I fortunately stumbled on this place while I was up in North Raleigh looking at something completely unrelated and stopped in just to grab a cup of coffee. Now I go out of my way to buy their coffee it is so wonderful. And how great to also be located in the same building as a bike and running shop. Its like somebody read my mind.

Loved this place! So much more than just a coffee shop. They fix bikes and have cool apparel. Also, tonight they had great live speakers from the Raleigh Convergence Magazine.

Awesome coffee place. I will agree it is slightly confusing seeing the store when walking in. The coffee was good and service was VERY good. Nice seating area outside and staff was very friendly. I would definitely be back.

The atmosphere and staff (and other customers, too) there give positive vibes. It is always a pleasure to stop by for my Mocha fix. Pine State is a small, local businness gem with a community supporting focus and excellent coffee. My favorite coffee in the Raleigh area! Check them out!

I’m hesitant to even share this review because I feel like Pine St is a hidden gem, but it’s by far the best coffee in Raleigh - not to mention a ridiculously nice staff! Plus tons of gluten-free baked goods!

As I walked up from getting my car worked on, I saw the sign that says Worlds best cup of coffee and I kind of rolled my eyes saying yea yea ok. However, once I tried my sip of cold brew, I see the argument. Do I think its the best? No, however it is a great cup and one of the best in Raleigh hands down. The strength is out of this world while being smooth and not bitter. If you are thinking about it, definitely give it a try. I even tried a gluten free passionfruit bar which was almost like a morning cheesecake which was very tasty without being too sweet.The store is half coffee shop, half runologie which gives an awesome vibe. The outdoor seating is plentiful as well. I will definitely be back.

An excellent addition to our neighborhood. A place where you can get coffee in the morning and local beer in the evening, or vice versa if thats youre thing. They have big plans for this place in the coming months, including live music, local farmers market stands and more. Looking forward to watching Pine State Coffee grow!

I absolutely love this coffee shop. It has a very fun atmosphere and amazing coffee! I think some of the best espresso in the Raleigh area. However, I wish it was open longer. The shop’s current operating hours make getting coffee here very restrictive.

Plenty of tables + a great bar space so you can grab a hot cup, chill or knock out some work. Its great to see more growth in the area its in!

Staff was chill and happily talked about indepth coffee knowledged roasting, brewing machines etc, music selection was perfect and the coffee was damn tasty.Also pastries from Strongarm were seriously delicious. Definitely going back soon

Just stopped in for a coffee. The bike shop has had taken over more of the internal footprint so sat outside for a bit. A nice break and a good cup of coffee.

Great Covid compliance. Oh, and extra good coffee and pastries. A serendipitous find. Worth all the odd turns to get there. Get your bike fixed and buy some new shoes while youre relaxing. Enjoy !

Wonderful location. Atmosphere was different from anything I’ve seen and I really enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and made my latte very enjoyable. The espresso was one of the best I’ve had. The owner is very kind as well. I look forward to coming back very soon. This may just be my new coffee shop.

This was a nice coffee shop but is more of a running store now. Maybe once the weather warms up, they’ll have the bar open again.

Our favorite local coffee shop! The staff are friendly and always up for a good conversation. They have multiple non-dairy options for beverages and lots of awesome JP’s Bakery goods for the vegan / gluten free peeps! We love to chill on the covered patio and read a book while sipping a latte. They’ve done a great job with their to-go service and maintaining all guidelines. Keep it up & we can’t wait to come hang soon!

This place is GREAT! Locally roasted coffee, cool staff, great music and great food. Had a bacon bun this morning! Bacon and cheese in flaky layers. We will keep coming back. Skip Starbucks and support local.

I see several reviews mentioning beer(?). It’s my understanding this is a coffee shop. A working phone to ask these questions or clear up misinterpretation of intent certainly would have been helpful. Alas, they have none. I love coffee and would dearly love a suitable source near me. I am afraid this is not that place.It is fine i guess, if you don’t like coffee or choices. Poor representation of actual coffee as the main product. One size fits(?)all and I hope you like sugar b/c that’s the only sweetener option. Shot pours could not be watched to verify, but tasted short/weak. No options offered aside from whole milk for espresso drinks. Tasted like there may also be burnt milk backed up in their steaming wand. Very limited menu and baristas/employees with absolutely no knowledge of the bulk product (beans). In a market saturated with excellent coffee options, this need not be one.. Supposedly have the best Wi-Fi this side of town. I suppose with fewer public facilities open this is a plus. Lots of merchandise and clothes toting the name of the business. Hats, shirts, shoes, totes, etc. Perhaps they should be pine state clothing? If you need a decent trucker hat, this is your spot. If you need coffee go somewhere else.

