Its a very small shop, but in the best way. Lots of well priced back issue comics, well organized, with grades and prices clearly marked on the bag of each one. I was very happy with the comics I found here and will definitely be back to look for more in the future.
Tiny which is fine, but when we said we just wanted to look around the worker was pretty rude about it and said he was closing and that they usually close at 8. We were there well before 8 and the worker was so unfriendly so wont be going back. There are far better comic shops in town.
Really great selection of vintage stuff from the last 70 years or so. Comics, sports memorabilia, magazines, many things that are hard to find anywhere else. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. A cool guy.
Somewhat limited selection on comics unfortunately, however its very well stocked with a little bit of everything. The owner has been around a long time and has roots in the community. Parking can be a little tricky, so expect to Scout for parking a bit. Hes extremely knowledgeable in his field and gives more than fair grades on his comics. Overall, its definitely a business that we will continue to go back to.
Nice shop. Quirky small space fullof cards and comics. Having a super saleon all items. Owner was knowledgeable and kind.
Owner seems a bit angry and out of touch with the modern world. Dont waste your money here.
The owner was very knowledgeable. It was pretty cool hearing the tidbits of information he had about any comic/character we asked about, and the owner was fun to talk with. Great back issue selection and specialty items. Very good prices. The owner said he would evaluate our collections for free if we brought them in, which I thought was really cool. He also holds items for you if you ask and he said that theres no limit on that. Every comic is graded, and the grading is on the bag, which was very helpful. This place will definitely be one of my regular stops on my comic book days.
So, me and my uncle went card shopping here, as we stopped by Guardian Games, Experience Point, and Gambit (Lloyd center) (I reccomend all of these other shops) and we made our last stop here. When we went in, I asked if he had a certain card, and he started going off on how his card shop is the best here and he doesnt sell new cards because of the internet black market and to come back in 2-3 months. (For reference, the card I was looking for was made in 2011 and costs $1-3.) Owner is very arrogant, offering someone $1000 to find a better shop than this. Bad selection, overpriced comments. Only two stars because he pointed me to a better card shop (Red Castle Games)
Nice mom and pop setup for hard to find and rare stuff
This store rocks. The owner was helpful and very knowledgeable about what he is dealing with. The store is so small 2 maybe 3 people can get in at once, but once youre in its like finding a secret cave of lost memorabilia, magazines, photos, autographs, comic books, trading cards, and toys and in that moment any of it could be yours. They do appraisal but not grading. Thanks to the owner for keeping it going for 33 years.
Awesome spot! The owner was extremely nice and very helpful. Really cool spot
This is an old school store with an old school owner. Its a small hole in the wall, that replicates the experience of digging through a collectors estate sale. The owner is knowledgeable, informed, and is willing to provide lots of useful information. It is noteworthy that as far as I can tell this store is cash only.It could also be somewhat difficult to spot from the street.
One of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had in a card shop very knowledgeable had a great chat about cards / and sports here in Portland I will be visiting here again also got a free pistol Pete card
Old school, low-tech, wont let you just browse, way too small, cant turn around inside, took multiple visits to find him while he was actually there even after calling and immediately showing up 5 minutes later. I became afraid to ask questions because hed go off for 10 minutes about collectibles I didnt want. While waiting for him to come back from his frequent breaks, was harassed by randos on the street who then tried to get into his store after seeing us standing around waiting. Wont be back. Cute idea tho. Just not for me apparently
Strange little comic book and collectibles shop. Worth a look
This place is the worst. Do not go here stay away. Owner is out of his mind. Spend your money elsewhere.
Excellent customer service and no line. They have a lot of comics and cards. I took my nieces and nephew and all three of them loved it.
Cards I bought were damaged, owner is hostile. All sales are final, even if the products are not what they are labeled. Buyer beware.
Its great
The prices are awesome for comic books. There’s always a half off sale! Plus the owner is super nice. It’s the first place I go. The store is very small but packed with stuff. I don’t always find what I’m looking for but I always chat with the owner for a bit. It’s worth a visit.
Ive been coming to this shop since I was in the second grade. I have grown quite fond of the shop and gotten to know the owner. Lance is a really nice, passionate, and all around outstanding guy who has good prices and is constantly giving deals etc. Fun to chat with and the place has charm you wont find elsewhere. Theres a lot of comic shops around here, most are nice, some professional, others more personal but none compare to this place. If you want more info message me, or just head down there yourself, you wont regret it. Also a few people on here have complained about pricing, thing is he uses a different way of pricing then people are used to online. Sometimes stuff is being sold for less then its worth, not including discounts.
