Spent several months truck shopping in the San Antonio TX area. It didn’t take long to find out that most dealerships were not willing to do much if anything to earn my business. Most insisted that MSRP plus dealer markup was the best I’ll find unless I was trading something in. In my search I stumbled across David Strauss at Red McCombs Ford. He not only provided me value on my purchase but was attentive to my request in finding the biggest bang for my buck and cash in on some savings. To top it off we were able walk in at 7:30pm and walk out before 9pm with keys in hand and a satisfied customer. Thank you David, and I’m enjoying my F150 Lariat.

Ok so the purchasing process was great. Great sales team and finance team. However, them ordering your tags is a nightmare. The process with take 2-4 month. It’s been 2 months for me and still no tags. I’m not sure which department or company they outsource it to but change is needed!

I’ve been going to the same car salesman for years and have had great experiences with Frank Zepeda. Frank is always willing to help and go that extra mile. Customer service is also great. I would suggest anyone reading this comment to ask for Frank Zepeda when shopping around for a new or used car. This is an overall great dealership and perfect place to buy a vehicle.
Jonathan Laskowski was very polite and professional, and was able to schedule a serious safety recall repair.However, Red McCombs Ford charged me $446.60 to perform the safety recall to correct a serious and dangerous manufacturing defect.The premise for the extreme charge was because the truck was equipped with aftermarket air bags. The air bags required an additional 15 minutes to perform the repair.I recommend using any other Ford dealer for any repair work. It’s clear that Red McCombs uses any excuse to overcharge customers.
After receiving an email to come back to trade my car in I decided to make an appointment and go. The email offered what they chose not to honor. Although I have previously purchased a vehicle this time the offer was as if my income etc was worse than the previous experience. After only one vehicle was offered it made me wonder why another vehicle wasnt offered like a previously owned one etc. Clearly they dont care about keeping clients.
Took my car there twice for the same reason which was for a rattling sound coming from the front suspension and only to have to return the car to their shop again because what they fixed wasnt the issue. So now that my car was there for over a week they say its vibration from a wheel which I know it isnt the cause for rattling because it hardly had a vibration which it just needs a wheel balance. And now my car is there for what I had initially taken it for the first time and now I have a $168 diagnostic fee so my car sits there untill I can come up with the money Bs!!!
What a great experience! Fred was such a pleasure to work with! I was worried I was not going to be able to find the right car for me but reassured me and found me the best car for my budget. The process was quick and painless! I highly suggest Red McCombs to anyone in the market for a car!
I recognize that this dealership is struggling with inventory and impatient customers, but when a customer intends to spend upwards of $60k on a new vehicle that Ford is struggling to produce, it would be nice to at least get a message from the sales rep and ideally, a call to reassure that the vehicle is on order in the Ford system with some idea as to when it might be delivered. I am contemplating canceling my reservation given the situation. Not happy... with Ford or McCombs.
Had the truck we wanted, wasted no time to get our deal structured and price agreed upon.Waited about 30 min then we were in Final paperwork and out. Ok, I have a mechanic that I typically use for small and large repairs on my truck, they were not able to locate the issue. He recommended that I take it to the dealership. I was very hesitant as I knew the repair was going to be costly....... Mr. Edmundo Valdez was a godsend. I came up from Laredo to see about getting F150 truck. It took me up two hours and 30 minutes to get up there and the person I supposed to see Mr. cole was too busy to help me they gave me another person to help me and then they didn’t even try to sell me the truck. They tried to hustle me because I know they get 30% of the outcome I would not recommend them to nobody. I’m a retired disabled veteran with a 100% disability. Red McCombs is not the place to get a vehicle. 10 thumbs down, the milk has gone bad in my Dave Chapelle voice!

They were very helpful but asking $10,000 over MSRP is outrageous. I’d rather drive to another dealership and pay MSRP. They are even asking that price when ordering a vehicle. You guys can do a lot better than that. Making an extreme profit from one customer rather than gaining several customers seems to be perfectly fine with you guys. This is Coming from a guy who’s bought more than 10 vehicles from Red McCombs. I will no longer shop here.
Everyone was courteous and professional. My vehicle looked great after repairs were completed. It took a week to repair which is what they told me when I dropped off my car.
Very very rude and expensive. Cost me over $300 for a replacement key, and the guy LAUGHED at me when I told him the situation I was in and why I needed a new key… I was 2 months pregnant at the time as well, and to be laughed at and mocked while I just explained the difficult situation I was in?? Talk about kicking a pregnant woman while she’s down… Saw through the window he went and told someone else about my situation and was joking about it with him too. VERY unprofessional! I wish I could remember his name, he was a big white guy. Will NEVER return to this location again! The techs and men who actually worked on my vehicle were nice, but whoever the main guy was I worked with was so rude!

