Visited for the first time today to check out their meats. I was looking for availability of high fat grass fed ground beef and other meats. All their meets are of high quality and very reasonably priced. They made me 20-25% fat ground meet from a brisket cut, I picked up grass fed lamb neck and three beautiful ribeye pieces. Staff there are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, and I will definitely visit again for my future food projects from 25 miles away.
Love this little market! The meat department is of the highest quality, and the few shelves are sparingly but perfectly stocked with just exactly the brands I purchase. Feels like I am shopping in my own pantry. It’s super efficient and cute and the staff is awesome! Friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. This little market makes grocery shopping fun.
Great little market with a well thought out selection and great meat counter. A lot of my favorites from Whole Foods and New Seasons without having to deal with the larger stores (especially nice during the pandemic), and walking distance from my home. Prices are on par too. Great friendly staff. Love it, keep up the great work!
Nice local market. Friendly and helpful staff. Check out their cooking classes and free recipes on their website.
The only real food they have is in the produce department and meat dept. The rest of the store is processes, sugar in packages.
A really nice and compact local market! It reminds of markets in NYC- a good curated selection of products, produce and a meat counter. Good prices!
Basics has really been an asset to the neighborhood since it opened. They have been evolving to add some items that are useful (small selection of detergents, medication, etc) while keeping their meat and produce at consistently high quality. It’s very convenient to run in and pick up all the ingredients to make a meal. The staff is very friendly as well!
This is a really good small-scale supermarket. Excellent meat counter and good produce selections with a lot of local stuff. Basically they have everything you need and nothing you don’t, prices are competitive with Whole Foods and New Seasons and the overall vibe is much more chill (especially during this pandemic). I hope they open up more of these stores, because for me it really beats any of the competition in the small format premium grocery space. Important to know is that they don’t have a fish counter.
This is a great little market. They have a very good selection of items given the size of the store. Also, the prices are quite reasonable compared to other small markets. I am especially impressed with their meat counter. They have an excellent selection of beef, pork, and lamb as well as chicken and seafood. Sausages in casing or bulk, kebabs, and Im probably forgetting something. Local, organic dairy and eggs too. Im sold.
Great service and best meat in the city. GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!
I simply love this market. It reminds me of specialty shops in European cities. The meats are the best quality. Nothing wrapped in plastic foam. Produce is also top quality. Its a locally owned market. Most products are locally sourced. If you have Amazon Prime, you can still shop at Basics Market.
Nice! Lots of organic options, fair prices.
Decent selection for a small grocery. I especially appreciate their well priced sustainable meat counter. During COVID, appreciate how safe and quiet it feels in there.
Not always the best selection in the world, but I’ve never gone without. Only grocery store I shop at since COVID hit. Never crowded.
Basics, contrary to what the name suggests, is a high-end grocery store featuring primo and artisnal brands of everything from pasta to potato chips. Its a good store if youve got money burning a hole in your pocket. Theres also a kitchen attached where they used to have cooking classes and demonstrations, but those are on hold due to COVID-19.
Love this grocery store! Fantastic prices but the star of the show for me is the butcher shop. Duck, turkey, chicken, lamb, beef you name it they have it and in cuts you dont see at a typical grocery store. They also offer free classes which are fun and educational
This locally owned grocery store has super friendly employees, an ultra-local sourced meat counter, eggs and produce. Their free cooking classes are the best - find dates, times and sign-up online via their website
I just want to say..please shop here and please shop local. Today I totally spaced and forgot my Wallet and in the midst of putting all my cold stuff back in prep for the walk home. I ask the kinds staff if there was a place I could place my shopping cart out of the way because I forgot my wallet. She replied we can do better than that and, ask a manager to confirm that I could in fact call in my payment! Yes, was the answer and to be honest Ive never felt this level of dignity during an embarrassing situation in a long time. So for all those still shopping at Whole foods ( Amazon), Fred Meyer and the like please, stop and shop local at Basic Market for all your grocery needs. Treating people as you would want to be treated yourself is hard to find in any industry and Im sooo happy to be in walking distance to Basics on Sandy!Side note they also help me order a few cases of hard to find mineral water with 10% off due to the volume I order.... Gold Standard and A+ for me.
