Great rice balls and breads. BUT why can u just open two registers and the line will move much faster! The next door got pretty good rice ball too as their rice is softer and with more taste
If you love Japanese bakery style items, onigiri a.k.a. triangle kimbab, deep fried fish or meat stuffed in thick bread rolls, this is your jam. It reminds me of Japanese bakery/take-out places in midtown, NYC near Bryant Park where workers would line up at lunch time to fill their bellies and go into a food coma for under ten dollars.Have tried custard cream filled doughnuts, apple Danish type thing with just apples and a jam? With turbinado sugar sprinkles, deep fried vegetable curry croquettes (more liquid), baked beef curry croquettes(more solid), various onigiri including chicken teriyaki, unagi, salmon roe, ginger beef.Agree with reviewers who say filling is a bit sparse but what little there is was fresh. A lot of Asian places we have tried tend to have warmed over odor/flavor, or more gristle than meat, but you dont get that here. The onigiri does sit heavy in your stomach, could be the sugar content in the rice mix.Went twice this past week (had car serviced at auto mechanic shop nearby) and cashier is friendly, and alert.Do always check allergy related questions several times to be sure. I asked an employee who spoke little to no English if the pear and peach danishes had cream cheese or cheese. I was told no cheese, just cream, and when I checked again it turned out it was cream cheese. This process took awhile because both times they had to go ask someone else. The danishes looked very generous, with a whole half piece of canned pear or peach per danish.Be prepared to wait. Even at 8am, and also at 10 am there was a line, which can move very slowly. This is due to the 8 person limit as it is a tiny shop, standing room only.Definitely considering ordering a cake, as reviews seem favorable.
Delicious bread and desserts! Omgoodness I was so happy to find this gem. The shop itself is quite small and there’s a limit as to how many people can enter the store. I like the variety here as many items you cannot find elsewhere. They’re currently offering free coffee and a rice roll (or bread) for healthcare workers so be sure to bring your badge!
This is the neatest bakery I’ve ever been to! Curry inside of a bun? Brilliant!
This place is a gem! The staff is so friendly. They have some great vegetarian options. My favorite things are the tomato bread, which is only available after 1:30, and their banana coffee. I enjoy trying the different baked goods they have.
Always friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Great prices after 5pm but that is not to say the prices arent very fair other times. Never set in their ways new things pop up to try often. Try the Extra thick bread for French toast! Convenient location with other shops nearby to spend an afternoon or great for a snack.
Favorite bakery store. Consistently great quality. Great safety policies during this time: heres a limit of 8 guests in the store at a time and hand sanitizer provided at the front.
A small but very nice bakery. It has a few unique stuff including strawberry sandwich. The prices are good. And staff are friendly. They do sell some of the best onigiri Ive eaten. Its quite spacious inside though it can get crowded during certain times. The strawberry shortcake they sell there is amazing. And they sell a mini version of the cake, which is cute and enough for one person.
One of the best places for onigiri! The tuna mayo and spam onigiri are my favorites. Always friendly staff and cozy atmosphere :)
Amazing sweet bean bun AND a double americano for $5 total. Delicious coffee cute store, great price.
Yay this place is great!First up, theyre super cautious about covid. Only 4 people in the store at a time. And hand sanitizer when you do enter. Try and not do that and theyll call you out on it.Aside from that, get the mentaiko bread before it sells out. So yummy if you warm it up. Also really good onigiris. I really like their ikura salmon and my sis really likes their melon bun thing and their sandos. Try the spicy tuna. Its actually has some kick to it.If youre worried they wont have your baked goods, you can reserve stuff ahead of time.
Great affordable bakery! I got the edamame/konbu and unagi onigiri and a sweet potato bread. All were delicious, but I highly recommend the edamame onigiri! My friend got a veggie curry bread and that was also amazing! So many vegetarian options :)For drinks (hot milk tea and soy milk), they’re on the unsweetened side. Lastly, love that it’s a women owned store & all the staff are super friendly! Overall, I would highly recommend this place, except that you have to wait in line to get in because they are busy!
