I stopped in just to see what this store was all about. There are so many puzzles of varying number and style!There were a lot of small models for painting (I assume for Dungeons and Dragons). Lots of dice and misc. interesting things. There was a selection of cards as well. Also, a good selection of board and table games.It was clean, open, and the staff was friendly.I didnt try the coffee (it seemed to be on a separate side from the merchandise).2021 COVID note: masks required.

Generally good store from my experiences thus far, just confused on some of the pricing for certain products. They seem to be inflated, as some items have reached as high as a whopping $180 more than they would be in retail! Im all for the store making some money too, but at a certain point it seems slightly egregious to mark up prices that much. These prices are even higher than scalpers at times. Im not trying to drag the store, as I think its a good place to shop. However, this is an issue that needs to be addressed and reevaluated.

I have been going through jigsaw puzzles like crazy while being unemployed due to covid. I can always rely on Red Castle for my next puzzle challenge. Fast, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

My brother and I have been coming here for a while. and I just had to leave a review after our interaction with Indigo at the Magic the Gathering section. They were amazing, and gave us a bunch of recommendations on how to build our Comander decks, tips and etiquette on playing with other people, and recommended some cards and websites that I fully intend to use in the future. Indigo, you rock! :)

A little pricey, but good variety of products. They have swatches of Dragon Shield sleeve protectors, so you can see the colors before you buy them. Which is more than I can say for Dragon Shield themselves, putting Lime in Olive. 😠😂

I really like this store. the staff is friendly and helpful, but youre trading card prices are insane and well above market value on most items. Youre better off buying on TCGplayer or straight from the manufacturer. demand is now being met by trading card companies and prices are dropping and yall should lower your prices as well

My favorite place to buy puzzles!As an immunocompromised person I have felt safe using the the walk up window during the pandemic and I have had a good experience every time. The staff are always wearing their masks properly and have a plastic barrier at the window. I have been able to purchase a wide variety of puzzles to stay busy.

Great deals on cards, friendly staff, and more. The people there know what theyre doing, and sell some products you wont find anywhere else. One of my favorite card shops here, Id love to visit it again sometime soon

Great friendly store with lots of great inventory. Easy location and bright conditions. Covid restrictions were still in place but they showed me their website and helped me pick out a few miniatures and quickly I was on my way. Highly recommended!

Red Castle is a fantastic locally owned card shop. The staff are friendly, it has online inventory, and a good selection. The best part about Red Castle and what keeps me coming back is that it has the best, most welcoming community of any LGS Ive been to in Portland. Its great for gamers of all ages and heartily recommended.

Terrific experience! A great, locally-owned shop that is worthy of a visit if you are anywhere near Portland. Huge selection of tabletop delights - board games, CCGs like Magic, RPGs and puzzles. So. Many. Puzzles. Add on top outstanding customer service from genuinely kind folks and you cannot ask for more from your friendly local game store.

Told me my card trades would have to be quarantined for a week before evaluation, but proceeded to take cash and give change without any quarantine of the cash. Not advocating quarantine of cash or cards, but doing one and not the other doesnt really make sense, will not return.

I go for the puzzles. They have a HUGE selection of puzzles. Has been so helpful during quarantine. Staff is always nice and they have a good rewards program.

Haven’t been here since the pandemic, but from what I remember it’s a great place for playing magic, the staff is super nice and helpful, and they have great trade in value for singles. Not to mention they have a wide variety of other games you can purchase plus they have quite a large amount of snacks to purchase so you will never go hungry during a tournament.

This used to be a great game store, with great people. Since the forced shutdowns began, obviously that business model has died, and now they have rude, aggressive employees who violate the ADA & HIPAA, refusing service and requiring others to do physical harm to themselves in order to shop here.After being a customer since they opened, I will never be shopping here again, and I will be leaving 1 star reviews everywhere I have the ability.

This place is nice and huge. But the downside they wont let anyone go inside at all to browse. I mean they could have limited the people onsode and put minimum limit to be in the store. Makes more sense but i dont think they have thinl about that. I wasnt able to see what i want. But the employee who help us was super nice. Thank you. But i still recommend this just to browse by the window.

First time buyer. Did a phone-in order and they were very nice and didn’t need a lot of info to complete the order. Order was ready when I arrived. I wanted to add an item when I arrived, but didn’t know what I wanted. They were able to show me the options without overwhelming me and were patient as I looked at everything. Very Covid safe. Great store!

