The auto repair industry is riddled with charlatans and its the unfortunate fact, especially for those with little automotive education, that people often get charged significantly more than whats fair for a particular service. And given that the demand is so high, and that the supply is so low, mechanics often get to charge whatever they want and wont lose their clients. This reality bears zero semblance of how I was treated at Pearl Auto. Their team got me in within 2 days of making the initial call, by the end of the day they had gotten the diagnosis, and by the following morning my car was ready for pick up. The service, which I was expecting to cost around 1200$, left me out only 300$. This is in addition to them realigning my timing chain at no extra cost. 20 minutes after I got home I got a call from the shop stating that on my way out they heard my car squealing. They then informed me that my serpentine belt is likely loose and that it needs tightening. This was not done as a ploy to get more money out of me, this was done because they truly care about going above and beyond to give good and honest labor to their customers. I would 10/10 recommend this shop to anyone with vehicle impropriety. One quick caveat is that i believe they only service Asian vehicles. Things like Toyota, Honda, Subaru, etc. Make sure that you have a brand that they will service before heading in.

Great service. My catalytic converter was stolen. He was very empathetic and got it fixed immed, even gave a great discount because of the unfortunate circumstances. Amazing experience!

This place is what you need when you have an issue with your car. Watt and the crew were upfront an honest about what I needed to do and it was not a sales pitch. I have had bad experiences with mechanics in the past, pearl auto is the opposite, I felt I was treated with respect and the service was above and beyond what I expected. If you have an issue or concern this is the place to go for an honest opinion or recommendation.

I highly recommend taking your car to Pearl Auto Shop. Ive been taking my 09 Honda here for a few years (timing belt, engine issues, oil changes). They are honest, quick and care about your car and business. Most recently my car broke down and I had to take it to a closer shop to my home, they tried to charge me $1200 for a tune up, I called Wit at Pearl and he told me what I needed and didnt and how much it would cost. I got the issue fixed and had Pearl auto take a closer look. Next time Ill take the tow charge and take it directly to them. If you are looking for an honest and dependable shop, take it to Pearl Auto!

I was able to get a same-day appointment for an electrical issue with my old Subaru. They quickly identified the problem and repaired our car by that afternoon. The price was fair, service was friendly, and well be using Pearl Auto Repair exclusively going forward. Excellent experience, definitely recommend.

Been going here for years and years for my Subaru Forester after I bought it from a private seller who had been taking it here (when it was No 1 Japanese) and Witt and the team have been nothing but wonderful. I took my car in and instead of charging me for the time of driving it and trying to figure what was wrong he told me to use the money instead to get a new car (it is time to move on!). This isn’t the first time I haven’t been charged or amounts were reduced either. Got a life long customer with me for as long as I’m in the Portland area!

The staff was so friendly! I took my Corolla in because I needed an exhaust repair. Despite being booked out a week, they took my car in, spent 10 minutes confirming the problem, and then told me that they could replace the exhaust system, but that an exhaust / brake repair place that does welding could do the repairs for much cheaper and sent me on my merry way. Theyve definitely earned my trust, and Ill be sure to look there first if I ever have another issue.

I went to Pearl Auto for a few specific needs and they totally delivered. I dropped the truck off on my way to work and they called midday to tell me it was all set. On arrival to pick it up, Witt quickly got my paperwork ready and checked me out efficiently. The best part was that he didnt give me the laundry list of other things that needed to be fixed on my perfectly functioning vehicle. They seemed honest and the pricing was fair. I will absolutely be using Pearl Auto for my vehicle needs going forward!

Some housing blew while visiting Portland afternoon Friday and they took us in and got us back on the road same day even though they normally only take Asian makes (we have a Volvo). Quick, friendly, and really honest about everything. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone. He really saved us in a pinch!

Rude and unprofessional. Came in for an inspection of my 2015 Toyota Tundra, they asked me if it was flooded, I said no, based on my experience with working with cars all my life. The guy, unfortunately did not get his name, called me a “liar”. I asked him to lift up the car and check it out, but he said he would even touch it!ABSOLUTELY disturbing treatment! I DO NOT recommend this shop to anybody!

Witt and Pearl Auto Service were extremely accommodating and helped me out of a last minute jam. I happened to be in NW when a hose snapped from my cooling system and despite the make/model, Witt had me bring my car in and 2 hours later, had me up and running. They were reasonably priced and I was fortunate they had the time to get me fixed up.

