Been going to Stamper for 5 years, love everything about this place. The staff explains everything well and walks through the details. Highly recommended.
As a new patient, my first time experience was outstanding. The quality of service I received from Dr. Situ was thorough and he informed me of additional info regarding my eye health. The service from reception to eye exam to eye ware consultation was wonderful. They are pet friendly too. Watching the dogs wait in the seating area with their owners was entertaining and the showroom was clean. I recommend this place.
Overall Ive had the best experience so far in town for prescription glasses. Selection of frames is good, larger than in many other fancier shops; sales assistants are competent, professional, and patient; visits with the optometrists satisfactory and accurate, with detailed and careful explanations; front desk service is corteous and attentive, albeit not the fastest at times because of the high volume of clients. They are also very good at reminding of your appointment. The only reason Im not giving the full 5 stars is that glasses bought at this, as at any other independent eyeware shop, are always overpriced compared with the real value you might get online or at big vix stores. Therefore, 4 stars is as far as you can go with this kind of retail business.
I was a customer here for years, and had referred friends to the office. Stamper made an insurance billing error and tried to bill me for their mistake. If you get insurance authorizations from them, make sure to get it in writing, so you dont run into the same frustration I did!Im out the free $180 for the year from my 2019 insurance, because Stamper staff didnt think it was a big deal. Its incredibly frustrating because I had confirmed with Stamper staff, and both 2019 and 2020 insurance companies, that I was able to take advantage of the contact stipend from both insurances.TLDR: Steer clear and take your business elsewhere!
Great experience! The whole staff is always super kind & helpful. Ive seen different OD since my first year there and Im always pleased. They always answer all the questions that I have and take the necessary time to help you.
Honestly wanted to like this place but I havent had good experiences with them. Long waits, the glasses seemed overpriced, and they ordered the wrong contact lenses for me. I didnt notice till I got home and opened them, so now have to buy another 3 months of contact lenses.
Best optometrists in the greater Bay Area! Highly professional, latest equipment, nice people, comfortable office and waiting area. I an very pleased with my new glasses and contacts, and can see so much better. Thanks, Stamper Optometry!
I have been getting my eye exams with Dr. Stampers office for many years and have received the most comprehensive eye exam using the latest equipment. The optometrists have a caring attitude and are experienced, competent professionals. I feel Im in good hands when I get my eyes examined at this office because I know they will be thorough. Dr. Stamper discovered that I had cataracts in my left eye and gave me an excellent referral to a doctor who performed the surgery with excellent results. Thank you to all the staff who are courteous, patient, and very helpful in every way!
It was time for an eye exam and since my usual place had gone out of business I was searching for a good, reputable place, preferably in Stamper Optometry that wasnt going to charge me an arm and a leg for an exam.My co-workers immediately told me about Stamper Optometry and how pleased they were with their overall experience.Sometimes word of mouth referrals can be a toss up, but I have got to say that my experience here was a great one! Ive received professionalism form the staff from the follow up phone call that I received until the minute I left. The Dr. was very nice, explained to me all the questions and concerns that I had regarding my eyes and I felt very comfortable throughout the entire process. Definitely a wonderful place, I can see why my co-workers praised Stamper Optometry so much and I plan on definitely doing the same thing.
The staff at Stamper are knowledgable and incredibly friendly. The Optometrist who examined my daughter (14 years old) was good with her and me, and was able to get the right prescription for her unusual vision. She found the glasses she wanted quickly, too. Great selection. Take the bus because parking isnt easy in the Mission...but Stamper is well worth it!
Once again Stamper Optometry NAILED IT. Harvesting quality glasses to choose from. Coming in receiving great service from Arlette. Leaving out with the great execution of awesome customer service from Aury. Leaving San Francisco feeling like a new chapter of your life. When you have a fantastic pair of prescription glasses with a topping of great customer service.Thank you Stamper Optometry and Dr. Stamper...you guys know youre the best.
Getting glasses has always been a stressful time for me but when I came in for new prescriptions, I was at ease from the friendly staff despite there being a lot of customers. Everyone was very helpful in explaining my insurance options and suggesting frames that fit my style and budget! Theres lots of frame options and brands carried at this store. Theyre also quick to help with any glasses fitting issues!
