Drove an hour to get there. Waited 20 minutes while they assisted a customer in using her email. There attempt to fix was what I told them I already went through with Apple Tech Support. Then told me it would be three days before they could even look at it, and another five if it needed parts. Tell me why anyone would go there and not just send your Macbook to Apple directly. Unless of course, you need help checking your email.

I cannot stress enough how incredibly helpful, smart, and respectful the staff is here. I was helped by MIKE and LEVI and they went above and beyond my expectations to make transitioning from a laptop dying due to water damage to a new laptop purchase easy and safe amidst this pandemic. I called multiple stores in my area and no employees were wearing masks. Mike and Levi came outside to my car to take care of all transactions. They were kind and courteous and extremely professional. Sarasota is so lucky to have this team at Computer Advantage. Thank you so much.

I am so impressed with Computer Advantage. I had a damaged iPhone 11display and had taken it to an unauthorized place to get it fixed. It was not working as well after that. I called Computer Advantage, who by the way is an authorized place to work on apple products and they were able to help me that same day. Eric was very knowledgable and friendly. I highly recommend Computer advantage.

Wow. These guys think they have us over the barrel with Apple closed. Dropped off MacBook Air for wha should bee simple keyboard fix and they come back with a $600 repair... really. And we agreed to $45 diagnosis and they wanted to charge us $90. Apple let loyal apple customers down by shutting down local genius service and we are left to have to go to these sketchy outside repair shops were we at their mercy. No thank you. UPDATE. Sent to Apple... took over a week but they fixed it for free.

On vacation my MAC literally dies on me.I spent hours trying to get the smallest sign of life from it -but the screen stayed black - and nothing changed .In desperation I went to Computer Advantage the next day.This is my 2nd or 3rd time there...I keep forgetting, that when I have an issue with my macwhile in Sarasota, this is the place to go.You dont wait, there arent 100 other things going on,.The tech guys are very sweet and focus on the job at hand-as far as repair or diagnosis goes theyre 3 for 3 for me.I really liked the place.

Authorizes to replace iPhone batteries. Drove all the way up there just to get on a waiting list; drove up again several months later when my battery finally arrived (not there fault, Apple did an amazingly poor job of doling out replacement batteries); then drove up a third time to pick up my repaired phone.They are courteous and knowledgeable but they could have saved me a trip. Also, I had an spot but apparently that didn’t matter; it was first come, first served.

If there was a sixth star I would use it! My experience at Computer Advantage has been stellar across the board with both the sales and the service departments. I bought both my sons and my own computers at their store because of the very clear information they gave to me, I who am a techno dinosaur! And the service department has helped me several times in a fast and efficient way. And finally, the tutoring program is not only enormously helpful but also fun! You see why I wish there was another star!

Two out of the three employees I interacted with were wearing extremely loose masks with their noses exposed, making the masks ineffective. They have signs saying masks are required but the staff isn’t even complying.The repair person I was dealing with was also rude and condescending both on the phone and then in person.

I needed the battery of my iPhone replaced. Austin from repairs said they had it in stock. He told me if I needed to wait for the replacement the waiting list is month out but for $20.- extra I could skip the waiting list. I declined, made an appointment at am Apple store next day. The replaced my battery while I waited for the advertised $29.-. Nice try to scam an extra $20.-. You lost a customer!

The team of sales, service and administrative staff of Computer Advantage is extraordinary! I have been a customer for over seven years. I have received excellent recommendations on products, warm and personal service, one-on-one lessons and follow-up on questions and challenges...many times on the sales representatives personal time. The scheduling and turn around on repairs and trouble shooting is exponentially faster than at the new Apple store in Sarasota. I was very pleased with the service at Computer Advantage and wish I had gone there sooner. My MacBook Pro has been useless for 2 years as I couldnt get it booted up. Finally brought it in and its fixed with running the Mac Tune Up! So relieved.On another note, when I went to check out, I noticed the disgustingly dirty office chair that is behind the counter at check out. The receptionist was not sitting in it at the time and I commented on it. There is NO WAY I would sit in a chair that has literally layers of dirt coated on it! Seriously, you need to get her a new chair! That is the first thing people see when they walk up to the counter. Its absolutely disgusting!

Very professional team. My old Mac Pro needed diagnosis and they only charged $35 for that. Ordered my new part (8 G RAM $230), put it in for $15. Total under $300 and I was only one week without the unit. This place is clean and organized, and has a responsive service team. Kudos! Ill be back.

