Id like to take a moment to thank Lisa G., store manager at the Pioneer Square location in Portland, Oregon. I had an issue regarding an online order and when I sent emails to customer service, she immediately contacted me and made things right - within 30 minutes my order was taken care of and a tracking number sent my way. Highly recommend ordering directly from their store, even if youre not in the same location - I am in Alaska but will buy directly from her location from now on.
This is hands down the best haircut Ive EVER had. Call and ask for Bridget, she has the attention to detail other barbers in Portland lack. Every time I walk out I feel confident and amazing. Sure Ive had good haircuts elsewhere, but never have I left a barber feeling like Im ready to take on the freakin world! I cannot recommend enough.
Walked in feeling skeptical but walked out with a new shaving kit. Forrest was extremely knowledgeable about the products and the process, explaining in detail such fine points as the origin of the fragrances, the differences between blades, and what happens when you use a shaving brush. The final selling point for me was the live demo on the back of my hand leaving a soft, supple tone. I will be back!
They are extremely helpful in showing you how to create the perfect shave. They have great products but are a little spendy... The quality of their products and the customer service speaks for itself. This place is top notch
I had an enjoyable experience getting to know the products at The Art of Shaving. They have really nice straight razors ranging $55-200 and +. The oil before shave is really nice 👍🏼
My first time for a straight razor shave. I will definitely be coming back. Bridget is amazing!
Just look at some of the other one star reviews and you can tell that theyre more informed and knowledgeable people. The patsies rating five are dumbstruck idiots who dont know value. Its true they dont know what theyre doing and are just trying to take as much $$$ from ignorant people as possible, I spent couple bills on shaving supplies I later found I could get for less than $fifty$. I will not be seeing their barber.
Went to return an unopened item that my wife had picked up for me. Packaging was in pristine condition, and I had the sales receipt. They would not take the return, saying that my wife had to do it. So my wife has to take part of her Saturday to make a special trip to satisfy their absurd policy. I absolutely will not be patronizing them again.
I wouldnt say this is the worst cut Ive had, but it definitely was in the top five. I asked for a 1.5 fade on the sides and finger-length scissors on the top. The barber started on the sides but then completely forgot to do anything on the top. Then moved down to my beard, which he somehow managed to take a giant chunk out of and I didnt notice until I got home (I had to fix it myself). Tried to tell me he was done, before I reminded him to finish the rest of my hair. Uh... Hello? NOT worth the ridiculous amount of $65 I paid.Do yourself a favor and find yourself a better barber for a third of the price.
From the time I stepped into art of shaving downtown Portland I was welcomed by friendly staff.I was early for my appointment they helped me look through products. Brian the barber was very knowledgeable and efficient I will definitely be going back for more line ups and haircuts.
Amazingly helpful staff. They answered all my questions educated me on different choices, and helped me pick the perfect gift.
Very friendly salesperson. Let me get a feel for the different safety razors so I could pick something with a grip I was comfortable with, and showed how the three-piece razors work (Ive only ever used a one-piece). Also gave a demo of their cream and pre-shave oil. Talked me up for a trial-size kit as well, but it came with a $25 off coupon for the larger kit.
Did not feel welcomed and found prices to be extravagant for shaving materials you could easily find one street over for a fraction of the cost.Often felt as if the employees held a mightier then thou vibe which made me feel small and ultimately crushed my spirit to buy.
My wife purchased a Royal Shave for me for Christmas. I had my appointment on 12/26 with Hanif and had a great experience. It was a very relaxing, and I would recommend it to anyone.
I´ve been buying their products for quite a long time and their sensitive shaving line for men is one of the best in the market. Their masks are also top notch. I´ve also come here for a haircut (twice) and the master barber, apart from being a real character, has done a brilliant job.
Called to make an appointment for a shave and the person on the phone gave me attitude about how they dont have a barber and arent accepting appointments. Like I should have known that when they advertise that they offer exactly that - barber shaves.Ridiculous and horrible customer service to boot.
My first experience with a straight-razor shave and I was pleased.Aside from the important aspect of actually being happy with the shave and the experience, Hanif was a pretty awesome guy to get to know. Great conversation beats awkward silence while getting more handsome. I appreciated that he explained the process as it was happening (i.e. what products he was using on me and what their purpose was). They also do hair cuts and Im interested to know their level of service in that department. There is, of course, the retail front as well. In my opinion, their products are ridiculously overpriced (who in the world needs a $200 razor?!) but this reviews is dedicated more for the shaving experience itself.
Super legitmate barber shop! The barber that cuts my hair is Bryan Neyman. Real good at his craft. Professional service and quality work! Real nice experience, the name says it all...Art of Shaving. They also offer a variety of razors, bread oils, and all thinigs shaving related. Little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Quality cuts and shaves. Check it out, you wont be disappointed with the results!
A quality shave. Something that must be experienced.
I bought a straight razor from their store at washington square mall. Bought $500 worth of gear and I found out months later from the store that the straight razor needed to be sharpened before use, contrary to what the saleswoman told me.That is art of shaving for you, they sell me a straight razor that is COMPLETELY dull! This is the first company that screwed me this bad. NEVER buy anything from them, they lie and cheat their customers to sell them useless products.
I went to this place two days in a row to get a hair cut and both days they are open but did not have a barber available. Kinda confused but whatever.
Friendly staff and barber shop in the back
Bridget is legit
Annoying salespeople and overpriced.