Stay away from this terrible, horrible place! Their staff is rude, ghetto and dismissive, unless you buy expensive glasses. They promised a 2-week turnaround for lenses replacement and it has been a month and theyre still not ready. They jack up the prices of eyeglasses and sunglasses so high they are so ridiculous! These people are greedy monsters! Let me repeat, stay away from Stamper Optometry!
Dr. Hansen was fantastic, and really listened to my work lifestyle to help me decide on glasses to help with my far distance, but also a set of glasses that help reduce the strain on my eyes for long computer work for everyday. However, I had the worst experience with the newer staff member Jessica. At first, things seemed fine and she was helpful in deciding the frames. However, when they arrived, the order was completely wrong. Somehow, the blue light filter, which is only used for reducing blue light from electronics, was put on my distance lenses and in the wrong, cheap frame (since I was not wearing distance glasses every day, I chose a cheaper frame). When I told her this didnt make sense, the blue light would obviously be for close-up glasses for the computer, she proceeded to tell me for 30 minutes how she only writes down what the customer wants, and it was most definitely my fault and NOT her fault at all. Not to mention she didnt mention (or likely even notice) my two frames were two different sizes, and was obviously large on my face. That too was apparently my fault because I picked them out because I liked the design. This is my first set of glasses, so how am I supposed to know how they fit?! Isnt that her job? She NEVER admitted any fault, and told me it was my fault every chance she got. She was very rude and clearly upset at me for the mistake, but never got a manager involved to make sure I was satisfied with how to proceed, and just told me she would send them back (and wouldnt even rush the order. took 2 weeks to get them back). To top it off, they made me pay the $5 difference for clearly their mistake. Someone should have caught that error to begin with if they knew what they were doing (blue light always means electronics and NO ONE is looking at electronics at a long distance). Horrible experience and will never be back. It was a shame too because the doctor, and the staff that helped me afterward (Paul and Jose), were fantastic. If Jessica wasnt sure about the order, she could have asked my freaking DOCTOR, who prescribed the lens and filter, to easily clarify for her.
New to San Francisco and the owner before me recieved a follow up reminder in the mail for Stamper Optometry.I called immediately as I had run out of contacts three weeks earlier and was in desperate need of a prescription correction for my glasses. The phone was answered within two rings by the nicest front office gal named, Araceli. She walked me through their practice, verified my insurance, and offered me a next day appointment! So meant to be!Upon arriving to Stamper Optometry, I was blown away with how busy their office was. Typically, Id consider this a good thing... but with the current COVID-19 health scare, I became quite the accidental pain in the ass.Luckily, Araceli was onsite and yet again impressed me every step of the way! She came over the clarify payment options, pre-tested my eyesight for the doctor, and didnt judge me for asking her to wipe down every single piece of equipment my face had to touch (with me as witness). She actually made me laugh along the way which obviously boosted my comfort level in knowing Im a bit of an over-thinker in ambiguous situations.I was seen by Dr. Daniel Situ a bit late, for no reason of his, but more due to a misunderstanding at the front. He provided EXCELLENT care, answered all of my questions, and even educated me on my eye images - despite me causing him to be late to his next appointment. There should be more doctors like this. More front office medical staff like this.Thank you, Stamper Optometry!! Cant wait to refer people to your practice. Never stop being genuine!
Fantastic experience, as usual. Took my whole family and we were in and out quickly.. Staff is always so patient and helpful.
I have been a client/patient there for many years and only had the best experience with eye exams, getting glasses( great choice of frames) and the staff is wonderfully patient . Any repair or adjustment needed much later is done right away. worthy of 5 stars...!!
Great selection of fashionable frames. Prices are good but not Costco or online level. Service is excellent and staff ensure that frames fit perfectly
Had a great experience with Stamper during my first visit for an eye /contact lense exam and then selecting new glasses. They worked seamlessly with my insurance and answered all my classes. I love that they are in the neighborhood as well!
I have been coming here for 20 years and drive over an hour to come, for the top notch doctors, kind staff and incredible frames! Highly recommend this Optometry office, especially if you wear contacts or have a significant prescription.
I have been with Stamper Optometry for about 30 years. They are state of the art, competent and trustworthy. I highly recommend them!