The sales people are very knowledgeable in helping make the right computer choice ( I particularly recommend Larry). We have also used their repair department and find it to be reasonable and accurate in diagnostics. Love that it is a small store without the bustle of big mall computer stores.

Absolutely stellar experience. Had to have my logic board replaced and it could not be an easier, smoother, and quicker process.I am in the Sarasota area visiting and my computer died on me and would not charge no matter what. I brought my Macbook Pro up to Computer Advantage at 1pm on Wednesday. Wayne helped me, he was extremely knowledgeable, when he took my system was in touch within a few hours about what was wrong with my system. They had a new board ordered by the end of the day, overnight, and my Macbook Pro was repaired with a full data transfer by 3pm the next day on Thursday. Thank you Computer Advantage, couldnt have had a better experience.

I had a computer emergency where I needed to recover documents on my computer of 7 years with a failed logic board and transfer them all to my brand new computer. The Apple store in Sarasota recommended this place to me when I purchased my new computer and I see why - they are fast and efficient. I dropped off my old computer on a Friday morning and I was called within an hour with an update. I dropped off my new computer to have them sled the hard drive and it was done by the next day. They communicated with me every step of the way and everything was recovered that I needed. I am so thankful that there are Apple experts around this area! I was panicking this past week but now I am so relieved. Highly recommend.

I’m a student, I am a dj. So my laptop is everything. When laptop crashed, they listened to everything I said and let me know my laptop was toast. But they STILL saved all my info. That was huge!A few days later, I realized that I still had to get licensing worked out for my programs (new MacBook so it needs to be re-certified). I was trying to replace an audio driver and bam, it messed up again. But they saved my data twice! And taught me how to back it up for next time.Apple tech support sound like total noobs compared to these guys and I would trust these guys before calling Apple for help.I recommend to anybody!

This place is great. Why? All sales people are knowledgeable and I like that. They tell you what’s up and you can get lessons on the apple products. I was having an issue with the fact that somehow 33,000 pictures had downloaded to my iPhone. 😧. So I made a lesson appointment and got the problem solved. I have been in other times for these kinds of glitches. I do not go to the Apple store. These sales representatives and technicians are much better.

WOW!I scheduled a class with Larry Edison and am I glad I did.I learned SO much about my Apple Watch.....I have had it for months but never really used it until I had the class with Larry. He is SO helpful and taught me so much. I am loving my watch now thanks to him. Also, I have purchased several computers from Computer Advantage and have always been very happy with both the product and the service I receive when I have a problem. I have dealt with Computer Advantage ever since moving to FL 15 years ago, and I have only had positive experiences. When the new Apple Store opened up closer to me, I gave it a try but soon found myself on the road to Computer Advantage. I needed to buy desktops MACS for my husband and me, and I had lots of questions about transferring information as well as about cleaning an external hard drive. Not only did the sales person, Larry Edison, spend considerable time explaining what I needed to know, later in the day he e-mailed me two links to articles that could help. Ironically, the same week my husbands laptop had malware issues, and I was able to bring it in and get the problems resolved in good time. If you want outstanding service in a calm and professional environment, Computer Advantage is where to go.

I left my MACBOOK Pro with them, hoping to get a new trackpad, for my jumpy and erratic one. They called a few days later saying I needed over $1,000 dollars for the trackpad, the keyboard and a new HARD DRIVE!!!! because it failed the diagnostic (laughable). They will charge $90 if you tell them water is involved- DONT SAY THIS!!!!; $45 if you dont say that. All they do is hook your laptop to some sort of diagnostic and THATS IT! They dont open it, dont even turn the thing on. Id give zero stars if I could. I have since bought a trackpad for $22 on eBay, replaced it myself (and Im not that bright with hardware), my laptop is back to normal. Dont waste your money; take it somewhere else.

I took in a 2013 MacBook Pro that needed a screen replacement while I was on vacation. The attendant advised my repair couldn’t be before I left the state unless I paid additional fees to expedite the repair. I agreed to the approx $100 fee to determine the exact cost of repair. I asked the attendant to “ball park”the total repair to which he replied, “we do this all the time - at least a $100.” I drove back to my hotel about 15 miles away and shortly received a call from Computer Advantage If telling me the repair was to be over $800! I declined the repair and returned to get my computer. If they frequently do this repair, why couldn’t they give me a more realistic quote before I leave the store? The attendants and repair personnel are all within 30feet of each other.!! I’d give zero stars if allowed.