Went in today and met Lance, the proprietor. Great guy, great deals, had a great time. Will definitely go back. Great discounts!
Stopped in and met the owner he gave us fantastic service and recommendations. We were looking for a Riverdale comic book, for a gift, and left with a first edition. Picked up some old Disney comics too. The shop is filled with a great selection of comics. Honestly Id forgotten how much fun comics can be. We will be back.
Every square inch of that place is packed w comic books. Easy parking, lots of stuff to look at everywhere you look. The guy means well, a good store.
Some serious customer service issues at this place. All I did was call on the phone and ask if they had a certain comic in stock and the employee was incredibly rude and arrogant. When a customer asks if you have a comic do you usually go on a tirade about how you’re the best comic book store in the Pacific Northwest, how you have a 50% off sale (that I never asked about) and how if I were to find a better sale (again, not looking for a sale, looking for A COMIC) that you’ll give me $500!? And then say “AND ITS NOT FUNNY!” And hang up on me when in response I laughed and said “sounds good sir.”Like honestly, it was a simple question and you just acted like a complete child. Glad I didn’t even waste my time walking into your door. Can’t imagine how the customer service would’ve been in person. And to whoever was on the phone with me, get over yourself.
Stopped in the shop today while my wife was in surgery down the street. The fella working named Lance was very friendly. Purchased some older cards from him and a few He-man comics. Great deals btw! Even gave me a he-man comic that was half off for a buck less because i was short. Going to bring my daughter in here for sure. Pleasure meeting you bro. See ya soon lance. Help me get a nice collection going for my 1 year old son.Jimmy
After purchasing he gave me free old packs
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, no pressure just a nice place to shop.
Really nice owner, great deals and a ton of classic comics and magazines. Very unique little comic shop.
Acme Comics is very tiny, but has pretty much anything you may want. The owner was beyond nice and helpful. Prices are great too! It was our first time there but wont be the last.
Okay here goes,Walked in looking for some cards. The owner wanted me to have a printed list of the cards I want and didnt have any bins/binders/boxes of loose cards to flip through (which is an important part of the experience of going to a card shop IMO). When I told him I only have a checklist for my collection on my phone he went on this incoherent rant (that I couldnt help but feel like was a bit of a personal attack) about how doing stuff electronically is bad and how CEOs everywhere want you to use more and more electricity blah blah blah. Really weird and off-putting to say the least. Then he went on to completely oversell his business and claim that he has a 5 star Google rating (which he doesnt). So after being deliberately lied to and feeling quite insulted I noped out of there real fast. Im sure this guy is very knowledgeable and his prices seem pretty good (the reason why this isnt a 1 star review). So if you are considering this shop just brace yourself ahead of time and come prepared with your handwritten list lol.
The shop was fairly small. The owner appeared to be very educated in the items that he sold. We went there to sell trading cards...
Free giveaways with every purchase! Super nice guy.
This place is the best... If I were you Id get there before the end of the month while theyre still doing half off deals
The shop itself is pretty cool and I liked their prices a bit more than others. I was happy with what I got. Its a place Id probably go to more often
Great guys, always willing to give you the best deal.
I waited in the rain for this place to reopen (sign on the door) and after being inside for 15 minutes was told that they have a 5 minute browsing policy. Wow. Seriously, how rude and illogical is that??? Besides that, everything is overpriced, not a deal in the place that I could find. Dont go here, just dont. There are much better comic book stores in Portland. Ive been collecting for 30+ years and these guys wont see a dime from me.
Cigarettes and paper collectibles dont mix, smoke tends to leave yellow stains. I know you just want me to leave so you can keep smoking, but quit rushing me.
Small shop, but knowledgeable and passionate owner and a good selection given the size
Helpful and very informative. Selling comics and felt I got a fair price
I have been going to this place for a while and I go over there Thursday August 4th 2016 hoping to buy things from Lance (Owner of this business) and he said hes not buying anything today when I didnt have anything to get rid of. He told me to come by around Christmas time. I told him I wanted to buy things for him since I had money at the time. He also explained to me he was NOT open for business that day when his sign on his shop had clearly stated he was in fact open daily 10-8 pm everyday. I had brought my lists like he wanted me to the last time I went about 7 months ago or so. I do NOT plan on going back to this store if he is going to be disrespectful and very rude and inconsiderate like that.
Bad place to be I went here before and other people also complained about the pricing and theyre reputation in this community. If you need to. At least price them over MTG player and fix them because disc heros LLC is way more better with magic players and people in general. Disrespectful.
Probably the best comic shop in the area!
Awesome little hole in the wall store. Best prices in town
