I am the daughter of a retired mechanic. Im extremely particular about who I take my cars to. These guys are hands down the best mechanics Ive dealt with in my adult life. They are honest, give you all your options, and do quality work. Its peace of mind to have people that you can trust deliver any auto repair news, because lets face it, wed all rather be spending our money on other things besides car repair. At least knowing you are being dealt a fair honest hand makes it easier to swallow.

This was the worst experience with a mechanic i have ever had.It took them two weeks to even look at my car and a month to repair it.After charging me 4-6 times the price of every part plus extensive labor costs they went on and on about how much of a deal they were giving me.Not even a month after the repair my fiance and I were moving to another state. We were driving in the middle of nowhere when my oil light came on.Not even five minutes later my engine starts knocking and my engine is dead. All around auto supposedly did a full oil service and change. We ended up hiking 20 miles to get oil to find out the engine was beyond repair.We were stranded in the middle of nowhere, no mechanic could see us for 2 weeks and the insurance couldnt look at it until then, paid towing fees and had to sell my car for a fraction of the price to even get out of the town.Now were without a car and looking for a new one on our own dime in a super inflated used car market.Avoid this place like the plague!

Justin who works at All Around Automotive is a great guy. Friendly and he knows cars. They did a repair to fix some squeaking and it didnt work so they refunded my money.Ive been using All Around Automotive for years and they do good work at fair prices. Convenient location too for those that live in the Richmond neighborhood.

I am seriously so grateful to have stumbled across these guys about a year and a half ago now. We have an older conversion van (1995) that we purchased to make our camping and festival van. Because of this, it is imperative for us that she is in the best running condition so we obviously dont get stranded. We can honestly say that, thanks to All Around, we have been to three festivals, did a 4 day OR road trip and probably 6 different camping trips all over OR with zero vehicle issues (knock on wood)! All Around has always performed a full vehicle check (when we request), written down whatever they feel should and/or must get fixed, explain it all and even provide which repairs need sooner than later and which were safety/mechanically priority to help out our budget and be able to fit all repairs in while keeping safety as the top priority. We couldnt ask for more when it comes to support and service.In addition, All Around is also the best in my opinion for their ability to explain the situation in non-technical terms so you can understand what you need repaired, as well as for their thoroughness. As an example we initially took our van to a previous mechanic that was very reputable (and a lot more $$$ might I add) and All Around discovered that the other mechanic had installed one of our rear brakes incorrectly! That was frustrating b/c we just dropped a lot of $$$ to get the entire rear brakes repaired/upgraded by this other mechanic. The best part was that All Around documented everything and told me if I wanted to go talk to the previous mechanic and let them know what was discovered, that they would be more than happy to discuss it with them in more detail if they wanted. Now that is just amazing in my opinion! That is tip top customer service and something I feel is very hard to come by now-a-days.All Around Automotive is a unicorn in the world of mechanics in my opinion because of their level of honesty, very competitive pricing, level of competence and their ability to not make you feel like an idiot when explaining what you need. As a customer we are not mechanics and I feel here they not only know and understand that but take it into consideration with their approach with explaining your vehicle repair so you can actually understand and be confident that not only is the repair needed but that it will also get done right the first time! When I came to this shop, I thought they were amazing. Super nice and informative, and they even reduced the labor costs to keep it affordable.I came in twice - once because my car wouldnt run a drive cycle. They managed to diagnose the issue - it was related to the tank pressure sensor. The repair cost me $730. I was able to pass DEQ, but shortly after the check engine light came on. My dash had an alert that read check emission system. Life happened and I couldnt bring it back in right away, but it was driving normally. When I brought it back in and they said it was because the fuel tank cap was put on wrong and now parts of the solenoid needed to be replaced. I dont know if this is proper terminology, Im just approximating from the invoices. That cost me another $450. I thought it curious that the repair was in the same area as the previous one, considering the light came on so quickly after the first repair. Well, my check engine light never did go out. It was driving fine and I needed my car - I couldnt afford to have it sit at a shop for another few weeks. Fast forward a few months and I was finally able to take it in. This time, I went to another shop and you know what they told me? They had to gut all the work All Around did because they used parts that werent compatible with my car!! They had spliced them together so they functioned but they still were setting off codes. And the icing on the cake is that their janky warranty system is such garbage Ill probably never be able to get my money back.

I have been going here for the past 8 years and would recommend their services to anyone. They do high quality work along with friendly service and thorough diagnostics. Even details like a well written receipt and good communication during a fix go a long way and I have always experienced that from them.