While there is an Apple store here I still prefer going into Computer Advantage as there is always someone available to help. Dont have to sign up or contact Apple ahead of time. Everyone in the store wants to help and will go the extra mile to be sure I dont leave without an answer to my question. They dont worry if it doesnt always result in a sale. I believe they understand very well what it means to service people first. It is what brings me back to buy my Apple products there.

Our family has purchased 6 Apple computers from Computer Advantage. The sales representatives were very knowledgeable, listened to our needs and spent the time needed for us to become comfortable with our choice of computers.Eric, in the Service Dept, also does a nice job of understanding problems we may have. He will try to fix the problem on the spot; if he cannot, we know we will not have to live long while our computer is in the shop. Larry does a great job of training, and customizes your time with him. so as to cover the things you want to learn. And now, Spencer is creating a wireless home entertainment system for us. We were able to meet with him in their special room, where you can see and hear what they can do for you. We cant wait to experience this in our new home!

Took my 6 year old iMac in Tues PM for the $79 Mac Tune Up; picked up Wed AM. Heres what I got:Detected corrupt disk directory, repaired and optimized the directory. Ran system maintenance scripts, cleared out system caches. Repaired disk permissions. Installed Apple updates.Computer passed Apple Service Toolkit and the hard drive passed SMART diagnostic testing. Unit cleaned.The service tech, Mike Lessard, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He took time to explain things to me that i did not completely understand. He also offered me a memory upgrade from 2GB to 4GB for $95. I was somewhat hesitant, although the price seemed reasonable. Mike did NOT try a hard sell. He suggested I try the tune-up and if I later wanted the additional memory it would be the same $95.So, 24 hour turnaround computer service, excellent customer service, no additional add-on or shop supplies charges, my Mac runs like new... Im a happy guy!

Everything about my experience at Computer Advantage was amazing! I got locked out of my brand new MacBook Air on the first day back to school, my 2 year old was in “binkie withdrawal” and I was at my wit’s end. I spent an hour on the phone with several “Mac geniuses” to no avail. I was told I would have to go to the Apple store, I would rather have dental work done without medication! The Mac people said that Computer Advantage might be able to help me (light at the end of the apple shaped tunnel). I live in Bradenton, and CompAd is only 15 min from my house. While I was explaining my situation, my daughter was whining and making it hard for me to communicate. The wonderful techs brought little stuffed animals out for her to play with and engaged her while I talked to the manager. After a brief conversation, Wayne (I hope I got the name right!) caught what 3 geniuses missed! 5 minutes later I had reset my password!!! 5 minutes!! I spent an hour on the phone with Apple 😫, and Computer Advantage turned my very bad day into a success!! I am eternally grateful for the professionalism, the knowledge, the kindness and the patience I received from the fabulous staff at Computer Advantage. There aren’t enough stars for this rating!!!!!

For years I did purchasing from Computer Advantage for myself and several clients (at least $20,000 retail). Upon having a mouse glitch issue with my own iMac, the young man in the service department refused to take me seriously. After taking it in, I was told to get a new mouse pad from their store. I did, and the new mouse pad did not resolve the issue. I took the machine back 2 additional times, each time the response was the same - get a new mouse pad. After a few moments research, I found that what I experienced was a known issue that had nothing to do with the mouse pad. When I came to the store to pick up the machine for the final time, the glass over the screen had been chipped and scratched. I was told you brought it in like that and that they would not fix it. I then took the machine to the Apple store in Tampa where they apologized for my experience with Computer Advantage, fixed the mousing issue and replaced the chipped glass at no cost to me.

I went to the Sarasota location to replace my MacBook Pro battery. I called ahead of time to see if they had the battery in stock and they said yes. I could just drop by and it would take half an hour. I went there the same day and they ran a diagnostic and then went to look for the battery. The battery was actually not in stock and I had to wait more than a week for it to come in (they told me early next week but it came in later in the week). They said they would call me but they took down the wrong phone number (they should have made sure they had the correct number if they knew they had to call me). When I did get the battery replaced, the OS would not load. I called the store and left a message and called several times afterward. I ended fixing the issue myself but I still never received a callback.

Not only am I completely dissatisfied with the service, mainly because they didnt provide it, but worse than that the service rep made it my fault when they couldnt repair my macbook pro glass screen. On first presenting the computer with cracked screen the rep quoted $491 plus tax. I said that is very expensive glass. Went online and found the glass for $25 and purchased after rep told me they would replace the glass I bought for labor cost. Left them computer for several days without response from them. When I finally got a response from several phone calls the tech said the glass was too shattered to repair without damaging the LCD. Then when I went to pick it up the rep said that I had misunderstood him in that they dont replace glass without replacing the LCD.With no experience I went home, removed the glass without damaging the LCD and replaced the glass.

