These guys are amazing! My family has gone to this shop for MANY years. Super honest mechanics and always have your best interest in mind. They never try to up sell you and make you replace things that are ok. They are honest and will give you a rough time line of how long you have until the part NEEDS to be replaced. Every time that I go to this place, I am not necessarily paying for suspension work, alignments, engine work, brakes, etc. What I am paying for is serious PEACE OF MIND. I have the utmost 100% confidence that my cars will be treated absolutely the way that I want them to be. Theres no price for that. This is the only place that I know if in the area that did this for me. For that, I am thankful. This is one of the very few that I trust wholeheartedly not just for my street cars, but also for more my race cars.

Brought a new (to me) Porsche in for an oil change. They rememberedme mentioning that I recently purchased the car so they took the time to look over the car for me. I was surprised when they said nothing extra needed to be done to the car since most places always seem to find something minor. They seem very knowledgeable about German cars. If you have a BMW or Porsche, I recommend taking it here instead of the dealer.

I brought in a BMW cylinder head that had some bent valves. Ekstens was able to recommend a great parts set up (for track) and delivered a finished product in a short amount of time. I definitely recommend them for any street or track car needs.

It isnt really possible to describe how special this shop and its employees are through words alone, but Ill do my best.Every single person at this establishment simply loves cars, period. I made the trek from Syracuse (dropped the car off then picked it up) on a recommendation from a coworker who owns a frequently-tracked E36 M3. Suggesting Eksten was the best car advice Ive ever received. These folks are artists. They are not simply doing repairs or maintenance - they genuinely want to know how your car should be set up specifically for your personal use. Its about as close to a Sharkwerks type of shop that were ever going to get in CNY. With that, they work closely with their customers to select parts, fluids, etc. and are in no rush to get you in and out (some of you will know what I mean by that). Theyll spend as much time with you and the car as necessary to make sure they get it right. My M-Roadster looks and handles better now than when I bought it used in 2008, and as of this year its old enough to buy alcohol.I worked with Rick extensively during this process. He pulled the transmission, fixed the notorious fifth gear lean, replaced the selector shaft seal, clutch, flywheel, lowered the car about 1.5, and several other minor adjustments and modifications. He also mounted NOS Roadstar rims with brand new lugs, roundels, and M badges. All parts looked exactly as they did when I dropped them off along with the car, tires were balanced perfectly, and he even spent quite a bit of time washing the entire exterior before I picked it up. I was as excited picking it up this time as I was the day I bought it.Lastly, the number of race-prepped Porsches in this shop is jaw-dropping. Prepare yourself mentally. Also, leave yourself some time to chat. I picked my car up on a Saturday (theyre closed but said come on down since they would be there and knew that I had to travel a bit). I could have stuck around all day talking cars, and no car is off-topic for discussion. True enthusiasts who love what they do.Would give 10 stars if I could. This the only place i trust for NYS inspection of my classic cars. I have been going for about 10 years with my clasic cars. The staff and mechanics there are very friendly and get you in and out fast. They wont try to sell you something you dont need. They also offer touchless tire mounting and balancing and did an excellent job mounting tires on custom aluminum wheels.

Lots of shops can be competent, but Eksten goes the extra mile to communicate with the customer and provide them with the best service in addition to excellent work.

Ekstans is an outstanding auto shop with A+ customer service. I wouldn’t take my BMW anywhere else for repairs.

After another shop butchered my car last year I was devastated and afraid to take it anywhere. I asked my car club who I could trust with my custom muscle car. They said to take it to Rick at Eksten. When I looked them up I found amazing ratings and reviews about their work on Porsche, BMW, and Imports. I thought my club made a mistake!! Why would they send me to an import shop for an American Muscle car?!Well I tell you what, those guys in my club, they know a thing or two! I took my car in because it was eating starters and I feared my SBC 350 wasnt sitting level. Rick replaced my fly wheel, advised on modifying my starter, and man that car fires up like never before. He called us and spoke to us several times and walked us through every detail. He is amazing!! The only bad news is he is stuck with me now because I wont take my car anywhere else! LOL!I hope my review can help someone else in the future. Custom car, hot rod, muscle car and you are looking for someone you can trust? This place is it! Thank you Rick!!

I brought in my 2004 Porsche Boxster S into Eksten for a pre-purchase inspection. I was driving to NY from ME as that was where the previous owner was selling the car. They were fantastic to work with during the whole process. They brought me over while they looked over the car and pointed out what was good or bad and took the time to explain things to me and my wife. They were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.Im quite sad that I dont live near Eksten because I would SURELY take my car there for service. It was a great experience. I highly recommend this shop for your Porsche or BMW service.

I do all the work on my 8 cars including 4 Porsches (except New York State Inspections of course). I say this so you know I know what Im talking about. Ekstens is a hard-to-find GREAT, honest shop with long term service technicians who are highly skilled and experienced. Everyone who works there are car people.Ekstens does tech inspections for Porsche Club of America members who run their cars at track events. If you have a high performance car such as a BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. this is the place you can trust. They do careful work in an unhurried environment, they are knowledgeable and skilled - they do plenty of race car prep and even have a chassis dyno.All this and they are very friendly and easy to work with on what needs to be done now and what can wait until you have time or money to deal with it. Cant say enough good things about these guys, glad they are in my neck of the woods!They are also happy to work on your family car. Cant think of another shop in this area with such a wide variety of experience.
