Dustin Clark was amazing to work with! From the first call he made after my inquiry until the very last paper was signed! He was informative and knowledgeable! He worked hard to find exactly the right car for my family! Dustin answered all my questions no matter how small they were or silly they may have been! He did this without making me feel bad for asking them! Dustin was amazing! And I wont purchase a car from anyone else again! Also? Juan the general manager really listened to my requests as well! I just needed one thing done to my vehicle and we worked out a deal that allowed it to be in my budget! My car didnt have the remote start and it was important to me! I am scheduled for install in a few days! The process of getting the part and scheduling has also been amazing! This whole process has been wonderful and easy!

Buying a car out of state seems like a daunting task but the team at First Team made it SUPER easy… got my payment in the range I wanted and communicated very well throughout the entire process. I initially spoke with Dustin, but Will walked me through the process and the finance department was TOTALLY helpful and friendly. I definitely feel like I am apart of the VW family. The solitary goal of this dealer is to collect the money from the sale of each vehicle. This dealer doesnt stand behind what they sell, doesnt have an ounce of customer service, and also doesnt care about essentially anything that happens once you drive off the lot with your new vehicle.After purchasing a brand new vehicle from this dealer, the brand new vehicle suffered oil consumption issues every 5k miles 3 times in a row. The dealer only deferred me to dealing with the manufacturer instead of standing behind the vehicles they sell and collecting there $$$$$$.The management team is nothing short of a joke, especially at this highest levels of the family of dealers.At the end of the day, after the dealer and manufacturer not doing a single thing to assist with this consumption issue, I was forced to trade the vehicle in or continue to take my car in every 5k miles (which was rated for a 10k mile oil change)....

We bought a 2021 VW Atlas SEL Premium from Bill Foster and though he was very helpful and seemed to do all he could for us, his hands were tied by many policies I have not seen elsewhere. When talking financing, the manager said loudly from the other room, without coming to talk to us that the payment we were requesting would be impossible, even with 0%, which was not true as we got that payment, under the exact same terms from our bank and he was honestly quite rude, I knew where we stood from a financing perspective walking in. Not only was the dealership unable to take an electronic payment from the bank and require us to have a check mailed to us, they would not hold the car for $7k cash and this was for the most expensive car they had on the lot. We went back and forth for over a week and when that crossed over two different months and differing incentives, we were originally told that the price went up and the bank check would need to be amended. Luckily Bill found a document we signed for the original price and we were able to keep the same pricing. Even after calling to let them know we were on the way, they would not take the car to be cleaned up until we arrived and started signing paperwork, and there was no finance manager at VW, so we had to walk 3 dealers down to complete the deal, and still had to wait for the car to be cleaned afterwards. Honestly, if we had found the same vehicle anywhere within 200 miles, we probably would have gone there. If it wasnt for Bill and the gentleman (I forgot his name) who was showing us the features of the car, this would have been a 0 star rating.

Thank you First Team. They were great. I spent the day going to several shops after roughly a month of looking around online narrowing down my selection and they were simply LEAGUES ahead of the other dealers (looking at you Berglund and Magic City). I was helped within minutes of stepping out of my car, with a genuine smile and enthusiasm I might add, by an extraordinarily helpful and awesome dude, Jose Cespedes. Jose didnt treat me like a customer, he treated me like a friend that was showing off his new toys and wanted me to play with them. I felt like a buddy there already. Now thats only half the battle. First team was exceptionally transparent about pricing and had already pulled about 7.5K off MSRP of my particular model because they understand in the internet age, where anyone can lookup anything, it is important to be honest or be caught with your pants down. They had this car listed for roughly the same or less than the exact same car, year, and trim at other dealers that was Certified Pre-Owned.. and mine was NEW! To top it all off, they were backed up and were not going to be able to do the initial service check but they could tell I was brimming with excitement so they offered to let me take it home then and there and come back for a scheduled service without having to wait.I WILL be buying from them again. Go give Jose a hug for me.P.S. they have 2 Alltracks left, go scoop one before its gone.