Perfect place for a meeting and a cup of coffee! My vanilla latte was delicious and not overly sweet and the ambience was quiet but welcoming. Diverse and inclusive. Lots of outlets and workspace.

My boyfriend and I love this place! The staff is attentive and very friendly. It’s clean and attractive and there is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. The coffee is amazing and very reasonably priced, and they have a good selection of snacks including vegan and gluten free sweets! They even have parties on weekends with a band and cookout. Will be frequenting this establishment.

Digging the new coffee shop. Has a very homey feel. Perfect for an early or midday coffee or local beer while reading a book or socializing with friends. They also roast their own beans and have several options for quick bites. Adding this spot to the regular rotation of area coffee shops.

This is the best coffee shop around! They have a lot of locally sourced products (Mocha latte with Escazu chocolate!), and the staff and owner are very friendly and get to know you. They have multiple options for milk and dont charge for an upgrade to almond milk. The best part for me is that they have so many spots to plug in your device! This can be so hard to come by if you go to a coffee shop during peak times.

Unpretentious place to grab delicious coffee drinks that is a welcome addition to this side of downtown Raleigh. The barista was very friendly, I just ordered a cold brew and enjoyed the air conditioning while drinking it. I look forward to enjoying the patio when the weather isn’t so hot.

Hidden local gem. Relaxing location to grab an espresso and do some work. Have their own beans for sale. Have some bike tools if youre a cyclist but couldnt tell you what they were for not being a cyclist myself.

Pine State Coffee is an amazing place. Folks behind and in front of the bar are very kind and positive people to start your day with.Coffee roasted there is on point, and barista owners know how to serve it up (check this latte photo.)They usually have 2-4 local beers on tap, and have been gathering folks for Saturday afternoon events in their covered patio.

Interesting concept, half retail space-loved the running shoe assortment, half coffee shop. Check out the high top table that divides the space-very nice. Chai was made from scratch, only tasted watered down as an iced chai latte

Hands-down favorite coffee shop! The atmosphere is perfect and their care for the quality of what they serve is evident. Kind and friendly staff, the barista even put a little ghost in the foam of my cappuccino last time i ordered one!☺ I also like to purchase beans here for my home brew. I usually go for sumatra, and last time they pointed me to a very similar new roast i hadnt ever tried! Highly recommend!😁

Our experience was just okay; Id say more on the 3.5 star side of things. Im all-for supporting local businesses, and we thought this coffee shop looked funky and interesting in an odd location, thus making it a cool-looking spot to pop in and try. Perhaps we need to go again or a few more times, but we sadly didnt enjoy our coffee/ experience. My husband and I purchased medium vanilla lattes, both of which were actually really tiny, with the actual drink only being filled up barely 2/4 of the way if that. I understand lattes include their fair amount of foam on top, but it seemed like we both received barely one espresso shot with an astounding amount of foam; not a typical medium-sized drink. For this reason, we were also surprised by the price and thought it was way too much. Perhaps they messed our orders up by mistake or were having a bad day, as the person who made the drinks didnt seem too lively and in a bad mood; but overall, we were disappointed. I will say though, they did what looked like an outdoor, holiday market and some kind of other local gathering when we drove by a couple other times, and they looked like a lot of fun. Id be interested in attending those and could probably recommend them (as I do enjoy similar local events), but at this time I cant recommend the actual coffee.

Ive been to plenty of shops, but the effervescent welcome we got from the owners and staff here was something new. Layered atop great coffee and fabulous tea, this pervasive sunny sheen makes Pine State stand out as a necessary stop for coffee fans.

New coffee place off of Capital Blvd near Mordecai. Passionate roasters with great coffee and yummy pastries. A must try.

It should not be surprising how delicious Pine State coffee tastes, the owner/roaster has consistently won best barista awards in the Triangle for years and takes his coffee seriously. Lucky for Raleigh, Larz has done all the hard work and now all you have to do is swing by for a cup....and a lb. for home. You will not be disappointed!

Great staff and good coffee to start the day. The environment here is so friendly it has made us regulars.

If youre not patronizing PSC, youre missing out. Seriously, these are the best beans within a days mule ride. The gents behind the counter arent much to look at but the service is outstanding and their knowledge of all things caffeinated cant be beat. Tried to rate them 6 stars but my phone told me to get bent so I settled for a 5 star rating.