I think we can all agree that going to the dealerships isn’t always the best experience but we had an amazing experience at red mccombs. Our salesman Jose Rodriguez went out of his way trying to find the perfect vehicles for us, spent weeks sending vehicles that matched our needs, he always had our best interest at heart, was transparent about everything and never passed us off to someone else to negotiate with us when we couldn’t agree on price. Even after we purchased our vehicles Jose went out of his way to assure our vehicles were running great and meeting our needs. We are extremely satisfied with the service we received from Jose that will definitely be returning to purchase another vehicle when the time comes.Thank you Jose for all your time and help.
The sales staff was way to overbearing. We couldn’t even park before being swarmed and stopped and questioned as we were pulling into the sales lot. The sales representative assisting us just disappeared and went to another customer never came back. We were looking for the Ford Bronco sport but ultimately decided it was to small for our family. We decided to look into the larger Ford Bronco as an option but were left to look at this vehicle on our own with no option for a test drive or anyone to answer our questions. We ultimately to our business to Jordan Ford and that was a much better experience and we decided to make the reservation for the new Ford Bronco with them.
Did not have a great experience at all. Applied on line, was contacted the very next morning. I gave all info needed and was told I was approved for x amount with $0. Payments would be around 6-700. I said okay. Made an appointment to go in. Once in i provided more info like proof of income. Shortly after the salesman David Strauss returns and says give $3500 down or better yet just stay in the vehicle you’re in. Save up for a down payment. I was shocked as how we were treated. How nothing could be done or any other options on another vehicle. We literally were treated like trash. Not worth his time. I get he works off commission but he didn’t seem to give any other options. I was approved at ipac and was given several options. I really wish he wouldn’t have wasted my time texting throughout the day saying what I was approved for and with $0 down, make an appointment and for what? Waste of time! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. At the end of the day we are all humans and we all have feelings. How you treat someone says a lot about you. Sad!
TC Cowart was an outstanding salesman. He was not pushy but seemed to anticipate our needs and worked to get us the vehicle we were asking for. He went out of his way to take care of the entire process and did not make us feel inconvenienced at all. In the end, we have a new used truck, it looks beautiful, everything he promised was done, and we could not be more satisfied. Requested warranty work on my F-150 to repair/replace a broken rear seat seat belt bracket. The part needed to be ordered, so I came back a week later for the quoted 2-hour repair. After an hour I was told they had the wrong part and I would need to come back once Ford shipped the correct one. Fast forward another week and I get a call to come back in… and only to find out yet again that they had the wrong part. The 30-minute drive to the dealer (my own problem to deal with) makes this just a bit annoying. I’m told the Ford engineering teams have their drawings wrong. It’s now been another month with zero communication from Red McCombs service team. Maybe the seat belt bracket isn’t that important. I came to this dealer because the nearest Ford dealer in my area (Jordan Ford) totally sucks for repairs and warranty work.
Worked with a Chris at the Red McCombs Ford Collision center on2235 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78230.He was an absolute hero and got things done ASAP especially on my short timeline. Super reasonable and great customer service. Chris deserves a raise.
My wife and I went into run some numbers on a new Explorer ST. James our salesman was great. I cant say the same for the manager working the deal though.We did our research and have near perfect credit scores, we know what the deal should have come to. The manager was feeding us numbers that were significantly higher than Fords own website. James did everything he could to save the deal but there was absolutely no way we were going to put down about $8000 to get the payments we expected.The next morning, I called Jordan Ford and worked out a deal over the phone on a new fully loaded Platinum Explorer that cost more than the ST we were working on at McCombs. This Platinum has everything we wanted and then some and it came in under what we were expecting. I also didnt have to put anything down to get the numbers I expected.You guys might convince other customers to make what amounts to a mortgage payment on new Explorers, but that isnt happening to us. Their deal on the Platinum was better than the one you guys wanted to do for a basic Limited. Im really disappointed in this place. Sorry James but your manager cost you your commission.
