Just a heads up to people using Midas -- they have consistently given me overpriced estimates for work that my car actually does not need done. I always get a second opinion when a car shop recommends a lot of work, and both times Ive gotten second opinions after first consulting Midas, other repair shops have told me that Midas is just trying to rip me off and get me to have work done that is not necessary. I recommend going to somewhere more reputable or that you trust! Especially if youre a woman who doesnt know a ton about cars, this place might try to take advantage of you.
Under new owners but still providing quality service.
Staff was extremely friendly and fit me in on short notice. Best experience Ive had at a mechanic, didnt feel pressured to fix unnecessary things and was given reasonable payment options. This is my first visit and they made me feel like Ive been coming here for years. Will be coming to this location for all my car needs.
They are the best! Same day repair and reasonable pricing ! Will always have a loyal customer in me !
First place I took my car in the city, trustworthy folks here who do honest work
Midas did an accidentally great job on my car I asked if I could see that work that needed to be done they didnt hesitate I highly recommend anybody to go there excellent price
They replaced our gas line cables instead of the brake line cables and sent us on our way for a whopping $1,200. When the brake fluid fully leaked out of the non-replaced brake line cables after just two hours, we were yet again stuck with no brakes. We could have been seriously injured or worse.
I didnt get scalped in a Midas! Oil changes were on sale; I got one; it cost just what I was expecting. Thats nice.
Insane pricing. Engine light came on and they said we needed 4 sparkplugs and 4 injection coils. Fine. The problem was the cost of the parts--$30 per spark plug and $220 per injection coil.I understand that these places need to make money, I really do. But in NO SANE WORLD is an injection coil $220. Midas takes price gouging to a whole new level. I can literally buy an identical coil, brand new on Amazon, for $45. Even Advance charges $85 for the same one. There is simply no way to justify the parts prices. Midas is dishonest at best, and I will never go back there. Also, $90 for a diagnostic when we had a decent idea whats going on? Feel like I threw money down the drain. Lesson learned. Stay local.
Came here for my inspection, they failed me and said my car needed both front control arms replaced at a cost of $975 because they were cracked. Cost $90 to fail. I’d had my suspension checked a few months back and was almost certain that was not true. Took it to a place in the poconos who said A. Nothing was wrong with my suspension and B. Control arms don’t crack unless you’re in a bad accident. Price for that inspection for $41 including the sticker. Don’t go here for your inspection or otherwise, they’re scammers.
STAY FAR AWAY! I went in for a brake inspection because that was the only way I could be quoted on a price. Im not an expert on cars, but I know what I know. That being said, I went to Midas knowing I already needed new brakes & rotors. The mechanic told me i needed a new brake caliper & that would’ve easily made my service costs over $500. I obviously took my car to my personal mechanic who proceeded to tell me that I didn’t need a new caliper. Its crazy how they can pull things from there butts, just for the sake of a profit. If you dont want to be scammed, take the time to go to a local & honest mechanic
Nice but prepare ahead for a long waiting!
Love this place they get the job done rite
The service is good. There waiting room is horrible and needs to be thoroughly cleaned and updated.
I went in for an oil change and they offered a complimentary tire rotation, i agreed thinking thats thoughtful only to have my tire alignment off. When I returned with the car right afterwards, they informed me that they never touched my tires and complimentary tire rotation is on my for those who requests it. As far as my tires alignment, I was informed that my tires were misaligned prior to my initial visit. No it wasnt.
Made it appointment online when I got there they didnt have it although I had a confirmation number
Took 2021 Tesla. I was literally in & out. Less than 20 minutes for state inspection.
Ummm appointments only and was interested to see if I can get an appointment
Nice atmosphere curtious prices is not bad
They were the best. Customer service was the best. Im not saying that cause the Men in there were Handsome.😊 The Gentlemen helped in many ways. I appreciate all the good work on my car they did. I will definitely be back for more services. I will definitely tell my family and friends about Midas on 4138 Market st Phila, pa keep up the good work guys😊❤🙏
I went to Midas because my exhaust flange pipe broke. They tell me that they cannot fix it. Midas is supposed to be an exhaust shop but they tell me that they cannot get the parts necessary to repair my jeep. Its a liitle crazy that an exhaust repair shop cant get parts to repair an exhaust.
Fantastic, very fast service.
I have been coming here for several years and have yet to be disappointed. They have installed multiple sets of tires for me and performed small maintenance jobs when I did not feel like doing it myself.
