A really top tier Chinese desserts restaurant. Super modern dining environment and queue to order your desserts. There is HUGE variety of desserts to choose from, many of which are shareable, but also personal desserts. The variety is quite impressive and will suit anyones palate. It was pretty hard to choose a dessert to go with since everything looked so good. We settled for some shareable desserts and enjoyed them thoroughly. The mochi was delicious and had the classic chewy, but soft and tender texture youd expect from high quality mochi. The pudding paired with them was fantastic. Had my first almond pudding there and it was fantastic; a new tasty flavour I enjoyed. Seating was plentiful and lighting of the store and decorations was on point and very nice. I loved the creativity of the chicken wire clouds too- subtle, but very effective. As we dined some Chinese commercials played displaying more of their desserts which was nice to watch and have in the background, giving us ideas for what we could order next time. Really great place to grab dessert if youre in the area.
This one star is for the location. I drop by Meet Fresh in downtown San Mateo after hiking with a friend, we ordered Hot Almond Signature because it looks very Delicious from the menu picture, however when they called No.11 then my friend pick it up the Almond Signature from the counter, it is a bowl watery liquid, barely see anything in the bowl; totally different with the menu, so we decide to ask the counter person why its so different? but the person just simply reply: it always as is! so we want to speak with the store manager, guess what, they dont have store manager, so I request to refund or exchange; basically the counter person just ignoring me. Both of the quality for food and services are very poor here. Id suggest anyone should ask them if the actual product will matching the menu picture upon place order.
This place has the best Taiwanese/Asian deserts. I have not been disappointed with the teas here, however the shaved ice, egg waffles and the other unique deserts are the best choices. Only downside is that they can be on the expensive side, however that make well for being shared between 2 people and it is after all a treat.
Signs in store encourage online ordering which I did instead of waiting to order at the kiosk. Turns out when you do that, that pushes your order behind the in store orders.Had to wait one hour and fifteen minutes to pick up an order (just two items) while others in line behind us were already out the door with their orders.Checked in multiple times with the cashier and she said it was coming. The last time we checked and I told we had waited over an hour she finally confirmed my name and order number and scrambled to find my order ticket that was printed half an hour ago. Wouldn’t come here again..
Food was fine. Bad service. The staff don’t know how to handle the orders properly. When you order egg waffle and grass jelly bowl in the same order. They will make your grass jelly first and placed it on their order table and let you wait 20mins for egg waffle and at the same time your grass jelly bowl already melted.
We always love Meet fresh. 2 star for this store though. I’ve been to the store twice. The store wasn’t busy both times but the service was poor and slow.
I love their milk tea.I dont live close but I always go thereI couldnt find somewhere else the milk tea is so good, strong tea not like the other milk tea shop.
Much better than the last time I went. Taste and quantity has improved. Worth to give it a try.
Parking is a struggle in downtown san mateo. otherwise, nice seating area with comfortable atmosphere. line to order can be long and the self service touch screen is super difficult to use. prices a little high for what you get. but service is quick. not the biggest fan of this type of dessert, but my family really enjoys.
Good quality and selection. Recommended to order ahead with the app during peak times.
Ordered Icy Grass jelly signature for delivery and there were still some ice at the bottom of the bowl when it got delivered. The taro balls were nice and chewy. Grass jelly was smooth. I had rice balls and peanuts as toppings as well. They were all very tasty.Overall tastes very authentic, like a taste of Taiwan. The fresh milk oolong tea with boba was okay. I’m swept away by the authentic, chewy taro balls!
The desserts are large and reasonably priced (compared to a $7 drink at Teaspoon or Yifang). Wait can be long depending on the day and time so be prepared to wait during busy hours.
My wife is from Taiwan so she like to always come here for her Taiwanese dessert fix.
Service a little slow but dessert was good.
Perfect place to satisfy sweet tooth cravings before sugar crashing at the end of the night.
This new location is conveniently in downtown San Mateo. Great spot to get traditional Taiwanese desserts after eating at one of the many Asian restaurants in the area.Desserts are the perfect amount of sweetness and there are cold and hot options. My favorites are the Pudding and Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice, Red Bean Tofu Pudding, and Hot Purple Rice Soup. Make sure to try the fresh taro, one of the chain’s specialities. There’s free WiFi and the open, air-conditioned interior makes this location a great spot to hang out with friends.
Super cute place to get boba with friends
Oddly, there wasnt a line when I visited on the weekend and you get the same delicious desserts! Thats a win. Service isnt great but its comparable to the Cupertino Meet Fresh location.
Dont let the pictures fool you, the quality and effort put into the food here is mediocre at best. Go around the corner to the alley and hit up the other Chinese dessert house by the parking lot and support a small family business instead.
I liked the Boba tea!
Taiwanese dessert place with milk teas, grass jelly, almond milk, tofu pudding, red bean, mochi, fresh toppings, warm and cold options, etc.... The interior is quite large, clean, welcoming, bright. You order at counter, they give you a buzzer when its ready, a little on the slow side I think. Ive been here three times and got try an oolong milk tea: good. Mango milk shaved ice thing: its good, but a bit pricey ($14, also this is seasonal, not offered in winter). The caramel pudding with boba was great for a cheaper and not so large menu option if you dont want tons of desert food.
