When traveling I always look for comic book stores and Copacetic just became my favorite across the country. It was everything my little literary nerd heart could ask for and then some!Be sure to step out onto the balcony as you leave to get that otherworldly experience a finally boost in your memory.
While I have never visited their location in person I recently ordered something online. I made an exchange due to a book being rained on in transit and Copacetic Comics was so helpful and nice in fulfilling the exchange. In all honesty, they really didnt have to so I really appreciated the extra effort immensely. This shop does live up to its name, in excellent order. Thanks so much!
REALLY nice and cute little place. Wall to wall comics and books of all sorts, so awesome! The guy was very helpful and nice. The prices were cheaper despite everything being new and hip! Definitely will go again :)
Absolutely loved this place. This is the type of shop that has something for everybody. From DC to Floating World Comics, Junji Ito to Hyena Hell (No Romance In Hell was fantastic by the way). Large selection of minicomics and Pittsburgh made books. Will definitely recommend this store to others!
Incredible selection, almost like nothing youll ever see again. Mostly underground comics both international and local too! They do of course have stuff like DC and Marvel, but the real meat is what you barely know about, the outskirts of comics, stuff that arent getting major blockbuster films with the exception of something along the lines of Mystery Men by Bob Burden. ( which Im of almost no doubt theyd have! ) The owner is incredibly friendly and funny and so very wise and up to speed on comics and if youre unsure of a title and describe it or give him the author, hell most likely know it and point you in its direction and point you in the way of other artists and authors youd probably like and not to mention the owner also goes out of his way to undercut market price so hes making money, were getting deals and a title weve been after and we all win. Copacetic is personal, Copacetic is king! Go there, have fun and nerd out, show people this place! I showed three people and they all went on about their selection and how they loved it and the whole experience and people you show will no doubt love it too! Cant reccomend enough.
Without a doubt the best comics shop Ive ever been to. Cant wait to return. Lovely owner!
Great Company to buy from. They lived up to every promise they made. They gave the best care in packaging and wrapping the books before sending and they show that hey give the absolute personal care to each customer. and cannot forget the good prices & timely shipments. They indeed set a new standard for customer service .. Great Job I wish Copacetic all the best in the future..
Undoubtedly one of the best comic book shops in the United States when it comes to indie fare. Shippings always cheap, well-packed and sent in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I havent had the opportunity to visit the brick and mortar store but if youre into underground and alternative comics, this is a great place to buy them. They stock plenty of interesting cartoonists work and do a pretty good job of listing out of print and rare stuff when they can find it, which is pretty cool as not many shops bother to do so. Definitely recommended.
Absolutely incredible breadth and collection of graphic novels, self published and local comics and zines, and a nice selection of fiction. Best one Ive ever been to probably. Check out their catalogue online and if you can you should definitely stop by.
I can easily say that this is my favorite comic book store. Dude’s knowledge is unsurpassed and passion infectious. I can’t wait to come back.
Hidden gems, oddities, and local artists and writers on display. This is such a cool shop, always feels like an adventure!
I like to visit comic shops where ever we go and my wife found Copacetic Comics and had to check it out. What a great place! Not your typical comic shop, carrying back issues and a wide selection of books. Picked up some great back issue comics at great prices! My wife also found some great books as well! Super friendly, definitely will be back!
This place is amazing. In spite of the small size, theyve got the best curation in any comic store Ive visited. Bill is one of the most engaging people Ive ever met in a comic store, and I just feel bad for how long I want to stay in the store when I visit.
Absolutely LOVE this place! Amazing selection of small-press, self-published and harder to find comics at great prices with fast and secure shipping.Ive ordered from them numerous times and will continue to do so. Thanks Copacetic for somehow always having like 1 copy left of some recently out-of-print book Im looking for!
One of the best book shops in the Burgh! Definitely worth a visit if youre looking for a new read.
The finest comic book store in not only Pittsburgh, but perhaps the entire state of Pennsylvania, or even the mid-Atlantic states. The owner is a nationally and internationally known expert/dealer/historian/writer and publisher who has devoted his life to studying and promoting the art form. He maintains a meticulously-crafted inventory of new and older comics, books, graphic novels and collections. He hosts workshops with Frank Santoro and other notable Pittsburgh artists and contributes and consults with journalists and historians the world over, offering his over 40-year career. He specializes in non-super-hero/adventures comics, offering differing points of view, art styles, story-telling and the like. But make no mistake - he loves super-hero comics! (Ask him about how Quasar was his idea.) His recommendations are also informed from his professional relationships with creators and publishers in the industry. Finally, his store is a wholly unique, near-mind-blowing experience of comics, culture, film and music. Dont miss it!
