Did a rental through here and it was a great experience. Super helpful staff with good insight on the surrounding trail network. You can pretty much make your ride as technical or tame as you like and the rental bike is well equipped to handle the local terrain. Didnt buy anything but the shop was well stocked with quality gear as well. Wouldnt hesitate to bring my bike here if I lived in the area.

Hands down the only place I will ever go to buy a bike, get my current serviced or buy any gear. I cant say enough about this shop, Mike & Doug! These guys are top notch, and after frequenting a bunch of the shops around San Diego throughout the years these guys really stand out. Theyre passionate about what they do and it shows. Spending what I would consider a large sum of money on a bike I really feel confident in saying that these guys actually cared that I was getting something I was going to be happy with and not just looking to make a sale.I cant say it enough, if you care about talking to people who understand the sport, the equipment and the local rides then North of the Border is a no brainer!

Doug and Mike have been working on my (old) bike for years. Needless to say when it was time for a new one it had to be through them. Patience patience patience, it took me 2 months and countless visits before I pulled the trigger. Never did I feel pressured or obligated to go to the next build up. They sold me exactly what I wanted - I couldn’t be happier. They don’t have the mountains of inventory like other shops but what they do have is quality products, great attitudes and a passion about what they do. Whenever somebody asks me for a shop recommendation it will be North of the Border, thanks guys!

Called in and told them I need a derailer change and a break ajustment. They said they could take it today. Drive 30 minutes their and they said they cant work on it becuase its electric and some other reason. I showed them that its littlerally just a connect that needs to be unplugged but the guy their didnt want to listen and told me if its so easy you do it and to go to another bike shop. Also got to love this. There was electric bikes on the showroom floor. Thanks for wasting my time.

This is an amazing bike shop! They treat you like family and make you feel welcomed, even when theyre busy it feels like a one on one experience and I always enjoy visiting! If I ever have an issue they welcome me right in and get my bike fixed! Whether on the road or in the canyon near by I would not hesitate to stop in and give the toughest little bike shop in San Diego a look. It might be tiny but they have always had what I need to keep me going, as well as all the bells and whistles!

Just got to Del Mar for a month long bike/surf tour. Bike arrived and the brakes were shot. Went to a few local bike shops which estimated 2-3 weeks repair time. Took the bike to North of the Border and Michael said he could bleed the brakes within 1-2 days - bike was ready the next day. These guys saved my trip! Big thank you to NBB, you guys rock!

Leaving 5 star to not taint the score but this is a PSA so no one travels here to be refused. Unlike the post from 6 mo ago saying they worked on a RadRover I was just told they will not work on my RadRunner as its too heavy for their stands.

Brought my road bike in to have a spoke replaced and rear wheel trued. They recommended replacing the rear cable housing. They also adjusted my breaks, indexed my right down-tube shifter (first time in the 4 years Ive had the bike), and lubed up my chain. Took 4 business days but they were up front about the wait so I dont count it against them.$60 total.

Mike has been wrenching my bikes for 3 years. Bought a new ALL CARBON Marin Mt Vision XM8, just a great bike. I am comfortable recommending my friends to NB Bikes. I tell them you cant go wrong with Doug & Mike. Their prices are fair, best in town in expertise, they have the nice stuff. If you want a bike to ride to the super market buy it from Cosco. If you want a Mountain bike, or any other high performing shredder go to North of the Border Bikes. ... Hitt

Either North of the Border doesnt keep up with their neighboring bike shops -- in what they serve --- OR North of the Border doesnt care to help customers who are not in the market what North of the Border services. My situation been about (need of) servicing high end road bike componentry I told NotB that I know they be of atb. But relied on NotB for any closeby referrals of such. I knew there had to be more bike shops within the Sorrento Valley area. All that was replied, to me, was about the Performance Bike Shop. But at some later time, I found of Cycle Quest on Roselle St --- even closer to the Coaster Station than North of the Border.

I recently decided to pull the trigger on a new FS bike and made the rounds to all of the local bike shops (and online.) If you a looking to buy a mountain bike in the San Diego area it is worth your time to visit with Doug and Mike at North of the Border. I wanted a couple of components that were not offered “stock” on the bikes I was looking at. I settled on a KHS SixFifty (6500) and Doug ordered it and had it ready for delivery (with the mods) in 48 hours! Awesome deal too! Really happy with the bike also; Anybody that is thinking about a 650b bike, check out the KHS bikes.