When I served in the Army my identity got compromised, thus my credit took a hit. Red McCombs truly made a huge difference in the approval process. My daughters Ford Focus went in for service on Monday May 10. Shortly after it was dropped off I get a call from Mo. Letting me know that the Ford Focus had been discontinued. Telling me that this would be a great time for her to trade it in. I was so impressed with Mo. He did everything with out me having to be there. Mo gave me excellent customer service. If you like sweaty used car salesman reaching out to shake your hand before you’ve closed your car door in the parking lot, you’ll love Red McCombs Ford. Poor selection. Patronizing employees. Gouged prices that you can argue down from absolutely unreal to still unreasonable. Cheesy psych101 sales tactics like “sit-n-wait while I go fight the sales manager for you”, “sign by my penciled in price”, “look at how little we actually make on this” defined the painstaking waste of an afternoon on the one car in the lot that seemed to have any potential. Absolute gaslighting from Kurtis the salesman who texted me for days after I walked away from his final offer. Claimed that because of a slow day that he would accept my offer. Then, after I accepted and asked for a picture of the write up, he claimed that the car had sold that morning… yeah. Best part: he had the nerve to immediately try and get me to walk back into that dealership “to see what he could find that day”. If this was your only option for a car dealership, might I recommend a bus pass? Seriously, *steer* clear of this one folks.
Ruben in the service department was exemplary. He could see how stressed I was, being without my car for 2 weeks and having to deal with the automotive department at Walmart. All my car needed was a Ford battery. The Walmart battery that I was given 3 months ago wasnt powerful enough for all the electrical components in my 2017 Ford Fusion, which set off a lot of codes in my car. Walmart wouldnt exchange my battery because with their battery tester it was good. Ruben and his supervisor made everything better and I was back in my car in just a few days. I understand they are busy. I had tried to schedule the diagnostic appointment with McCombs Ford on 410, but nothing was available for 3 weeks. Red McCombs Ford on I-10, scheduled me for the diagnostic the same week that I had called. I will go back to Red McCombs in the future, even though it is farther from my house than McCombs Ford. Thank you for getting me through a stressful month.
Stock number 110827B I did an inquiry about this truck. I was called within a few minutes telling me that they can send me pictures of it I was like that’s awesome. The sales person asked when I could come by and see take it for a test drive. I explained to him that I lived 3-4 hours away and I can not make it in today. But, I am very interested, so interested that I was willing to give credit card information to hold the truck so I can come down the next day. The sales person explained that holds can not be placed on a vehicle. I said understand he then asked again I explained the situation again. He then proceeded to tell me that if I filled out an application for financing that the truck will be placed on hold for 72 hours. Great I said I’ll do that he said I will send you the app and pictures to your phone. Just to make sure when he sent me the photos I asked if I filled out the application for financing that it will place a 72 hour hold on the truck. He verified and I filled out the application after Completion I text him and let him know that I was done filling out the app. He then called me and asked what I was putting down on the vehicle I said $4000. He then called me back and said your loan didn’t go through because you’re in bankruptcy. I said that’s fine I know it was going to go through so I just needed a hold on the vehicle because I was going to pay cash anyway. When I said that let me see what I can do it is the end of the month and so we have to get cars out. I was really interested in it only because it was green it’s my favorite color so I was really really really interested.He said oh OK let me talk to my manager and see what we can do. He called me back he said my manager said if you put $4000 on the car then we can place a hold on the vehicle. I said that makes no sense it’ll take you a week to give me back my $4000 if for whatever reason I decide that I don’t like the truck. I seriously doubt it but I rather not put such a large sum on hold. I said I will give you 4000 to hold it but if for whatever reason I don’t want it I am given a check so that I can put the money back into my account same day. He then lowered the amount I said no issues still applies the most I will do is 500. He then said well what are we talking cash plus licensing and fees and said yes. But, I want to haggle on the price. I know I wanted the car so I was going to see how much wiggle room I had. I offered 12k plus Licensing and fees. He just said no. Didn’t say hey let me talk to you manager and you guys can try to work out a price just no. Not knowing how high I was willing to go he honed lost a sale. Now the truck 3/31 was for 13999 today I went to call about it the price is now 15991. So instead of working out a price they said no and raised the price.

