CarMax is a great way to buy a used car. Dealerships with their sketchy sales tactics left me frustrated so I decided to buy a car at from CarMax and the process was great. The return and the warranty policies are the best you can get for a used car. I went to their lot and looked at hundreds of cars from outside and decided to look inside a car that I liked which they were very helpful with. A week later I ordered that car online. I was going to pay cash but then I wanted to check out the financing and they offered me a great rate so I went ahead with that and they delivered the car to me the same day. They let me test drive the car before signing the paperwork which was very helpful.Overall CarMax in general does have cars priced higher than dealerships but its totally worth saving you from the frustration. If getting the most for your money is the goal then a private sale is the best option but if a fair deal without any hassle is your goal then you cant go wrong with CarMax.

Great experience in selling my Car . It was very smooth and Appraisal value of my car was very satisfying . It only took an hour to complete the entire process and i was out of office with check in my hands .Before I took my car to Toyota dealer and they priced my car 6k below what Car Max has offered . Easily the best used car dealership in the area. My wife wanted to upgrade to a newer car as hers was getting a little old and was an absolute base trim level (manual everything, no cruise control, etc).We found several good deals on well-maintained cars. We were lucky to catch a Hyundai Veloster as soon as it became available for sale and scooped it up.The buying process was better than most dealerships, though due to some issues with their computer system we wound up having to sit and chat with the salesman for a while and the electronic signing was offline when it came to get everything finalized.My primary complaint would be about the long company spiel we had to sit through as part of the buying process. I get that it shows solidarity but I think it should be an optional diatribe. I kept wanting to click Skip but alas, it wasnt a video game...Ultimately we got a good deal on a well-maintained car with added warranty added for good measure and they bought her car helping reduce the loan amount even more.I recommend CarMax if youre in the market for a used car, but make sure to have them skip any chatter not related to the actual sales process.

This was the first time finding a car and doing most of the process at home. Im very pleased on how quickly the purchasing portion of the deal went. My only reservation is the time it took to receive the car that I selected. It was shipped from eastern state. once it got to the local CarMax lot, it took more time to make minor repairs from transit. Overall I can appreciate that CarMax holds a high standard on the cars they sell and I feel I received the best deal . I was given a refund on shipping fee. It very likely Ill go this route again when purchasing my next vehicle. The representative I worked with was very knowledgeable and kept me informed the whole time of the transaction.

Very simple online instant offer process, I tried several other services and they were more complicated and they offered less. Once in the Carmax location I was greeted instantly and directed exactly where I needed to go and everything was well explained. I was given accurate wait times for the in-person inspection and preparing the sales paperwork. The operation was simple, relatively quick and very well staffed.

What an unexpected fabulous experience. I went online last night, got a quote and set an appointment for today to sell my car. I drove there (had my title and registration) and in 60 minutes I was offered the exact price of my quote. No bait and switch. I was out the door with my check in hand. I will never sell a car another way, always with CarMax in the future!

The sales team were great I’ll rate them a 5 star on it however the service team they don’t deserve any stars. When I bought the car I had warranty and I had a break light on . I had them keep the car to be serviced and they provide me a rental they state there’s no issue. Anyways I took the car to a certified mechanic shop and told me that the break pads needs to be replaced . I told them about that while I’m still in warranty and they said that’s not the problem .Anyways, I went with a private mechanic instead to have my break pads changed and when they took out my breakpads it was close to the metal . Something so simple that the service team couldn’t do . Also good luck in getting yourself an appointment . When I first wanted to schedule my car to be serviced I seemed to always end up in their voice Mail

