Cool little place. Didnt buy anything but I appreciate a small bookstore that really caters its books. If I wasnt on vacation I would have bought some books, and would be somewhere I would go if I was a local!
It was a really nice bookstore. They have a wide variety of books that would appeal to almost anyone. Very friendly staff and some nice souvenirs also. They also have some authors of book come in and they say when theyll be stopping by. I really enjoyed the feeling of the store and would definitely recommend visiting there if youre looking for a nice bookstore. They even have books and toys for kids of all ages.
I love the variety of books they have. Found some nice gifts for my grandchildren.
Small, well-curated book store in the heart of the Pearl District. Perfect amount and variety of knick-knacks, like post-it notes, bookmarks, and writing utensils. Small, vibrant children’s section. I also noticed some books that looked somewhat used on discount; a majority of them are new, though. If I lived here, I could see myself stopping here on the weekend and reading with a cup of coffee on one of the two plazas The Twig borders. Well done!
I just called to look for a book for my friend. Unfortunately, the book was not available since it’s not being printed anymore but Nicholas went out of his way to provide me with the information I needed to find the book somewhere else.Nicholas was SUPER friendly and very helpful. I have not been to this location but I will definitely go because of his amazing customer service!
I recently visited your store with my son while I was in San Antonio to help him after a surgery for burns. We entered the store, which he frequents, to take a look around. I was wearing a mask but he was not. He clearly had a large bandage around his neck and jaw with a cervical collar. We were immediately approached and he was told he must wear a mask. I explained that he’d had surgery and couldn’t. The clerk was completely insensitive. We were given no choice but to leave as others looked on in surprise. It was an extremely disappointing and offensive interaction.
Lots of fun browsing. Friendly but not obnoxious workers. Excellent variety of both books and gifts.
I will never return and I will be sure to let everyone I know to do the same. We brought my brother in law to see the Pearl and I wanted to take him to this quaint book shop I used to love. Upon entering I was aggressively confronted by an employee about wearing a mask. Mind you it is no longer mandated in Texas. When I told her I do not wear masks she told me we had to leave. Since I was halfway through the store I started to move forward to leave out the front door, she proceeded to step in front of me and told me to leave out the back where I came in. Not only is the requirement to wear a mask insane but the staff is incredibly rude and awful. I sincerely hope you go out of business.
Love this local bookstore. They will order for you and even have a delivery service for local buyers. They always have a good selection of staff favorites out and are so helpful with recommendations.
Save your time. Unfriendly staff. Messy store. There are plenty of other options when it comes to buy your books. This store isnt one.
This is store is trash, this is Texas. Masks are not required, not to mention the cdc has already ditched the mask mandates. This is a store, you are supposed to serve me to get my money. I’m not going to be subjected to your outrageous rules and then give you my hard earned money. Stop living in the Stone Age, ditch the masks.
Awful, rude staff. Overpriced. Absurd mask requirement.
I had a very bad experience at this bookstore. There was a rude woman who didn’t make me and my friend feel welcome. customer service needs to do better. but it is a nice place
Extremely rude staff! Mask are no longer required for vaccinated people.. yet these people still demanded we wear one. We left as we wouldnt want to give these awful people our business! The gig is up.. mask are optional folks..
When entering, I was trying to pull my mask over my nose and the lady greeter named Kel aggressively yelled at my husband and I. *Keep in mind that every place is different right now (some require mask and some do not) because of the new rule. Then she loudly stated that I needed to use their hand sanitizer. I assured her that I had my own and she kept pursuing the notion that I needed theirs. It was an extremely awkward moment and I would highly recommend any where but here. Her attitude was far from friendly and she did this to almost every guest until a new employee stepped in.
Amazing little bit store with a little bit of everything and a welcoming atmosphere
Adorable little shop. Terrible in busy days as the layout is prone to congestion. I hope to return when I can shop comfortably. Store was clean and the attendant was pleasant. Seems like the collection is fun and well curated, but due to the crowd, I only had space to explore YA and childrens. Heres a photo of an adorable YA book I discovered.
The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. I definitely would return for further purchases
If youre looking for something different, books are always available, you can find it at the Twig! Its like a treasure hunt! The Twig tries to promote local vendors with beautiful handmade work! Masks, jewelry, windchimes, book markers and so much more! For small children they have story time (Need to check schedule due to pandemic) If you have not gone to the Twig you dont know what you are missing! Come to the Twig to pick up your next book and maybe some extra goodies. If I could give the Twig more than 5 stars I would! You will leave the Twig happy and planning your next visit!!!
