Stayed in Shadyside while visiting child at Pitt. This place was walkable from our Airbnb on S. Aiken. Kid had a sweet crepe, husband had Walnut Street French Toast and I had the Avocado toast. Everything was excellent! Had a hot chocolate mocha that was truly one of the best Ive ever had. Cant wait for my next visit to Pittsburgh. Cafe Moulin will definitely be on the agenda! Recommend going early (we were there at about 9:15 am - there was a wait for a table when we left.)
Such a nice atmosphere with great food! The crepes seemed a little expensive when we ordered, but they were totally worth it when we tasted them! I got the chocolate dream with kinder bueno, and my husband got the Alaska one with salmon. The people working were friendly too! If I lived in Pittsburgh, I’d probably treat myself with these delicious crepes all the time! The place was empty when I took the pictures, but they were pretty full only a few minutes later. I will definitely come back the next time I am in town!
The food is still top of notch. I was a regular, I usually come on weekend with bunch of friends. The Female Servers was always friendly. Today, We came, on Wednesday, Party of Two for brunch . Earlier, The Server was a guy, he was great and very efficient. Then later, while I was eating, A Female Server want give my check. I thought to myself, wow, so rude. I say I am still eating. When I asking for the check later. The same female server was rude, nasty and, slam things every time I ask for something. I spend $52.99 included 13% tips instead my usually give 15%-20% tips. The sad things is that there was only 4-5 tables included us. The Female Server was spend more time on the phone then wait on all of us. She act like did not want to be bother. By this time now I fell I wasted my money. Next time I am going somewhere instead of here. Too bad. I hangout at Shadyside all the time.
Definitely would recommend this place for sure! Its really cute when you first walk in kinda gives a artsy feel ...get the coffee they also have almond milk too ! 😁 and the crepes looked so good I got French toast when I went and it was really good they do it on a Brioche bread you wont be disappointed lol only complaint I would say are their eggs they really just have no taste
By far one of my favorite brunch places in Pittsburgh. They have breakfast crepes that are well executed and delicious. The speed service is okay as the restaurant can get busy. The coffee is solid though there arent a lot of espresso drinks.Overall, highly recommend!
Waitresses were nice, attentive, well mannered. Restaurant was clean, food was fresh. Only complaint if there is any is there isnt much space for those dining
Delicious menu. Everything we had was great. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy inside... They offer outdoor seating on the sidewalk.Theres public parking right nearby at a cost or roll the dice and hit the side streets for free option. The service was good and pleasant. Seems to be a hot spot among young professionals... The entire neighborhood seems to be full of them so that makes sense. The indoor seating can be a little bit loud due to the acoustics and the kitchen being essentially open to the dining room.Very pleased with our visit.
The first time I came I didn’t have a great experience. But the owner was very kind about the situation and made it better. We went back again and it was wonderful. Would definitely recommend!
LOVED it‼️ Very eclectic is collectic and great food‼️
Great breakfast spot. They have a few outside tables and the inside is very nice. I love their menu and will be beach to try more.
The food was great! However, it was hard for us to relax during our brunch. Busy time on weekends and you can feel how staff is waiting for you to finish your food and free up the space asap :)
Great food. if you don’t understand that there’s gonna be a wait at peak hours, that’s on you, not the servers.
Very American and sweet crepes, even the savory ones. :( Very sad. Portions are big, coffee is okayish, service is trying to be great. Chairs are mostly metal and quite uncomfortable.
Went here for brunch and was underwhelmed. This was the second chance I gave this cafe after having been initially disappointed. While their orange juice is freshly squeezed and their lattes are delicious, their crepes are subpar. I asked for an egg on mine, expecting a traditional Parisienne style sunny-side up. Unfortunately, I got a thick, folded, spongy egg that failed to elevate the crepe beyond a folded pancake. If you’re looking for a well made crepe, I recommend you check out Crepes Parisienne on Craig st instead!
A cute mid-size cafe for a Sunday Brunch. I cant remember the exact name of each dish except what is in itTop - Toast with eggs and avocado, vegetarian dishMiddle - dark chocolate with raspberry crepesBottom - Alaska crepeDish prices are between $10 - $15. Its not too pricey. And the plates will fill you up. You wont feel sluggish when you are finished with your meal.