I’m from Georgia and while up here on a family emergency, the airbag warning light came on. I called first thing Monday morning and got transferred to voicemail. Within an hour I received a return call from Harold. To make a long story short, I dropped my Atlas off Tuesday morning and had a rental waiting. Even though they were booked solid and short on help, Harold worked me in. They had to overnight a part and had me fixed by Wednesday afternoon. First class service.

We worked with Mike on the purchase of my wife’s new 2021 VW Tiguan. He was incredibly honest and straight forward with us throughout the entire experience. The guys were more than willing to walk us through multiple cars to be sure we knew what we wanted. They were very respectful when we asked if we could take a break for lunch to think over our decision. Any salesman knows letting your customer walk off the lot can be a death sentence. But the guys were great. The car is amazing and we’re so excited. Highly recommend working with this whole crew from top to bottom.

Traveling on vacation and 2019 Atlas shut down. About 100 miles from First Team. Had car towed and Service Manager Harold Woody managed the repair process with Excellence. The car was towed on Sunday and when I talked to Harold on Monday morning they had diagnosed #5 Fuel Injector failure. Parts had to be ordered and mechanical process was extensive. We were able to pick the vehicle up the following Saturday. Car had 9872 miles on it so this was under warranty. Great service from Harold Woody with First Team VW.Back home in GA now and Atlas doing well.

I dont understand this dealerships parts department. You can either call the parts department, leave a voicemail, and never receive a returned phone call. If your lucky youll be able to talk to John in parts who will forget to order the parts, waste your time at an appointment, promise to order the parts and call you on Mobday. Again, never recieved a return phobe call. Have to go somewhere else

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2013 Jetta Wagon from a dealership in Northern Virginia this past April. Soon thereafter I discovered the sunroof was leaking and rattling. I took the car to First Team. I received a call informing me the issue was likely related to the sunroof drain plugs needing to be cleaned. Had they read the note I included in the envelope when I dropped the car off they would have known I had already done this myself. It was mansplained to me that I probably hadnt done it properly. Okaaay...perhaps yall could go ahead and do that for me while the car was there, JUST TO BE SURE that was the issue? No. I was informed that was a MAINTENANCE issue and not a MECHANICAL issue. Ok, I said, this doesnt explain the rattling sound the sunroof makes when driving. More mansplaining. I was informed this was an extremely expensive fix and the entire roof would have to be removed. Fine by me, I said, its under warranty. The person on the phone actually argued with me for several minutes as to whether the car was under warranty before he finally took the time to look on the computer and realized it was, in fact, under warranty. The cat was out of the bag at this point; the expensive fix he had tried to talk me out of would be taken care of under the warranty. They did replace the sunroof parts and it no longer leaks. I no longer had to worry about water stains inside the vehicle, but I did have about a hundred dirty handprints where the installers did not take care to protect the interior fabric.Fast forward three months. Its time for the 60,000 mile maintenance. I get a call saying there is a protective plate missing from beneath the car and it will cost $190 to replace. They wont cover it under the warranty because they dont have said plate in hand to determine what caused the damage or how it came off. Mind you, we have no way of knowing it was ever there in the first place when I purchased the car! Im also wondering how they did a state inspection on the car in July and didnt notice this plate missing. I was told some mechanics are more observant than others. Great confidence building strategy. I have only ever driven the car on flat roads, have never scraped up against anything and have never noticed a plate falling off the vehicle. I called the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle and they didnt even ask any questions before informing me theyd be mailing me the part at no charge and would reimburse me for the cost of installation. Why First Team refused to even CONSIDER this to be a warranty issue is beyond me. They automatically assumed I must have run over something. I almost never write reviews but Im hoping this will draw the attention of this dealerships management. Just because you dont sell certified pre-owned cars doesnt mean you cant treat these cars with just as much care and consideration as the rest of the cars you service. Youre getting paid by Volkswagen for the repairs. Why try to deny claims? I am a single, working Mom. I dont have time for the back and forth. Lastly, the gal who answers the main phone number is blatantly rude. Not once, not twice, but every single time Ive called. If youre not into customer service, thats fine. Get a job that doesnt require you to interact with humans.

