Looking for a good mechanic, when we tried this shop. Previous mechanic did not know how to work on a classic car. We have a 1972 Buick Skylark that was tuned and received general maintenance. Roger did a great job. I had been thinking of selling the car because it wasn’t running well. Now, Roger has it running so well that I have decided to keep it. Then, the car was rear ended by a hit and run driver, we asked Roger if he could do the repair work. Wow, it looks fantastic! Great customer service, as well.

I cant say enough about Nadine and Roger. Roger is an expert in restoring automobiles. He repaired my crashed Audi impeccably. It looks as good as new. Nadine always kept me informed of the status of repair. They were extremely attentive and courteous.

I am not from here. My son is in University Hospital and has been for over a month. I noticed on short trips for necessities my Saturn Sky was starting to overheat. I knew I had to have someone look at my car before I traveled almost 8 hrs home. I took my car to Steelbodywork and was met by the most incredibly compassionate attentive people. I was told they would not be able to get to my car that day due to other clients and asked if I could leave it with them. I asked if they would drive me back to the hospital and stop at McDonalds on the way. Nadine said no problem. The mechanic and I walked out, we got in my car and I explained all of the issues I was experiencing. He was patient, attentive, and did treat me like I was incompetent being a woman. He explained in detail what he believed the issue was. We walked back in and Nadine handed me a car key and said please take our loaner, I do not want you stuck at the hospital alone with no way to go. I left called my husband, and prayed it would not be a fortune to fix. Nadine called while I was on the phone with my husband and gave me the possible diagnosis and the fees. She then told me the next possible problem and how much that would be. I told her to go ahead and make the repairs. They called me shortly after 6 and told me my car was ready. They worked late to ensure I had my car in the event my son was released from the hospital( he still has not and will not be for possibly another week or longer). I had the same repairs done in my home town about 5 yrs and they charged me over double the cost that Steelbodyworks charged me. I highly recommend Steelbodywork to anyone who needs a mechanic and wants to be treated above and beyond with kindness. Thank you both so very much! You have no idea how much your display of empathy and kindness meant to me during the most difficult time of my life. Thank you!

I usually dont write reviews but I just had to for Steelbodywork because of how wonderful my experience was! I was recommended by a friend to go here because he had great things to say, and I am glad I came here to fix my car.First, they are quick and responsive. I called for an estimate and in less than 15 minutes, I was contacted with a detailed estimate cost. Then I was able to schedule to take my car in at my earliest convenience. They were flexible with time and understanding even when I was late due to personal reasons. Then my car was fixed in shorter amount of time than was originally estimated!Secondly, they are the kindest! I knew exactly what was happening to my car, what exactly was wrong, and got updates about parts coming in and how much progress was being made. I did not feel like I was being taken advantage of at all even though they easily could have, given my very minimal knowledge in cars.Lastly, they treat you like family. Nadin said their goal is to treat everyone like they are their family and want to make the process easy for everyone. Again, I know nothing about cars, so I was scared when I first damaged my car. I didnt know what was wrong or what needed to be done. They explained everything in detail, and I never once felt like I was being ripped off or overcharged like some other repair shops.I will definitely be going here for all future repairs to my car and I will be recommending to all my friends around this area!!

I was referred here last year by another auto shop nearby and have been very impressed with their service and honesty. Every time they go above and beyond what is asked and the work is excellent. They checked it and gave me a list of codes at no charge. They worked on it as soon as they could and had it ready in 2-3 days and even loan us a car! They replaced my old throttle body. When I came back, the lady showed me the old part and explained everything. Great service and friendly staff!

When I needed headgasket replacement on my 2013 Subaru Forester—a major, expensive procedure—Steelbodywork quoted the best price and the shortest turnaround out of 5 other mechanics I shopped around for quotes from. Steelbodywork/Kayser’s Automotive Service is the best, and most trustworthy, garage and bodyshop in San Antonio. I trusted them with my vintage 1961 Ford Thunderbird. They rebuilt my front end, installed a entirely new exhaust system, properly aligned and mounted my radial tires and chrome wire rims, attached a far better functioning battery and basically gave me the ride Ive always wanted in my dream car. They did everything so quickly, and their work so far exceeded my expectations that I will never take my familys four vehicles anywhere else. Our other cars are from 2012-2014 and Steelbodywork can do whatever we need, regardless of make, model, or age. Take your Classic Car here or take your daily driver. Roger, Bryan, and Nadine are the most professional and trustworthy people I ever met in the auto business. I trusted them with my Classic Car, you can trust them with your car too.

They did a great job on my 77 f150 ranger, they fixed her quick professionally. she was leaking a quart of oil every hundred miles and the when the power steering pump went out i took her in to see the guys at kaysers/steelbody, only too have the work finished in less than a weeks time. they replaced the PS pump some tubing all my seals and gaskets, and even replaced a upper radiator hose that was bloated on the house. they washed out my engine bay (after taking the engine out) and cleaned/painted my motor too top it off.tldr; great people who stand by their work and smart at diagnosing the issue at hand.

Friendliest shop I have ever been to! Extremely honest and caring as well. They won’t fix anything unless you give then your consent and are upfront if they are not sure. I appreciate having the choice. They replaced my control arm, a tire and have done my alignment too and everything is driving super smoothly now. Nadine is the best. The loaner car is also a HUGE plus 🙌🏼. I love then everyone should use them.

