Triumph disappoints again! Great coffee (Altho a bit pricey) and great atmosphere, friendly staff…..BUT (and its a big butt) their hours of operation are VERY INCONSISTENT. Sometimes they are open at 8am or maybe 9am, or later. Sometimes they are open till 3pm (which they advertise) but often they are closed by 2pm. So, once again I’m caffeine deprived and have to find a more reliable coffee spot. :/
Low-key coffee shop with a decent selection of breakfast and lunch items like pastries, bagels, burritos, sandwiches. I came by an early weekday morning and had a breakfast burrito which was delicious. The one thing that bugs me a little is that the lady before me had a big order and because there was just one person manning the shop, from taking orders to making coffee to preparing sandwiches, I had quite a wait.
Inside is charming. Tables on the side are nice outdoor seating with personalized graffiti. The coffee, to me was a bit bitter but others in my party were pleased with the flavor. It is worth the visit for you to decide.
Yesterday I was looking for a place to get coffee to take home to my wife. She looked at Triumphs menu online and asked to try the sizable breakfast burrito as well. I called in the order: burrito, plus 16 oz Americano with heavy cream (which my wife prefers to half-and-half). The guy said it would be about 10 minutes. When I got there, there was a man and a woman behind the counter. The man was busy, so the woman asked how she could help me. I repeated the order Id called in; she rang it up, but noted they dont offer heavy cream for coffee - half-and-half only, which was self-serve. I was disappointed, but said okay. (I shouldve asked why no heavy cream, or if it could be done for an extra charge.) Then while she was making the coffee, the man brought out the heavy cream and set it next to her. She asked him to put it away, and when he tried to ask her about it she made it clear she wouldnt use the cream, and said, can we not talk about this right now? The whole thing was really awkward, and seemed pointless - whats the big deal about putting a little heavy cream in coffee when requested? Charge extra if you need to. I was unimpressed, and dont plan to return.
Good coffee. Lots of vegan options. Really loved the Jane Fonda sandwich.
Always superb customer service and the employees are super personable. My coworkers and I love stopping by for lunch and coffee when we can.
I love this place, because no matter when I come over(with or without my kids) someone is always willing to open the door for me.Why is that important? Because I mostly travel in a scooter & this is really one of 2 places that open the door when they see me coming. Thats awesome & one reason to love this place. The other Reason is that the Barry Gibb & the Rod Steward sandwich are really good too. But most of all I love the salted caramel brownie they have there🤩🙌🏿Its my favorite item💕💕mmmmmk
Vanilla Malt latte tasted off to me. Service was acceptable but could have been friendlier. I’ll give them another shot and try the Mexican mocha next time
Got good breakfast burritos. One vegan and one so much. Great coffee. Friendly
Ones of my favorite neighborhood coffee shops. Cozy couches, tables are well spaced so your not right on top of each other. I love the 70s kitsch. The Vietnamese latte, and crumpets are two of my favorite things! Its a great place to work or hang out/catch up with a friend. Ive always had super friendly service.
Helped in a pinch when I needed to print. The Coffee and zucchini bread was choice
Local corner coffee and breakfast
The music is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The drip coffee isn’t too bad, but it’s honestly hard to find good drip coffee in the PNW. The atmosphere is really friendly.
Delicious coffee and very COVID-safe.
This is one of my favorite Saturday Hangouts. The staff is friendly. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is as chill and relaxed as you could hope for in a town like Portland. Its a must visit place when youre visiting Portland. And easy parking too.
We’re staying nearby while we visit Portland. Glad we came in here. Great cold brew. Our breakfast sandwiches were fantastic - it’s rare that I’m full from a breakfast sandwich but these were no joke. Comfortable, chill atmosphere and really friendly service.
Amazing coffee, great service, and good people all around.
My favorite thing about Triumph is the atmosphere: it feels friendly and laid back without feeling like its...trying to feel friendly and laid back, if that makes sense. Its just a nice place to be. A couple years ago I was doing a lot of work on my laptop in coffee shops, and Triumph was my favorite place to work. Also, theyll serve you coffee in a huge beirstein which is honestly the only way to drink coffee. Nice, solid food options as well. Feels like a real, honest coffee shop in a way lots of places in Portland only wish they could.
Cozy little coffee shop, friendly staff. It was pretty quite on Sunday afternoon. Good place to work or read a book. I stayed for couple of hours, had coffee, read my book. Customers in the shop were quite as well. I would go here again for a quite place and good coffee.
My local coffeehouse. Fast service and inventive seasonal drink specials. Triumph is definitely more than a coffeehouse though. There are quite a few groups that meet here on different days of the week. There are also live music performances and poetry readings pretty frequently. Make sure you dont pass on the food menu as it is well worth the few minutes of extra waiting.
Chill little spot.To whom ever made this Carmel brownie I’m eating;Good job! It is so delicious!!!!
Great coffee and atmosphere. Amazing burritos!