Very friendly service .honest and problems solvers
Its always a pleasant experience.
HORRIBLE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! I dropped my car off for inspection and oil change at 7:45am . I work at Penn Hospital on 39th st so I can easily get there to pick it up. I got off work at 2:30 pm went to pick up my car just for them to say I failed inspection, ok thats fine but my issue is WHY DIDNT ANYONE CALL ME! Now Im waiting for them to give me my keys and THEY LOST MY KEYS,IT TOOK THEM 1/2 TO FIND MY KEYS. I am better off taking my car to a local mechanic. THIS PLACE IS NOT GOOD. DO NOT COME HERE PLEASE IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR!!
Technicians were able to get a part on my car I had tried to replace myself and failed. The part in question is on the turbo and just within a thick part of main frame, in about an hour and a half they had my car up and running again. I decided to go with them for the job because the proximity to my house and also had my car state inspection there.
41st and market Street in Philadelphia the manager is Milton and he runs a good shop my number one mechanic name is Dan and he is the best a Master mechanicKeep up the good work
Really good place
Destroyed my car and all I need was my tires balanced.
Service was quick, professional, and they answered all my questions. Ill be a repeat customer in the future for certain.
Too expensive for a simple fix, almost double charged me. Would rather go to my car dealer directly next time. But the good part is you don’t need to make an appointment, go directly drop off your car.
-2 stars because none of the people working on people’s cars were wearing masks both days I was there.-1 star because I got there for a simple inspection sticker, waited two hours only for them to tell me to come back the next day because the emissions machine was bugging.-1 star because they schedule me an appointment for 8am, I got there at 7:55am but turns out the guy never scheduled my appointment so I had to pay $20 for Ubers to go home while they took 5h to get my inspection done, despite being promised that if I came in at 8am I’d be out in a hour max.
Had an appointment for 9:30 am for an oil change. It took over an hour for them to get to my car so there was no point in having an appointment. They didnt bother to warn me they were backed up. Also, pretty sure my grandma could change oil faster than these guys.
12/10/2020 - I had to have a water pump & thermostat replaced. Cost about $760.The previous day when I showed up at their garage, I had forgone their offer of an $80 diagnostic check to see what was wrong & insisted on a new thermostat. So when they looked at the engine the next day, the water pump was a surprise. Anyway, they replaced everything within 2 hours.
They scheduled and cancelled inspections on three different days. On the day they gave me an inspection, they estimated repair costs at over $1,500. I took my car out and went to a different business, which finished my inspection and repairs for $58. Extremely disorganized, and frankly dishonest business. I would avoid this location
Excellent service. Waited about 13 mins for them to check the tires. Rode off with my tires inflated properly 🤩
Every time i try to get my car fixed from them they deny me service
Great Customer Service
Because you are in and out, and very polite
I’ve only been to this meineke a handle full of times and I’ve always liked the way the manager engaged with me. But I went the other day and interacted with a different employee who was kinda cold, but whatever.Today, I’m getting in my car at 1am because I do shift work at a hospital and I see something on one of my tires. I look and there is this big bubble on the side of it. There is also a white circle surrounding it, indicating to me that it was observed the other day at the shop. This wasn’t brought to my attention at all by the shop. I went there because I had several warning lights pop up (one being for tires). They said everything was fine. That’s so not cool and also I could’ve gotten into an accident. I now have to take my car to a different shop now and I don’t have a ton of free time to just take my car to auto shops all week.Disappointed
This place is an absolute nightmare. If you plan on spending hundreds of dollars on simple fixes then this is your place. They charged me 500 dollars to change my brakes! Then had the audacity to charge me 400 dollars to change my coils! They charge 3 times the amount of the parts just for labor for a service that takes maybe an hour. I will not be visiting this place ever again and I advice you do the same.
Similar to John below, I brought my car in for a state inspection 2 days. Was told that I needed to replace all 4 brakes and rotors which would have cost over $1,000. I took my car to the dealership who told me the brakes were completely fine and they would feel morally corrupt recommending any repairs. Do not visit this location!!
Went to check tires and possibly get a new one. Ended up purchasing a new tire, nut not the same brand of tire which I should have specified. Service was quick considering only one technician on duty. I just drove in but so services, you should call
I went to Midas to get my Subaru Forester inspected, and received a call from them after the inspection saying they needed to do a variety of things which would total up to about $2400.I then took the car to a *trusted* mechanic, did not tell him about the Midas bill and let him do his own inspection. The bill from him totaled to $800 and included AC repairs that I requested.Do not trust Midas.
