Pulling into their parking lot everyone is outside fascinated by a pick up truck I go into the office there’s no one there to greet me a worker comes in places a paper on the counter and walks out as if I wasn’t standing there. I go outside and I ask who can I speak with about getting my car inspected the man then says he can help then tell me it’s gonna be 2 hours until they can get to my car because they have cars already there to do ( BUT NO ONE IS WORKING UNLESS STANDING OUTSIDE TALKING IS WORKING ). Not a good experience

Where do I start? Ellis was nothing short of an amazing experience!I was flying in from Chicago to look at a vehicle from a private seller and wanted to find a reputable, trustful mechanic near the airport. I looked at Google reviews and found Ellis. I called ahead to tell them the situation and they stated their shop was first-come-first serve, and to give them a call the same day to verify the busyness of their facility.I landed at RIC airport and called immediately to advise I was on my way in; they stated my vehicle seller was already parked and ready for an inspection. At this point there was only 1 truck ahead of us to be serviced and then we would be next. When I arrived, it was only about a 20min wait and in the meantime, they allowed me to check out the vehicle I wanted to purchase.The nicest gentleman helped us out (I was not able to get his name but he was young, blonde, and blue eyed) Before even starting the service, he helped figure out the tricky sunroof I removed and needed to put back on. He figured it out in no time and then let me record it so I could do it on my own when the time came. Shortly after closing the challenging sunroof, this blonde, blue-eyed beau continued to inspect the van by taking it to the lift. He looked inside and out, up and down and provided his sign-off saying it was in tip-top shape and well maintained. The total inspection was another 20min.All and all Ellis was incredibly personable, quick, efficient, and probably one of the best experiences I have had at a mechanic. If only they were located in Chicago! Thank you for everything, James & the rest of the Ellis team, you all are THE best!

Excellent service. Staff was very professional and prompt. The mechanics there are very knowledgeable and may I add, theyre Master Mechanics with every speciality known to fixing your vehicle.. You will not be disappointed, and most of all they are honest and reliable with getting your vehicle fixed with warranty on the road to dependability.

I highly recommend Ellis Auto Service. They are honest and highly capable. My son had an issue with a defective part but could not return to Ellis Auto because he had moved away. Jamison was responsive. He reimbursed my son for the defective part along with the associated labor costs. Hes an honorable person.

My warranty was very cooperative and got my A-C fix immediately with the ellis auto service. I really appreciate them because they helped me out immediately right then and there. They are closed on weekends and got my A-C done on Monday on the same day and it worked 100% perfect

The customer service was amazing. However, they tried to rip me off when it came to a simple exhaust repair. I was quoted a little over $900.00. A brand new exhaust system for my car from bumper to bumper is only about 300.00. Good people work here, just be wary and look over quoted work.(I got it fixed at another shop for $131 thats with the part, labor, as well as a work warranty.)

When there today at approximately 7:10a.m. Noticed employee working in bay .Noticed sign stating that they opened at 8am. Just wanted to ask if they still did inspection. Knocked at door greet person with good morning .The person working was so rude.I know my worth as a consumer.I dont allow people to be disrespectful toward me and then i support there business. Word of mouth is one of the best ways of advertisement.!!!

The best mechanic shop in the Eastend

I was searching for a mechanic shop to quickly and cheaply repair my daily driver, and decided to give Ellis a shot... Was pleasantly surprised! The very friendly staff here quickly found the problem and got me an estimate, and then drove around to get the parts and had it completely fixed in the same day. Also the price was below just about every estimate I could find online for similar problems. Hopefully wont have any other problems for awhile, but if I do, I know where Ill be going.

The service there was amazing. The prices are unbeatable and I was in and out. The guys there are awesome and made sure everything was working perfectly before I even stepped back into my car. I would highly recommend this auto shop to anyone!

Jamie is the best so honest but the Mechanic and or state inspector is just no good for the shop this shops used to be four Stars from staff to service it was all excellent now not so much.

Had an appointment at 8am. I called at 11am and was told it was next. When I hadnt heard anything by 3:30pm, I called again and was told it was just pulled in; they said I would be called back within an hour. No call that day. Finally got a call the next morning and was quoted $800 more than a second opinion. $103 later (for them to just find out what was wrong and tell me 26hrs after my appointment time) I was out of there and on my way down the street to another shop.

Thank god I decided to get a second opinion and didnt let Ellis do the work.They almost conned me out of about $900 in unnecessary work. I went there two weeks ago as a first-time customer. I came to them with a steering issue and a coolant leak issue. They quoted me at $1,352 for parts and labor.Steering issue: They tried to convince me that I needed a new power steering pump, in addition to a new rack & pinion. This wasnt the case. The pump was only 1 year old and showed no signs of damage (confirmed later by another mechanic).Coolant leak: They tried to convince me that i needed a whole new radiator. I later confirmed that it just needed two lines replaced.My experience at Ellis Auto was negative and disheartening. I will never consider bringing any vehicle there, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone. Theyll con you out of your hard-earned money if you let them.Ellis auto price: $1,352Other mechanic: $438

Jamie And Michelle have been keeping me and my family on the road for years.I once thought it was a good idea to take my car it to a cheap repair shop on Williamsburg Road near the skating rink .....boy did I learn a very expensive lesson. $2500 and a law suit later I should have just taken it to ELLIS AUTO.When you want it fixed right the first time, just take it to ELLIS. Save yourself the headache.

Jamie went above and beyond to help me get my car legit for inspection. Needed some license plate lights last minute before my inspection. He stopped what he was doing and grabbed me some bulbs. Saved me money and helped me out. That alone will make me a returning customer. Thanks again Jamie

I trust them for all my auto needs. They are fairly priced, and straight forward. They dont mind taking a few extra minutes to discuss things or reassure you. Ellis prices always come in under what any other mechanic will charge. They even did a couple of minor things on the back end of a job for free. I like these guys and I take all four of my vehicles to them whenever I have an issue. Great and friendly place to go to get vehicle repairs and maintenance.
