Great coffee and service but I will never understand why they blocked off 100% of the outlets. A good coffee shop has 3 things - coffee, WiFi, and outlets. Why you would chose to remove one of those is beyond me. I do not recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to work

Tried this place for the first time. I was slightly amused to see the baristas’ carefully tinkering with scales, levelers, tampers, etc... and then I had quite likely the best espresso I’ve ever had in my life. It was sweet and flavorful with no bitterness. Really just fantastic. Definitely stop by.

The good: Nice music! They had some Thelonious Monk was playing, comfortable enough, pretty good espressoThe bad: they have some expensive gluten free pastries that are hands down the most vile combinations of bread and sugar that I have ever tried to consume, me and my partner got a cinnamon roll and a donut and both were basically inedible. They were impenetrably dense and dry. The icing was a sloppy mess. We threw them away and let the barista know but werent offered a refund or an apology. Its unconscionable to sell things that are that gross. And theyve intentionally covered over all the power outlets. Why? Ive never been in a coffee shop that is obviously a study spot that explicitly doesnt let you charge your laptop.I get the impression of stinginess that comes at the expense of a comfortable and pleasant space for costumers

Great spot. Coffee and tea were both delicious and the atmosphere, as others have mentioned, is relaxing. Limited food selection - several pastries - but enough for a little snack. When I was here, the tables were all taken up by people working on laptops, but there is a stylish and comfortable couch for those looking to just sip their drink.

TL;DR Their precise approach to coffee brings you an extremely balanced and delicious espresso that youll love every sip of.I was thoroughly impressed by how detailed they were with my espresso today. My barista took like .2g of coffee out of the portafilter because it was just a bit too much, which really impressed me (yeah they actually measure coffee in vs coffee out). What I got in the end was a balanced espresso. It was sweet, fruity, and aromatic, with a very pleasant acidity that really brightened my mood (not to be mistaken with sourness). Finally an espresso that isnt offensive and bitter. I had a latte as well and enjoyed every sip. The bright flavors shined through the milk to make an incredible latte.I plan to come more often and see how consistent they are. One thing Ive found at some cafes is that theyre inconsistent, but I doubt that will be a problem here with how detailed they are.

Best spot for soy lattes or cappuccinos in Shadyside, the baristas really know what they’re doing. Have never had a cup that was less than perfect. Also they sell local coffees grounds from common place coffee and other local roasters, which is really nice.I also really appreciate that they’re one of those coffee shops that showcases local artists in the rotating collection of art shown on their walls.

Arriviste is my favorite specialty coffee spot in the city. Makes me want to move to Shadyside! The cafe has a sleek, minimalist look (including a slick Modbar machine), an atmosphere that brings focus to the consistently high quality coffee. Kim and the staff nonetheless maintain a friendly and unpretentious vibe.Limited but well tailored selections of baked goods and whole beans, too.COVID-19: its largely a to-go experience as the indoor seating is closed and theres very limited sidewalk seating. The overall feel is very clean and safe, everyone wearing masks and moving efficiently, plus additional considerations in place like making it easy to use touchless payments.

Quite shnazzy. I had the frothy milk and honey drink. It was lovely! I would appreciate some cinnamon and other spices to add a pinch into my drink. The coffee chef told me there was none available. That was the first time I ever heard that in a coffee shop... especially a really nice one. They should have everything. Very beautiful decor! I felt like I was sipping coffee in an art gallery where no one talks to each other. Overall, a lovely place! I will go back.

Great at what they do, but know what to expect. It is a modern coffee place with most things automated. A machine will make your pour over. Very delicious but if it is important to you that a human be pouring that water, then you might not like it! Good ambiance, limited seating space, you can sit at the bar which I always love, some food options, and most things a little pricier than youd expect.

It is an excellent coffee shop on Ellsworth Ave. The drinks are delicious. The espresso is measured and pulled with great attention to detail. The pour overs are expertly curated and tasting notes are provided for each one . The staff is always friendly and will remember you after a few visits. While not designed with children in mind the staff has always warmly welcomed my toddler and made space for her at the espresso bar (no she doesnt drink coffee but will happily eat the choquettes.) The pastries are tasty and from a great local bakery. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I really wanted to like this place. It has great reviews so I had very high hopes. Walking in I was greeted by a very pleasant aroma and very nice lighting, first impressions meeting expectations. However, I quickly noticed that every single person there was studying, the place was completely silent except for the clinking of the baristas. I ordered a mocha which was not very rich and kind of bitter, not what you hope for in a mocha. My husband was satisfied with his espresso though. So if you are a coffee purist, don’t like anything sweet in your coffee and are looking for a place to study, this is it. If you want a place to talk to your companion, go elsewhere.

To put it simply: good people, good coffee, good place.Ive popped in a couple of times now, and I hope to visit more when Im around. They carefully curate quality coffee beans, both local and otherwise. Thats obviously part of the equation, but the other half is preparation, in which they excel too. The interior design exudes a well-executed modern aesthetic – clean lines, open spaces, minimalist – punctuated with displays of local art for sale. To top it all off, the baristas manage to carefully exude a relaxed professionalism, taking genuine interest in you as a person, not just a customer.

Good atmosphere, quiet but not so quiet you couldnt come for a conversation. Didnt find it to be a great place for studying as those who are alone are encouraged not to sit at the small tables and instead join the communal table. Which I get, but the communal table was also very crowded. There is not a lot of seating in general and I saw several people walk out because there was no place to sit. Also, every single outlet is covered, which I found to be pretty annoying and off-putting to those looking for a nice place to study or do some writing. The mocha I had was just ok. It was pretty bitter and all of the chocolate was stuck on the bottom.

The sign on the door reads, Almost 5 stars on Yelp. This high-concept coffee bar on Ellsworth doesnt keep pace with Pittsburghs better coffee shops. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant, the shop was spotless, they had the Sunday NY Times, and they use high quality coffee. Unfortunately my coffee was not hot. The barista brewed and delivered a replacement but it didnt include the shot I ordered. The other members of my party were similarly disappointed with their beverages. I found the atmosphere rather clinical and uninviting. Bottom line: disappointing coffee in a downer setting.