These guys take great care of my good old 97 Subaru. They are fair and honest. They help me decide how to prioritize maintenance to fit within my budget. I have moved across town, but still bring the car to All Around Automotive when it needs servicing. AND they make the whole experience fun and easy.

The folks at All Around Automotive are super friendly, honest, and professional. They do not do any work on my car that isnt needed. They explain everything that needs to be repaired and why. Their estimates are spot on and their prices are reasonable, their work is excellent! I trust the mechanics and I feel safe in my 2005 Saturn. I recently got new brakes, tires, struts and shocks instead of trading it in for a newer car. The mechanic gave me very good information so that I could make an informed decision. Im glad I kept it. These guys are the best. They are incredibly friendly, listen to you, and explain everything they are going to do before they do it. Ive worked with James and Justin a couple of times and have had a great experience each time.Most recently the battery in my car died and I didnt have an easy way to get my car to their shop. Instead of having to call a tow truck or find someone to give me a jump to drive the couple blocks, they offered to come and get my car.You wont get charged if they dont find something wrong with your car, their prices are fair, they call to update you if they find anything new or surprising, or to say theyre all done, and they are easy and accommodating to work with. All Around Automotive is the closest to a Cheers atmosphere you will ever get at an autobody shop. I highly recommend.

Friendly, helpful, great work. like any mechanic who looks over a high mileage vehicle, they gave me suggestions of other things I should think about having done, but they stopped at just suggestions and did not push it which I truly appreciate. I told them all I could do at the time and they did it very well, at a great rate, and they did not waste anytime getting the job done. Plus they were incredibly friendly. Ive been taking my old Camry and a newer Sentra to these guys for almost three years and have had nothing but positive experiences there. James and Justin are always upfront and clear about whats going on with your car, and conduct themselves in the spirit of genuine desire to help and be friendly (they even offered to drive my car back to my home free because I was worried about driving in the icy conditions we had last winter!). Like me, they value quality labor and parts, and they stand behind the work they do, which is very reassuring and keeps me coming back.

All Around has consistently friendly and above and beyond service. They helped me out in tight jam when I needed a trustworthy mechanic...so I called them and they not only came through for me, but had excellent follow-up and made sure things worked out. They have treated me fairly and with good service and I highly recommend them as a reliable place in Portland.

This is the 3rd car that AAA has maintained for me. They remind me when its time for oil changes, etc. They always inspect the car and tell me what to watch for. They also dont mind patiently explaining virtually everything about how an auto works.

I can’t recommend these guys enough. Choosing a trustworthy, efficient car mechanic can be tough. Once I found All Around two years ago, I haven’t gone to anywhere else and don’t plan to for as long as I live in Portland. Not only are they locally run, good at what they do, and keep prices as low as possible, but they are extremely honest and friendly people. Justin and James know almost all of their customers by name and are friendly with everyone that walks in. That extra layer of customer service and getting to know your customers makes a huge difference. When I have to spend a lot of money on getting my car fixed (I have an old Toyota, so it happens a lot), going into All Around and laughing with James and Justin makes the whole experience better. It’s like Cheers where everybody knows your name and can make fun of you for always forgetting to turn your lights off. If you’re looking for a place that is great at fixing cars, doesn’t escalate the prices, and has a great staff, then All Around is the place.

John and Justin took the time to explain the issues that I was having (in terms that even I could understand) and had them repaired in the time frame that was promised. I have had nothing but great experiences with AAA and would (and do) recommend them! Everyone there is super friendly, and are great about explaining things I dont understand (which is most of it). I always feel like they are being honest with me about whats going on with the car. They call me when they have an idea of what the problem is, and give me all the details and options with price quotes. Theyll tell me what needs to be done ASAP versus what can wait if I dont have the budget for it. Ive taken both my cars there for various things over the years, and always go there for services and oil changes. The turnaround is always quick, too. Thanks guys!

Good outfit to do business with. They have worked on all my cars and parents cars for about 20 years. Nice fellows .all of them ! I have found them honest and appreciate their input and side-bar info to help on decision making for repairs and about car maintenance in general. I even have them do the bi-annual maintenance on my new car (oi change, etc,) !

So the first time I came in I had a bad experience, they put in regular oil instead of the high mileage stuff I wanted. They ended up getting ahold of me later and wanted to make it up to me, and boy they sure did. Super nice people, extremely nice and knowledge, they went above and beyond for me. Definitely going to be doing my oil changes here for a long time. Doesnt hurt that the neighborhood is full of great places to eat!