Small bookstore, great customer service. Lots of good indie titles.
Always a great time. Diversified selection of books and other fun things
I love small bookshops.
I am vocal about not buying books from Amazon but supporting your local bookstore! Keep local, especially independent bookstores alive and vibrant! Twig is excellent, a nice selection of all categories and genres, modern excellent books and classics. A nice focus on local Texas authors too!
The people who work here are super friendly and knowledgeable. The book selections are interesting and I always find something to read. Great kids section as well with books, games, and educational toys. Support local bookstores.
The twig bookstore is excellent.
My wife and I really enjoyed stopping in and perusing the shelves. They were in a nice location near a lot of other shops and restaurants. Clean environment and friendly workers. Well lit, and it was quiet when we were there.
Cute bookstore! They have a very helpful staff and some great little unique gift items! I bought a waterproof deck of cards for a gift. I also loved the activities that they offer and the wide selection of books for a small space. It also is nice to support the mom & pop stores instead of the big box stores!!
Fun shop with a nice owner.
Amazing, phenomenal staff and selections! This is how bookstores used to (and still should if there were more left) be!
Ive visited Twig Book Shop several times now and always find it enjoyable to browse. The staff is very polite and appears to have a genuine affection for their work. Today they had a guest author doing book signings and a great selection of overstock and discounted books. A quaint little shop with big personality!
I ordered for curbside pickup. They were excellent!
What a neat bookstore. Every time I go there it is busy. Printed books live! They stock an excellent variety of books - best sellers, specialty focus, non fiction etc. I cant visit without buying one or more books.
The Twig is a San Antonio treasure! With both local books/authors and bestsellers, the book selection is second to none. Throw in the beautiful and one-of-a-kind kits and trinkets and there truly is no better place in town to shop for a treat for yourself or a gift for a beloved.
Quaint bookstore with lovely books and gifts. They have a wonderful greeting card selection and cute toys. Great customer service as well.
Beautiful local book store. The proprietor is very helpful, and has a lot of knowledge that she is happy to share! Very happy that we checked this place out during our visit.
The staff was so nice! Pet friendly (I think we have a small pup)
A quaint little bookstore! 😀 I loved the selection of childrens books. Also, the staff there is extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely be coming back soon and I will bring my little boy so he can see for himself all of the different books to choose from.
Very interesting bookstore! Nice atmosphere. A very good plus for the very local books locally published, mainly on the local history.
Nice little shop with great variety located at The Pearl. It was the perfect stop to end my visit at the market. Id love to visit again.
What a great bookstore! Helpful staff. A wide selection of eclectic books with some gifts and cards. The old Pearl brewery had some good eateries after shopping for books.
Fantastic little independent bookstore, great selection and easy online ordering system
Always an excellent curated collection of books to read! Love browsing here.
This little shop in the Pearl district is very cute and it has its own charm to it. We visited the shop because it was one of our destinations in the San Antonio Shuffle Scavenger hunt but we could have gotten stuck here for a lot longer if we didnt have to go to our destinations. The book shop has a lot of variety and its location means once you are done here you can enjoy your new book in a nice area where you can relax afterwards too.
Support your local bookstore! Great gem at the Pearl. Ask for Sarah to get the best book recommendations.
Pleasant and attractive bookstore.Smart, helpful staff and a wonderful stock selection of reading materials.Nice location.I pick my novels for good prices.
Small but pleasant bookstore in the heart of the pearl... Staff is tremendously helpful and shopping experience was pleasant. They stock a wonderful selection of childrens books, and teen fiction.Their nonfiction section was definitely good, but their adult fiction and sci-fi sections were small and nothing really grabbed my attention since those felt kind of uninspired.
Nice book store. Acted like I was bothering her when she rang me up. She was on the computer.
Awesome store!
Very convienient bookstore located in a nice snug little corner of the Pearl Brewery. The farmers market makes it a bit difficult to find but google maps is always there. Staff is helpful and friendly. They even have a section with books in Spanish for kids.
Love this gem in the Pearl area of San Antonio. There’s something fir everyone, including kids. You can grab a book & go right outside to Cured to get a snack, great cocktails/wine and enjoy the surroundings.
Illegal enforcement of mask wearing
An independent bookstore in the Pearl shopping area of San Antonio. It is small and had quite a few customers, but I would describe the product as quirky. You probably wont find many volumes (or even sections) that are available in larger chain stores. The person I was with was looking for fantasy/sci-fi, but found only two titles that he would include in the genre, both of which he had read. There is a childrens section. Its a cute shop, but didnt really have enough of a draw to keep us looking long, and both of us are avid book shoppers.
