Best of all options near by, but extremely overpriced, we are talking about examples of the same product across the street costs 50% less… pink salmon caviar 58 vs 80-90 here. Salads $2-3 more per pound than in the other places. However the quality is also better than anywhere else. I can’t go there anymore since they raised prices for everything so much.
Went in today to get updated potato salad called Olivier. Who’s sick idea is to toss sooo much pepper??Is should be called pepper salad with mayo and potatoes. I can’t feel any taste besides pepper.First of all I never saw Olivier salad with pepper before.Ingredients are cut well but pepper AMOUNT ruined everything.
Great store! Doing most of my shopping for larger parties and banquets here. Management is always friendly and helpful. I would especially thank Angela. Most people see her at the register but she is so much more at this establishment. Thank you folks, keep up the good work.
Store appearance is neat. There seems to bea good selection of what looks like Russian (and Turkish?) grocery items. The fish at the meat/seafood didn’t look fresh. Cleanliness at the deli is in question, as there was a fly flying on top of the uncovered deli food. There are a lot of baked goods to choose from; but most are pre-packaged and/or refrigerated. One star for customer service. No smile or a simple hello from any of the staff. We ordered some cooked food. Each time we ordered an additional item, the woman behind the counter looked (very obviously) more impatient.Don’t think we’ll ever return. There is a much better European grocer less than five blocks away.
Ridiculously overpriced (eg pilmeni are $11, something that’s $4 at Trader Joe’s) but if you’re craving Russian food it’s clean and has most of the basics. You may be better off just going to Cinderella at these prices.
Great fresh and very tasty food selection. Helpful staff.
Very, very interesting finds of European food. Id say eastern European food. Prices are high imo.
Be aware! Ready made foods is still sold spoiled! I bought the chicken cutlets stuffed with mushrooms last night and next they I planned to serve them to my family for lunch. They where spoiled and had very stinky smell to it. I did noticed that they were laying on top of the fridge rather tgan on the fridge. I did trust that the ROYAL market knowcwhat they doing and how they handle the ready made foods and care about they custumers. This store wa great place to get food 7 years ago, but not any more. Unfortunately, we with family moved to Sunnyvale since, so tought that was the place I missed the most. We had to be in SF again after long time. We randomly flew buy and I tought to get something there. We spend over $100 in the store. Very disappointed I am also with your chicken rice pilaf. Seems that there is no care about quality anymore, just high prices remained the same. I called in next day to complain, but did not recieved any help that I tought I should. The all ready made food we bought there went to garbage. Thanks for nothing!!!To me, is not about money, but the dishonesty and not carring about custumers well being really gets me. Not recomended place to get ready made foods. Btw, I am Armenian myself and find this incident very sad!!!
Great store with authentic russian products.
They have a lot of great options here but some of the staff is really rude.
Great store, with products around the world - mostly from Armenia, Russia, and other Eastern EU countries.
What a great accident I stumbled across this store the person I was talking to him Polk Street last night I was buying a bottle of grape leaves to make Armenian dolma and she asked what I was going to do with them and I told her and I said the sad thing is is the place that carried the Armenian string cheese that I love no longer carries it.Im quite lucky because she shops all over the city and she told me about Royal Market food and bakery and about how a lot of the products they have in there are Armenian just spending 10 minutes in there I got the cheese I love and found out they had free marinated kabobs meet in different styles of meat. The gentleman who helped me I think was the owner and he was very nice and he could see how excited I was to find out about this place I will certainly be going back there for a lot more things like Armenian baked bread so good
Great selection of eastern european style food. Deli section full of baked and fried fish, meats, also they have half prepared meats and chicken you can cook at home.
Very nice store, especially the lady at the cash register. You can see her smile even through the mask :)
Ive shopped here for years and I love all of their imports. They get most of their stuff from Armenian distributors in the SoCal area but those are imported from Iran, Armenia, Russia and many other places in that area. You know its a good place when every time Im in the city your parents ask you to grab something from there. They also do fresh BBQ everyday that you can just go in and grab a bite to eat. Full deli and full market.
Eastern European and Middle Eastern specialties. Do you want a sturgeon? They have it. Kabobs and fabulous hummus, etc, yep. Interesting wines and liquors? Yep.
This market has products for cuisine from the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Turkey, and Greece. Nice store!
Ive never had Russian food but I heard about this place on a travel video and checked it out. Now Im sad I live 2 hours away.
Excellent selection of everything! Super clean and well presented. Best quality products and the food looks/taste nutritious. Plan to go back. The prices were also fare.
European delicacies. Fresh meat. Ready to eat deli items. Amazing.
Employes customer service is very bad.It feels like there are forced to work.
Terrible customer service. Angry staff with no smile. Especially the cashier lady. Won’t go there anymore.
Always good for Russian and Armenian food as well as high end confectionery! Check it out.