The covid thing put a damper on them, as of 4/3/2021 you could only stand at the counter and window shop. They said they might be fully open after all the staff get their shots. For right now be sure you know what you want.

Was waiting in line to get in. A nice father and son had been waiting in front of us who went in first. We checked the prices of some of the items we were interested in on Red Castle’s website as we waited and were surprised at how expensive they were, but figured we still wanted to check out the merchandise. The father entered and asked about a few items, got confirmation on the prices and called this business out for selling merchandise at ABOVE scalper prices. The front desk woman was aggressively screaming at the father to go back to wherever he went to buy the cards then. It was really disgusting to watch as there were 3 young children in front of the door, too.It’s their business to price their merchandise as they please, but so unprofessional to scream at customers. I will never return here.

They had a nice shop and friendly employees. However, I called ahead to make sure they had a game (under falling skies). They did, they took my name and told me hey were holding it for me. And after an hour drive from Sandy I arrived to find out they sold the game Online that they told me they were holding for me.There are several other great game stores in Portland. I don’t recommend relying on a shop That prioritizes online sales over in person sales.Edit: problem wasn’t fixed, but management was quick to reply. Customer service is swift and active. And everyone I have dealt with was friendly and patient.

Easily my favorite B&M local game store in the Portland Area! Always excellent service and super friendly staff, and the way they navigated staying open through the shutdowns of 2020 was really incredible to see!

Staff was rude, yelled at me to leave when I expressed my disappointment that they where Marking up there pokemon card boxes by almost 500%. These are worse than scalpers prices. If you dont mind paying this is the place for you. There prices are clearly marked on there website. Your not reading it wrong.

I love this place. They arent the cheapest place in town always, BUT they are so knowledgeable and friendly. You can ask for a mix of items and they genuinely go and find you really fun awesome things to play. Im excited for COVID to have passed to be able to go and hang out. Theyve got everything youre looking for. If you manage to find something they dont have, they will order for you right away. Such a great place.

I know absolutely nothing about gaming. But I walked out of this establishment feeling like I had actually learned something. So apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks. I went in looking for Pokemon cards and learned a tremendous amount. Im really hoping the six-year-old that I purchased them for enjoys them. BTW. They have a really good selection.

Red Castle is, for my money, the best game store in Portland. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent space, and there seems to be a real sense of comradery over excessive competition that goes beyond the staff and into the customers as well!

Great service, knowledgeable staff, fun yet family-friendly atmosphere, and if they dont have a product your looking for — ie, it would have to be a pretty obscure item if they didn’t have it — they’re happy to work to get it for you. Cannot wait to get back in there, gathering around a table to play in-person again!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, with an excellent stock of games, cards, and minis. The safety measures are good, with no in store browsing, but at the door pick up is available for online orders, and drop in purchases!

Every time Ive gone in the staff had been friendly, welcoming, and seem to genuinely love working there. My son just got into Pokemon and the staff member and him talked about this and that. They made him feel very comfortable and like he was an adult customer. Ive also never had a negative experience with other customers as its obvious they take care to cultivate an inclusive atmosphere.

New location is great, staff still fantastic and an excellent selection of games, card, puzzles and more.

My wife and I went in to shop for Magic The Gathering game cards. Were both relatively ew to the process of deck creation. The sales associate up front patiently walked us through each Magic the Gathering booster pack, explaining the themes and perks. It was so fun and he was incredibly helpful. It made our experience much less intimidating. We even went back a week later for more, and well certainly be back again. Keep up the good work!

We love this game shop! They have the nicest employees and they have this killer game library where you can rent board games. Yes, like you can rent a board game, take it home and play it for a few days just like we did with DVDs at Blockbuster. Its the best. Also, they have arguably the best DnD dice selection in Portland. I may not have been to literally every game store in Portland, but like this place has HUNDREDS of dice. Its great. Also awful because now I have way too many sets.

Awhile back, I stopped by to check things out. I had been out of Magic for a few blocks and had no idea what had came out since I left. I asked to see a binder or something to get an idea of what there was available. The lady behind the counter told me to go order singles from their computer. I told her I didnt know what I wanted and she said that was the only way of doing things, so I left. Fast forward to tonight. I call, despite absolutely not wanting to, to see if they have a card Im looking for. Some guy answers and after asking, again, he refers me to a website. I get it, you have a lot of stuff and are apparently busy. If someone goes to a brick and mortar store, they shouldnt be sent to a computer or a website to get what theyre looking for. Especially when I can just as easily go to any other website and get the card Im looking for at a cheaper price. Absolutely unacceptable customer service from people that would rather stand around and chat than help people trying to support local business.