James Cervantes worked hard and very quickly to ensure that the vehicle I ordered would be exactly what I wanted. No nonsense about the price in this currently crazy truck market. The only upsell was another vehicle that was reasonably close to my needs, but not quite what I was looking for. Its a shame I didnt go to them first and had to deal with four other flaky dealerships.
Great sales person. He worked hard to find “our” truck in difficult times. The company, however offered below KBB on a perfect, low-miles, LOADED, new tires, Toy. Sienna, LTD Premium.They finally came up part way, where they would still make ~8K on deal. But, they couldn’t get the truck we needed. They worked hard to find what I wanted, but I was just unhappy with their trade-in value. Seemed very low. So, we bought somewhere else, & a mid range rating.
I ordered a vehicle and the salesman kept me updated once a month. When the vehicle was delayed by months he was diligent in staying up with its progress. Easy transaction when it finally came it.
From day one Jose Zavala sent me a text asking for permission to call me directly. I said of course we talked and compared 2022 F-250 Lariat Tremor vs 2022 F250 Platinum Tremor wanted to know the prices and we have ordered the 2022 Tremor Lariat bad thing is now I have to wait 10 weeks. But he did a awesome job and very knowledgeable as well.

If you want to be treated with no respect and be lied to, this is your dealership. Went without a vehicle for 3 weeks, with no communication other then the part should be here tomorrow. I always had to call and no one called me back. Car was filthy, lied to, and I got to pay $2500 for it all. Gonna sell my Ford and get anything else that is not at a Red McCombs dealership!!!!

Absolute WORST experience I could have ever imagined. Thought I had purchased a brand new ford bronco from them, but little did I know they would screw me out of their business. First I received a call that the car may have been damaged in transit, but they didnt know for sure and would let me know the next day. Two weeks later still no call. After calling management multiple times I was told they just dont know anything. A week later I get a call that the car is fine and will be there in two weeks. Two weeks come and I ask how the car is, and sales person tells me great came in the day before I will send you pictures. An hour later her calls me saying just kidding its not here and another sales men was trying to sale it to someone else. Keep in mind I have sighed for this car already! Then he says oh and it may still have been damaged on transit where it still is. I really dont know anything. Two months later and I still dont even know if I have a car, if its damaged, or if it was sold to someone else. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE! Learn from my mistake!
Dropped my vehicle off for a recall. Dealership “lost” my vehicle. 4 days later they find it, but explain it hasn’t been touched yet. When I inquire as to how a recall can sit on the lot for 4 days without anyone touching it, nobody can explain why. I tried reaching out to the service manager, who never bothered to call me back. And when this ordeal was said and done the service advisor couldn’t be bothered to so much as apologize for the headache when I picked it up. 0/10, would not recommend.

When it comes to Customer Service you Should make the customer feel like your listening, you want the best for them and for them to leave with a Big A** Smile and Robert Chavez and staff did that!!! Hands down the best experience at a dealer ever. I came looking for a great and Robert Chavez made sure that happened. He will be the reason I would go back to Red McCombs. He made me feel like a person not just money walking in the door.
I was there near closing time on Wednesday, March 3,2021. I needed some help with a blue 250 F-250 that had been burglarized. The handle was destroyed and the vehicle wouldn’t look. I had the most fortunate pleasure of meeting Isaac on the service deck outside. We had a great conversation and Isaac was able to help me out until I can bring my vehicle for full service next week.I own a business in Fort Worth! I hate poor customer service. But I also hate when customers have GREAT EXPERIENCES and then don’t report them to the business the employee in employed by. I take great pleasure in letting Red McCombs know that although I live outside the San Antonio area that inside the area, Red McCombs is my go-to place!Thanks, Isaac! Not so great experience for service my truck. No one there to assist you, have to wait at least 30 minutes. Even after service they parked my truck in compact parking or what so but had a small scratches on the side. For future reference, it’s a red sign for me

According to DealerRater.com there are 267 ford dealerships in Texas. Do yourself a favor and use that knowledge to avoid Red McCombs Ford in San Antonio. I reached out to this dealership to buy a new mustang from them. They ran a credit check and then said they would let me know when the car I had my eye on was on its way. They said that since it had not been built, there was no need to put a deposit down and the credit check was enough to hold the car for me. I have been checking multiple times a week to see when this car will be available and today it finally showed as being in transit! Imagine my surprise when I contacted the dealer only to find out that an employee had already put a deposit on the car I have been waiting 3 weeks to be built so I am out of luck. I will absolutely not do business with this dealership and now have a credit inquiry on my history for no reason. Go to any of the other 266 Ford dealerships and do not give these bait and switch con-artists your business.