I purchased two vehicles from Carmax in SoCal, one 15 years ago and another 12 years ago, so I was already familiar with Carmax. Fast forward 12 years, and this time I was looking to sell a second vehicle that we were not using because we are working from home. I tried the usual, listing on Craigslist and Offerup, here in the Puget Sound region, but the multiple folks that contacted me made low ball offers seeing the vehicle. After about 20 days of wasting time back and forth with folks, I decided to try Carmax. I made an appointment online for an appraisal, and I showed up to a very clean, very spacious, very airy building/showroom (the airiness and cleanliness was greatly appreciated during this pandemic). I was welcomed warmly by multiple folks. I was assigned to work with Tom Gardner, who was also super courteous and welcoming. I explained that I wanted to sell my vehicle, and he explained the process - appraisal, an offer,7 days to think, and then selling process and what they would need. I agreed to the appraisal, and this process took 25 minutes. Carmax came back with an offer that was more than what I had listed my car on Craigslist and Offerup! I had 7 days to think about the offer, during which I tried reposting my vehicle for more... No one wanted to beat the offer, so that confirmed that Carmax made me a great deal that I could not refuse. After 4 more days of back and forth with more folks, I decided that I had enough and to pull the trigger with Carmax. I arrived at Carmax, and it was much busier than when I had gotten the appraisal. The selling process was very straightforward, but quite a few folks were in queue before me. 45 minutes after I arrived, I got a check, and 30 minutes later, I deposited the check at my bank. In terms of overall timing to sell, I left my house, completed the selling process, and cashed the check at the bank, and got back home in about 2.5 hours total... Not bad. The funds cleared by the next morning. Overall, Carmax did an excellent job of simplifying the whole selling process, and I highly recommend getting an offer from Carmax when trying to sell a vehicle!

I will never buy another car from Renton carmax the sale manger need to find a job he like, all he is doing is giving Carmax a bad name. I went to pick up my Testa on Wednesday the car was not ready I was told I can pick it up on Thursday when I got there the car was in the same spot. Also there was only 15% changed the manager told me to take it to Testa super charge and send him the bill that not my job when I am getting 2021 car. He call me to day and ask what can he do I told him I don`t need a detail all I need is the mark remove his answer was; you can bring the car back and get your money.

The process of buying a vehicle through CarMax was so much easier than a traditional dealership. With CarMax being a nation-wide dealer, theyve got it figured out what makes it easy! Being able to get all of my financing finished before even arriving to the dealership was awesome. The vehicle we purchase was as-advertised and CarMax even offered to replace our key fob when they noticed it was damaged - free of charge! I will look to CarMax again for my future vehicle purchases.

I went to CarMax in Renton to sell my car. Process was quick and super easy. Staff are friendly, chill, and know what they’re doing. They will not force you into anything like most places will! I made an appointment the day before and was sent an email reminder as well. As soon as I walked into the building, I was greeted and asked what they could do for me. They directed me to the “sell your car” area and the gentleman there said they’ll get the next available expert to help me inspect my car. They offered water and we waited about 20 mins. The inspection of my car took about 10 minutes and they explained to me everything I needed to know and if I had any questions. Got my offer (which is valid for 7 days) and was extremely happy with it! They offered me a thousand more than the dealership for a trade in! I really appreciate how they don’t force you to buy a car with them. For safety during COVID, they are following CDC guidelines: social distancing, cleaning, new pens for customers to have to reduce contact, countertop shield barriers, etc. Thank you CarMax for making the process easy, for your expertise and kindness, and for giving me an amazing offer on my car! Have already recommended to friends and family about your business!

I was in a hit and run, the insurance company deem that I was not at fault at all. The insurance will pay and fix the damage, but Flex Drive has confiscated my money and attempting to collect more from me. They also kick me off they program offering me to find more money and use the Hertz-Lyft program, when other is the same people just using different methods.

They bought out our lease allowing us to get the equity out of the vehicle as I was significantly under my mileage. The process was super easy, though it did take a few hours at the dealership it was totally worth it.

I have been extremely pleased with purchasing and selling with carmax over the years!!!! However, when purchasing a vehicle out of state with carmax i was only given a 3 day paper plate... and was told once I get back to my state that my local carmax will help me apply for another paper plate until my paperwork is mailed to me.... UMMM YEAH... My local carmax said they have NEVER heard of that. So... in the meantime Im driving around on Expired paper plates until my paperwork comes in so I can go to the dmv to register my new car. Although I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my new purchase... I am NOT sure/ nor comfortable with this type of business!!!