I took my Hybrid Honda Camry to Pearl Auto Service for its regular 45K miles maintenance check. They didnt try to up-sell me anything I didnt need, just gave my car a thorough inspection to make sure it was in good shape and did a routine oil/filter change. Its great to have a mechanic I can trust, and the place looks great under the new ownership. Ill be back. Thank you!

Well be going back to Pearl Auto Service. On our first visit Witt and crew replaced brake pads at an extremely fair price. They also did a full inspection without being asked, leaving us confident that the car is in good shape until the next oil change or etc.It is nice to deal with an old-fashioned garage with personal service - Ive had enough of dealer shenanigans and techs who just dont care at the large chains. Highly recommended.

I had the alternator on my Nissan fail as I was trying to leave for an extended camping trip. I called Bill at 7:30 am and he said bring it straight in. I did and was on the road well before lunch.I have referred several people since this visit and have only heard praise for Bill and his guys. I would send anyone with an Asian vehicle here.Update: I liked the place so much I bought it.

I took my Honda Fit in for regular service and to check out an unusual noise. Witt was friendly and professional, and later in the day he thoroughly went through the bill and what they had done, explaining everything. I was very happy with the whole experience!

This place is great. I have had three cars serviced there for years. The owner, Bill, is friendly, honest, the rates are fair, the mechanics very competent and quick. He never tries to add unnecessary work. I have had several occasions over the years when tire companies or alignment shops have told me I needed break work, new shocks, etc. When I asked Bill to verify, he has said the work is not needed. He does not even offer to do it for less. I would never have anyone else work on my cars.

Stopped using them when I realized they were quoting me the same prices that the dealer quotes, and sometimes even higher.If Im going to pay dealership prices, I would rather have the dealership do it.

These guys are great! I had an oil leak and I was afraid it might be a serious issue. Turns out i failed to tighten some bolts on my valve cover so they tightened em up and I was good to go. I tried to pay them for their time but they wouldnt take it. I highly recommend you try them out the next time your vehicle needs service.

Honest fast service and good value, pretty much everything you want from a mechanic. I called a day in advance and had full brake job complete following afternoon. I will def use them again on the Subaru

Had a head gasket replaced. Great service at a good price. Came from another shop who wanted me to replace the motor. Pearl Auto waved the diagnostics fee and also replaced my radiator fan without charging labor.

I can definitely see they had the best reviews for a reason! They listened to me, they fixed my problem in just a few hours, and they charged me a super affordable price! My car has been silent for the last few days since I took it in (I waited to write my review until I knew for sure!), and I am so grateful. Will be using their services again.

If you have a Japanese car, go here first. I have brought my 1989 Honda Civic Wagon to these guys for work under two different owners. The honesty, generosity, and good work ethic of their management and technicians is matched only by their knowledge of the vehicles specifications. They get it done right the first time.

I just had the most informative and helpful conversation with an automotive shop in my entire life. Although I have not brought my 05 Mazda 6 in for a (Unfortunately expensive) head gasket job yet, just based on the level of service and by far best price bracket these guys are at the top of my list.

I recently found this place after looking through many auto repair companies and found that this looked really good and my car needed to be looked at so I called and he scheduled me in between appointments made that day which was very kind. I dropped off my car thinking I had a simple issue needing fixed and he ended up fixing some direly needed stuff which included brakes which made sense considering what I had been experiencing lately. So I am grateful for that. He also went out of his way to explain how specific stuff worked for me and that shows me how sincere he is. Although the cost pained me (like any auto repair) I greatly appreciate his and his teams help. And even more awesome and kind is the fact that not even a day later I was dumb and didnt realize that gas in the winter time (due to my gas gauge being broken) runs out faster so I got to experience running out of gas and I called him and he sent someone with a gallon so I could get to a gas station. These guys are awesome you should go here for any of your mechanic needs.

Been there over half a dozen times for regular maintenance on my 99 Honda which has over 200,000 miles. Always treated right and fair. You can trust this place not to rip you off which is a concern whenever you are looking for an honest mechanic, and these people are honest. Bill, the owner I believe his name is, always has been there to sit down and talk about the repairs. Once I thought I needed new brakes but it turned out to just be a rear brake pad that worn out, saving me hundreds. I will always bring my japanese autos there for repair and maintenance.

We used this repair shop for our minivan a few times. The owner kept telling us that we essentially had a piece of junk and should buy a Toyota Sienna. Our problem with a recurring engine light never got fixed. We now drive a Toyota Sienna but have it serviced somewhere else.