Great, clean, and friendly
What a treat to have a friendly, neighborhood market! The kiosks with recipe cards and ingredients is genius! Think Blue Apron or Hello Fresh minus the mailing part. Its fabulous!
The staff is really nice and helpful
Good local food at fair prices. Support this store, its good for the community.
Very nice mix of upscale ingredients and staple items for everyday shopping. My baseline item for defining a nicer store is the availability of Havea Chips (amazing corn chips seasoned with soy sauce). Im happy to report that they have them here, as well as every type of exotic sugar referred to on the Great British Baking Show.
Great selection, for how small the location is in size. We always find ourselves trying to go there on a Sunday. I wish they were open on Sundays when Im out walking around with my kids. I would stop by here more often.
LOVE their free classes!! Especially their cinnamon roll class. Best cinnamon rollsI’ve ever had. Everyone is super friendly too!
I have purchased 125 dollars worth of meet from this market in the last two weeks. In the idea I would be helping my community in tougher times. That being said the Bacon I got was almost all fat and the same with the two lamb roast I bought.
I love this market, the employees are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful! The selection of products is good and the produce is fresh, Im looking forward to trying some of their meats soon. I appreciate that they source their products locally as much as possible and feature produce from some smaller organic farms. Prices seem to be in line with Whole Foods and New Seasons, in some cases a bit lower.
Great local market that has all the basics covered. Very friendly and helpful staff.
In a nutshell, it’s like a friendly 7-11 w/ local and organic food.
I loved the fact that the butcher shop is so filled with grass fed natural meats..and love the cooking classes offered! The recipes with easy grab ingredients are a godsend for busy people!
Beautiful produce and the staff/management is knowledgeable and very helpful. Prices comparable with WHole Foods; customer service is personal and friendly. I Love this place! I learn something cool every time I visit.
Always a nice experience.Love the concept. Great idea, well executed.
Its on the name. They have exactly what you need to cook dinner at home. No bs, just whole foods.
Amazing grocery selection for the size of the store. Great butcher counter. Fresh produce.
The meat counter is great.
Love shopping here. Prices are great and the free recipes are a great help when you’re not sure what to cook. Plus hooray for being open at 7am!
The best milk, eggs and chicken, all from their own farms and much more pleasant environment than the big grocery stores.
Small place with good products. .interesting in the kitchen demos and cooking classes.
Very nice small neighborhood market, with good selection and cooking classes also.
Incredibly nice employees. I came in during the first 30 minutes of opening, and was greeted by so many happy employees.Prices are comparable to other grocery stores, and the selection is pretty healthy and alternative. Its a small store, so dont expect to find 10 versions of the same product. They also have a coffee bar, which is pretty interesting. The magic seems to be in the classes provided. I attended the whole chicken carving class, and my mind was blown by the instructor... Who had decades of experience in everything food. Definitely a wealth of information, and made me super excited to apply everything I learned and buy some ingredients.Im excited to continue attending the classes and grabbing groceries here.
This is a small, but very well curated market. Good selection of things without having 10 types of everything. They are working on liquor license to sell beer/wine still. A lot of stuff comes from their own producers, including meat, poultry, eggs, vegetables. They have displays of menu ideas with most the ingredients right there if you dont know what ot make for dinner. Also have free cooking and nutrition classes in a very nice facility. Staff is super nice. Prices are quite good (e.g. AA organic eggs from their own producer at $3.99)
Great produce and meat. Staff door knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Best butcher in town. Affordable, great quality and 5 star service.
Free cooking and nutrition classes and healthy meal suggestions highlight this compact market with fresh meat, poultry, produce, and a coffee bar.
As the management adapts to local consumer demand it is more and more a go-to choice. Still too much plastic and no bulk options but great, friendly staff
Staff is awesome and the quality and prices put Whol Foods and New Seasons to shame
Yah, pretty lit
They are really friendly people!
A great market!
Excellent fresh ingredients.
It was great