Very disorganized. The staff is poorly trained. Ordered uber eats 20 and the app says it is done but when I arrive they haven’t even started making it. They are so busy taking orders and running around without making food for anyone. Waited another 20 mins in the shop
Unbelievable I have to wait for almost 1 hour for 1 taro signature
Good quality of food at best price. Pocket friendly Foodie restaurant. Amazing services!!
Refreshing and nice contemporary set up.
Amount reduced so much.
I ordered the custom shaved ice with beans and taro. By the time it was delivered by Uber Eats, the dessert was a slush. For a place that exclusively serves desserts, Meet Fresh did not bother keeping the dessert cold on ice or using ice packs. The presentation was of course very messy, but given the COIVD-19 situation, that would have been excusable if the taste was good. This was easily a 24 oz bowl if not more.... and it had a teaspoon of each of the beans.... thats it. The rest of the slush was just a sugary mess. The taro pieces were the size of a big lemons.... hardly any beans. Very poor presentation and awful quality. Will never order from this place again.
Apparently, treating everyone equally is not a priority here at this dessert shop. They served my order for dine in without a tray, but they served other peoples orders with trays. Its like they didnt even care to bother with that for my order.
The quality of the food brings me back once again. Great selections in hot and cold desserts. Pretty clean and roomy. Though they got our orders wrong, they were quick to fix them and they were very friendly. The yummy food made it up for the mistake. We will be back definitely!
Authentic flavor, exquisite deserts, very high quality food, comfortable seating, and spacious interior. A perfect place to hang out all year round. Ive been living in the Peninsula for nine years and haven never seen a high end Taiwanese desert place like this. Awesome! Highly recommended. Gotta be patient for the long wait though. Its close to 9pm now and the line only gets longer...
Order ahead on the app or be prepared to wait
The best place in the US for Taiwanese style shaved ice. I went on Christmas Eve and the kitchen was actually closed (at 4:00, I think I arrived at 4:05), but I begged them to let me order something and they did. The icy taro ball signature is really good. I haven’t tried much else since I default to this, but the red bean soup with black rice is also a nice choice, especially on a cold day.
Amazing food and the place is clean.
The Chinese women, in her 40+ I guess, super rude and impatient. It walkdd in at 9:30pm and no one was waiting to order. She has to rush me like she doesnt need my business. After I paid my order, I wanted to add one more topping. But she has to give me that stinky face, asked me what do you want me to do?
Do your laundary while you wait for your order 👍
The wait time is crazy. More than 40 min. Sometime the deserts come out watery. Seem like it been put idling for too long.I love Meetfresh but the wait time is horrible. You need to hire more staffs. Your current staffs somehow working really slowly. Maybe they are tired from busy work all days. Not to blame the staffs, the business need to hire more people to earn more money.
The mango dessert is MUCH larger than one would expect. There were 2 of us, but it should probably have been shared among 4 people.Too many calories, 100% delicious.
Awesome desserts. We love the Icy Grass Jelly and Wintermelon Tea
Authentic Taiwanese Desert : Ice Taro #4a must-try if you fancy Taiwanese desert but havent got time to fly to Taiwan, should pay a visit here!Spacious with genuine decoration like the ones in Taiwan.Good taros take time to cook FYI!
The desert selection is great with both hot and cold varieties to choose from. Indoor seating is adequate with very clean restrooms. Both cash and credit cards are accepted. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars was the long wait time after paying for my 2 orders
Chained Taiwanese style dessert. Food is absolutely delicious but be aware that you will spend a long time to wait. The food comes very slow. It took me about 1 hour for getting my ice dessert although only about 10 customer before me.
I like the q mochi milky shaved ice. Usually their taro balls are tasteless but this time, their sweet potato ball with taro inside was really good. I also like their fluffy winter melon milk but wish there was more milk.Be prepared to queue and wait 20-30min in total for your desserts.
We absolutely love this place. Love. Perfect place to indulge in Asian desserts and hang out with friends. What more do I need?
We live near San Mateo and we were super excited when we saw that this Meet Fresh location finally opened, because we have heard so much about the awesome dessert it makes. Its a Wednesday night and we came here at 7:09PM Now is 7:40PM and we are still waiting for our dessert! Taking more than 30 min to make a shave ice is utterly unacceptable! This will be the last time I visit this location.
The KTZ of Taiwan; came here after Italian nearby. Didnt know they have it back in KL. Almost overwhelmed for choice! Wanted to try everything but in the end settled for one of the red bean soup.
Desserts are definitely good. I’m so happy they opened one in San Mateo so that I don’t have to drive to the Cupertino store. Be prepared for the wait. We came around 10pm, not that many people were in line and the store wasn’t full. We still waited an hour for the to-go order and was told they lost track of our order
Went during soft opening, and havent been back since. They used unfiltered tap water to make their shaved ice. Taste gross! We were half way through eating it, and you can taste the stale water as the ice liquified. I thought it was just my glass jelly shaved ice, but my husbands 8 treasure shaved ice was the same. It really bumped us out, as I was so happy that I didnt have to drive all the way to Daly City, or Cupertino to have my fill of Meet Fresh. We live like 3 blocks from San Mateos Meet Fresh, and Im still iffy about going back in. Really bumped out as we really love Meet Fresh.
