Wonderful restaurant in Portsmouth. Fun and funky vibe. Cool staff. Loved my sandwich and snack. Stopped by later in the day just to grab a drink. Black-owned and worth a visit, for sure.

A very popular coffee shop / cocktail bar in Portsmith. It was the perfect cozy haven on a rainy Sunday. I’m intrigued by the Mug Club. Great drink menu but would pass on the food (the whole menu wasn’t available either).

Awesome little coffee shop and bar where you can get an espresso or something stronger. They also cook lunch behind the bar and is really tasty place to grab a quick bite. The bartender was making fresh squeezed lemonade behind the bar when I was there. It’s on my favorite list now.Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Passing through from out of town our only experience at this coffee shop was not good. My husband and I went in around 9:30 on Sunday morning and ordered a large coffee, a large hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin to go. My husband was handed a cup to take to the self-serve coffee counter where there were three carafes of coffee. The coffee he wanted was empty and he told a barista. After waiting several minutes he went back to the counter to find out when more coffee would be ready. The same barista set a carafe on the counter and proceeded to pour a cup. My husband showed her he already had a cup but she continued to pour using a new cup. As she handed it to him it was a small cup when he’d paid for a large. He could have said something but just decided to take the smaller cup because we were in a hurry to get on the road. I picked up my hot chocolate and we left. After getting in the car I took a sip of it. It was lukewarm and had no chocolate flavor at all. I took the lid off and it was clear there was very little chocolate in it. It was completely undrinkable and I poured it out.

Stopped with my daughter to have a salad here - advertised as a special on their board. However when we got it it was missing one of the main ingredients (apple, lettuce, feta and walnut salad) which was the apple. Also there was barely any feta on it. When I went to question that the salad had no apples I got a response that they ran out however it had apple vinaigrette dressing on it....really? no apology, no hey can I get you something else...honestly staff really could of cared less. Beside the fact we could sit outside and it was a beautiful day- Not impressed and wouldnt go here again.

Cute decor. Convenient location in the middle of town. However, it’s more of a bar than coffee shop. Don’t expect expertly prepared coffee drinks. My latte was below average. My husband got iced latte and he wasn’t happy. They have a bathroom and lots of tables.

Stopped by just for coffee, but the owner pulled me in by offering mimosas, who am I to say no? Well we also then ordered breakfast sandwiches, coffee, latte and a mocha. Wow. All amazing. Would definitely come back. Super cute spot. Love the local art for sale and it is a black owned business. What more could you need?

Exactly what I like in a comfy, independent espresso joint. This will be morning caffeine stop whenever I visit Portsmouth.

Its a really nice coffee shop! The inside is cool and features lots of neat decor and comfortable wall seating with pillows. Water pitchers and glasses are set at each table. Space is plentiful for a coffee shop and there are two clean restrooms for patrons. A tea shop occupies the space in the rear of the shop. Overall a pleasant experience. The coffee was great, I will return.

I like this place for their coffee but had a terrible experience last weekend. They advertised $5 mimosas, $8 bloody marrys. Four employees were working and none knew how to make a bloody marry. They still tried and it had shaved ice which melted in about 2 minutes, a sad stick of celery, no olives, and no straw. My friends got mimosas and their glasses looked like they had a couple of coffee grounds in them. They also didnt have OJ. If I go back and have a better experienced Ill certainly change my rating.

Such an awesome little coffee shop with wonderful girls. The coffee was just what we needed for our drive to Bar-Harbor and we got some great suggestions for a second half of the journey in Portland as an added bonus. These are the places that energize our little gems of towns spread across the U.S. We stopped off for a quick bite and some coffee for the road trip, but we might be inspired to return on the way back to Boston with our Cups ready to visit with Joe and the girls again!

They use the fancy small ice in their iced drinks... love that. The food here is very good. Fresh and nice presentation too. I’m not giving five-stars because the food takes a while to come out. Good people watching.

Delicious latte, fantastic environment to sit down and get some work done or meet up with friends. Quiet enough to concentrate and just noisy enough to be connected to reality. The wifi was perfect and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. Friendly staff, friendly vibe. If I lived in Portsmouth, I would practically live at Cup of Joes.