Rip Off!!!!! These guys identified over $1,000. in work my van did not need. I verified this through a reputable, honest mechanic. I was also charged twice as much for the work they did do than another garage would have charged. Dont go here unless you have lots of money, time and patience to waste! Bad business is one thing, ripping people off is another. If I could give no stars I would.

Their level of service is consistent and they do the right thing before you have to ask. Key is their thorough communication at each and every step. Theyre as green as a shop can get. A nice bonus is -- theyve got an excellent sense of humor. I cant recommend them highly enough.

All Around has been working on my old pick up for a few years now. They perform my regular maintenance and have done some larger jobs including a clutch replacement and installing new shocks. All of their work has been reliable and trustworthy. They review everything with me and give me options for what needs to be done. They are not always the cheapest option but I have never paid to much more than the cheapest shop and All Around uses top quality parts.The folks there are super friendly and have always done something extra for me. Theyre good people to know and they know their jobs well. I highly recommend them especially for people who are less informed about the mechanics of their cars.

BEWARE!!!Ive had a very unique experience with All Around. I took my MINI Cooper in for three separate repairs. During the second repair they forgot to torque the oil pan drain plug and three days after returning it to me, ALL the oil spilled out of my car. This caused a timing chain issue, which I then spent $1465 to correct (as excuses were made as to why the plug came loose, one quote included it seemed like youve been off-roading which was not the case.) Then they fixed the timing chain and forgot to replace a bolt which caused extensive engine damage to my car and then the engine ceased to run! My MINI cooper is now completely dead!! I then spent 3 months settling with an insurance adjuster and ended up having to replace my car. In the course of 3 repairs Ive spent $3266 with this shop.Ive had many dishonest interactions with this business. During the final repair and after 2 weeks of riding the bus and and walking in the ice and snow (this occurred during winter), I asked for a rental car. Justin (head mechanic) wanted me to front the money for the rental and said that this was the usual procedure and that Id be re-paid by personal check. I called Enterprise and they quickly informed that this was not the usual procedure and that I needed the invoice number. I called Justin back and he quickly gave me the number, saying Oh, thats weird, hmm BEWARE!!!

Could not ask for better service and results. They know the value of great customer service and it shows. Im pleased to be doing business with All Around Automotive and would recommend them to anyone.

Every interaction Ive had with All Around Automotive has been extremely pleasant, professional, and positive. From the most minor repair (headlight replacement), to an oil change and tire inspection, the All Around Automotive team has been excellent. They are honest, reliable, and a pleasure to work with. I moved to Portland a year ago and am a young college aged female with out of state plates, so when I began having problems with my car I was very apprehensive who to go to because I was concerned about taking advantage of, something that people tried to pull on me back in my home state. All Around Automotive was recommended to me by a classmate, so I decided to try them and I was blown away by their service. Not only were they able to fit me in quickly (the following day) they inspected the engine compartment as a courtesy and found other problems that I was unaware of. They called me back later that day and let me know what they found, in addition to my initial problem, and were very thorough about explaining the problems to me without being condescending (an issue Ive had in the past with other mechanics). They were never pushy about making the additional repairs and left the choice up to me. And due to the age of the car, the mileage and being the third owner the problems they found were realistic and not made up to get extra money and made total sense as it was problems that would have never been dealt with. I talked with both James and Justin who were both very kind and straight forward along with being very patient with me and not pushing for an answer on the spot. While I spent significantly more than anticipated, (just due to all what had to be done on my car) the prices were very fair and honest for the amount of work that had to be done (aka I was not overcharged). I cant say enough positive things about them, I will be returning in the future for any car problems and routine maintenance.

4.5 stars! What! These guys deserve nothing but 5 stars. My wife and I stumbled upon them accidentally while in Portland, and now drive all the way from Hood River just to make sure we have the most honest and reliable mechanics we know, working on our cars.

I recently got my transmission worked on at a different mechanic in a different state and left with recurring issues in the transmission and brakes that my previous mechanic couldnt fix. So I brought my car to All Around Automotive asking for an oil change and also explained the problems I kept having expecting them to look but have no answer for me like the other mechanics. However All Around Automotive was able to locate the problem and I have had zero troubles since. They were extremely communicative and friendly and I feel so grateful to have found them considering I drive a Volvo and not many mechanics are able to work on it.Highly, highly recommend them for regular maintenance requirements and also for the tough stuff.Thank you so much!!

If you’re looking for the cheapest place to get your car fixed, this is not it, because they are not going to throw cheap parts in your car, and the mechanics are skilled at their trade. 10/10 would recommend this if you are serious about car maintenance and repair.