The waiting time the waitress told us is BARELY correct! And we wait for extra half an hour for take out after she told us we cannot have the table. TOTALLY a waist of time! Will not come again👎🏻
Unfortunate Disappointment: My son and his girlfriend (both Pitt students) were excited to take our family to Café Moulin for breakfast yesterday. Knowing there were steps to enter and that I use a wheelchair, my son was not concerned at all since there are generally tables outside as seen in their picture. It was a beautiful sunny day and we arrived anxious to sample the delicious food they had been telling us about. Interestingly, there was only one table outside with one chair. My son and his girlfriend went inside and explained that our family of six would like to eat outside. The friendly server begged their pardon and stated that he was unable to set up any tables outside. The server seemed very uncomfortable and it became obvious why when my son inquired with the owner about tables. The owner apparently was quite nasty exclaiming that he had no time to put up tables. My son further explained that one of the guests was in a wheelchair and could not come inside. The owner escalated and just got nastier. My sons girlfriend asked politely if he understood that he was obliged to make a reasonable accommodation at which point the owner dismissed them both and walked away. This certainly doesnt make their food bad, we just thought you should know.
Best breakfast spot in all of Pittsburgh! Been coming back for 6 years (since they old spot downstairs).
Loved this place. So good to see outside seating area. We took our dog with us, outside are made us enjoy our breakfast. I ordered Amsterdam french toast - was delicious, good portion size. This place should not be missed if you are in the area.
We had the Sofia crepe, cheesecake crepe and french toast and all of them tasted delicious. Especially the Sofia crepe with avocado and the special sauce they apply on top is a Must at this place. Staff were attentive and the vibe is cool. Highly recommend this place.
Great brunch. Many unique dishes...ours were delicious
Absolutely fantastic food, both the sweet and savory stuff are fantastic. Every time I order something new Im pleasantly surprised by the portion size and how delicious the food is. One of the best places for breakfast in the whole city of Pittsburgh!
We moved to Pittsburgh about a month ago. One morning I woke up thinking, we really havent found a go-to breakfast spot yet. Then that same morning we by chance walked past Cafe Moulin and decided to sit down outside with our puppy. And let me tell you it was like fate, we found our new breakfast spot! Not only was my omelet crepe (which I didnt know was a thing) absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic! Our server was adorably charming, and the rest of the staff was friendly as well! We will be back to try their french toast, I have no doubt!P.S. the omelet crepe was the Marseille. My gf insisted I tell yall which one it was so you can get it if you want. She said she hates it when people dont say what they got in the reviews. :o
This place bland as hell. My crepe tasted like nothing. The breakfast side is a…..salad
Magnifique!! A bit of a wait but worth it! Crepes homemade and scrumptious! Staff lead by Jakeb are gentle, knowledgeable and appreciated. Bonus score: Tech Updated and clean restroom.
Delicious lattes and crepes and great variety to menu! Restaurant was packed but everything was efficient and the wait wasn’t that long.
We try to get brunch on Sundays and this is one of our go to spots. Great food and wonderful service.
The food was absolutely delicious!! All the options for gluten free & vegan. The vibe was so cute too.
I had Nutella’s crepe was good, and vanilla latte was the best 😫♥️♥️♥️♥️
Had the Barcelona french toast. Cheesy and sweet! Lovely atmosphere, good coffee, good food, excellent service! Everyone was very nice and prices were very reasonable. Lovely place for brunch!
Food was great, but service could use some work.We walked in for the first time and there was no indication as to whether you sit yourself or wait to be seated. After being ignored for about ten minutes we sat at an empty table. Then the waitress shows up and ask is if were on the list. What list? I say. Then she just walks away.Eventually she comes back with two menus. We ordered, the wait times were reasonable and everything was fine after that. The food was actually pretty good.Maybe we came when they were understaffed. There were only two people working the tables and the place was pretty busy. Maybe its not like that normally. It was our first time here.
Best breakfast in Shadyside. Try their Sofia or Amsterdam breakfast. The iced white mocha is amazing
I used to go here and loved it. I then came with my boyfriends family, whose father is in a wheelchair, and they REFUSED to accommodate him by bringing a table outside. There was no way to enter the restaurant in a wheelchair and when I mentioned it was illegal to not accommodate a person with disabilities, he responded and said that I was being illegal for talking to him disrespectfully. I will never ever recommend this restaurant again with and will be reporting them in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Extremely disappointing.
Fair.Food: 4 stars. Too sweet, but delicious.Service: 3 stars. Two only. There are so many things to do, and they are overburdened. We seat for a long time waiting for them.Environment: 3 stars. The noise from open kitchen is annoying, and you can clearly hear other people’s conversations. For people who want to enjoy their time, it’s not a good place.