Good customer service
Very Good service
When my long term mechanic retired, I wished him well but was concerned about finding a reliable, honest mechanic. Mr. Velez and his team at 42nd and Market St are reliable, honest and welcoming. The service is top notch. I would recommend this Midas location to anyone.
I went to purchase four new tires, buy three get one free the guy tells my $89.00 each and $130.00 for each tire to be installed. I said no thanks and ran out of that place like I was on 🔥. Thats why they cant have my business.
Never go here. I went in for a routine yearly state inspection. I was told my brakes were shot and that my car needed new brakes and rotors costing over $1000 to pass the safety inspection. I then brought my car to a different mechanic for a second opinion and estimate, and was told everything was great with my vehicle. I passed the inspection and received a passing sticker at the new location. My brake pads were not worn down at all! I would not trust this place with my vehicle, and I will never be back.
Didnt have parts in stock.Very disappointing.
I needed water pump and thermostat. 3 to 4 hour repair I was told. 1666.00 because they had to lower motor. I got it back 12 days later. Its not the same car. I gave them them 1 star for friendly.
They were friendly. The manager waived the diagnostic fee. They recommended I take my car to dealership. I like the fact that they were honest with me. I would go there again.
Rip off. Tried to over charge me to put a y pipe on my car 6 bolts and explained 4 of the bolts was new he says $280.
Want there because, my steering wheel would slide to the right when we car accelerate. I believed I need a wheel alignment so I paid to get a wheel alignment, an all they did was make the steering wheel go to the left. Now I took it back soon as I drove my car around the block. They told me to bring it in tomorrow morning. I brung it back they tell my it’s a motor mount that’s making the car slide to the side when accelerating. At that point I knew I knew more than them about cars unless they just didn’t know what to say, or how to lie. Like how do the car even slide the opposite way from where it was just sliding before they did the wheel alignment. Now I took it somewhere else an they told me it was my lower control arm an, that any shop that does wheel alignments know you can’t do a wheel alignment if the lower control arm or wheel hub is bad. So I replaced the lower control arm an now the steering wheel don’t slide but now since I paid $130 something for the wheel alignment an replaced the lower control arm now my steering wheel is not centered. I brought my car back to them with the paperwork saying it’s a 90 day warranty an they told me I got the one shot deal on the wheel alignment an I would have to pay again. Now I been to other Midas an they don’t operate like this one I believe they just doing what they want with no common sense... just shut this one done an bring back the pep boys that was across the street
I think the service is great! An essential local auto repair store for the community.
I was told to wear a mask when I came into the store which I totally understand but a lady with her kid was in there without one and nothing was said to her..
If you take your vehicle here after reading this review as well as the other horror stories you have to blame yourself if things turn out poorly. My cousin Kathy has taken her car here for the yearly inspection sticker each of the last ten years. First she takes her car to a certified auto repair ship in New Jersey who for 30 years has serviced the vehicles for my company. Her car was given all the repairs required and was serviced. This bill was $561.55. When she went to Midas to get state inspection these thieves told her she needed a control arm and ball joint for $600. She then took the car back to our auto repair shop and he said it did not need the work. He replaced the parts at our request (charged $395). We have the parts and they are not defective. One would hope that a woman going into a repair shop could be treated fairly and not taken advantage of. This Midas franchise is under new management and they are less than honest. I intend to file a complaint with the State of Pennsylvania and with Midas corporate office. I have all the evidence to prove these guys are absolute THIEVES!
I went in for the $19.99 oil change they were advertising on their website. They said they werent participating, and that it would be $21.99. Thats fine. I came in the next day when their shop had availability. I asked for the oil change and the receptionist handed me the invoice. It said $27 and change. I read. $4 and change in misc. fees the receptionist hadnt mentioned before. She said the info was on the $19.99 coupon I had attempted to use yesterday. I stated that I would have preferred for her to tell me the whole price before printing the invoice, but I wasnt even too bothered by that. What makes me give a poor/fair review is that a manager or shop worker decided my request was important enough to jump out of his office, grab the Invoice, and start lecturing me on the various things Midas does--check tire pressure, look for wear, etc--that no other shop does, basically insinuating that I should shut up about the charge and be grateful for everything they were going to do for me. Their shop looked clean and professional, but I didnt find their customer service to be on par. I said no thank you and walked out the door.