Always a great experience! I have used First Team for all of my VW needs for a few years now. Mr. Woody is very knowledgeable and patient, making sure to answer and explain all questions and concerns, as being forthcoming about any fees you will incur. The scheduling staff is very helpful and prompt. First Team very nice waiting area that is actually comfortable and their WiFi speed is fast, which is a great accommodation while waiting on your vehicle to be serviced.

I’ve always complimented the outstanding service I receive from Harold and his team at First Team around town. Not once have they failed in providing top notch service and professionalism to me and my family over the past VWs we’ve owned. Amazing team. Sadly it takes only one negative encounter with a gentleman with whom I picked my keys up from to erase all the other positive experiences I’ve had at First Team VW. This man was so condescending and arrogant towards me in front of other people simply because he had to place a phone call to find my car key. I never put up a fuss about the situation. I did not deserve to be treated like that. Miscommunication perhaps? Possibly my error? I’m not sure. I was just told loudly that next time I better make sure I get the right time down right so he doesn’t have to run all over creation..Wow. My bad, buddy. I thanked him for his overly kind words and left with embarrassment.The only reason I will ever step foot on that property again is because I know Harold and his service team at VW have more care and compassion for their customers and it’s obvious. Tony Hall is a great salesman and he really works to not only get you a great deal on an excellent vehicle but also cares about you after the sale. Although it took a while Harold kept us updated about the progress and made sure everything including previous recalls were completed during the service. My sales rep Joe Dudak was fantastic from the moment I first visited. He took time to figure out what was important to me and one week later Im driving a car that meets all my expectations. Purchased my very first Vokswagen through First Team Volkswagen! Got the 2019 VW Atlas.Everyone weve seen and worked with at this dealer were very friendly.Dale Stanley was our Salesperson, and he was an absolutely pleasure to work with. Very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. Never felt like we were being pressured to make a purchase at any point. Also, I think he looks and sounds a bit like Matt Damon. I would highly recommend asking for him if you go.Regarding the price of the vehicle, the dealership had HUGE, fast - fair - easy prices listed on all vehicles. I normally have to look at the sticker price and due a lot of research to figure out how much I want to negotiate the vehicles price to. (Typically 12% - 18% below sticker price) However after doing a lot of research, I concluded that the HUGE, fast - fair - easy labels on the cars are in fact very competitive and matched (or were close enough) to prices I saw on both cars.com and autotrader.com within 250 miles! So I had no need to negotiate a better price, which took a lot of pressure off.

I just purchased my second vehicle from First team. My 2000 Beetle had all the service done at FT. I now have a 2013 Tiguan. Justin was great showing us through all the bells and whistles of my first new car. Everyone involved in the process was friendly and helpful. My only suggestion is to cut down the amount of time it takes to purchase a care. I would say excluding the test drives, it took 4+ hours in all. Luckily everyone was great during the time.

Travelling northbound on I-81, our VW failed near Roanoke. We pulled in a couple of hours prior to closing on a Saturday, holiday weekend. Harold Woody was able to fit our vehicle in for diagnosis before the close, whereas I believe most service departments would have likely shood us away. We had to end up leaving the vehicle with First Team and grabbing a rental (where here again, First Team and Dave Wood stepped up and gave us a ride to the rental company!). Over the next week as the vehicle was being repaired, Harold kept us informed with the status if the repair. We ended up transporting the vehicle home, but it would not have happened had Harold not interacted and coordinated the pickup. Thanks Harold Woody!! Give the situation, it was pleasant to cross paths with you and appreciate all you did to get us back on the road.

