I took my laptop to PC-Max and was a bit worried because I needed it for online coursework. Alex was extremely helpful and friendly. He not only took great care of my PC, but he also put me at ease while I was there. He shared some useful information and helpful hints, but not in a way that I felt being talked down to. The guys that work here are awesome! Recently took a broken laptop when I couldnt figure out the issue myself. They kept me updated on the issues the whole time and even helped me get the ssd out of the laptop when we decided it wasnt worth fixing. Cannot thank Alex and Walker enough for the help today. I had to switch the cooler on my PC, and no longer had the brackets to mount the new cooler. They were able to pull some brackets off an old motherboard and save me 2 weeks of downtime. They then helped me install said cooler and a new SD. Incredible guys, and quite knowledgeable in their craft. Best place to go for Computer help.

I custom built a PC for my brother-in-law but couldnt get it to start. They found the motherboard was incompatible and replaced it. All in all it was a quick turn around 2-3 days max and the cost plus labor was extremely reasonable. Theyre really reasonable and down to earth. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for good work at a honest price.

This place is awesome, quick and has the best repair prices. My Lenovo laptop was recently dropped and the screen blacked out by a child. They fixed the screen and get the laptop back up and running in 3 business days and the total cost was $26 dollars. What a deal! I highly recommend this company.

Walker is the absolute man - after buying a PC from Best Buy that was DOA, I went to PC MAX to see if they could give me a similar quote and it was honestly one of the greatest retail experiences Ive ever had. Walker was able to get me a better specd machine for less money. Couldnt ask for more.

Just left PC-Max after struggling to figure out why my hard drives wouldnt be picked up. Problem found immediately. The guys were great to talk to and super knowledgeable. Couldnt recommend them enough!

Called this store (12/18/2020 at 2:30pm) to see if they had a DVI-D to VGA adapter and sounded like I was on speaker or something. When I asked if they had one someone laughed at me. I ask the person on the phone if someone laughed at me and he said “yeah it was my coworker”. Will never call, contact, shop, or even go on their website ever again! I will do what ever it takes to get people to go somewhere else! Laugh at me again!

Went in for a purchase, left with some really good advice.Seems like a super guy that I met on my voyage here. Very friendly, easy to understand and work with.Unfortunately, i was unable to make a purchase due to the parts i wanted being very old. The dude running the shop was quick to give me friendly advice, and information on how i could go about getting what i needed, quickly, and inexpensively.This kind of service is paramount, and super appreciated. If i end up needing work done to my computer, i will definitely be bringing it to these guys.

These guys are honest and very helpful. I went in to get a quote to repair a laptop that had water damage. They ran diagnostics and quoted me for free. I decided not to do the repair and bought a new laptop from somewhere else. When I went in to pick up the old laptop, they volunteered to swap the hard drive out of the old laptop into the new one so I didnt lose any data or time, also for free. I also bought another used computer from them a few years ago, and it still runs great.

PC-MAX did a great job solving a (strange) issue with my Dell laptop. Their initial diagnosis didnt solve the problem, but they didnt charge me for the part or time. In the end they had to replaced the motherboard and the total cost was very reasonable. Also their communication was outstanding throughout. The combination of their knowledge and professionalism makes them quite unique in comparison to another company I initially tried.

Called and asked about a part being in stock, confirmed he had it in the store. I told him I was coming to get it. When I got there the store was closed for the day due to mental health break. Cant trust a business that wastes customers time. Not coming back

What an awesome place for computer repair or buying used computers. I took an older laptop in for repair for my mom and in less than 24 hours I got my computer back in excellent working condition. They are very honest and knowledgeable of computers and the cost is reasonable. I would recommend anyone to go here before they go to Geek Squad or any other computer repair place. A catastrophic Windows 10 update turned my very nice Lenovo laptop PC into a paper weight. I used my phone to search for a good place to go and came up with PC - MAX. On Wednesday afternoon of February, 2020 I took my computer in and Walker, who is a great guy, must have started working on it almost immediately! Friday he called with a diagnosis after checking out all the hardware and saving all my data. He recommended a new OS install. I gave him permission and had my computer and data back on Saturday afternoon after paying a more than reasonable charge! I stopped by on Monday to get him to tweak some things, called him several times to get his advice, and now my laptop is PERFECT - better than it was before!You cant go wrong if you go to PC - MAX and let Walker fix your computer!Ken

Great experience. Had an issue with my MacBook Air not powering on; I had taken my laptop to an Apple store and not only did they quote me a higher price than PC Max, but they couldn’t back up my drive and turnaround time was ~2 weeks. PC Max was able to do the same repair job AND backed up my hard drive (Apple does not), at a much quicker time span, all for cheaper than Apple. Great staff that keeps you up to date on the repair process. 5 stars!