I like this place a lot. It is very tasty and price is pretty reasonable. I can tell store interior is not so fancy but it is cozy because I feel I am in home. I tried their roll cake bread, and it was not sweet at all which I like it!! Also the breads are so cute. They look korosensei from assasination classroom. :)
I don’t do Tik Tok trends
Update 5/27/21: theyre letting more people in at a time! Also, the TUNA MAYO onigiri is SOOOO BOMB.Super cute bakery filled with delicious baked goods as well as other items. I only got a few items, but I wasnt disappointed. The pork cutlet sando was pretty darn good, but it was drenched in katsu sauce, so it was a little salty. Other than that, I cant complain. The bread was really good and fluffy. The highlights for me were the onigiri. I got a kimchi and spicy tuna. They were both really good. I usually get onigiri from Mitsuwa next door, but Ill definitely come back here if I dont feel like waiting in the Mitsuwa line. They currently only allow 4 people in at a time, and you sanitize before grabbing a tray/tongs. We probably waited 15 minutes before being able to get in.
I really enjoy coming here after shopping at Mitsua. A bunch of great eastern breads and deliciousness.
We needed a snack and it turned into a full meal of snack foods. BLUF, Clover Bakery & Café was awesome and had so many options that we had to buy them all x2. This quaint Bakery packs a punch when it comes to delicious snacks. If you like options, come here but be careful because you may find yourself loading up your tray to its max capacity. We bought and tried a lot of their items. Top 3 were the Spicy Sausage Bread, Minced Beef Burger and the Beef Curry Bread. The Spicy Sausage is essentially a hotlink in a bread with cheese (Drool). The Minced Beef Burger... Im not actually sure the difference but it was delicious. The Beef Curry Bread had that curry taste, wasnt over bearing and went well in a bun form. The Croquette Burger and the Pork Cutlet Burger were honorable mentions too.We did try the famed Spaghetti Bread. If I was starving, I would definitely eat it. However it was kind of a weird item. It isnt zesty spaghetti and was way more sweet, like ketchup. Maybe if the bun was garlic bread it would be better. I didnt hate it but didnt love it. The chow mein bread was a little too much for us to try.Service was very friendly and the line went very quick. There is plenty of parking but I dont remember much seating. I recommend Clover Bakery & Café for quick snacks and if you need snacks on the go. Everything is priced very well, so much that we found ourselves buying up anything we wanted to try (the store). I will be a repeat customer.
What a great spot! Def worth a visit and make sure to get there earlier in the day so you have your selection of pastries, breads, sandwiches, and onigiri!
Stopped by while shopping in the plaza and was pleasantly surprised by this little bakery! I love that their products aren’t overly sweet and have enjoyed all the ones I’ve tasted so far. Looking forward to trying more of their goods in future visits!
Kinda expensive but but very good drove 3 hours to get there!
Great bakery with unique items! It feels authentic to me, although I wouldnt really know. The onigiri doesnt have much filling compared to some other places, but it tastes good.
Amazingly cute and cozy place with fresh and well priced pastries! And the staff was so nice - they even thank you before you leave for your business! I will definitely be back. ありがとう!
I love the fun foods they create here! It was covid-friendly before it needed to be, as each guest uses a tray and tongs to pick their own packaged food. They have a mix of savory items (both vegetarian and meat) and sweet treats, and everything is clearly labeled with a picture of the item. Ive tried pretty much everything and recommend it all! The custard cones are my bfs favorite. At the counter you can get even more items. The onigiri rice balls (that are triangular) are my favorite item they create. They again have a mix of veggie and meat items, and Ive never had a flavor I didnt enjoy. The staff is helpful and friendly. I highly recommend you try this place!
Best baguettes in all of San Jose. The place for a good breakfast, lunch or just to grab a loaf of break and some pastries.
Clovers got a great atmosphere, and their baked goods are the best in the area. Go early though, because they run out of stuff quickly, especially on the weekends.
Finally found a place for real onigiri in the Bay Area. Everybody should try the Ume one.
The services are excellent, and I commend the management for their meticulous planning.