I highly recommend Steel Body Work! They did a fantastic job of repairing and painting my 1967 Ford Mustang. I was cautious about getting the work done because I have seen and experienced lousy body work at many places. Roger and Nadine impressed me right away, they were friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the shop was very clean and organized. I decided to get the work done and am extremely happy that I did. You can see the work they did for me on their website. I really liked being able to see the progress, as they posted updates regularly. They are transparent about their work and very meticulous. I had my car overheating and took it to steelbodyworks They check it over and found that I had a bad thermostat and water pump. They keeped me updated every step of the way. The even sent pictures of the old thermostat and water pump. They had my car for 2 day. The best thing is they give you a loaner car till you car is done no extra charge. I will be going back whenever I need anything done to my car.

Just left, and these are the most friendly & kind people. I had an issue with my door closing and in 10 quick minutes they fixed it for me like new. Took my car in for an AC issue and oil change. They gave me their honest opinions and I havent had an issue since. Nadin and Roger are very knowledgeable and honest. Recently went here on the reference of my dad to have shorty headers installed along with a brand new exhaust system on my 2006 Mustang V6, and I am ecstatic with the job they did, had everything installed in 6 hours and they went above and beyond and my car sounds amazing, will be headed back with my next project when the time comes, they charge a very good price for the quality service done on my car, and would 10/10 recommend coming here, very trustworthy and nice people, they will treat you right!

Came in by recommendation. I kept hearing grinding sounds whenever I would turn. We learned that it was caused by damaged CV axels on both sides. Nadin was quick to find the parts and make sure everything would be done right and even offered to do the repairs in separate visits to help my ability to afford them Rodger asked that I step into the garage to see exactly what was wrong and what he would be doing to fix it. A very clean and well organized shop says a lot about the type of people who work/manage it. It gave me a sense of comfort handing off the keys to my 2020 4Runner TRD Pro. After meeting with owners Roger and Nadin, I immediately knew I found a diamond in the rough. They are both very kind, and obviously well experienced. Roger dialed in my wheel alignment with ease (2” lift with stock UCAs), at an unbeatable price.

Steelbodywork/Kaysers automotive service is an exceptional place to take your vehicle whether it is a classic, antique, or daily driver. Roger is extremely knowledgeable and will thoroughly diagnose your problem and give you his honest opinion on what needs to be done. I took my wifes classic 96 Mustang to Steelbodywork, only after getting her permission to let someone touch her 25 year old baby she has owned since Dec 1995 as she doesnt let just anyone work on it. We were convinced the brakes needed to be replaced as we were getting a strange noise when driving the car. Roger checked out the brakes and determined they did not need replacing, then moved on to the wheel bearings and again ruled them out, and after test driving the car he believed the noise was coming from the tires which were 25 years old. He then thoroughly inspected the tires and determined the left front tire to be defective and the other tires showing similar symptoms. After hearing this, I explained to Roger that we have two sets of wheels/tires for the Mustang. One set that came with the car and a special order set of Mustang wheels/tires we purchased in 2008. I had recently put the original wheels and tires back on the car to teach my kids to drive so not to destroy the expensive wheels/tires by running over/hitting curbs while learning to drive. I told Roger that both my kids have their licenses and own cars now so he recommended putting the expensive wheels/tires back on the car. UNBELIEVABLE, he was absolutely right on; the tires were the problem. You see, he could have replaced the brakes and charged me accordingly because I was pretty insistent that they needed to be replaced; BUT HE DID NOT! HONESTY!!!!! This is not what I expected, because of my past experience of taking my SUV in for a free brake inspection at another unnamed auto repair place and being told I needed to have the brake pads, rotors, and calipers replaced for close to $1000. After questioning the technician and refusing to replace them, I told them to put my wheels back on and I will get a second opinion. At that point, the service manager stated they could just replace the brake pads and turn the rotors for $178 but could not warranty the work. Would you let someone work on your car after this encounter? Im sure most people would not and likewise I didnt. THANK YOU ROGER AND NADINE FOR YOUR HONESTY, PROFESSIONALISM, AND EXCEPTIONAL TRUSTWORTHY SERVICE!!!!! I will be bringing all my vehicles to your business for any future repairs and Ihighly recommend them with your vehicles as well!

Best experience ever! Took muy truck in with a fuel indication problem causing me to run out of fuel. They worked overnight to my surprise to have my truck ready for the morning.. did not interrupt my business flow one bit! Highly recommend and thank you with the most gratitude!

Nadin and Roger were both very courteous and professional. I brought it in for an alternator and a squeaky suspension, needed the lower ball joints and stabilizer links replaced up front. I provided a replacement alternator around noon and they sourced the other parts and were done by next morning. The price is great for the speed and quality. I went to Kaysers Automotive for years and years before Nadin and Roger bought the business from them last year. David and Joey are still friends with Nadin and Roger, even coming by to wish them a happy 1 year anniversary! But thats the kind of people Nadin and Roger are, good honest hard working owners, doing good honest hard work.A year ago they did a radiator job on my main auto, and its still running great! I recently took moms minivan in because of engine problems, and they did the spark plugs/wires, fuel injectors, O2 sensor, and repaired faulty wiring and now shes back shuttling kids from practice and school!Nadin and Roger have earned my trust and my business, just like Joey and David did. Im happy to say I still have my repair guys I can trust, and they are there whenever I need them.Tony

Did a fantastic job replacing rusted floor and trunk pans on my 1969 camaro. Roger is a top quality craftsman when it comes to working on classic cars and he and Nadin couldn’t be nicer people. I will be using them again.

I had a vague idea of what was wrong with my car, and they were able to diagnose the issue, explain how much the parts and labor would cost, and get to work on it ASAP. Nadine, one of the owners, texted me pictures along the way and explained to me the work that was being done. The prices were reasonable.