One of the best in all San Francisco!!! Just like in Tbilisi Georgia. We love to come here always feel like home. Super good and very clean. All fresh!! Best khinkali ever.Service was incredible. our waitress mam Luisa very professional and friendly.
We often shop here for Eastern European holiday food, their stuffed cabbage is repeatedly on our dinner menu. They used to carry more wine from that region, but still have a selection of rare drinks from Russia and neighbouring countries. I would say they are the best specialty store in the neighborhood
Selection is ok, but they play very loud hardcore propaganda (in Russian) all day long.
I was there 3 times and never again. Sellers are rude and always angry. So, dont ask anything and dont expect from cashier to say hello. And check expiration date on products.Update: I checked few other negative reviews and they had similar experience like me.
Such cool wine bottles and easter European cousine!
Amazing selection of Eastern European and Middle Eastern food, both imported and domestic, plus tons of fresh produce. Came here looking for ingredients to make a few Persian dishes and found even more than we were looking for. Really well priced too. Excited to go back.
Horrible service and low quality. I went there 8 times. I find up expired “ryazenka”, all bottles were expired, they toke it away after my complaint. Cottage cheese has Most of items have not price stickers. Once I got 8 packs of cottage cheese, each package was unseal when I checked at home. This time - no pride stickers again, and I asked cashier about it, she said “here is owner, you can ask him”, he said that kids coming to their store and toke out all stickers away from all items. I said it’s not the first time - it’s always like that. And I told him about other issues from the past also. But he didn’t care, he was rude, he refused all those complaints about quality and stickers instead to apologize and trying to make service better. This is typical situation when the person coming from another country with that mentality and doing business like there, but it won’t work like this. When I told him that I’ll make reviews on google maps - he said that he don’t care. It’s so unacceptable, rude, and poor quality and service there!! And this person is OWNer!!! If the owner don’t care about his business reputation, quality and he don’t want follow laws and standards, what can we talk about another employees then???!!!! This store need inspection control! It’s crazy!
Looks like fresh but some of stuff very an expensive.
Cashier does not know the law refused to give me a free bag while using EBT and even said that she does not need to well welcome to america where you can sued and or fined for refusing to follow the law! be very careful you do not want to be fined by the city over a ten cent bag when you do not know the correct information...
I love this place. Very interesting deli selection. I believe it is Armenian inspired food. Smoked salmon is good, but their hummus is the best. Produce is consistently of good quality. They really pack a lot of variety in the relatively small space.
Was about to do some grocery shopping and they were listening to a really racist show on Fox News!Alot of the other reviews are negative re service and expired food (so foul!) so hopefully they will go out of business. I like supporting small businesses over chains but here is an example of somewhere that should not be supported
Great selection of imported and domestic produce. My all time favorite spot for Russian/USSR food. You can actually order authentic food that Royal Market and Bakery will cook for you. Loving it!!!
Do not go here if you are hungry. You will want to buy everything!
Grocery market, Russian deli, and bakery. High quality produce, meat market, and deli with Russian staples like half sour sauerkraut, eggplant dips, and excellent Middle Eastern (Georgian?) hummus, tabouleh, stuffed grape leaves, as well as lamb, chicken, and beef kabobs. They have some of the the tastiest smoked salmon in the city and an excellent selection of cheeses pastries and cakes. While there are several Russian markets along this stretch of Geary, this is my personal favorite. Limited street parking.
Has so many products from Russia, Turkey and Middle East. They have a great selection of salads, side dishes and cooked proteins. Must try the lahmacun and dolmas.
This is a great Russian market and deli that I would love to give a 5 star rating. I shop here at least once a week and am a regular customer. The staff are so nice and always willing to help me find what I need. I have tried just about everything in the store from marinated fish, salami, cheese, breads, baked goods, fruits and vegetables. If you are craving Russian food, this is the place to go!!
Prices are big,but the food is good. Thats like the only place were you can get Import food from Russia and Belarus, still prices are not cheap.
This is primarily a destination for authentic Russian / Armenian cuisine ingredients. The store stocks everything you need to prepare a good home-made meal, including buckwheat, rye bread, vodka, Armenian wine, kebab and other marinated meats, pickled vegetables, cottage cheese (творог), and many other milk-based products that support digestive health. The store also carries a very good selection of freshly prepared food, so you dont have to cook. I love their salads (stolichny is my personal favorite), the red caviar (salmon roe) is typically very fresh, and their selection of desserts is delicious. I like the napoleon cake, and the sunflower seed halva. There are a number of other stores that carry similar produce in the area, since its heavy with the Russian-speaking population, but Royal Market and Bakery always has the most fresh products, and the selection is unparalleled.Oh, also dont forget that they have a restaurant, and do catering. In case you need to make an order for an event - this is your place!