You’d think a long- time customer who bought a $3400+ MacBook Pro and had them do the necessary data transfer would get some consideration when a mere 4 months later it was revealed that they never enabled the Time Capsule back up to work! But no. Warranty? Doesn’t cover it ( even though it was THEIR techie’s ham-handed installation to blame. No sympathy at all! Well guess what? Everyone at Computer Advantage went above and beyond to help me today while I was going through a stressful time with my computer breaking during midterms and right before I had papers due. Mike, in the service department, couldnt of been anymore helpful. We told him how important it was to find out the diagnostic on my computer ASAP and he was able to figure it out within minutes. The guy on the sales floor was very helpful and made the process of buying a new computer painless. Even the receptions were happy to help! I would highly recommend Computer Advantage over the Apple Store any day. I was a little skeptical at first, but when I couldnt get an appointment at Apple right away I was sent here. Im so glad I was, better service and time management than regular Apple retail locations.

These folks are idiots. They made me bring in my macbook pro with screen de-lamination issue twice - once to run a software diagnostic (which is not required for a de-laminating hardware issue), then a second time to place the order for a new screen. Austin told me that the part would be ordered and arrive in the next day or two, and that I would receive a phone call to bring in my laptop. They were adamant that I had to bring in my laptop for service within 5 days, otherwise the service would be cancelled. After waiting a week of not hearing back, I had to call back and ask what the part order status was. I was told that nothing had been ordered and that I would also have to replace my battery (which was never part of my request. These guys are either liars cruising for extra fees from the customer or from apple, or just incompetent. Stay away.

Thisstore is up-to-date on everything Mac - and for our business that is a must.Larry Edison literally took a large project with several compatibility issues, hardwaredifficulties (working on an older Mac laptop) and enabled the project to meet the deadline.Professional, patient, knowledgeable he dedicated creative thought notonly to the best layouts (using Keynote and PowerPoint) but alsowith presentation experience that guided slide creation (use of google images - choosingproper resolutions, font size, etc.). Dedicated personalized attention to theproject at hand, skill and practical know how (teaching shortcuts and educating about Mac useall along the way) make this tech experience stand out above others. As an authorized Apple store with trained technicians, there is great confidence that the job will be done correctly.The ability to solve issues (PowerPoint for Mac continually crashing) was easily accomplishedwhere others were stymied. The fact that the store has one-on-one teaching, allowing workingat one’s own pace with the flexibility of client choice of the subject makes Computer Advantagehave a major advantage over one-on-one single subject training in other environments.This store deserves a 5 star from this first-time experience.

Went here for a hardware issue with my MacBook because Apples website recommend them. They tried to charge me $650 to fix the issue because they wouldnt honor an Apple warranty. I took the MacBook to Apple and had it fixed at no cost because it was still under warranty. I paid $35 for Computer Advantage to look at my MacBook and it was a complete joke. Dont waste your time here.

Incompetent!! Made an on-line appointment a week ago for iphone battery replacement. Drove 45 minutes to be advised that they dont check their system for scheduled appointments until the day of the appointment - they are currently out of stock of batteries. They dont review the comments the customer makes when making the appointment. Obviously, I would have preferred to be notified that I would be put on a waiting list via on-line rather than appearing for the appointment to find out. Ive been a customer at Computer Advantage since I moved back to Sarasota in the early 90s. Since first living in New York City, then Ft. Lauderdale, and now back in Sarasota, Computer Advance is, without a doubt, the most reliable, trustworthy, friendly and fair Apple dealer & service team that Ive ever dealt with. On the rare occasion that my hard drive has crashed or that Ive had a major problem (which, with Murphys Law, always happens in the middle of a major deadline), the service department has always jumped through hoops to get my problem resolved in an incredibly speedy manor. The Computer Advantage team always treats their customers with respect, compassion, and never talk down to you as often happens in the big box stores. Believe me, they have seen me in some of the most stress-outed moments of my life, and they always leave me with a sense that I can relax now because theyve got my back. I literally live six minutes away from the new Apple store at UTC, and if I had to, I would rather strap my 70lb. monster-size G5 tower to my back and walk barefoot to Computer Advantage if I had to! Dont even think about it—if you want an Apple product and you want the best price, the best service, and the best overall experience, go see Computer Advantage. I cant imagine shopping anywhere else for my tech needs. The staff listens to me when I come with an issue. They really want to know how to help,and I can tell they have been trained so they know how to help me with my specific issues (I am not technically oriented). I have a MacBook Air and an iPad, both of which I purchased at Computer Advantage.We also purchased Sonos from Computer Advantage, and I LOVE our system. We purchased two speakers last year and one this year. It is so easy to add another speaker.Thank you Computer Advantage.