The reason why I give this shop one star not because Of the food. It’s because of The front desk staff attitude is bad as hell. (I bought the dessert in Jun 5, 6:30pm)
1 star gives to clean/bright environment and one gives to good taste(not too sweet). However, the waiting now is around 35-40 minutes after you order. It’s definitely short staffed.
Wait time is crazy and ridiculous. Cant justify the mediocre food.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this place - as someone who grew up in Asia, this place is legit. I love their signature icy grass jelly with qq noodles! All my friends - even those who aren’t Asian - have loved it as well. I was surprised because it’s so authentic
Experience was long wait and not straightforward to use the kiosk. Probably better if you order beforehand but not sure
A new dessert place featuring a Taiwan local treat.
Super terrible experience. We ordered pick up from Uber eats. After it shows that the order is ready to pick up, we arrived at the store. We tried to ask several staffs to help us for the pick up order, but they just asked us to wait. After waiting for 25 min, we gave up and contacted Uber eats to cancel the order.I’ll never order meet fresh from Uber eats ever again, thinking about such terrible experience for Uber eats riders.
Theyre pretty good as far as capturing the taste of Taiwanese dessert, but its definitely on the pricier side!
Great desert. Never disappoints.
The only things I like about this palce is the Fresh Milk Tea with Brown Sugar and Boba and the frozen treats. Do not get any of their hot drinks, all they do is microwave it so its either pipping hot ot lukewarm. Disappointing!
Had their toufu pudding. Pretty yum, but wait times are looong and frustrating even if you order ahead.
The milk tea here is the right level of sweet for me
Clean and bright but smaller than the one on Cupertino. Probably won’t come back here as it takes a long time for them to prepare our dessert.
So much hype only to be let down. The milk tea I got here tasted like water. Extra star because the boba inside was really good. The drink itself was horrible. Will probably not be coming back.
This place is like DMV, takes forever to order, and then it takes twice the wait time to have your order ready. If you go into the store and find more than 5 people stand in line, it will take you 10-15 minutes to order, and expect your order to be ready in additional 40 minutes.Service complain: I saw one lady who worked on the register, twice, age 40ish, both times she was heads down “working” so hard on the register without greeting to the customers, or at least raise her head to apologize for the wait. Please train this lady on how to serve.Food is good tho, which is so sad.
This isnt my first time at a Meet Fresh, but first time to this location. The service is way too slow!!! We waited a full 40 min for our dessert, and this was when the place was still only 1/2 full. We knew it was a bad sign when we sat down only to realize that the people that were already seating before we even stood in line to order havent received their food yet.Not just on the speed of service, we thought the dessert (strawberry shaved ice) was just ok. Not worth getting again even if we didnt have to wait. The ice cream tasted generic, the strawberries werent fresh, and the shaved ice lacked any flavor. We wont be going back again, at least not to this location.
Love everything on the menu. Fun place to meet with friends and family.
The waiting time is super long
Below my expectation.
Delicious, I always dine in and have extra take out for next meal at home
Cute spot to catch up with friends over yummy Herbal jelly and mochi dessert!
The preparing time here is way too long compared to other stores. There was almost no customer and I waited 32 minute to get a milk tea.
It can get pretty hot in San Mateo, Meet Fresh is THE PLACE to go to!This place opened about a week ago. They have great A/C, lots of space, located in a prime spot in downtown B street, and best of all, their desserts are friggin delicious! This location is a little more family friendly as they have a mini photo booth area with the sister/brother founder duo at the front of the store. As I ate my dessert, I kept seeing a families with kids coming in and taking photos. If you havent been here before, get the Icy Grass Jelly Signature dish, its a must!!If its winter time, get the Hot Signature dish, EZ menu!MEEET FRESH! All the way!
Don’t expect them to take your phone order, they just put the phone down and continue on their merry way
The sweetness of their red bean soup is perfect.
I missed meet fresh from Taiwan.
Always crowded, slow ordering process and delivery. But its worth the wait once you dig into your first spoonful of ice or red beans or grass jelly or whatever you ordered.
A great spot for Taiwanese desserts. Big location with lots of seating and free WiFi!
Large open area seating, great dessert options
I had the purple rice soup, and it was delicious 😛
The food is really good, but as everyone else mentioned, the wait is insanely long. I don’t think any other location has this issue, I think this location is just not very efficient...
Long wait. Large place. Recommend taro.
This place is always understaffed. The app says pick up in 20 minutes, it is always never done on time. I have witnessed customer was very angry because she was made to wait 45 minutes. Very poor service.
Wait forever 15mins+ to get my milk tea even on a weekday night. Try teaspoon or chatime if you only want a milk tea
Food are nice, but super slow. Plan for at least 40 minutes wait after placing the order.
