Useful store that sells all manner of jewelry-making items. I can now fix my mothers earrings for her. The 2 pieces I needed cost a whole 40 cents. And if you want unique beads for a project, this is the place to go. Very nice staff will help you locate and examine any item in the store. Parking is street.

The Black Bead shop should have gotten a review from me long ago however, theyve been around longer than our android and i-phones. I can still remember my days as a happy hippie : My fingers were replete with silver turquoise rings ; I wore bracelets covered with various types of stones and beautiful beaded necklaces.Nowadays, my life has turned itself upside downand I now get a short military style cut - I once worked for both the county and our Federal Government - and both of my jobs required me to keep my hair very short ( Its easier to wash, keep clean and haircuts are really cheap.) and nowadays any hairstyle is usually accepted.I certainly plan on returning to this particular bead shop before the Christmas holidays, as I plan to create several bead necklaces and bracelets for a couple of my lady friends, as such are back in fashion.They have an unbelievably large selection of many different types of beads, as well as some really nice individual jewelry pieces, as Ive made plenty of homemade necklaces and braceletssince my hippie days!The last time that I went shopping there, the gifts that I presented to my very few recipients, were very well received. In fact, a young lady helped me put a necklace together and everyone who works there is really nice and helpful too.Whether the few individuals whom I gave them to really liked them or not, will always be a debateable subject however, its the thought that counts. Right? Now?Where have I heard that question before?Oh man.There I go, waxing philosophical again?

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Totally unprofessional and rude! Im new to San Diego and was in search for a place like this..I came in no-one welcomed me to the store. I understood because they were helping customers. I waited 15 minutes no help but I was patient. I had my two daughters with me and they were playing amongst themselves. The owner rudely asks that I keep my kids quiet as I try and purchase from them I looked at her and said okay... My daughter backs into her glass and she goes ”see this is why Im glad Im getting out of this business I have low patience with people” instead of punching her in the face like I wanted I left. She could have had great business from me today but she wanted to be rude and uppity of her and her business no wonder they’re going out of business

A wonderful store with the most helpful people running it. I have had several pieces of jewellery repaired and/or designed there and have been so happy with the results. Should be called the Patient Black Bead.

I make my way to The Black Bead every time I’m in town. It’s been a few years since I was in town and their prices have sky rocketed. I was disappointed to see they were going out of business, though. There was a big sign saying “Sales going out of business” but there was just one little rack of generic beads on sale.

Huge collection, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Sad they are closing but I hope they will open an Etsy store. I bought several natural Stone pieces including tourmoline, quartz, turquoise, agate and druzy.

Went in and politely asked a lady if they have scales that read to the thousandths place. After I explained to her that I needed them for high end gems and minerals I was greeted by a rude gentlemen who proceeded to tell me that I dont need what I asked for and that they dont make scales that read .001g Sorry for trying to do business locally guess I will stick to Amazon

I have been making handmade jewelry since 2011. When I moved to San Diego (from Portland, Oregon) back in October 2015. I just knew I had to seek out all the bead stores I could find. While accomplishing my very goal, I stumbeled across The Black Bead. And, let me just say that it TRULY is my favorite place to shop for my product. I swear they have everything you can possibly think of when it comes to beads, trinkets, charms and so much more. Oh, and the staff. They are soooooo kind, sweet and incredibly knowledgeable (especiallly Amber) and they will take their time with you when picking out your new items. Go check them out!

Came here in 2001, all I remember was that I bought a couple of bags of beads and some hemp rope to make bracelets, great place though.
