royal Cupcake.However, I foolishly have yet to try their cupcakes, which are probably really good. But the above advice is very good.

This is a great place to pop in for a sweet treat when I want a break from all the intense window shopping in Ballard. The staff is always friendly and the cupcakes are loaded with sugar. Paired with the coffee, Cupcake Royals salted caramel cupcake is one of my favorite ways to indulge.

A bit pricey but I really enjoyed their cupcakes! Will often go there to get desserts for friends and family :) Highly recommend!

Super dry cupcake. Got a lemon one and it was horrible. Paid almost 5 dollars for it and threw it away.

The confections, and ice cream are dreamy, you can request to sample before buying and they will accommodate for alternative milk if you desire.

My cupcake was soft and light and not too sweet. Enjoyed a cup of delicious local chai, too. The ladies behind the counter were very cheerful and friendly. Parking wasnt as difficult as Id expected, either. Very good experience, overall.

I ordered 12 cupcakes for Easter Sunday Dessert. They were ready for me at the specified time.However, All Dozen Cupcakes Were DRY!!! $43 for the dozen. Their cupcakes are great with several flavor options but I have recently been on a kick for their ice cream. They have some seriously delicious flavors and for a non-ice cream purist like myself I like ice cream with a lot going on in them and a lot mixed in. Their ice cream has just that. Their boozy banana chocolate fudge ice cream is to die for. Service is friendly too and their location is convenient.

Nothing like homemade cupcakes of many flavors as well as ice cream. So naturally, you may choose to have a cupcake sundae. Best of both worlds. I had a tiramisu cupcake with banana caramel fudge ice cream. Really scrumptious. Now you may want to opt for them separately because they could almost overwhelm the flavors of each, but I definitely didnt regret it. They do have coffee, Stumptown, for those of us who live in the Pacific Northwest.

Excellent cupcakes, oddly (because they shoot for being hip) I occasionally get a snooty vibe from the staff but whatevs. I did love the donuts they had but theyve discontinued them.

The cake is too sweet. The frosting is soooo sweet you can’t really taste the buttercream. All the flavors tend to taste the same or really close to it because of the sugar issue. That said I’m not a big fan of cake in general so I’m biased, you should try it and see what you think for yourself!

Cmon, who doesnt love me killer cupcakes and a pro-woman business that repeatedly donates money to a variety of causes! What sold it was the cake part is tasty on its own, unlike overrated joints like Magnolia (Manhattan). The buttercream frosting, also spot on, nicely balanced and not too fatty or cloyingly sweet. Ice cream is another bonus here, so many unique and addictive flavors. The staff is another plus for this location, everyone is super nice and friendly, love talking with them!

We went in for a cupcake happy hour which is a substantial deal on the normal prices at buy 3 get 3 free. They had to be eaten that night per the boxs instructions, so you might need some help from friends if you arent into binge eating. The cupcakes didnt wow me but maybe thats because they were a day old and have no preservatives.

I have to say Ive always enjoyed cupcake royale although yesterday I was really bothered by our expirience with one of the workers. My mom, sisters and I had walked in lastnight for dessert because it was my sisters birthday. There was a gentleman with short brown hair that smiled and welcomed us right away, he was very nice and ready to help us. It was only until another man behind the counter walked up, he had long brown hair, glasses and was wearing a beanie hat. That man then started staring at each and every one of us with the biggest look of hate and disgust while the other friendly worker packed up our order and did everything. I have to say that was the most awkward, bizzar and horribly rude experience ive ever experienced in a buissness. If looks could kill wed have all been dead instantly.

I know the title says cupcake royale but this place has the BEST ice cream. I highly recommend their novelty items like the hot salty mess! The perfect blend of salted caramel ice cream, espresso, and hot fudge. I dream about it sometimes! And if you want ice cream but also want cupcakes they have mini sundae options that rock your taste buds. Also the interior is funky and pink and edgy at the same time. Number 1 reccomended ice cream IMO.

I love the Cupcake Royale downtown and maybe it was an off day but I got 6 cupcakes to go for a get together a couple of hours later. The service was fast but the staff was rude and both the Cupcake and the frosting were dry and crumbly. Needless to say my friends werent impressed and no one managed to finish their cupcake. I wont be returning to this location, but they do have a nice location in old Ballard and if you are willing to give them a shot I hope you have a different experience.
