My first time...i had a lot to learn, e.g. that BetterDay is a world unto itself with its own language.... Coffee is delicious, bit i m a chai drinker... Careful to ask what exactly is in a vegan burrito, with brisket on the side?. Atmosphere is peaceful, with a few workaholics peacefully stuck to their screens. I m definitely going back, but with my brain more securely attached.

Good coffee, but service could be speedier. Waited 10 minutes for a cappucino, but it was perfectly made when I got it.Atmosphere and lighting is 10/10. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would come here all the time to do work/homework/whatever. The staff takes coffee craft seriously but the prices arent super inflated. Theres also a co-op next door that sells delicious vegan cookies for 1.99. Perfect combo :)

This morning at 10:35 I was indoors at the window to order when a customer came in without a mask. I told the young woman taking the order but she didnt seem to care. Me and other customers told him that he needed to wear a mask. He said he doesnt wear one. I went outside while the person I was with stayed inside to wait for our order. Another customer told the employee that he should not be in there without a mask, and she said there was nothing she could do. She proceeded to serve him. The customer violating the mask law appeared to be a regular customer as he had a Betterday cup with him. This is not the first time I have seen a customer in this establish not wear a mask and still being served during mandatory requirements. Clearly the owner of Betterday Coffee (registered business name: Betterday Kitchen, LLC) does not enforce the required mask law, nor educates employees. It is not mentioned on its website and I do not recall any signage on their storefront. I will never go back to Betterday.

I’ve had it with this place. The owner is clearly sick in the head, and there are a few staff members with serious issues of their own. I’ve also been randomly hearing more and more about customers refusing to return there, fed up with the overall incompetence, open discrimination, and rudeness of the place. I’m officially joining them. Highly recommend going somewhere else.

I freaking love this place. Its consistently incredible. We always get cappuccinos, always on point. Their cold brew is out of control, and some of the best Ive had anywhere. Very cool baristas and great music playing. Feel like I discovered something new to listen to every time I come in. But honestly? The best thing about this place are the breakfast burritos/burritos in a jar. We have driven from Denver solely to get one of these gems. The best red chili ever, and their bacon makes my face ache with joy. Sometimes well order extras to take home. Im hooked. And need their red chili recipe, desperately.

I live right down the street and I have only been in twice. Both times, not greeted, and treated like it was an inconvenience to help me. Even the answers to the questions I had were in a response or tone that was condescending. It would be great to have a nice neighborhood spot with the right treatment. Then I find out about the treatment towards people of color and accusations towards a well respected Latino man. #RacialProfiling at its best!So sad businesses like this are even open. They want the money from us but don’t care about the people in their community.Being locally owned does not make anyone or any business exempt from this type of treatment or behavior.I like to support locally owned businesses over others, but this locally owned business will not get anything else from me. So sad! At least now I know and others will too.

This was the most horrible service and experience Ive experienced in Santa Fe in the last several years. We showed up on a Friday at 6 to a partially empty restaurant. It took the server about 10 minutes to come by with menus. After another long wait, he took drink orders, forgetting one of ours. After bringing that drink (about a half hour after sitting down) he took food orders. We didnt see the server again for 45 minutes. During that time, another couple came in, sat down, waited 15 min without even being welcomed, and then left.We had to go up and finally ask what was going on. He came back with an excuse that they were under staffed. The food came and my paper thin chicken sandwich was fried to the point of being completely dry. The house made ketchup just tasted like pureed canned tomatoes with some 3 year old spices thrown in.Again, the server never came back so we had to go up and ask for the check so we could leave. By now it was 8:30, a full 2.5 hours after walking in.Thats 2.5 hours of my life I will never get back.Horrible service. Horrible experience. Sub par food. Avoid this place at all costs.

My name is Crystal Nieto. I am Native American born and raised in New Mexico. Ive been working at the Betterday for over 2 years. Even after all this time I still love my job. But the reason I decided to write today was because of the recent accusations against my boss being racist. My boss is NOT RACIST! If he was I would not be working there. Ive experienced many jobs where I actually had to deal with racism. At one point I was told not to speak my language to my fellow co-worker who was also Native. The betterday is the first job Ive ever had that I havent had to deal with any type of racism towards me which is why I appreciate this job very much. My boss has always treated me and my beliefs with respect. Not once has it ever crossed my mind that he was racist. Ive never felt discriminated or shamed for being who I am. So I would deeply appreciate it if everyone would stop accusing my boss and the rest of the staff of racism. Black, brown, or white it doesnt matter what color you are, you are all welcomed to stop by anytime. Thank you

If you’re a PoC, don’t go here. Spend your money elsewhere. The owner is a racist piece of garbage, and the manager is left to clean up his mess. The individual who was harassed is a respected community member, and a professor who would often refer his students and colleagues to your place of business until this horrid incident. No amount of apologies are going to make up for the level of humiliation, upset, and fear he had to endure. I hope the owner can figure out what’s wrong within himself to behave so disgustingly, and fix it...real fast, or move on to a less diversified state.

Just heard that an old friend of mine from home was harassed and falsely accused of vandalizing the premises by someone on the Betterday staff. It didn’t matter that my friend was a paying customer who was using the space like everyone else, or that he was cooperative with a rude and bullying staffer, or that he is a devoted dad, or that he works for the betterment of our society and our world, or that he has a Ph.D, or that there was no evidence to indicate that my friend was in any way involved with tagging up the place. And yet somehow this staffer at Betterday KNEW my friend was the culprit and actually demanded he empty his pockets to prove his innocence.(You know where this is going...)What, pray, might have made that staffer single our friend out from all the other customers in the shop? What made him so suspicious when he was simply using the space just like everyone else?Yes, folks — our friend was the only Latin@ customer there. That’s all it took for that staffer to conclude that our friend was guilty. So the next time you feel like having a nice cuppa joe with a splash of full-fat #RacialProfiling, make sure you head over to The Betterday Coffee Shop, where the staff will make sure your day only gets better as long as you aren’t black or brown.(And now the waiting game begins: how will the shop respond to this awful situation? Weak, half-baked apology? Carbon-copy statement of inclusiveness quickly googled and cribbed? Erasure of posts referring to this incident? Weak defense of bad behavior followed by victim-blaming and white tears? Taking down the shop’s FB page? The suspense is killing us, I’m sure...just like that staffer’s racist tendencies and all those unnecessary 911 calls for our simply existing in public spaces while black or brown.)

Every time I’ve been here, the staff has ignored me initially, then is clearly annoyed to finally take my order. I don’t understand how so many employees at a busy coffee shop can keep their jobs if they treat customers with such distain. Once I’ve gotten my order through, the barista finishes his/her conversation before starting to make my drink, while glaring at me seemingly the whole time.Every time I’ve ordered a cappuccino, it’s had no foam on it, so in reality it’s a mini latte. I try not to be a coffee snob, but why call it a cappuccino if that’s not what it is, and if you call yourself a ‘crafted coffee shop’!? 1 third espresso, 1 third steamed milk, 1 third foam. Shouldn’t be that difficult. I asked for a dry cap, and had the same result. I don’t care if there’s a heart in my coffee if it’s not what I actually ordered. When I try and return it, they never remake it.