I had a computer that no longer worked and I know nothing about fixing computers so I took it in hoping I may be able to sell it for parts. I met a wonderful guy name Walker, He suggested one possible fix and he was on the money. Within 5 min. my computer was up and running. He was so kind, professional and very patient with someone like myself who knew nothing about computers. I also noticed he was the only one there at the time and was busy but took all the time with me. Even answering the phone he would tell other customers he was busy and would return their call. My wife and I have had issues for a long time with our computer, and we really couldnt find anyone/any business in the Raleigh area that we could trust to fix our issues. That is until we were introduced to PC-MAX. Not only were their rates extremely competitive, but they fixed all of our issues within 2 days AND took time to explain to us and show us what they did and how certain systems work. We now are in the process of taking our laptop to them to work on! Id recommend PC-MAX to anyone within Wake County that has a computer. Even if your computer is working fine, it doesnt hurt to have them check it out and make sure your anti-virus and security measures are up to speed (which ours were not).

These guys were awesome. I took my laptop in because it was flat out not working. With free diagnostics, they pin pointed the problem and called me before anything was done. Unfortunately, the cost to repair outweighed the value of the laptop so i didn’t end up going through with it. Based on the their knowledge, I have no doubt it would have been running like new had I had them do the repair. They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and all around great people. Nick was the person that helped me directly, and couldn’t have been nicer. I would highly recommend coming here for any repairs.

I truly feel like both the employees at PC-Max went above and beyond helping with FREE diagnostics on a custom build I didnt even buy from them. Nick spent plenty of time answering my questions, and even helped me with a used wireless card and SSD to save some cash when I wanted a few spare parts. He could have reasonably just charged me for the diagnostic instead of helping me out like that when the computer came back issue free. These are the kind of priceless advantages you get when finding a good local business, and Im happy there is one right up the street from me. Thanks guys.

Ive gone to this shop twice now for them to help with my computers, and I have been very happy with the experience. They have great/efficient customer service, find out whats wrong with your tech and give advice. What I liked about them the most is that I feel I can trust them. It was apparent that these guys arent just out to get your money. They dont even charge a diagnostic fee, which is great cuz I know some who would charge you $100 just to look.

PC-MAX is an excellent company, and I will recommend them to anybody who has computer needs. I have a HP w/ a bad motherboard and they did a memory back-up for me. The external hard drive I gave them was not working properly. They promptly notified me of the issue and suggested a flash drive that I agreed to pay for. The next day I followed up w/ them and they had discovered a virus on my external hard drive. They cleaned the virus and did my back-up on my external hard drive and saved me 50% of what I had already agreed to pay. Customer service like that is much appreciated and I celebrate PC-MAX as a 1st class operation. Wonderful business integrity.

In August 2018 my husband and I were in the market for a used laptop. We had seen this place before so gave it a go. We could not be happier with our purchase 4 months later! We bought a used Lenovo 2 in 1 laptop for a great price (I think we paid around $280 for it used, and new it was still selling for around $650-700). There was absolutely nothing wrong with it and weve been using it almost daily for work since then. It was a great experience overall. The sales rep we met with was nice and knowledgeable. I feel like we were nervous taking a gamble on a used laptop with no extended warranty (Im a huge warranty person so not having an extended one freaks me out), but ultimately it worked out! Weve had zero problems with the laptop. Next time were in the market for a used laptop well definitely be returning here.

