Im never stepping foot into Chain Gang Bike Shop again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.I called them over a month ago to try to get my bike in for a tune up and was told they were a few weeks out and that they might be able to get me in around June 15. I asked if I just bring it in that day, or if theyd call me, they didnt make it very clear, but it sounded like theyd call me and I could call them to follow up if I didnt hear from them.June 15 came and went, Ive had a lot going on with family, and I was out of town all of last week. I hadnt heard from them, but I figured they mustve had my name down and Id be at the top of their queue or something. I tried calling them today, had some issue with my phone where they apparently couldnt hear me and just hung up quickly without trying to say hello a 2nd time or anything. Further attempts to call from another phone resulted in no answer.So I decided Id just cruise by with my bike today and see whats up. Maybe they cant fit me in today, but I called them over a month ago, surely they can fit me in within the next 2 weeks. Ive been planning a trip out of town with some buddies next weekend and this bike has been having some issues and needs some professional help.I went in and asked about my appointment. They didnt have me down. Dude said I was probably supposed to just come in on the 15th. I told him that I asked and that it wasnt made clear to me. I tried to clarify on the phone and wasnt given much of an answer. They would not make any attempt to try to fit me in within the next 2 weeks. Just didnt care, didnt try, didnt show much empathy for my situation. I didnt want to sit there and turn it into an argument, at this point, if I have to try to convince them to take my money, I dont want to give them my money.I called Sports LTD, they said I could bring it in today and theyd have it back to me in 4-5 days. Dude was super nice and helpful and said hed get me all taken care of. Thats customer service.I really wanted to support Chain Gang, being a downtown bike shop, I really wanted to make my next big bike purchase from there. But I will not be back. And I guess that means I will not be buying a Giant bike as well. But itd be hard to convince me to go back there and give them my money, even if they are close to my house than the competition.Anyways, just wanted to share my story. If nothing else so the shop can hear my complaint and get their operation together so other people dont lose out on a month of biking due to their poor communication.

Excellent bike shop. Very professional and friendly staff. I am a truck driver, and carry my bike with me on my truck. When I have a mechanical problem, I am not able to drop my bike off and come back a day or two later to retrieve it, as I will most likely be several hundred miles away tomorrow. This morning I realized I knocked my rear wheel off balance on yesterday’s ride and needed a repair before I could do any serious riding. I called another bike shop in Redding and was told they couldn’t true my wheel until sometime next week. Thankfully, when I called the Chain Gang, Eric told me to bring my bike on over and he’d get me fixed up. And he did! I was in and out in about twenty minutes, for which I am very grateful. The price was also extremely reasonable.They had several guys working hard on other bikes, and they were still very friendly and welcoming. I am always happy to spend my money at great businesses like this. Whenever I am in the Redding area, this will now be my go to bike shop. Thanks, Chain Gang!

Came in from out of town and needed a set of mountain bike tires for my off road wheelchair. Great selection and prices on tires. Excellent staff

Needed a basic mechanical disc brake. They had just what I needed and the price was very reasonable. Shop staff were very friendly and efficient. In and out in 5 minutes.

Employers do a really good job

My daughters chain broke on her bike and after emailing shops in town, the folks at chain gang were on it! They replied within a timely manner and let me know I can bring it by. When I got there they did let me know they were a little ways out on their repairs but informed me they would get to it as soon as possible. They called the next day to let me know it was ready to go. Everyone there was very professional, informative, and most importantly very nice.

Ive only dealt with them a couple times but theyve always been great . They are my neighborhood bike shop just around the corner which is very convenient

They found a suitable solution from their scrap parts, installed the new seat on it, and installed it on the bike at the $0 price point a child can afford.

These were so great I showed up about 15 minutes before closing time on Friday and they hustled me right in a really great bike seat actually was on sale as well as installed it for me great customer service

Always a great shop to go too. We have had several bikes be destroyed from our 6 kids and they never stop making them run like new again. Shop rates are very reasonable and turn around on most is while you wait!

We were visiting from out of state and dropped in to check on some service availability. While they didn’t have an opening for well over a week, after realizing we were only in town for another day they squeezed us in. It only took a few minutes to help us out but they surely didn’t need to. It was greatly appreciated and the bike is running better than when he bought it. The staff was extremely nice and knowledgeable. They also were very kid friendly as my kids, 6 and 4, tried out a few balance bikes while we waited.

The Chain Gang folks are awesome. The guys are knowledgeable and have always been willing to help me in any way. They are very experienced in bike maintenance and repair, and are very accommodating. I like the fact that I can ask them technical questions about bike maintenance and they have always been willing to share their knowledge. Being a gear head myself, I find this refreshing that they will take the time to explain the tech side of things. They have also gone to bat for me in getting warranty upgrades on my bike from the manufacturer.

Jeff and his crew were the very first people I met when I moved to the area. Ive been going to Chain Gang since they were in a little shop behind the Churn Creek post office and Kevin was Garys main mechanic. Gary literally wrote the NORBA rules and held one of the first big MTB races called the Whiskeytown Downhill (shout out to my man Michael Jordan [no not the basketball player you casuals]).This is the oldest and best shop in town. Period. I do have to say though that in glad Urch is gone and Young Eric has been killing it.

Great Help. I brought my mountain bike in for hydraulic brake adjustments and to fix a rear derailleur and they fixed everything. The bike was ready to be picked up within a few hours for a low fee. Ill definitely visit them in the future and recommend them.

My bike was my main mode of transportation while I lived in Redding. So, I could wait around all week with no way to get around. The other shops in town said they could have my bike fixed 3 days later. But the Chain Gang had my bike ready after just a few hours.The Chain Gang has great services prices as well, and their customer service is exceptional.

Fast and courteous service at decent prices.

My BMX has a wobble in my rear wheel that I needed fixed. While the other bike shops told me Id have to leave my bike there for a week and a half, these guys were able to get it in same day and had my wheel trued and ready to pick up in under an hour. Stoked!

I was on vacation and just passing thru town. My chain broke when on one of the local trails. Asked someone for a local bike shop and they directed my here. The manager was very knowledgable and courteous. He fixed my bike for a very reasonable amount, and I was on my way. Best bike shop I have ever used.

Good bike shop.

Took my old bike with old school disc breaks so they could service them. They told me that something was wrong with the break system and could not service them. I took it to Village Cycle on Bechelli lane and in a few hours had the bike ready to go. Theese guys at chain gang have no clue what they are doing.