Took my Jetta here to have a new clamp placed on my heater core. Once they did that they reattached my hoses under the hood back to the back of the heater core. $260 for those simplistic things. Since then, I have had an antifreeze leak from the hoses under my hood that only started once I left this location. I called and told them about it and was told that they would take a look at it, but I would still have to pay to have the leak fixed. I’ve had this car a year and this leak started the day I got it back from this service location. The leak is coming from where they connected my hoses back. I’m annoyed that I am expected to pay to have them fix something that only started once they laid their hands on it. Despite this, I need to have it fixed and no one works on Volkswagen where I live. When I tried to make an appointment to bring it back here they told me they were unable to do saturdays at all because they don’t do service on weekends. I’m a doctor and hardly ever have time off from the hospital. Saturday is my only day off. So on top of telling me I would have to pay to have something fixed that only started once they touched my car originally, they made zero effort to help get me in on any Saturday. This place needs a course is customer service.

I was looking for a new Jetta. I made sure to do all my research and ask a ton of questions before I went out there as it was over an hour away. When I arrived the salesman I was supposed to talk to was with someone else, even though I had an appointment. The guy I did deal with acted like he really didn’t want to sell me a car. Gave me a 8.64% interest rate quote even though I’d been preapproved for 1.9. Charged me $4500 more for the car itself than what was on the sticker that was on the car, even though with the sale that was going on it was advertised “everyone pays sticker price.” Charged me fees that were supposed to be waived for the sale they had going on (one of the ?s I asked before going out just to verify) and when they wanted to charge 4.3% tax and I said it was 4.15 according to the dmv website he said “ma’am, I sell cars everyday” yeah, well you obviously rip people off everyday too, because I did all my research and all my homework before allowing them to run my credit and it was all lies. They ran my credit 3 times, dropping my score 50 points. I ended up getting my Jetta elsewhere and had an amazing experience doing it. I will never go back to any first team dealership.

But my saleman, Duane Emerrick, introduced me to the new and larger Tiguan. Terrible experience. Emailed salesman with a list of exactly what we were looking for after stopping by to test drive a few vehicles. After a week of no email or call back with vehicles matching our wish list, we stopped by again. Salesman acted like we were inconveniencing him since he already knew our criteria. We stated we just wanted to see what the current specials were and if a car could be brought in for us. Financing employee treated us like we werent smart enough to understand the pricing and like we were an inconvenience. Other worker tried to find us vehicles to dx and when we stated what we were looking for, a VW Sportwagen manual, stated well I dont know if there are any of those. We explained we had found several within a 300 mile radius, but wanted to purchase through them if possible. He still talked down to us after finding multiple vehicle (which took a matter of minutes) and stated he would call if one of the dealerships would accept a trade. That was three days ago and yet to hear a word. I understand the care dealergame, but Ive never been in a dealership where Im exchanging looks with my fiancé, clearly upset, and trying to decide when to walk out of the place. Those we talked to were unknowledgeable about their inventory and multiple times we had to correct them. Needless to say, we will be taking our business else ware.

Our experience with First Team Volkswagen was awesome! Steven Waskey was by far the best car sales man we have ever dealt with. When we went to the dealership we were just looking but of course planning on buying a vehicle soon. Steven was very knowledgeable and went over the 2014 VW Beetle with us thoroughly. NEVER AGAIN. Purchased one of the diesel TDI (emissions scandal cars) in 2013. The salesman was great and the car wonderful! My problem came in today. We turned in all our info for the buyback and scheduled our buyback appointment...first available JANUARY 5!? Drove over to the buyback lot and the employees there had nothing to do. The Ambassador for VW was there and explained to me they had no appointments coming in or scheduled. I asked if he could go ahead and take my car. He said no that I needed to contact VW. VW told me to contact the dealership (First Team). Dealership was helpful but put the blame back in the court of VW and offered to take my car any day the following week but it would have to be scheduled through VW. After an entire day of the runaround, VW finally just admitted they had shut down scheduling for December even though they had many many slots open blaming once again the dealer directly. The buyback center will have the money for my car sitting in their hands tomorrow, but I have to wait a month for my appointment. Way to go VW....someone definitely dropped the ball on this one. I was planning on buying another VW or an Audi but after this service, I will pass. Highly disappointing.

