While pricing here is high, it’s not as high as stores downtown. they have a wonderful origami and gifts section and probably almost anything else you could bet looking for in a craft/art supplies store. The people that work here are great; there’s a lot of fantastic stuff for kids. check out my last haul.

Although Ive lived 2 blocks away for several years now, today was my first time in the store. I knew what I was looking for and could have been in and out in a few minutes, but decided to get a feel for the place. Theres a broad selection of supplies and prices seem reasonable compared to the big box craft stores. The staff were very friendly and helpful for those looking for help.

My kid is an artist so they know exactly what they need. If they cant find it, they ask one of the knowledgeable employees who helps them find what they need from among the vast selection of fine art supplies. I am not an artist, so I entertain myself while the kid shops for Serious Art Supplies by looking at the cards, fun toys and craft kits. This is a wonderful place to get lost in while getting inspired!

This store is worth knowing about. They stock the hard-to-find Blackwing and Baron Fig brands, as well as Leuchtturm and Moleskine products. I just bumped this up from four to five stars -- the Portland stationery scene is competitive, but they are having a great 20 percent off sale on many of the aforementioned journals August through October 2019!

My go to art store for when I want to try something new. Recently I got the bug to try watercolor and they had everything from starter kits to the high end paints and brushes. It also helps that everyone there seems to really know the store and were able to guide me to what I might actually need as a beginner. A really great place for aspiring and seasoned artists alike.

Amazing selection of all aspects of art materials. Competitive pricing and great service. I asked for a certain product and they showed me their stock. I picked out what I needed but mentioned another color I wanted. Within minutes it had been ordered from their warehouse or a different store. Amazing service, I literally have no reason to go to another art supply store.

My head was spinning. The isles are slanted and of different depths. The sections are scattered. I get making people search for stuff and in the process they purchase more things out of impulse but, I could not easily find what was on my list. It’s a cute store and has so much, I just struggled to find my way around.

Even though I’ve been here many times and bought tons of supplies, I don’t think I’ll ever come back. Every time I shop the employees follow me around. At first I thought it was a coincidence but after multiple incidents I realize it was very intentional.

Buyer beware! Unlike most art supply stores who allow you to get a full replacement, exchange or refund if you are not completely satisfied with the quality of the merchandise that they sell, Artist & Craftsman Supply does not practice this! I do give the store some credit for being clean, organized and for having a great variety of products however their customer service definitely leaves a lot to be desired. The first time I came into this shop the employees behind the register barely even acknowledged me and just stood there socializing. I ended up buying a really lousy tube of acrylic paint. My second time coming in was to exchange that very same paint for something of better quality and luckily this time around the employee that assisted me was very attentive, polite and honest with his suggestions. When I asked if I could exchange it for something else he asked his supervisor and was told that I could only exchange it if it was defective. How much more defective does a bad tube of paint have to be to get an exchange?! I would have understood this decision if I wanted a cash refund and didnt have the proof of purchase but this was an exchange for a product that was barely used. Whoever the supervisor was told the employee to offer me a 10% discount for the replacement paint that I purchased but I got to admit that my experiences there havent been all that welcoming. I dont think Ill be going to this art supply store again. :-(

This placed opened up in my old neighborhood right after I moved away and I am so jealous. Great selection, decent prices. Heavy on fine art but a very decent craft selection as well. The people working there are very helpful and friendly.

Friendly, educated staff. Covid-19 has hit their stock. I I was not thrilled to find very little of what I seek. ( Procion mx dye) generally I am pleased with this store and it is easily accessed. Overall experience I would give Artist & Craftsman Supply a strong 4⭐ rating. Try it out. Youll see.

First off, this is not a craft store, its an artist supply. Dont go here expecting loft of craft options. They carry quality brands at inflated prices, shop the sales though and youll get great deals.The staff were much nicer and more helpful when they first opened, now they are about the same level of helpful that I would expect from a corner store: theres normally one clerk and theyll help begrudgingly if you ask for it. Not super friendly but not overtly rude either.Its nothing to go out of your way for, but if you live in the neighborhood its worth checking out.

This is a great place for general craft supplies. Parking was easy and they have a vast assortment of hobby stuff. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices are lower than expected.

Greatest art store I have ever been in! Friendly staff, convenient location, and amazing selection. They sell GOLDEN brand paints, which I’m obsessed with after trying. Along with art supplies, they also have an impressive selection of unique gifts and random things. Also, there is always something on sale you use, and they rotate their sales to cover a variety of art supplies. Customer for life!