I have been meaning to write an update for a while, so here it is...I went for an annual eye exam in the fall of 2012, and the front of house staff seems to have changed. I was helped by a friendly, professional, gentleman named Jay who was awesome. There was also a woman there who seemed equally knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, but I didn t get the chance to really interact with her. So, now this place is like the Mary Poppins of eye doctors - practically perfect in every way!
I had a fantastic time at Stamper Optometry! I never imagined that the first Google review I ever wrote would be for an Optometry office, but I had such a wonderful experience, I had to post! The office was very clean, the staff were friendly, and my contacts were estimated to take a week to arrive, but they arrived in a single day! My optometrist was very forthcoming with my prescription (in the past, my old optometrist made it hard for me to attain, I assume to drive more sales through their own frames), so now I can go to other retailers for stylish frames! Now that I write this, I regret not looking at the frames they had in the office...If youre looking for a new optometrist, you can stop looking, and just choose Stamper. Im doubtful youll find a better place!
Great service! Made getting my first contacts very easy and painless.
Dr. Bruce Stamper is an excellent optometrist and an all around nice guy. His office didnt take exception to my request for a copy of my prescriptions, the way a less ethical shop might. He is the 3rd optometrist Ive used in San Francisco and Ill never have need of another!
The space is clean and professional. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The Dr is funny! Is a wonderful experience each time I visit.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, go out of their way to help you. Efficient appointments and quality service
Stamper Optometry is my go to place (over 4+ years) when wanting the experience of great Customer Service and selection of frames and eye health exams. I started coming to Stamper because I am total fan of TOM FORD -- never do they disappoint with the selections from Tom Ford frames, but also great options from L.A. Eyeworks and other designer glasses. The staff is accommodating and patient in helping you find the right pair. In addition, bilingual (Spanish) speakers. Located not far from 24th Street Bart Station. Open early on Saturdays as well. Helpful tip: plan ahead, make an appointment and make sure you have up-to-date info on your eye insurance...and then spend that VSP money!
Friendly and efficient staff. Thumbs up for Dr. Situ, who is patient with my shy kid and has an easy bedside manner
Service was fantastic. Timing was less than ideal. Over an hour wait
Had a great experience there. I came in with glasses i bought off the internet, and they helped me adjust the frame to my needs. Also answered a lot of my questions and didnt charge a penny for everything. From the outside it looks a bit dull, but inside youll find a very competent and helpful team!
Don’t waist your time at this place. They are only after the money its been a year and my glasses are still messed they don’t even work at all . Go to a professional optometry
Love these guys! Very professional, old school family run business (over 100 years). They are nice, polite and very profressional. Selection is great too!
Dr. Bruce is the best. Hands down. Professional and an expert. Not inexpensive but worth it.
The best Optometry in the Bay area. I recommend it. Very good service.
Stamper Optometry is conveniently located right in the heart of the Mission, has a wonderful attentive, and dedicated staff, and they accept walk-ins . I cant say enough what a positive experience I had at SO. I would recommend them to everyone, and including my very own family.
Friendly staff and sales people, though beware they will immediately throw the most expensive frames at you first if youre buying. Dr. Stamper was informative and friendly. Prices for exams I think are a little cheaper than elsewhere I looked. I dont think they have any really cheap frames. As you can probably tell, money is an issue for me, so spending on new frames/glasses gives me a heart attack. They did need 2 attempts to get my lenses correctly fabricated, so the nearly month long delay was a bummer, but that is not something they do on site and they were courteous and prompt about rectifying it. And I will also say they are willing to be fair when it comes to billing issues, but Ill spare you the details of that.
Great knowledgeable staff, modern equipment, great frame selection (and the staff are very good at helping you choose if you arent sure)
A highly professional but low pressure practice in the heart of the Mission. I am very satisfied the the thorough exams and selections.
New to the neighborhood,I was looking for a great eye doctor. I am grateful to have found this location. The eye doctor is very nice and the office is beautiful.I loved the toys for the little kids in the office.