In the interest of keeping this review as short and succinct as possible, there are two reason I would not recommend First Team Volkswagen. Firstly, they are sneaky and like to hide things in contracts and lie their way into getting more money. Secondly, their service department is a total nightmare.In starting a lease on my car, I was told that the dealer offered unconditional price matching, a bit of a stretch of the truth. While they did match the price of an identical vehicle at another dealership, my salesman, Jason, was very skeptical about doing so even after seeing the ad for the other vehicle. Jason went as far as calling the other dealership to make sure that the price was correct. After this, I was told that the price I requested that they match did not include destination charge, something that I would later find out was not true, and so they would match the price but then add about $800 for destination charges. At that point, I had grown impatient and just accepted the story and their pricing. Continuing with the same lease, I VERY EXPLICITLY requested that the VOLKSWAGEN Factory Service Plan be added in to my overall payment. I requested this plan because I live in two different places during different times of the year and like the flexibility of being able to take the car to whatever VW dealer I want to have it serviced, a fact that I REPEATEDLY mentioned to both Jason and the sales manager. After reviewing the paperwork, I found that I was overcharged by about $150 for my service plan. When I questioned this, I was told that I received the First Team VW Service Plan and that it was better (it was not). I insisted that this be changed to my initial request, and after several (4 or 5) grueling conversations with the sales manager defending my decision to have the VW Factory Service Plan, I was refunded the difference. Yet another negative was that the sales department was not willing to pay me even close to book for my trade until I set the papers down and started to walk out, at which point they got a lot closer to the appraised value in record time. All in all, a process that should have been easy and taken an hour or so ended up taking 3 weeks, all thanks to First Team.Secondly, the service department is dreadful. They say that you may call and make an appointment and wait for your vehicle while it is in service, and that they dont offer loaners because their service takes less than an hour. What they dont tell you is that they are constantly overbooked and repeatedly try to pencil others in at odd times, making your wait longer and leaving you stranded at the dealership. While they do offer a shuttle service, that does not help much if you live outside of Roanoke. Also, the service manager Woody is a major jerk (Pardon my use of the expression, but theres not a nicer way to put it). He has repeatedly gotten sarcastic and rude with me in the past when I ordered parts to fix my last VW myself. I was once told by Woody that I shouldnt even be trying to turn a wrench on the car if I wasnt a VW mechanic. Never mind the fact that I was very familiar with the engine, and the car in question was both owned by me and far out of warranty.Overall, I feel that every time I go to First Team I am disrespected in some way: be it having to justify my decisions on what I am purchasing as the customer, having my requests disregarded, having to wait forever for my car to be serviced even though I scheduled far in advanced, not being given a service loaner despite living out of town (I would be more than happy to drop it off the day before and pick it up the next day when it is finished, if I received a loaner like I do at other VW dealers), or being talked to like I am an idiot or a child by the service manager. First Team is not a class act. As an alternative, I would recommend either Flow VW of Winston-Salem or Terry VW of Lynchburg if you are in the NRV area. While both require a good bit of extra driving, they both have friendlier staff, better amenities, and overall a higher sense of integrity.

I personally have never dealt with First Team before, but after coming there to buy my new vihicle, I was very impressed. My dealer did a great job in telling me the differences in the vehicles i was looking at, the Hundai Santa Fe and the Nissan Pathfinder. All of the pros and cons of each vehicle and the benefits that each vehicle offered were explained to me very well. On top of all of this, its amazing that the dealership offeres what they do when you buy a new car. I get the free oil changes for the life of my ownership of the vehicle, free inspections, and if I keep all of the service work for my new Pathfinder at First team, they will warranty my engine for life as well. For all of this I highly reccommend Colby Fitzgerald as a salesperson and First Team as a dealership. AMAZING COMPANY to do business with.