Great spot for coffee. Also try their breakfast sandwiches! They have vegan and gluten free options and theres always a new seasonal coffee or tea to test. Seating options include couches, chairs, and stools. Inclusive atmosphere and great artwork!
An excellent, chill cafe to get some work done and eat affordable baked goods. Service here is stellar, bathrooms superb, and atmosphere cozy.
Busy place, but room to sit down on a Sunday afternoon. Reasonable snack selection, not just sweets and muffins. Theme seems to be 1970s classic rock. Good coffee.
Super nice barista and amazing breakfast sandwiches. The tempeh is awesome and the manchego mushroom biscuits are a must. Great coffee too!
Sweet cinnamon latte with oat milk was so good, I couldn’t drink it fast enough. Great PDX neighborhood spot, charming and clean inside.
Loved the seating area, including many tables and a few comfy chairs. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Coffee was fine, but nothing special by Portland standards. The major downer though was a dope fiend who came into the shop, purchased nothing, and then sat in a chair and clearly conducted several transactions with some of his clients who came to the shop to buy from him. He also ducked into the bathroom for 15 minute intervals — lets just say he was not answering natures call. Couldnt leave my laptop out around him — he was definitely scanning the place for anything that might be valuable.I know the shop is in a bind when it comes to junkies if they arent directly disturbing anyone, but you cant let a dope fiend turn your business into his personal marketplace. It turned a nice atmosphere into an uncomfortable one.
Even coming up on closing time, the lovely man working the counter was friendly and helpful. My friend and I came out of the transaction with an absolutely incredible slice of almond and raspberry tart and a few iced coffees for very little money. The decor indoors is colourful and fun, with lots of places to sit and enjoy. This includes a good set of picnic tables outside.Recommended without hesitation!
Triumph Coffee is Mellow & Laid Back with Assorted Couches & Chairs to Kick Back While Eating Tasty Food with Good Sized Portions. Coffees good. Havent tried any other drinks yet.Homey feel & looks to the place. If it gets busy theres still room to breath & walk. Im a few times a week customer & keep going back...
Ummm.. It was really good
Friendly, casual, comfortable, good coffee, great bagel sandwiches and pastries, and super queer friendly. If you want Starbucks then go to Starbucks! If you want a friendly local small business then come here!
They have soy and gluten free options and they are SUPER GOOD. breakfast can be fast AND healthy. It was like walking into the early 90s
Very friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, food and coffee tastes good, LGBTQ+ safe space.
Server is helpful and friendly. The place gives off a home vibe. Coffee is decent. Interesting little place.
They got solid vegan options for food, the coffee is great, and the vibe is nice and calm. It would be a perfect 5 star if the prices were a bit lower, but $4.50 for a soy latte and like $3.50 for just plan in the same size is a bit high.
Cute place, good vibes. Really yummy white mochas.
Theyve found the perfect and hard to achieve balance of making the space cozy and well lit at the same time. A chill spot that alway plays great tunes. Triumph Coffee is perfect for doing work, reading, or hanging out. Coffee and food are good too!
Triumph is a pleasant stop. Friendly and welcoming when I was there. Low key, quaint place with more than decent coffee.
Excellent little coffee shop, nice employees and great coffee!
Nice people, plus they have coffee and baked stuff. Easy chairs on a sofa, plus tables and counters by the window.
Great vegan options! Quick service. Coffee was not good. We came at the busiest time on Saturday (around noon) and it was very loud and somewhat crowded. Im visiting but would only come back if it was the closest shop to where Im staying.
I am sure that things will get better but the barista in training that had no trainer served me the worst foam of my life. Nice atmosphere tho.
As much as I want to like this place, I cant. Despite its calm environment and whisk bathroom key chain, my colleagues and I have ran into poor hospitality by staff members on a couple occasions. When you receive a drink thats subpar, it should be acceptable to bring this to the attention of the barista, right? Maybe politely ask to have it remade or replaced with something else. After all, no one wants to sip down a drink that tastes like thick spicy bathwater (overly priced at $5 for an 8oz) Well, thats exactly what happened.I didnt anticipate the level of resistance that I encountered from a manager to replace a poorly made drink. After five minutes of comments like these: Im the manager and I cant do that for you.Its not like I made the drink incorrectly. We dont do that here. I dont know what to tell you. She finally politely said If it means that much to you, I will replace the drink. I understand that its locally owned and not a Starbucks or Dutch, but is it too much to ask for common courtesy and basic hospitality? P.S this was the Mexican Mocha--- Order at your own risk!
Nice staff, but understaffed. Very nice coffee (latte). Comfortable space.
This place is adorable! The food and drinks are great, and they offer gluten free bagels for their breakfast sandwiches!
Nice place. Good coffee, good service.
Relaxing and delicious! Lovely get centered spots up in the window are to connect with the sky and ponder, or pull out your laptop to work.
LOVE this place! Great coffee, food, snacks and a friendly old-Portland vibe. Saturday mornings for Fae Coffee are legendary. Say hi to owner Emily and thank her for taking the reins.