Probably my favorite bakery in San Jose. Tons of great choices at really good prices
Plenty selections of Japanese breads and pastries at good price. I got their donuts at $0.25 last weekends and taste good as well. They have onigiri and musubi.
Great Japanese pastries & musubi!
Lots of homemade and fresh baked goods. Not too wide of a selection
You dont see a lot of these around. Very homey Japanese bakery with iconic breads you dont see at other places. I especially love their onigiri. So much variety and super delicious 😋They also sell their stuff at the Mitsuwa!
Absolute best place for onigiri in the Bay Area. Hands down. My wife and I find it worth the trip down to San Jose just for the onigiri. They are a very Japanese style bakery, and offer some of the classic Japanese bakery staples (melon bread, curry bread, yakisoba rolls, etc.). I have never been disappointed with anything here (pear Danish and peach Danish are some of my go to favorites). They also have a good selection of Japanese cafe style drinks on order that have a very authentic taste.
Best Japanese bread and croquette
My favorite Japanese style bakery in the bay area. Always have to stop by when Im in the South Bay. The cutlet breads are great and so are the yakisoba and spaghetti breads. Just thinking of them while writing this review is making me hungry.
Awesome Japanese bakery. Fresh bread, pastries, onigiri, and cafe. Better to go early because they do run out of items toward the end of the day.
It was good! I would recommend you getting a sauce for the Sake! And some items thats are warm.
Extraordinary place to pick up an assortment of creative and cute, individually wrapped bread items. Ham and vegetable sandwich is a staple, and the onigiri variety is tasty. Also recommend the iced lattes or other coffee drinks as a treat.Approved.
Delicious bakery treats and various rice balls. I grew up with Japanese bakeries and its spot on great. Wont be disappointed.
Amazing onigiri. Well worth the wait.
Good food and reasonable price.
Best bakery!
Japanese bakery, really unique. May need to wait in line as only 4 people allowed in the store under pandemic guideline
This is real Japanese style.
Great place to pick up an assortment of creative and cute, individually wrapped bread items. Ham and vegetable sandwich is a staple, and the onigiri variety is tasty. Also recommend the iced lattes or other coffee drinks as a treat.
Love this place. Over 25 years and still the only Japanese bakery in the bay area. Always a nice quiet atmosphere. Baked goods are amazing. Service and always on point
Their chocolate chip melon & green tea buns are to die for! 👍😘Great freshly baked thick sliced bread for a morning toast with your coffee!
Really enjoy this place, great fresh pastries and onigiri!
Found this place while looking for a quick breakfast stop. Incredible food, sweet staff, cute and clean interior. We tried the ham and cheese cutlet sandwich, salmon onigiri, chocolate pie, and banana mocha and they were all great. Everything else looks amazing too. Will be coming back here!!
Best snacks in Bay Area. Japanese style bakery. Hidden gem. Friendly staff. Must try Strawberry sandwiches.
Love the buns and bread here. If you like the chinese bakeries, you gotta try this place.
They have the best authentic Japanese potato sandwich and other bakery are pretty good too! Staff are super nice!
This is not your traditional bakery where you will find egg sandwiches. This is a Japanese bakery with over dozen types of origri ranging $2.75 to $3.50. You will find carb on top of carb (Spaghetti stuffed in bread) or seafood in bread.
Love 💘 Clover bakery
I give this spot a thumbs up. The service here is better than most. Prices are decent. Kinda of like a restaurant in Los Angeles I liked to visit.
I love this bakery mainly because they offer something relatively unique in the area. The pastures here arent quite as sweet or as rich and they also serve a couple items my kids like, such as their strawberry sandwiches. The only thing that prevents them from a five star rating is that theyre frequently out of some of their best items.
The employees work extremely hard and are very respectful to everyone. I find it hard to believe that there could ever be a problem other than the customer being difficult typically. The way the Japanese conduct themselves should be a good example for many Americans on how to behave in stores and how to treat employees/customers.
Cute spot with delicious breads and some bonus savory stuff at great prices. Most of the drinks are pretty awful, though, and I wish they had a more extensive selection of breads. That said, this is still a place I really like and visit frequently.
