One of the best art supply stores I have ever seen!! The prices are incredible and they support SO MANY mediums. They supply top quality brands in such a wide range of products. They also have amazing sales, which is usually when I stock up on supplies. I enjoy shopping here sometimes to even gather inspiration. Staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful, you can tell they love working here. Tons of cute gift items too for artists of all ages.

Honestly this is an excellent art supply store and local and I wanted to love it. But I have shopped here probably 10+ times with the same experience: none of the employees seem happy, interested in helping me or knowledgeable about whatever I’m looking for. I’m a crafty person, always looking to do new projects and almost always a novice in whatever new thing I’m trying and I’ve asked many different employees about many different topics and no one ever seems to know the answer to any of my (pretty basic) questions. It’s honestly weird and makes me assume that there is something happening behind the scenes that would lead to these people so clearly unsatisfied with their jobs. Or maybe I’m just as annoying as they make me feel (something I’ve never experienced at any other art supply store??? But definitely in the realm of possible realities)

I love this place! It has unique stuff like no other. Its small but provides good quality craft supplies. And they have onion paper that I needed for my typewriter that no other place had.

Highly recommended. They have a great selection and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I usually leave with more than I came for because they have so many goodies.

How have I not known about this 5-year-old retail gem until now?? I was like a kid in a candy shop, willing to squander my life savings on the gorgeous Japanese and South Asian handmade paper they have in stock. This is a fantastic art supply store. Its a bit off the beaten path in southeast PDX, but once you find it, you wont go to another shop! Theyve got everything you need - even stonecarving tools! Do you know how hard it is to find those in town? Plenty of gifts for the artists in your family around the holidays. Competitive prices and friendly staff.

They have everything! I couldnt believe how much they have packed in a small small, yet it didnt feel overwhelming and everything was nearly organized. They gave great advice to get me started in an affordable way on my brand new acrylic paint journey. They also take safety during covid extremely seriously so you can feel really safe going there.

Ive spent a fortune in this place. Theyre begrudgingly friendly, and will always help if you ask. Typically have good product knowledge. Whoever stocks their painting supplies should consider that support frames for large canvases are a critical component to large canvasses.

This place is great. Cute little shop with all kinds of different stuff. You can just walk around and check sales for anything you might be interested in trying that you havent ever tried before. The location is conveniently right off Powell. Parking is tight but its never been so tight that Ive not been able to find somewhere to park.

Love coming here to browse. The prices are decent, with all ranges and lots of sale prices. They some how manage to fit a bit of everything in this space and the staff are super helpful. The only reason I give them a 4 star is because it always feels like the staff views every customer as a suspicious shoplifter. Never not felt hella watched in here.

Great selection. Good value. Courteous and knowledgeable staff. Covid protocols are vigorous and demonstrated. It is in a decent central location to the greater Portland area. I found it worth the drive from the Milwaukie area. Do not expect the staff to give art lessons. That is extra. Lol

The staff here isnt always the most approachable but the selection is great for a city store. I always have fun just wandering the aisles coming up with new projects. This location is near where I work so its my first thought when I need something besides office supplies.

Pretty good selection and generally decent prices. A few items are painfully overpriced with no cheaper alternative, so if your on a budget then you may need to make a second stop somewhere for certain supplies

Tons of paint! Huge selection of canvases of all kinds. The place to go to gift shop for the artist in your life. Lots of cool stuff. My only request and suggestion is please expand the wax stamp selection. I love that you have the whole alfabet in stock, but if your stamps and wax selection were more diverse I would def come to your store to buy it instead of ordering it online. Plan on spending some time here; theres lots to see!

They have almost everything a painter could need. They have good rules for navigating their store during this pandemic and limit the number of shoppers to help with compliance.

Includes pro quality paints, brushes, printing ink and hardware, as well as student quality and plenty of artsy stuff for children. A very large selection of journals, watercolor papers, etc, and a lot of absolutely gorgeous Japanese-style decorated paper available by the sheet. Noodlers inks if youre into fountain pens and calligraphy. Beads and supplies. Leather and supplies. Basically, if they dont carry it, youll have to order online whatever it is that youre looking for. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. A highly recommended place to look for art supplies-and at a discount, too!

I always try to visit Artists & Craftsman whenever I’m in a city that has one. My local location is in Seattle, but Portland’s is its own version of A&C. Everything you can think of, they have it. I loved the local hardwood charcoal.

Amazing variety of just about any kind of art supply you could possibly want. Fantastic prices--most discounted by at least 50%, and many up to 75%. The staff area friendly and knowledgeable about the supplies they carry, with useful info about uses, and ideas for inspiration to get your creative juices flowing. To say that we love it there is an understatement! The only thing I would love to see them add is letterpress ink for my husband. He does his printing the old fashioned way, and none of the large variety of inks or paints they carry are suitable for the vintage/antique metal presses and fonts that he owns.Still n all, its a great art supply store, and we heartily recommend it to any creative people out there.

This shop is beautifully curated and has lovely staff! While I can sometimes find the layout a little overwhelming, I also usually find something I wasnt looking for that I enjoy and end up buying. Theyve always got a good sale going, and I love helping support a local business! I highly recommend wandering in when you have a free hour and see if theres a fun hobby you can start! Mine is watercolors :)

I discovered this store in Chicago and fell in love. If you are an art experimenter, you need this place in your life. Blick is a staple - excellent, necessary, you will find things here you do not see at blick. I always go to both because they have different but similar inventory.

I had to drive for this, and it was wholly worth it. Best place Ive found for fountain pen stuff in town, and they have a lot of Noodlers pens and ink! They definitely lean heavy towards calligraphy pens but they have normal fountain stuff as well.I dont do painting but they had a huge selection of all different kinds of stuff, including not only paints and equipment, but lots of stuff to paint on as well - canvases and art notebooks galore.

THEY.HAVE.EVERYTHING!!! I had to leave a breadcrumb crumb trail to get out, because I got lost in the wonder of everything they have!! Love this place and for sure I tell all my cohorts about them as well!!

This store is the greatest artist supply store in the city. Montana, the manager is a definite lightworker and loves her shop. One woman works for the bad guys as a seed. Its quite easy to spot this dark haired sorceress, so I just recommend staying away from her. Otherwise, the rest of the girls are amazing and know an insurmountable bit of knowledge about their products and art.