I found out that Red Castle has D&D kids birthday parties. For my sons 14th birthday party we set up a campaign. I was really impressed with how they customized the campaign to what my kid was thinking. All of them real had fun and loved the experience. Now they are talking about a graduation party.Im happy to have Red Castle in the neighborhood

It looks like a cool store but unfortunately it was still under construction so I was unable to wander.

Im mostly a painter and D&D kinda guy, but Red Castle has had everything Ive ever needed, and they have a great in-house play area. This isnt a huge location, but its never been too small for my needs. The prices are reasonable, and the staff (especially Mikey) are so damn friendly and helpful. Its like Im at my friends house and they just happen to sell stuff.

They have a great selection and an incredibly friendly staff. I really appreciate the fact that they have computers designated specifically for searching for card singles so I dont have to spend a lot of time flipping through binders and boxes. The only thing keeping me from rating them at a full 5 stars is their pricing. They have some products priced pretty high, especially compared to some other local game stores. They even have some Magic the Gathering singles priced nearly $10 more than anywhere else Ive seen the same cards. But yeah, other than that its a great store that I frequent

I visited this very cool, very clean gaming store while waiting for my table at Off The Griddle. Good selection of board and card games and accessories. Small but great selection of jigsaw puzzles. Nice gaming area with a weekly calendar of events.

Took my boys here to get some miniatures for our D&D campaign and was blown away by how many they had and how well organized their stock was. By far the best place Ive found for miniatures in Portland. Bonus: the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Great community for those looking to play magic or other table top games. And the Commander players, Tuesday is the time to come and have a good night of playing your favorite format.

Best game store in Portland! The staff are awesome! Incredibly knowledgeable about their games and how they play. Have received spot-on suggestions from Natalie and others who work here. Everyone is so friendly. Fantastic game rental library either for in-house or take home. We have made many decisions on games we loved and those we enjoyed but didnt feel had long term playability based on this library, and are very grateful for it. Family friendly atmosphere.

Went to checkout red castle after moving to the neighborhood. Went to see the 40k selection and what other things they had. They had a pretty small selection of 40k but can order anything for you. They also include a 15% discount on special order which is super awesome. Great board game and D&D mini collection, I could have spent a good hour just looking through the D&D section off the store. Thought the rental board games were an awesome idea and will definitely be taking advantage of it in the near future. Very clean and well lit which is a huge plus in my book. All the employees were super helpful in answering my questions and I never felt like I was being talked down to for asking questions. Looking forward to bringing my army down and playing at this shop.

Lots of fun games to buy. Crowded, but Im sure theyre happy with that. Friendly staff. Ive never been in the back to play, but lots of people there. I had some trouble finding the figurines I wanted, but my friend painted the one I got, so I was happy with it.

Red Castle Games has quickly become our go-to place for MTG drafts and other events. They have a great selection of games for purchase or rent, plus a fantastic (and very clean) space for table top gaming. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and are always available to help you out, whether you are a seasoned gamer, or a n00b just getting your feet wet.

The kids who go there love it. Parents maybe not so much. They lure you to play and slowly you become urged to buy game cards to go on. Well, its teaching real life. And sharing time together, not sitting at the PC or Xbox is so much better. (Not talking about worse things.)

This place is fantastic, if youre a gamer. Tons of product; knowledgeable staff; bright, open retail space with plenty of room for gaming near the back. They have drinks and snacks for the gamers, and enough dice, Magic the Gathering cards, and box-sets of Pathfinder to make you smile and make your wallet cry. (Though their prices are reasonable, except on single dice.)Recommended!

I was visiting my brother in Portland, and he suggested that we head on over to Red Castle to try out some new board games. It was amazing! Tons of games (and expansions to games), things that I never imagined existed. They even have a game playing area, yes... you can actually sit in there and play board games. We had so much fun playing SushiGo! The vibe here is fun and creative and welcoming. The staff did a fantastic job suggesting games that we might like. I love this place and will definitely go back. Fun times for all. :)

Great staff, fair play is encouraged better than other stores, their events sometime will go on until 6 in the morning which is waaaay too long for a mtg release but it’s still a lot of fun.Best prizes pay out system in Portland