Possibly the only Japanese bakery and the best Asian bakery in South Bay!
The birthday cake was just amazing! The price is SOOOOOO LOW for such a big and delicious cake. I ordered a half sheet one for 30+ people and its gone in half hours. Everyone loves it. Thank you Hisae!
Love their onigiri. Ume and Spicy Tuna are my favs.
Authentic Japanese pastries in a cozy shop. Some foods, like the spaghetti bun, are not for American tastes and I recommend getting more familiar fare.
Amazing Japanese style bakery. Everything is good Ive tried is great with outstanding customer service.
Nifty Japanese inventions like spaghetti sandwiches, all sorts of sweet pastries, and a variety of excellent onigiri (triangular rice sandwiches) if you need a light meal. Very affordable and they would love it if you practice your Japanese with them.
Lots of nice bakery items. Store is very cozy and cute! They make a lot of fresh rice for onigiris. Very reasonable prices.
This is one of my favorite bakery. Many kind and great taste. I also love Onigori. One of my favorite is Anpan = Red bean bun.But feel too much red bean inside.People are very friendly and great service as well.
Nice staff, good bread and toast. They close at 5pm now.
Extremely cute little bakery. Ive been coming here for years with my daughter. She absolutely love the pastries, breads, and snacks here. Lately shes been obsessed with onigiri. Its tasty, convenient and a great snack for her to take to school or as an afternoon snack.Definitely stop by and try them out. For a small shop, theyve got a big variety of pastries and breads to chose from.
Great variety of snacks and pastries! Going early is best for a wider selection. The fruit danishes here are so yummy- not too sweet. They got plenty of rice triangles and if they dont have one ready, the ladies are more than willing to whip one right up as you wait.Small seating area with plastic chairs and tables. Can get crowded but line moves rather quickly.
Always a delight this place. The onigiri, curry bread and custard breads are amazing. Taste is very similar to bakeries I went to in Japan. It’s has a cosy mom and pop shop feeling. The only thing to keep in mind is that it gets super busy and they almost always run out of most things before closing time. There’s limited seating inside (although people move fast) so something to keep in mind. It’s easy to take the baked goods to go though. Perfect little Japanese bakery in the middle of Silicon Valley.
Both the cashier and the owner were very nice and patient in taking my ideas about my customized cake design. The cake did not only look great but very delicious too. I also bought sandwiches and a pastry from there and they were all very good!
Stopped in on a monday i think. service is consistently good. the place has an awesome atmosphere.
A friend of mine had recommended this place and ever since then i come here every time i visit the South Bay. I love their onigiris which are my favorite and they are so filling, its best to come early since they sell out quick. The service is always friendly and the prices are great! Everything I got here was under $20.
The people are extremely friendly and the bread is delicious and I try to restock every other week. If you have not tried this place please do!!
Unique bakery with cool bread selections. I love the seaweed rice triangles. They are fresh and warm. The drinks are a hit and miss. When they make it good, the match latte is yummy.
This is a small Japanese style bakery. I came here mostly for their different musing which is fresh with different varieties other then the regular spam like most places.
I went to high school down the street from Clover Bakery and almost ate here daily. It was my go to bakery and I love everything that they make. They have something for most people, but lack vegetarian options that arent sweet. Otherwise, it is very good.
Super cute store. They play sailor moon music! Reminded me of my childhood!
Love the baked goods and onigiri here!
Been going for 10 years. Always delicious, always courteous. Amazing!!!! いちばん!
This bakery is amazing! If youre ever near by, this place is highly recommended. The earlier the better if you want the amazing bread.
Everyone at our table was quite pleased. There was fast, efficient, and courteous service. The prices are good for what you get.
The service here is friendly. this place has a nice atmosphere. this place has many great reviews for a reason.
Love the place and their variety of meal type sandwiches to suit Japanese tongue. Also they are priced very reasonable. I feel like slipping into my youth days in Japan! とても懐かしい味、お値段も素晴らしい(^^) また行きます。
The food was delicious!!! :)