An excellent store with a good variety of the products from Eastern Europe and Russia. Its not crowded most of the time and many products are fresh and tasty. Our always choice is the cheese curds from Latvia (vanilla and chocolate are the top notch), a rye bread Bavarian, condensed milk from Belarus, armenian pear soda (very much like georgian Natakhtari). We took a cavier by weight for New year from Canada and it was awesome - pretty big and delicious. As far as I noticed today, there might be some problems with paying by Discover or American Express. At least today I noticed it a couple of times. Visa and Mastercard are ok.
Incredible selection of all sorts of wonderful exotic foods such as stuffed eggplant or Baltic herring from Russia took quite a while to decide. Truly a gourmet candy store for foodies.
As an American walking into an ethnic grocer there seems to have been no attempt to help bridge the cultural divide. Items in the deli are simply named without any indication as to ingredients. We bought some items and though they were the exact same as the other people we were clearly there with they didnt offer to heat ours despite doing so for theirs. I didnt know this until after wed left and this item is unpalatable cold. The staff at the deli and checkout would have been hard pressed to be less friendly. In fact all 8 members of our group got a distinct unwelcome vibe from the less than friendly or even polite staff.
Everything an eastern European could want. Really fresh, good selection, friendly and helpful staff, and good prices.
If you are a consumer of European and Russian food ... go here! There are not too many of these around where I live and I loved the one that is in our hometown, until I came here! Fresh slavic foods, treats and desserts and friendly people and you dont have to speak Russian, although it helps. The Korean Carrots are probably my favorite but I have many others. Fortunately my wife is not around me right now to tell me the names of my other favorites.
Great little store offering authentic foods from Middle East and Russia...
A co worker who speaks Russian took our office group to lunch here. The lamb, beef Lula was tender, juicy and delicious. The chicken shishky was also. The potato salad, Israeli salad is all very good. The Israeli salad tasted like amped up baba ganoush and it has pine nuts. I plan to go back!! Buy fresh to take home to grill myself. Delishous!!😊
All kinds of delicious food and spirits you wont find elsewhere
Good Armenian/ Russian deli. Fresh food always. Cery clean and good prices.
Wonderful selection of foods from Eastern Europe and other points east. Lithuanian bread, pickled cabbages, kabobs, dozens of varieties of Turkish Delight...
Cashier not even smiling and say thank you! No customer service at all. Cashier was so rude and not polite. I had been in many Russian stores most of them are polite and friendly but this cashier lady was disgusting..Not visiting this store anymore!
They got no-pork salami sausage, delicious home made smoked salmon and many more things that I love. However their staff in deli department is quite arrogant. Theres no setup for making lines. Whoever the staff choses to serve first is attended. I brought my friend to show Russian grocery and i was very embarrassed after waiting for 30 min and trying to ask the staff and they completely ignored us. My friend told me they dont even know what is a line
A lot of Armenian and mediterranean food here. Ready to serve armenian bbqs, all assortment of fish is also available. Nice and clean grocery store, the only problem is there is not much parking arrond.
Food is always fresh, good quality, tasty. Pastries are not oversweetened. My favorite place to go when I am in a mood for something home made.
Great market with very friendly service!
This market carries a very good selection of Turkish groceries. It is tidy, clean and the prices are reasonable.
I love this store! I stumbled upon this gem while strolling through the neighborhood one Saturday afternoon. I left with fresh ingredients for dinner as well as fresh piroshkis for lunch.
Excellent selection of East European and Mediterranean cooked meats, salads and other baked good. Plus, it is always fresh.
Great place to find many basic ingredients of East European and Middle Eastern food.
Plenty of Russian, Armenian, Turkish.... Foods. Good atmosphere, and the people that work there have always been nice. Large selection of alcohol as well including: Armenian cognac, wine, vodka, beer...
This place is amazing. Really excellent kabobs, hummus, and they bake their own bread every hour or so, so its always hot and fresh. Although this is an armenian place, they also have good persian-style foods. The deli is brilliant.
Huge variety of Mediterranean and Eastern Europe grocery items, take out foods
Great place for getting imported food from Armenia, Russia and Ukraine. The cook and cater as well
Fine selection of different Russian foods
Makes cooking so easy especially when ur tired after work!! Always fresh... My friend also loves this store!!
Great pastry, deli selection, and ready-made food. They carry mostly Russian, but also Turkish food and drinks!
Interesting selection of unique groceries, if you can stomach the hostile, sneering folks who work there.
Few month ago I was visiting SF and asked them to freeze some sturgeon to take back home. Knowing that it is for out-of-town and Ill not be back with complaint, they sold me spoiled fish - no way to check when it is frozen. Beware! this is company of thieves.
Awesome deli, one of the best in the city!!
I like this grocery store! Always fresh and tasty!
Great European food store, hot food served as well! Awesome to stop by when in Frisco!