I highly recommend CarMax Renton. My husband and I have been searching high and low for a new car and finally found the one at this location! They allow you to have a 24 hour test drive, to truly make sure you love the car before you buy it. Our salesperson Tim, was absolutely amazing. Personable, transparent, and hilarious. He also never made us feel pressured into buying the vehicle. I also want to mention he stayed almost 2 hours after his shift ended to make sure we were taken care of. After our 24 hour test drive, we purchased the vehicle, and were in-and-out in less than 2 hours with all papers signed (which is unheard of when buying a car). We loved our experience and would highly recommend CarMax, but specifically Renton and with our salesperson Tim!

However, I learned about CarMax from other reviewer and did some research and found out their offer price was the best compare to other websites such as Vroom and Carvana.It took about an hour from the time I arrived at their dealership until I got the check in my hand. The facility was clean and well organized, upscale building, uniformed staffs were friendly and professional, they honored the quote I got online. Even provided me the free wi-fi while waiting and the ride back home after the transaction is complete.It was simply the easiest and best car transaction ever!Highly recommend and would consider again for selling and buying cars in the future. We had an incredibly positive experience! Our sales rep was friendly, funny, and very kind. The gentleman that he was training was also very nice. We were there for over three hours, and each time we found a car that we wanted to test drive, it was on hold for another buyer. The rep was very apologetic about the entire situation, and kept checking with his supervisor if there was anything they could do. We finally found a similar vehicle that was available and he made the rest of the buying process quick, neat, and enjoyable. We left that same day with an incredible vehicle. Very satisfied with Carmax!

SO and I had a great experience. We worked with Darlesha (I think that was her name) and Tim- both being very attentive, informative and extremely helpful. Besides the hour and 20 minute wait to test drive a vehicle (I mean, it WAS busy and tax return season, so I cant blame them), everything was a breeze. Only thing I would recommend to improve on is to keep customers/guests in the loop if they are waiting for a bit. Were pretty easygoing, so we understood why it possibly was busy, but with other customers it couldve been a different story.We first worked with Darlesha when we came in on a whim to test drive a vehicle and she was attentive and wasnt pushy. She made sure to check in on us when we were on the lot looking at vehicles and put in effort to see if she could help with finding the right car for us. Made appointment but vehicle was not ready at that time. Upon arrival I had to be looked up and process for getting vehicle ready started while waiting outside. Initial paperwork process was easy but following paperwork has been frustrating and time frames are grossly inaccurate (instead of 3-10 business days for title as advertised told 60-80 days). Work orders still not fulfilled two weeks later. Tags not mailed upon request nor notation that we even spoke in system.

I couldnt have been more surprised when Carmax exceeded my expectations. They were friendly, honest, and helpful. I loved how much they sanitize everything. They even sanitized my drivers license as they handed it back to me. They offer a 7 day return policy and if anything fails within 3 months they cover it under warranty. How awesome is that?! I would buy my next car here but I love the one I just bought.

Had an appointment to see a car yesterday evening. Despite the fact that I was the only person waiting in a very empty showroom, the guy at the podium was very flippant and casual about acknowledging me. Finally after standing there while he finished his conversation with his coworkers sitting around, we got around to the fact that I had an appointment, the only person with an appointment at 6pm, with my name in lights behind his head. Then I was told that I would have to wait 45 minutes. Huh? I made an appointment, the showroom is almost empty, its a Thursday night, and Im supposed to wait for 45 minutes? Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, you know how to take the appointment, you just dont know how to HOLD the appointment--anybody can just take the appointment! Anyway, I told the guy that I made an appointment and couldnt just wait around so wed have to find another time. Truly, Carmax is the Walmart of car-dealer customer service.