Life-changing crepes. Busy place but didnt wait more than 10 minutes, very friendly wait staff, and excellent food and caffeine choices! Parking was rough but not enough to keep me from going back :)
Food was tasty enough but several dishes seemed overpriced for what they were. Service felt disjointed due to several servers with repeat questions from separate people.
Beautiful spot for a fresh breakfast or lunch. My Caprese toast had avocado that was fresh and a wonderful sun-dried tomato pesto. My daughter had hers with a fruit salad with banana and berries, which is a refreshing change from the melon that most places give you! Everything we tried was great and the ambiance was clean and eclectic.
Every time I come here, the quality is just consistent. Good food, excellent coffee, and attentive service.
Good food, good service. Nothing super special but it was a delicious breakfast. The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired.
Wonderful breakfast spot! Both the coffee and food are delicious. They also offer vegan/dairy free options! Would certainly come back here again.
Pretty good, didnt appreciate the bathroom signs lol, it would be way worse the other way around
Horrible wait time on Friday morning. One hour wait! Messed up day. They look like enjoying the headache free time.
Excellent crepes! Awesome ambience!! Value for money!!!
Great service, reasonably good gluten-free options
Best breakfast EVER. Fabulous crepes (Sofia), Turkish sausage, and the coffee is terrific. A very pleasant wait staff makes the meal even better.
Excellent food and customer service!I work in Shadyside, so I frequent this establishment often. From the very first time to now, customer service has always been outstanding. The food is delicious as well, and now that they’ve moved upstairs to their beautiful new space, the service, espresso, food, and ambience combined make me feel like I am back in Europe again. I highly recommend!
The cookie butter on that crepe was divine. And the lox bagel was very good. Its not a cheap place necessarily since the portions dont go too far, but the quality and freshness definitely makes up for it.
The 4 of us all tried different dishes and 5th to share. each one was amazing.
This was my first time here and tbh I wasnt very impressed. Now, to be fair, this could be due to many things, especially my own expectations, which are quite high when I dine out. (Honestly more people should be critical of the food taste when they pay a decent amount for it).The crepe that I got (the Sofia Crepe) was very tasteless and the harissa far overpowered the other ingredients. The eggs werent seasoned at all and very fake tasting, so I wouldnt recommend that one. However, the service was nice enough and there was plenty of seating. Im not giving less than 3 stars because I would go back to try somethings else, just not in the near future. Also, kinda gotta budget that stuff. Hopefully your experience will be more delectable! Finally, dont expect to be blown away by the coffee here, and it is a little dirty down in there. (Sub ground-level is tough to keep sparkling clean)
Delicious fresh ingredients, so tasty!
The walnut toast was excellent. The granola was crunchy. Great dessert for breakfast
One of the best breakfast 🥞 places 😋
Great Café. Excellent latte and authentic crepes
I stumbled across this cafe because it was one of the only restaurants open on a Monday afternoon near Walnut street and it was fantastic! I apologized for walking in close to when they were closing, but the owner was very kind and gave me free side salads and masks with the cafe logo. The savory crepes were delicious and I’ll definitely eat here again!
Lovely little hole-in-the-wall cafe with proper and authentic French crepes as their specialty. We lived in Europe for three and a half years and this truly is the real deal. Very friendly and prompt customer service. Be prepared to wait, as this is a very popular Cafe. Copy braces are also very good. I tried the Turkish coffee and it was excellent. Only complaint was that they serve the Turkish coffee directly in your espresso cup, rather than bring you the cast iron carafe to keep the coffee warm longer.
Excellent food. My first trip there, invited by a friend... my serving was actually more than I could eat call Misty and some outlandishly sweet fruit. Drink lemonade that was just perfect
We had a great brunch. Many choices of crepes. Service was super and tables were distanced properly. We want to go back and try different combinations.
Great food. My go to is the gluten free avocado toast. Delicious!
This has been my favorite breakfast place in the city for over 5 years. The service is always outstanding, if something is wrong they make it right. So glad to see the upgrade from the lower level to the upper level of the building! Best crepes and chai tea lattes around.
Cafe Moulin, located in a basement, has a relatively cozy atmosphere. Their crepes are made with fresh ingredients and are pleasant to the eyes with very good to excellent presentation. We were greeted by a gracious host and enjoyed pleasant, attentive service on our first two visits; a somewhat less engaged waitress struck us as lackluster on our third visit. The food, on all 3 visits was 5 Star.