Dont bother shopping anywhere else in Portland for art and crafting supplies. Their selection is incredible and their prices are always competitive. Go just for the service because everyone there is kind, knowledgeable and eager to help. Support local business!

This place has just about every art related thing you could want, plus stuff you may have never thought of. Everywhere you look in this store, every shelf and every wall has well priced art supplies. If you dont know where to look, the staff here are extremely helpful and friendly, making shopping here even more of a delight.

A jewel of an art store in the north. Its filled with only supplies and nothing else. They have a little bit of everything. They even have large frames/ canvas rolls in the back of the store. If you are in the north, dont go-to the big chains. Support this little store!

I absolutely love this store ❤️. First, the sales people are terrific and very knowledgeable about art supplies. Second, the prices are reasonable, not too expensive. Third, they carry Amsterdam paints, my favorite. Fourth, its right off the 75 and 33 bus stop which is perfect for me.

I really like this store. Its not comprehensive but for the size it packs in a lot, especially the essentials for almost any interest: pen and ink; crafts; papers of all kinds; books; painting; screen printing; paints for ceramics, glass, and other surfaces; journals; and so on. The staff are friendly and helpful and the chain generally keeps their prices lower.

This store is an asset to North Portland. Great place to get all sorts of art supplies for professional artists to the person who has an urge to get crafty. Oils and acrylics, resin, crayon, pencil, pastels, inks, some yarn, beads and a even creative gifts and toys for youngsters.

This place is great. Reasonable prices for art supplies and such a great selection on a wide range of art needs. If they dont have it in, theyll order it for you too. The staff is very helpful and takes all questions, no matter how minor, seriously (I know because I do alot of kid crafts). Also great supporters of the community, especially schools. Yeah for them!

My kids love to get their new notebooks here. The colorful murals are a huge plus and access to King Burrito makes this an easy afternoon outing.

The selection of paints and brushes is huge. They have dyes, mediums, pigments, inks, and paints in a variety of colors, styles, and manufacturers. If youre looking for any kind of artist medium, canvas, brush, or other general supplies, I highly recommend checking this place out before going to a craft or hobbyist store.

Love this place. The thing I dont like is being followed around the store while I look at markers like Im gonna steal. Even though I come in a handful of times per month and spend alot of money here.

If youre an artist, this place is heaven! I dabble on some artsy projects so I love stores like these. They have a huge variety of canvases, painting supplies, and every kind of marker you can think of. They have an amazing group of people that go out of their way to help.

A little higher priced, but you get what you pay for. I can spend hours in this place. The staff is very helpful, and they have suck a wide variety of products that your imagination is your only limit.

Went here to support a local business! The male clerk seemed kind of clueless but was able to get someone else to help, and she knew her stuff! She had knowledge of things that werent even part of the stores stock and recommended the closest she had, which we did buy! $30 less that I had budgeted as a bonus! I looked at their store and then had a nice variety of other supplies and other obscure things as well.

I am so grateful to have this art store in N. Portland. I have had nothing but great experiences at this store. The selection of art supplies is awesome! They even stock a lot of items that Dick Blick only has available online. So far their prices are better as well. They dont offer coupons, but coupons arent needed because they dont mark up prices above retail like other retailers do. The sales people are always warm, welcoming, and super helpful. When I had a question about using a product in a somewhat unusual application, the salesperson got on the phone directly with the manufacturer to verify that I could safely use the product in the way I was planning and to find out more information about it. Businesses come and go frequently in N. Portland, so I hope that our community supports this business because its stores like this that improve our neighborhood for the better.

I love having an art store around the corner from me. And luckily for me, Artist and Craftsman has so many options for all types of art. I visit for papers, tracing paper, poster board, spray paint, pens, coloring books-just to name a few. Staff is always kind and courteous.

I’ve never lived near such a great art supply store before, and when I discovered this was close to my new house I was thrilled. They have a lot of variety to choose from, plenty of high quality options, good sales, and a parking lot.

I am sure I have written at least 3 reviews of this place by now. I just love it. From the first time I stepped foot in the Chicago location on, I have loved artist and craftsman for its variety of products, its multitude of media, the number of things I wouldnt or couldnt find at blick or Jerrys but I would find there and the people as well as the fact that it is employee owned. There is almost nothing about this place I dont like. The website is horrendous and aggravating, but the store itself is a hidden gem. If there is one near you go check it out. Friendly people, a multitude of supplies to play with and good prices.