I had a problem with my graphics card on my iMac that I use for business. I was worried that I would have to take my machine in an leave it with them for an extended period of time while they wait for the part to arrive and then to do the repair. But what happened was just the opposite. I told them about my concern and they were able to diagnose the problem remotely, order the part and then when it arrived they scheduled me to come in and have it replaced. I dropped it off one afternoon and picked it up the next morning. I had minimal down time for work which made me very happy. Thank you Computer Advantage!Update: June 14, 2020 - I just purchased a new MacBook Pro from Computer Advantage. Pete was excellent in helping me select the best computer for my work. He was also a wealth of knowledge and willing to take time with me in helping me select the best adaptors to connect all my devices.

Avoid the Apple Store at UTC and shop here instead. Full line of Apple products, great third party peripherals, knowledgable, helpful and friendly staff, great service department. No waiting and zero pretension. Everything you could want in an Apple product shopping experience.

Wow. These guys are the greatest. Every single person in this store has been quick to help me with any of my various needs, when Ive gone in. In the latest iteration, Spencer Blunden deeply researched and solved an issue that even highest Tech level HP couldnt solve (though to their credit, they labored hard as well) -- getting 5k resolution on a 27 HP Z27q monitor, with my MacBook Pro 2015 Retina. Just as I was beginning to think it wasnt workable, Spencer got it working for me. --And for anyone who may stumble across this on a Google search, the solution is simple, and its the importance of the cable installation order: Turn all machines off, first plug in monitor DP2 to the rearmost Thunderbolt port, THEN plug in DP1 to the frontmost Thunderbolt port. Then turn everything back on.Looking for some serious professionals? Go here.

My first phone call was to inquire about a pre owned Mac Book. Pete was the sales rep I spoke with, I have a habit of putting my phone on speaker so I can write notes and when I got off the phone my wife remarked what a pleasant and helpful person Pete was and that she was impressed with him. I made an appointment and subsequently bought a pre owned mac book. When I was loading some music from my CDs the drive wasnt ejecting correctly, I called Pete and explained that I may not be able to get in before the 30 day warranty was up because of my wifes chemo treatrments. Once again Pete was very gracious and said bring it in when you can. I was about 6 days beyond the warranty period but the repair was done N/C, and in short order. Everyone I have spoken with has been very helpful and pleasant. Something you dont find in the big box stores. Im a happy customer, all 10s on my grading scale.

I took my early 2011 Mac Book Pro 15 to Computer Advantage as it would no longer startup. They called to tell me that the logic board had failed, and it would be $425 to repair. My AppleCare had run out 3 days earlier, and a call to Applecare service resulted in a we are not authorized to OK this repair under warrantee.Computer Advantage sent the MB Pro to Apple for repair, and when ready for pickup (3 days later!) I was told that CA had contacted Apple about my warrantee coverage, and that the repair was covered by Applecare! How great is that. Nothing but good results from the CA repair desk, and I have been using them for years.

The hard drive on my Mac Mini was failing, based on the conversation I had with a tech. I had about a month left on Applecare. I took it to Computer Advantage. They kept it for more than a week, said it was a software problem, charged me $75, and sent me home with almost all the identical issues I brought the machine to them to fix. I called Apple to complain.Two months later, the hard drive had died completely. The Mac was a brick. My Applecare had expired but because Id documented that Computer Advantage had failed to fix a problem Id correctly identified while it was still warrantied, Apple agreed to extend the warranty a few weeks to cover the repair.Computer Advantage took another 9 days to replace the hard drive and had the gall to write on its invoice when it returned the computer that the hard drive was failing.No.When I originally brought it in, the hard drive was failing. When I brought it the second time, it had failed.Wouldnt boot, no matter what (the tech at Apple I spoke to on the phone had had me try everything.)As a computer, it made a decent boat anchor.)Dont use these guys if you can help it. Bad service, and I gather theres some issue with employee morale, too, as a tech snapped at me when I called after a week to say I needed my computer back and he replied, You and everyone else.