This is good place. Had a muffler put on last year and going back to get my breaks done soon. Didnt know that they did too. My neighbor got his tires there . Good prices too. The people are friendly and they try to get you on your way in no time.
Nice😎
Very pleasant
Great, fast service.
They did great work. Willing to work with you.
Simple easy straightforward
Scheduled an appointment, showed up, guy was nice, told me computer was down, and could not do any work. 3 other guys were in waiting area sitting but didnt look concerned; anyhow, I was told that I would get a call back when the system was back online. Well that was 2 weeks ago and my muffler was repaired by another mechanic. Interesting right?
Growing up the only person I trusted to work on my car was my dad, when I moved to Philly I started hunting for a good shop to take my car. Im so grateful to have found Midas on Market St. in West Philly. They are honest, fair, and extremely good at what they do. My husband and I have tried many of the other shops in West Philly, and Midas is the best. I would highly recommend it!
My boyfriend took my car to get a oil change & when he got the car back; our stuff have been stolen. I called to complain & talk to the manager but they said that the manager won’t be in until Wednesday. Why is there not a manager watching over the employees?!You guys are doing a simple oil change; what the hell are you doing going through my personal stuff?! I’m calling corporate. This place needs to clean house & rehire new employees.
Came in for a replacement inspection sticker and was given no estimate on how long I would have to wait. One hour in, I asked how much longer it would take. I was told they were bringing my car in 10 minutes from then. It’s now nearly 2 hours that I have been sitting in this waiting room for a $13 sticker.
I was ripped off to the tune of 40.00 dollars for a oil change they didnt tell me how much until finished
Drop car off at 10am, by 2pm no call so I called Midas at 2:15pm when they was just looking at my car. The price was a little expensive and I was only getting oil change and inspection. I was not happy with Midas that day!!!
Dave and his team are prompt, courteous and credible. This is the second time in two years I have used their services.Got a quote for tire replacement and work to be done. Price in alignment with other quotes. Booked it in for repairs and inspection. Work was done efficiently - saved my wait time. Next morning, one of the tires was flat. Called Dave - within 15 minutes they were at my place, aired up the tire, took it back to the shop... checked the cause (tube valve) and fixed it - pronto! I was on my way again. WOW - great to have that reassurance!!!
This is the closest store from where I live so I went there to get my flat tire fixed. I had a flat tire in which I put on the spare by myself. I can assure you that it was done properly. Yes, one of the LUG STUD was stripped and I was aware of that prior to bring it to the store.Made an appointment but that didnt make any difference and still waited for about 3+ hours to get a simple flat tire fixed. Anyhow, finally they took my car in the shop to take a look at the flat and claimed that the side wall was broken and will cost $150+ to get it replaced/installed, which I declined. They took out my car out of the garage and told me that all the screws are stripped and I will have to take it to the Honda Dealer to get them replaced. I was so surprised to hear that and explained them that only one was stripped but the clerks there tried reason me by saying that the spare was not put on properly thats why it happened which is not true. The mechanic at the repair stop stripped the remaining 4 Lug Studs, which were perfectly fine before bringing my car to them. Not that they only screwed my car stud, they also put my life in danger by NOT informing me that the Lug Nuts were not installed properly and were in about 1/4 of the way which I found out after I left the shop. My car was making funny noises as I was making turns. So, I turned around and brought the car back to the shop but they were no help and only excuse for them was that the spare tire was not installed properly which is a complete lie.I am NOT upset at them for screwing up my Lug Studs but for FAILING TO INFORM me that my spare tire was not properly installed which can potentially cause a CAR ACCIDENT! This is such a POOR customer service. I will never go back to this place and Urge people to check their cars before leaving the repair shop.
I feel Agent can be more welcoming and friendly
Normally not a fan of having to bring my car in for an oil change but I brought my car here and it was done so quickly and I didn’t feel like I was being told everything on my car needs fixing like i’ve experienced other places. Will definitely be going back here.
I been to this place for my first time to change my car tires and come to find out one of their employee drove my car and back into another customer car while Im in the office with the manager waiting for him to print out the issues thats wrong my car tires. But later I hear a big Boom and was wondering what is it, but come to find out its one of their employee driving my car and hit another car which lead me to dispute it and the manager took upon himself to fix it and the bumper and the fix on mh car but was very poor job because the paint doesnt match the car color at all. And all the money I spend with them at this place was more too which doesnt make sense for only four tires and other stuff they made up when they lift my car so I think the made up other stuff to charge me more money for 4 tires its ridiculous. I wouldnt recommend anyone to this location because of their bad service.