Hi!,Given my age, as well as my bad luck, Ive had, and currently have, some health problems, but considering my personal situation, I honestly think that Id prefer to die rather than going blind. Some three years ago, a bit of plaque was found in the inside of one of my eyes. Fortunately, subsequent examinations revealed that the plaque had just been deleted. I was always made to feel welcome at Dr. Stampers; the lovely and knowledgeable crew are all incredible --hey, I dont cook the best tapa in the world for just anybody! Perhaps even more important, I always felt fully confident that Dr. Stampers concern, dedication, and professional know-how would ensure that Id continue using my eyesight, and avoid above horrible plight.I honestly give STAMPER OPTOMETRY five stars in every respect, would recommend it without any qualification, and I give them all my heartfelt thanks.Jose
Great customer service and bedside manner, answered all my questions, patiently helped me pick out glasses, didnt try to push expensive or extra products on me. Great place!
I have been going for the last 12 years and they are the best! I used to be prone to eye infections and they found dailies that are strong enough for me. They are always up to date with the newest and latest technology but still get to know your lifestyle to help you make the right decisions. Certain contacts are not good if you stay up late or forget them for a day. The staff is great too and Jose will fix your glasses if you drop in. I highly recommend them! The optimap system is also great so you dont have to spend hours with the dark sunglasses to dilate your eyes. Also they were the only ones who were able to help me pick out a frame for glasses where I didnt look completely silly! 10 stars for that.
I have been visiting Stamper Optometry for over 20 years and they have consistently provided friendly and competent service.
This office is very disorganized - (i) they forgot to ask me to take out my contacts for the pre-test so the pre-test results were useless (ii) they said I could walk-in at 9AM, then they called me to tell me they arranged a 915 appointment, but in the end, no one saw me until 940AM. (iii) the doctor tried to fist bump me upon leaving which I found to be patronizing and unprofessional.
I have long been of fan of Stamper Family Optometry and now more than ever. Im so happy I found Dr. David of the Stamper Clan. ( Three generations of eye docs in this office since 1913. ) After wearing hard contact lenses since age twelve other doctors told me Id never be able to wear soft lenses. Dr. David, as opposed to his Uncle, Dr. Bruce (called by their first names to avoid the confusion of having two Doctor Stampers in the same office, ) suggested I take a lens holiday. After six months of only wearing glasses I returned and Dr. David was surprised but excited that my corneas looked nearly normal. Decades of polymer plastic lenses do tend to reshape the eye. Mine bounced back like memory foam! Next we discussed my options. Bi-focal glasses? No. Contacts and reading glasses? No. What about monocular vision? I dunno. He explained and said it wasnt for everyone but I said I was willing to give it a try.First he determined my dominate eye. This is the eye you use when looking through the viewfinder on a camera or a rifle for that matter. It usually corresponds to your dexterity. He then fitted my dominant left eye for distance vision. Then my right eye was fitted for close-up. He said some people know within an hour if they can do it or not. I was required to stay on the premises for an hour in the event I was one of those people who get nauseous or dizzy. I must say at first the concept alone almost made me cross-eyed but now I think of it as the Poor Mans Lasik Surgery. I could read the clock on a building a block away, I could read the tiny print in a text message and was relieved I didnt have to fumble about for my reading glasses to wear over my contacts like I had been doing for way too long.I was hooked in the first fifteen minutes. No integration issues for my brain! I dont miss seeing things in stereo, in fact my sight seems to be the best its ever been and the contacts feel like a dream compared to the old school blind child hard lenses I endured for decades. Dr. David s a great find, he specializes in the hard to fit eye. The multi-lingual staff is another big plus. Jhosy got me up to speed on soft lens insertion and removal including a special tip for us long-nailed girls. Sweet Esmerelda gave me the visual test; while Jose was busy tightening my sunglasses that were slipping down my nose but took it a step further and replaced the screw! Sixteen employees, some there ten to twenty years, multi-tasking with the synchronicity of a Swiss watch in their daily routine. The customer service and commitment to the patients satisfaction is outstanding!
They are quick to respond, professional, helpful, and fantastic with follow up...
ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL AND SUPER HELPFUL.
Excellent care and friendly efficient staff!
Dr. Stamper was nice, but the office staff are borderline rude and ultimately very incompetent.
Couldnt be a more knowledgeable, concerned, Optometrist. The best.
Fantastic service, clean office.
Tried to move my confirmed appointment for no reason
Comprehensive, and great customer service
The Dr. is always quick and friendly. She takes time to answer your questions and listen to any concerns vision changes you might have. She found out my old glasses from Lens Crafters had been over prescribed so she changed my prescription and did an overall eye check up.
Dr. Stamper is the best!
Excellent service
