It was so nice to walk into a store and be helped by someone that was more than just a cashier or clerk. I just signed up for my first Spartan race and needed shoes for the course. Frankie was knowledgable about the product, what shoes would be best for the conditions and was able to explain why. I had already bought another pair of shoes from a clerk at another retailer that I thought would work. Frankie was so knowledgeable and passionate about helping me find the right equipment, Im returning those to the other store. - Thanks For the Help !!!

This place has everything. Clothing, books, gadgets for different uses, shoes, etc. It is a unique store for buying gifts for the holidays. I enjoyed just browsing the place and being amazed by its variety and style. And its a huge place filled all sorts of goodies. Shop till you drop.

Store has a pretty decent selection of clothing, bags, shoes and outdoor gear. Nice selection of socks as well. I didnt really care for the staff that much. Seems like they just follow you around the store and stare. No real interaction even to say hi or to ask if i needed help with anything. Even when checking out, no words spoken except for how much the total of my sale was.. It was quite an odd feeling. I doubt Ill be back.

Allison helped me find the perfect shoes today for my needs — she patiently answered all my questions and even went into the back to look up answers to questions she didn’t know the answers to off the top of her head. Zach, the cashier, was also incredibly nice and patient as I utilized all my gift cards. Finding great shoes is notoriously difficult for me, but i found a couple of great winners today!

Staff was friendly and they have a lot of cool products. Wife and I werent sure what to expect when entering the store from just the name but we were both surprised. Considering I am an avid outdoorsman and we both love to travel, we see our selves shopping here in the future

This store is a fun camping style store that will satisfy everyone from the avid camper to the littlest member of your family. Great selection of items and the staff was friendly, attentive, and answered all the questions I had. They have great sales too, I picked up lots of good things here I wouldn’t normally get because they were cheaper. I was impressed with their back pack selection as well! After a fiasco at REI, I went to look for some shoes at whole earth, unlike the previous establishment mentioned, I was greeted upon entry. I went to the shoe department and Cody immediately came and asked me if I needed help. He continued to help me even though the shoes I was looking at were not in my foots width. He came out with shoes with a little narrower width but at least I could try them on to see what I thought. My experience in whole earth has always been great and I have bought camp gear, winter clothing and 5 finger shoes there. I wi continue to frequent this store due to the customer service and selection. Keep up the good work and again, kudos to Cody for his excellent customer service

I love this place! The smokestacks make it an unmistakable landmark for them and a great photo opportunity. Once you get inside you can choose your own adventure depending on what kind of shopping you want to do. Looking for toys? Check. Looking for quality camping gear? Check. Need a pair of shoes that will take you to the top of a mountain and back or just down the river walk? Check. Quality women and mens wear? Yup, they got it all. I always leave with what I wanted and a little something else.

This was a wonderful store. I went looking for a pair of Olukai sandals. They carried so many brands of shoes along w with Olukai and the new line of Olukai that were out. Along with shoes a person could find clothing a along with nature projects and camping accessories. Truly a wonderful store.

Felt very profiled and uncomfortable wasn’t sure if my sister and I did something wrong. Were are tattoos and stained shirt to offensive. No one asked if I needed help when looking at clothes and backpacks for an upcoming trip. I even went as far as walking directly to a worker and he just walked away. Will no longer be shopping here. REI will have my business. The one star is for the Hispanic worker who asked my sister if she needed anything. Thank you to her.

First time at a Whole Earth Provision store, it seems similar to an REI but with a slight variance in products and services. More of a focus on hiking and such. I liked their stuff and when I went they had a fair number of clothing on sale. Worth a stop if you are around.

First time going to this store to get some hiking shoes. The team member who help me select shoes was very informative and helpful. Will be back again in the future !

Whole earth provisions is a really cool store I think I could spend hours in it just looking at all of the unique outdoor items and trinkets. They have a great clothing and shoe selection also. I just love everything in this store. There are always plenty of employees that are happy and willing to help you.

Its a great store with great merchandise but its severely overpriced. You can find some good sales every now and then.

Lots of camping items from shoes to tents, books to pans. Too many to explain, just stop by and check them out. I got some trekking poles, staff was super knowledgeable about them and gave me a quick crash course. Will defently stop here again.

Merchandise selection was ok but customer service is lacking. Staff in little groups more concerned in holding conversations with each other than in helping customers. These products can be found at other stores that offer better customer service. Only one staff member paid any attention to my presence, although very uncomfortable. Followed me around the store. Not sure if their if due to high theft or the color of my skin. Regardless, disappointing visit. Will stick to REI and Good Sports.

We have supported this store ever since they supported scouts years back, but not anymore. Pretty over the door police... employees are incredibly rude to my family walking in. Ive loved this store for so long until now. My business will be taken online and we will buy chacos and camping gear elsewhere from now on. It doesnt matter how cool the store is if the door greeters are rude and imposing. It is sad.

Very nice atmosphere

This place is so unique and eclectic. They have a broad range of clothing, outdoor gear and a dedicated section for shoewear. They even have a fun section for kids with toys, games and educational type of things. I could spend hours here.