Good place to sit down, read book, and work project with laptop.
Delightful place. The pricing structure for drip coffee is sheer madness - beware.
Ive come here at least twice a week since they opened! Love it. My community living room away from home!
It used to be 3 Friends, and it was far more cozy, friendly, and welcoming. Now, it is sparce, drafty, and trying to hard. I was going to give it 3 stars, but as I was writing the review, someone came in off the street and asked if they could use the restroom. They were refused because it is for customers only. This lack of human decency compels me to lower the rating to 2 stars. I will not be returning soon.
Friendly barista, fast service and really good coffee. They still have soy milk (yay!) and a well stocked pastry case with options for those avoiding specific foods (eg vegan and gluten free goodies available).
Good food. Great coffee. Extremely friendly staff.
Just sort of stumbled into while passing by. Nice little spot that is accepting of the LGBTQ community.
A very friendly, welcoming, and deliciously cozy hangout. Made to feel right at home and had some great conversations with some interesting regulars.
My local breakfast bagel sandwich go to! Lots of vegan and gluten free options. Great service!
Loved the place, atmosphere, food, coffee and everything BUT can’t give 5stars cause just soooo much single use plastic here 💔.
Great coffee, vibe. Amazing breakfast sandwiches
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Staff is incredibly friendly.
This coffee shop has great coffee, delicious sandwiches with many gluten-free and vegan options. Most of the staff is super friendly. Ample seating, free wifi, and you can even print documents there! Radical politics, friendly, fast service, and a diet restriction-saavy menu makes Triumph my favorite place in Portland.
Great service, OK prices, Meh coffee
This is an amazing, Old Portland, coffee shop that does not cater to entitled tech bros who seek to abuse the owners hospitality. This isnt San Francisco. Ive always received amazing coffee, great service, and good food every time Ive gone in. Peoole like Joey, (see below), are the reason why these hidden gems are being replaced with condos. Support your local coffee shop and dont be so butt hurt.Thank you Triumph for keeping me cafinated.
It was the only place open when I was in the area. Great prices & super nice staff. Will swing by again if Im in this neck of the woods.
Sweet cinnamon latte is delicious and worth a try!
Good coffee. Decent food. Vegan/vegetarian options
Clean, inclusive, rotating art its great but coffee refills should be
Did not even finish my coffee or scone as both were, in my opinion, of very poor quality. Their internet was sketchy and dropped out multiple times and it was hot stuffy and uncomfortable inside. I liked nothing about this place.
Pretty good place to meet with friends, but its a little pricey
A cozy, generally quiet, neighborhood coffee shop. Theres an excellent cross section of SE Portland that frequents here, from discussion groups to hippies quietly singing in the corner. The coffee meets Portland standards but falls short of places like Barista. However, Triumph had more non-milk options than most other shops (As of this review: soy, hemp, almond, coconut). There is a small section of pastries, bagels, and sandwiches that are all tastey, and will keep you full on extended visits. My favorite thing about this place after the couches. Not enough coffee shops have couches.
Had a great cinnamon roll latte 😍😋👌
I really appreciate the wide variety of delicious vegan options for both food and drink!
Delicious coffee and friendly people.
Great coffee, skilled staff, comfortable seating and lighting, and just the right amount of ambient noise to be able to have a real conversation.
The owner harassed me and asked me to leave for not making a purchase, even though I brought someone in who made a full purchase, including drink, food and dessert. She even gave me a lecture on having to pay bills, though my colleague probably payed for hours worth of WiFi or electricity. I will never go back nor schedule any meetings with potential paying customers, including myself. Im glad I didnt give a dime to that greedy owner. Many of my friends are taking my word for it already. #notworthmymoney #bizzareexperience #spreadtheword
Friendly barista, even though they were very busy. Very good latte
Wonderful smell! Smells like my grandma! I miss her so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Welcoming environment, friendly staff, non-pretentious coffee shop.
Great coffee, dope staff, sweet location, closes late!
Nice little neighborhood coffee shop. Radical Faeries meet here on Saturday morning
The most comfortable chairs in the world and good coffee
Fantastic Spiced Chai with oat milk!
Its not exactly on the menu, but they make a fantastic Mexican spiced Americano (a Mexicano?) Which is one of their mexican mochas made with water instead of milk or milk substitute. So good.
Nice local cafe to grab a bite and chill
Poor wifi. Went here to use the wifi and their printer (available for a charge). Could not get the wifi to work after ordering my drink. The guy working there said it must be working because the music was streaming. So I guess thats that. Maybe why there was only one other person there. Wont be back.
Great place to chill on a sunday morning with friends
This is the worst coffee shop I ever been to, the barista is the most rude ever she has red hair and brown hair mix, she would get so mad if someone didnt answer her in a half second slaming things hitting things being so blantanly rude to customers my partner and I are gay and I thought with the rainbow flag this place would be welcoming but I will never come here again.. Seriously hands down worst coffee shop I ever been to
Great cold brew!