Nick gave me what I call old fashioned service! When I arrived I had a serious $$$, replace-the-motherboard situation. He spent a little time on it, and it turned out to be no problem at all. Im not very computer-savvy and he could have really taken me for a ride. He did no such thing and didnt even charge me for the time. Nick won a brand new, long-term customer that day.Five months later: this time I did have a failing hard drive. I recently went to PC-Max to explore the possibility of having a computer built for my specific needs. I use a DAW for music composition as well as use the same computer for our family needs. I had priced computers with these specs at several other businesses online as well as in the community. I also took my present computer with me because another tech in my community said my hard drive was going to crash. I wanted another opinion before I actually sunk the money into a new computer.Walker checked out my computer and said it was in good shape and only needed a new power supply fan. I was won over by his honesty.I presented my specific needs anyway as my old computer was 9 years old and very slow. He gave me a price that was more than half of the best price I found online with a reputable business. Walker explained that the mother board was used but the hard drive was new. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. I paid him and he gave me a time line for the finished computer plus a used monitor to be picked up. He honored that commitment.Walker had transferred all of my files to the new computer, he set up my email, transferred my Cubase music files, everything! I had no clue how to do those things. When I got home I had some problems with getting my email hooked up with my server. He stayed on the phone with me for a couple of hours until I was satisfied. I had a couple of other questions about using Groove and setting up my email server on Windows 10 and he answered those by controlling my computer remotely until he solved the problems.I even emailed Walker at home over the weekend because I couldnt figure something out. It was not his problem but he responded, as always.I had a very positive experience with Walker. I feel confident in his work. My computer is warranted for a full year so I think everything is great. This computer is so much faster than my old Lenovo.Thats why I gave PC Max 5 stars.DE

What a great find this computer shop is. Its a shop with very knowledgeable and experienced workers. They set up my Nieces new laptop ext. exactly as needed to get her from fifth grade to the end of tenth grade. They also recommended alternative segestions that saved me money, that actually made the system better. Something I could not find in any of the big commercial chains. Dont take my word for it, go check this place out for yourselves.

PC-MAX will be my new go-to spot for computer problems. I spilled a cup of coffee on my laptop and they did a free diagnostic to figure out the problem and fixed it for way less than I expected. I also bought a used laptop from them and their prices were amazing... youd be hard-pressed to get a better deal from a private seller on craigslist, and PC-MAX offers a warranty on computers you buy from them. The staff was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

Nick was a pleasure to work with. I brought in two computers that I never used. I am a Mac user, but I needed a PC laptop to learn Access to teach a class. I picked out a used i5 laptop that was pre setup with Windows 10 and virus protection. I walked out with cash in my pocket. I could have maybe made a better deal on eBay. But then again, I might have had a horrible buyer. And I did not have to buy or set up a new PC. Plus, Nick is covering the laptop under a warranty. Great experience!

Must be my Lucky day... I had no ideal were to take my PC to get it worked on. I just know it was not going to be Best Buy. Had a Dell Inspiron 15 that I was selling so I factory reset it. It went through a continuous rebooting cycle and I could never get the home screen to come back up. Took it to a competitor and was told that my hard drive was bad (which I knew couldn’t be right because I did a diagnostic myself and received no error codes) and it would be $250 to fix. Wanted a second opinion so I brought it to PC Max and turns out all it needed was a fresh install of windows. Thanks to Walker and the gang for all of their help and the extra money in my pocket!

My computer was old and outdated (2007) and completely crashed one day. I took it to PC-MAX to get fixed, but it was beyond repair. They gave me a credit for it and sold me a new laptop that came complete with Windows for a very reasonable price. The guy backed everything up from my old computer and put it on my new one. The whole process took an hour or two. The computer I bought from them has been marvelous.

I get there about 10 mins after they close, guy lets me in, pops my CPU open, plugs the cord I didnt plug in since Im a noob and doesnt charge! I still have him $10 for the excellent experience. Only place Im going for PC problems!

These guys are AWESOME! Fast service on several of my PCs for my office, I also purchased a MacBook two years ago for my wife and it worked wonderful. Then the other day I used it to go online and she had some kind of malware on it. I took it in and they fixed it while I waited! Now thats service! You cant go wrong with them. The other place I use to take my computers would take two days for diagnose. I will never go back to the other place. Go to PC-Max

When my hard drive failed on my laptop, they had it fixed up in no time at all, at a very reasonable rate. Some places wont even look at your machine for over a week. PC-Max diagnosed my laptop for free (maybe two hours after I brought it in, if that), gave me a loaner to use (also free), and had my machine up and running the next day! I would have been fine with the 2 days they estimated it would take. Id give them a 10 star review if I could. A+ on the customer service too... by the time I walked out of there, I felt like I had just picked up my computer from a friend who works on them.

I had a bad experience with another local computer repair shop and felt they were trying to get more money out of me before fixing the problem. I took my Accer all in one to these guys a few weeks ago due to blue screen and a few other problems. They called me within 24 hrs to tell me the diagnosis and what it would take to repair and cost. I picked it up the next day and they went over things with me.It runs better now than the day I purchased it and brought it home.I highly recommend anyone with PC problems to take it to PC-max.