Great selection of outdoor items and equipment. My only complaint is that (never fails) I am always uncomfortably followed in store by staff. Not sure why, I am assuming there is high theft cases in the area but this makes me feel uneasy. I have brought it to the attention to corporate before. Will continue to shop at this location due to my husbands preference for their selection of outdoor hiking shoes, Patagonia merchandise, and outdoor water and hiking equipment. Either way, my treatment at this establishment is not a reflection of the top outdoor name brands. Due to the limited competitors that sell this type of merchandise in the San Antonio area, my family unfortunately will shopping at this location.

My wife loves this store and shops there often until today. Went in with my wife and her family to get some beach items, including a Yeti chair and blanket. When she sat on the chair to test it out she immediately noticed an employee staring at her and giving dirty looks. When she met eye contact with him he finally walked away. I had noticed him following her family long before she saw him. While I am white, my wife’s family is Hispanic. Whether that was the issue I am not sure, but this is the first review I’ve had to write like this.The employee’s name is French.

I love this store, but I almost always just window shop. I love the mens clothing and upscale camping equipment they stock, but even the mens clothing on clearance is out of my price range. Staff is very helpful, but doesnt smother one with unneeded assistance. They have an excellent selection of books and jigsaw puzzles for children and adults. The one thing that I do purchase here is shoes. The shoe clearance prices are quite a bargain. Whether planning to purchase anything or not, its a great store for browsing.

I was already shopping at the Quarry when, on a lark, I decided to stop by this store to check out their Hoka selection. I was greeted by *two* eager but chill (i.e., non-pushy) associates in their shoe department who were far more educated about their product offerings compared to other specialty shoe stores Ive shopped in years. I happily walked away with a pair of well-fitted Topos instead - plus now I know where Ill shop for my next pair of active lifestyle shoes.

This store is great! I wanted to check out different yoga mat materials and price compare. I was greeted with friendly and informative staff. I had tons of questions that a store associate Rainy(sp) helped me out with. I didn’t buy a yoga mat the first visit, but the second visit I was also greeted. After I made my selection of yoga mat, I was making friendly conversation with Tracey who checked me out at the register. I mentioned how my previous mat was stretching and didn’t allow for certain poses. I don’t know what the return policy was, but Tracey was kind enough to offer her word that I could return if it disappointed my expectations. I’m happy to report that I tried it out, and it works wonderfully. I appreciate the gesture that I could return a used item if I didn’t like it. I’m going to do some Christmas shopping there soon, because this store has tons of neat stuff. Overall great experience.

Really cool store! The prices are a bit high and you may end up just wandering around making a mental checklist of all of the neat things you want, but this place is great to pick up an interesting gift for someone who likes the outdoors. They sell high quality boots, knives, shirts, and camping gear of all shapes and sizes, and the employees are always eager to assist. The area up front has a lot of cool books and toys geared towards children as well.

Worst management possible. I have made a complaint to the manager and had to complain again the other day again,for inappropriate behavior that one of her employees was doing to my boyfriend and I. This is the best store to find unique gifts for children as well as adults. Also offered are good quality shoes and sporty clothing. Prices can be a bit steep, but youre just not going to find a store that offers quality toys, books, gifts, jewelry, shoes, and clothing all under 1 roof.

Awesome store, tons of variety and high end items. The staff was very helpful and super knowledgeable. I wouldve appreciated more variety in brands, not just products. The sales are very good and even base prices are very competitive! The outside is super cool and unique, in the picture you can see the 3 large smoke stacks that say ALAMO, that is the store! Its huge! And packed!

This is one of may absolute favorite stores in San Antonio! They have amazing products at great prices and the best customer service! I recommend people go there all the time. Even now as I live out of state, I cant ever take a trip back without visiting Whole Earth Provisions.

I must say, this place does have good quality inventory, but with a premium price tag. As for the customer service... well... it depends on who helps you. One employee did make me feel very welcome, but a different employee was very snobby and did not care to be polite at all. Warning, I believe he had an orange beard and was a little on the hefty side. Steer clear of that guy, he made me feel like I didnt belong there and that I was insignificant. I kindly asked to see a flashlight in a display case and he gave stared at me for a few seconds with a sort of annoyed facial expression THEN brought out the flashlight and just plopped it down on the counter. The man was horrible. I do really like a majority of the items in the store, but Ill gladly go elsewhere to avoid that jerk. I would give it one star, but I really do like the camping gear and clothing.

My favorite store in town! They carry lots of technical gear for hiking, camping, running, travel, etc. Knives, binoculars, hiking boots, tents, shades with different polarizations, water proof bags, etc. They have neat book selections on cooking different cuisines, history and natural sciences, and a great selection of childrens books and childrens science toys. An eclectic collection of intriguing items usually reserved for museum gift shops, this is a great place to shop for gifts or equipment. I could probably do my years non-grocery shopping here.

If you rich you will love this store. But for us common wealth... lets stick to another place.

Very cool store! Theyve got a great selection of stuff particularly hiking oriented gear. Theyre also pet friendly and have some nice dog toys that look pretty rugged. Good selection of cooking books too!

If you are an outdoorsy camping fishing and hiking type of person....then you need to check this place out. Everything that you need for your active outdoor lifestyle is available here. But it is ALL uber expensive. The salestaff is friendly...not friendly enough to make me want to buy a $120 sun hat but they are friendly and helpful. I usually leave without buying anything at all here....just too expensive.