Fun store. The clerk is helpful and knowledgeable, and theres a fun array of books!
Cute. Small but packs em in! Loved the story time although you have to get there super duper early!
Cute location definitely overcrowded. Things are stacked up on top of themselves. I appreciate that theyre carrying San Antonio writers & books. But I think they waste time trying to duplicate with other shops in the Pearl are doing less than two doors down. Like some of the knick knacks, key chains and bookmarks at the other stores all carry already with more selection.
I love this little bookstore. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because they did not have any large print books in the store. They have to special order those.
Fun but limited selection. I appreciate their San Antonio-focused selection with Texas authors and some chicano texts you cant find elsewhere.
Great selection with a super helpful staff!
Nice little book store.. seems to have something for everybody. Located next to a great bakery and coffee shop.
Loved this little bookstore at the Pearl. Amazing collection. Always nice to spend time over here.
Lovely local bookstore, with plenty of cool cards and gifts as well as a great selection of books.
Well organized space. We went to a book signing. Very helpful employees.
Twig is a small book shop, but the tailored selection is apparent. I went looking for books on food history and bought half of the handful of books in that section. I thought the selection of books in the science/nature/psychology section was also equally eclectic and interesting. They also have a section dedicated to San Antonio for the traveler looking to familiarize him or herself with the areas history. My wife loved the miniature terrycloth Hikosen Cara Japanese-style kitty that is made sustainably by women in Southeast Asia, which I purchased in the store.
Beautiful, independent bookshop! Will definitely visit everytime Im in town.
We visited during story time. It was such a Wonderful experience for my granddaughter. Thank you so much!
A blast from the past! I thought it was gone, but found it over by the Granary. I remember as a kid, when it was still on Broadway in Alamo Heights and Mrs. Nawrocki always made it a joy. I dont know if I spelled her name right, but I hope she still runs the place. Great to see the Twig among the memories still alive from my childhood over 30 years ago. Great staff and prices, too!
Good variety of choices for such a small store. They made good use of the space. The books are all in good condition and for good prices.
Super cute, friendly neighborhood bookshop in the Pearl complex.
Theres lots of fun gift stuff, but the book selection is mediocre. Good selection of kids books, but not the place you go to if youre looking for a particular book. I wish they offered some used books too, but it seems mostly like a touristy place, or a place to get cute knick knacks.
This bookstore always inspires me with what I should read next. Excellent selection and staff.
It was cute. It had the same interest as my choice in books.
Nice little store. Personal and unique gifts. Love the area. Located near great restaurants!
This is what a bookshop should be like. Small, cozy, and filled with selections you wouldnt find elsewhere. Want to find that unique gift for the book reader in your life? Look no further.
This little bookstore is one of my all time favorite spots at the Pearl. The staff are beyond knowledgeable and some of the kindest people you could have the opportunity to meet.
My favorite bookstore in the city! I love it; I just wish there were extended hours at least once during the week for those who do the 9 to 6 gig or commute out of town. Weekends are way too crowded at the Pearl.
Small, well done. Local writers work available. Worth time spent browsing.
Favorite bookshop in the city. The kind of bookstore where you can ask the workers if they have something and theyll know right where it is. Great childrens book selection as well!
Great book store! Lots of unique tchotchkes that will make wonderful and unique gifts. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they have a great little sale cart!
The Twig is the quintessential local book store. Its cozy and charming with a great selection.
Pricey but worth it. There are so few proper book shops left in our shrinking world. When the last book shop dies, so will our civilization.
Nice little place, its what youd expect from a book shop. Small selection of DnD products and knick knacks. I had to go in with a timer set on my phone because places like these are a guilty pleasure and I can easily spend all day looking through everything. I recommend checking it out.
Curious lil book shop and more... You can find a good book and cute little gifts or gift cards and little kid toys even cute little finger puppets to use to read to kiddos. And reading glasses.
Love the feel and the mix of books and gifts. Only draw back not wheel chair accessible. Otherwise though all things good.
I can always find a good book or gift from a local artist here. Staff is very friendly and helpful and always willing to recommend something.
Nice little book shop. Small selection for all ages.
I was going to purchase some items. Nice place but, way too paxked with stuff in a small area. My purse, I was knocking stuff over. Got tired of it, could not shop, so left empty handed.
Stopped in for a meet the author, David Odle. Great bookshop down by the Pearl.
Great little book shop! Amazing selection, check out there autographed section of books.