Staff was really out of it, like they didnt want to be there which made the place feel weird to be in. The coffee was good, didnt get the banana muffin I asked for.

I got a cappuccino, I didnt like the taste at all. The tea was good though.

My favorite place to go to sit down and read, do homework, meet someone/meet up with friends and have a conversation. I have only been twice but still definitely my favorite place to go for a chai latte or coffee. I have never tried their food but I wouldnt be surprised if it was good.

Within covid restrictions, my friends and I had a wonderful experience here. The Brew-La-la, a whipped cream topped coffee liquor, was most popular among us. Be warned though, the chai was a bit too citrus-y for us Ohioans! Bar tender was super friendly and offered local advice for us out-of-towners.

She has created a wonderful space for gathering, enjoying a coffee or tea with a friend, listening to music, or paying it forward. This is the kind of place that makes Portsmouth a strong community. Oh and the drinks are yummy!! With vegan milk options. And a commitment to sustainability.

Cup of Joe is amazing. Incredible atmosphere chill relaxed and welcome feel with a rustic look and brings that friendly coffee shop feel. If you have allergies then your at the right place. Large list of (dairy free) milk/creamers. (Gluten free) bread as well. I have both these allergies and never break on after eating from here. (Just let them know about allergies before) Fresh vegetables and incredible sandwiches. Very kind and courteous staff friendly with a smile. Always clean and very fair pricing!

I had a great first experience at Cup of Joe. The staff was very friendly and informative. My breakfast sandwich was out-of-this-world delicious. And my cappuccino was perfect. The atmosphere and decor are welcoming, and it was clear that you can sit and work comfortably, if desired. A great spot to check out in Portsmouth!

Weve been here before when coming to the area. Coffee is always good. Today the woman behind the counter was snappy and rude. It was full of people and noise so hard to hear. Hopefully just a bad day for this one person. Tossed in a buck first tip anyhow.

The people working were rude and just expected us to know how everything worked. Bad experience coming in from out of town!! Do not recommend with a Starbucks across the street

Conveniently located in the center of the Portsmouth, theres a nice mix of draft beers, coffee drinks, and lunch & breakfast sandwiches. The interior retains brick and wood from days gone by. And the reasonable prices are complimented by friendly service.

Great place for coffee or a drink. I have been coming to this place since it opened, I love the aesthetic (casual, with nice local historical touches) and I always get good service whether I am sitting at the bar or getting something to go. Worth checking out if youre a local or visiting the area!

Good coffee and decent pastries. They actually have a full menu but I didnt see it.I worked here for a few hours without issue. Only complaint is the kitchen is very open. When they were prepping some bacon the whole place smelled like bacon, but I also smelled like bacon when I left.

It,s a coffee shop with a lot of variety. When we came in it was crowded, but amazingly our wait was very short. Live entertainment from two professionals provided the perfect atmosphere. The group called Silver Wings played a variety of songs making it hard for us to leave.

Bartender chatted to coworker, sharing Instagram photos or something, and made me wait for my drink after making it. Service is fairly unfriendly on the whole. Coffee not great. Better to go to Elephantine or the German coffee shop for decent service and drinks.

Expected a nice new year’s coffee. cashier called me by my deadname (on card) in front of several friends i wasn’t out to yet, and then rolled her eyes at me when i said i was a transgender man. absolutely mortifying for me, friends, and my boyfriend. two drinks and a small whoopie pie were almost $11, not to mention my coffee 3/4 ice. the order itself took almost 15 minutes, and even with two baristas, both of which were chatting and on their phones, the people in front of us also had a very long wait time for a single coffee. needless to say, after being a returning customer, i definitely won’t be coming back.fellow queer folk, beware.

Staff is nice. But if you ask for a cappuccino, youll get a latte. If you ask for a cortado, you get a cappaccino. They use A&E coffee which is locally roasted in NH, but that is about the only positive aspect of A&E beans.

Great coffee shop. Great owner. Great staff. One of the best almond milk cappuccinos I have had outside of Brooklyn New York. Seattle has nothing on east coast coffee! 😂Their desserts are also deliscious and some of the best coffee Tshirts anywhere. Enjoy!