Easily the best shop Ive ever been to. Bill is incredibly nice and wildly knowledgeable. You cant go in there without coming out satisfied.
This is the coolest comic book store I have been to in a long time. They have a wonderful selection of comics and graphic novels. Youre guaranteed to find something browsing every single time. The building it is in is very cool too!
Incredible place crammed full of graphic novels from independent publishers, books on pop culture, music, movies, history, and selected non-fiction. Bill is all-knowing on these topics and if you cant find something, he may have it in his vast archives. Worth a visit!
Not a traditional comic shop but unique and worth shopping at. They have a good selection of print comics and wide selection of small press. They carry other books as well. I was able to find a comic from a local artist. If you are in Polish Hill, stop by.
Amazing selection! He has everything I could want and more! And not only that, he knows what he is talking about and always makes great recommendations! Super friendly and prices are great!
If you like a small, eclectic, intelligent, stimulating, memorable book store which specializes in comics and graphic novels but has a fantastic, though small, collection of current and classic fiction, art books, film and photography and art cinema DVDs you will be in heaven here. You will find books you never knew existed, and others you have loved forever. The owner is worth the trip in himself --- hugely erudite, engaging, somewhat eccentric. A mensch and a jewel. One of my two favorite bookstores in the world.
Love this quirky local shop for books and comics. The guy who works there is genuinely helpful and seems to appreciate his customers and love his store. Its fun to see what all they have in stock. Lots of interesting, different stuff.
Went in for specific art title and they had everything by the creator plus the stuff my 10yo kid wanted. The guy seemed to know basically everything and was happy to talk and suggest. Everything was priced under cover price.
If you are lucky, you will climb the stairs to the top and Bill will be there. He is a kind and generous guru. Ask him a question and enjoy the conversation that follows.
Best comic book store ever
Amazing! Service was great and the owner is one of the nicest guys Ive ever met
If you like old random books, youve found it. Otherwise, the book selection is weak and their comics are all indie, old, badly organized, and meh. Its cool and hipstery, but thats maybe where the charm ended for me.Im a comic book nerd and collector and I was disappointed. The guy at the desk was cool, wasnt wearing shoes or socks, and was drawing something beautiful. So...that was something different and fun. But I wont go back.
Not as good as Phantom of the Attic. But there are still some good finds there.
The best!
Best bookstore on planet Earth. Merch includes but is not limited to: Art / indie comics and graphic novels (Fantagraphics, Drawn + Quarterly, Nobrow, self-published, hand-made, and tons of small and tiny presses the world over); children’s comics; discounted comic books from the 60s-90s; art books; jazz, classical, and punk CDs; art house DVDs; literary novels; poetry; blank journals; postcards; more.Unlike most comics / art book stores, Copacetic boasts a large and deep selection going back many years, nearly everything is sold for well under cover price, and some items are absurdly cheap. The proprietor is a wonderful conversationalist and, after asking you some questions about yourself, can guide you towards selections that you are guaranteed to find intriguing.I live in Florida and I make a pilgrimage to Copacetic once a year when I go visit my dad.NOTA BENE: If you are looking for the latest in superhero comics, big head figurines, and the like, you should not go here. Instead, visit Phantom of the Attic in Oakland, a fantastic and beautiful store in its own right. Also you may enjoy the Kawaii shop in Shadyside, which deals in nerdy / cute Japanese and domestic toys.ALSO PLEASE NOTE: This store is located up three flights of steep stairs. If you have a mobility limitation, this may pose as a challenge.ONE MORE THING: For the best experience it is worth calling ahead to make sure Bill is working the day you go for your first visit.P.S.: Lili Coffee Shop, on the first floor, sells excellent vegetarian snacks. Try the Tempeh Reuben. There is a vinyl record store on the second floor, as well, which deals in classic records as well as the newest multicolored vinyl delights.
Best comics store experience in the city!
Super nice and friendly, wide range of independent publications :)
Awesome place, had everything I wanted!
Goodi collection, and the owner is amiable, with an extensive knowledge of comics
Yeah its on the 3rd floor and theres no noticeable elevator, but its still one of the best little indie bookstores Ive come across so far.
Bill Boichel is the comics whisperer
Amazing place