In and out oil change...
Very helpful, quick and managed to get my 85 Hilux back to new! Highly recommend.
Came in for a oil change and asked them to take a look at my brakes. My car was there for 7 hours and when they finally told me to come in they said I was in desperate need of new brakes. Went to my trusted mechanic back home and said there was plenty of tread on the liners and said I won’t need them replaced for another year or so. If you want to get taken advantage of this is the perfect spot for you! Trust the Midas touch everywhere expect for these guys here in university city!
Very much satisfied
Really nice people. Looked at my brakes and said they looked good and didn’t need to be replaced. Charged me just a few dollars to inspect them.
This by far is the worst location in the city. Slow service there were 2 cars here including mines I had a 330 for a simple oil change 90 mins laters the car was done this is not the great service I’ve became accustomed to with working with Midas this location needs to really have a district manager come and give training or simply close the location
Sevice was fast. I had an appointment and was seen on time. I was out of there in less than an hour.
Honestly as a young adult woman I’m not too surprised when mechanics try and play me. Midas really tried it though, being that I’m not from philly I came to them since they were the closest shop. While they addressed my car issues quickly, I was told I needed a brake pad change and that it would be $500. Feeling the price was too high I took my car and asked around with friends at a few other mechanics shop who believe it shouldn’t be more that 150-200. I could have made an argument if it wasn’t just the front brake pads that needed replacing, but that was the only problem. It’s really nice that Midas is keeping up the stereotype of trying to get as much money as they can from more ill-informed clients.
I dropped my car at midas for inspection . They called me the next day said they need to change my inner tire rod which will cost $400+ Or they wont pass the inspection for me.I dont believed that. So I got my car and drove to pepboys to do the inspection again! They quickly checked everything and told me I dont need to change anything and just pass the inspection! ! This shady place is not honest at all! Dont go there ! Totally waste time and money!
I was expecting my cable belt for my window to be don the next day which was completely fine with me. However to my surprise my car was repaired on the same day and the service was at an affordable price. Thank you to David. Midas is an excellent auto service company. I highly recommend these guys!
Oil change a bit of a wait but the coupon made it all worth it, the staff was cool too. A to the young lady who was there with her friend, remember every 3 months or every 3000 miles for your oil changes. Lol
This if the first review I have EVER written for ANYTHING.... but I felt obligated to after receiving some of the best customer service here that I have ever had! I was really, REALLY impressed with their professionalism and most importantly, their quality of work. I would not hesitate in returning here for any problem I have with my car.
From the nice lady at the front desk in the waiting room to the guys in the shop my experience was great. They checked out my tire issue and made the repair pretty quickly too (I waited about 20 minutes). I will definitely return.
My wife and I have been going here for a few years now. Theyre the best shop Ive ever taken my car to. Fast turnaround, very fair prices, direct communication, and great work. Highly recommended.
Waited 4 hours for a simple oil change when I had an appointment scheduled for 8am. Workers clearly dont care. Rude. Warning to everyone out there...
Prices could be listed more clearly
If I could give this place 0 Stars I would. This place is complete trash. I dropped my car off at 9 in the morning, and told them that they could have as much time to work on my car as needed, and I will call back around 1 p.m. to see if my car is ready. I called them at 1 p.m. to see if my car was ready. They told me my car was ready for pickup. I get to the store to pick up my car, and they said they hadnt even begun to work on my car and completely forgot about my car. They asked me to stay for another 2 hours to have my car worked on. I just ended up leaving with my car and no oil change. This place is a dump do not even take your car here. Avoid completely or possibly waste your whole day.
The team and management at Midas location on Market Street here in Philadelphia was wonderful. I initially took my car in for inspection a few weeks ago but it wasnt going to pass until some work was done which I had predicted but after a fair estimate of what needed to be done I approved and brought my car back to get the needed work recommended as well as the inspection. I am so thrilled that I was kept abreast during the process via telephone and upon retrieving my car I was treated both kindly and given a fair price. I will bring my car back to Midas for every repair and inspection from now on. Thanks.
Mostly bad. I add one star because the price they gave for the work that needed to be done seemed to be reasonable. Rude staff, unpleasant facility.
I brought my car in in the morning and within a few hours the work was done. The staff was very pleasant and helped make the situation a bit less stressful. The manager Fenel Louis was awesome. I’d definitely recommend coming here and getting work done!!
They did a great job and they were fast. They didnt overcharge us.
Nice
