The drinks and service is always wonderful! The reason I decided on a 1 star is because of how I witness them treat their employees. The poor cashier looked miserable and how they were training the new kid was disgusting. You train your employees with kindness and by asking how THEY learn and work from there. Not stand over your employee with a frown and your arms crossed like a disappointed mother. She was extremely short and nasty towards her poor workers. It put a disgusting taste in my drink.
A typical downfall of a successful business when owners become absentee. It took 40 minutes to get two drinks today after they skipped my order and kept calling out orders after mine. If the owners don’t have time to manage a busy Saturday then please higher an experienced manager and pay them well to do it for you. I’ve been coming to Fat Bee since opening at their previous location on 143rd but unfortunately this was probably my last visit.
I enjoy summers but Im really not loving this heat wave. The only things keeping me sane are cool drinks and chilled cups of fat bee teas. My husband loves their mojito lime soda and I tried their strawberry mojito with mango popping today and it was brilliant! They have different flavor blends with sugar/no sugar options. They also take care of the amount of ice in your drinks so that you can customize your drink by adding jellies, poppings, less ice or more ice, less sugar or regular sugar etc.I loved the look of their sitting area. Its upscale and very tidy. They also serve artisan croffles and mini cake portions and I will have to try one of those next time Im there which I think will be soon.My server was extremely polite and I made sure to tell her that my drink was perfection. These guys do a wonderful job of making blended teas and I think it takes great skill to do that.I havent tried their thai tea and milk tea drinks and will do it soon. Anything delicious from here to beat the heat is my new mantra.Really cool place, sweet staff, amazing drinks and a really cool Instagram-worthy picture place!
Phenomenal experience. Top notch drink, atmosphere, and wait staff. Have been here multiple times, and every time is an amazing experience all around. Give it a try because it is worth it!
Love the drinks and service here ! My cousin forgot to adjust the sweetness on her drink and we asked them if they would be able to remake it and without a problem they did . I’m not sure if it was the owner but right after a lady came out to make sure all our other drinks were to our liking . Would recommend!
I LOVE coming to Fat Bee! Every time I come here, it feels like home and Im always so happy. The coffee/tea shop atmosphere is one I thought would go away once the pandemic started. Fat Bee continues to be my favorite tea shop and is one of the most dedicated to their clients. Its a great place to meet up for just about anything -- the atmosphere is PERFECT for studying, catching up with friends, dates, etc. I will ALWAYS come here for my bubble tea needs :)
The cafe is really cute and they have a good amount of options to choose from. I’ve only went once and I ordered a creme brûlée brown sugar boba. I did not get brown sugar boba. Very disappointed. The drink itself tasted as tho it had no sugar in it. I believe the sweetness level can be modified, but I wasn’t asked. Other than that the place is cute and I will give it another chance.
Love the drinks but don’t come here if you’re ever in a rush. I’ve currently been waiting on my single drink order for 30 minutes and counting. It’s 2pm and not crazy busy so I’m a little confused why it’s taking so long. I come here at least once a week and have never had a shorter than 5 minute wait for my drink even when I am the only person. So, love the drinks, but the service is incredibly slow.
Fantastic drinks, very friendly staff. I will recommend to any milk tea lovers. Will definitely come again
What a cute little cafe to visit on a warm day! They appear to be very popular cause it got crowded quickly. They have a wide range of drinks and a little food menu as well. I like the digital display of the menu too. I ordered the strawberry pineapple slush with mango jelly. It was so good! It has a milkshake texture to it which I wasn’t expecting but still enjoyed. I’ll be back to try more.
This place violates child labor law. By federal law, minors under the age of 16 are not allowed to work past 7 pm, or for more than 3 hours on a school day. However, the owner regularly schedules children for 6 hour shifts on school nights, which last as late as 9:30 pm. Do not support this business.
Cute little place with lots of options for milk tea, lattes and more! I got a latte and especially for this being not specifically a coffee shop, it was really quite good!
I LOVE THIS BOBA PLACE!!!! I swear their drinks (especially the Taro Drizzle!) Is THE BEST!!!. I AM IN LOVE WITH THE BROWN SUGAR PEARLS!!!. They taste so heavenly like honey and sugary. I would 100% recommend this place!!!
Adorable little cafe! Quality toppings, tasty and beautiful drinks, friendly staff. Follow their social media to check out their brand and stay up to date on new additions. Their Insta feed is totes worth it.
Super cute and good boba. Is always super busy though.
Due to ppl working in the establishment not wearing mask I did not feel comfortable ordering. Atmosphere full of rude teenagers
Boba is 5 stars!! Excellent & friendly customer service.
This is the new location of one of the best bota tea shop in town. I really enjoy the new look and also their drinks. They have some more new drink on the menu and serve 3 new kinds of waffle. This place is best for hanging out with friends and family or your love one. Definitely, I will try to get all of their new drinks and waffles!
If you need a drink fix, with or without Boba no drink is a bad drink. Plus the new space their in is super cute and aesthetically pleasing for those insta photos. Forever go to is a roasted oolong with honey Boba or a Mango Sago smoothie! My sister loves the Oreo milk tea too for her super sweet tooth!
Stated this on a Yelp review as well, but if I could give 0 stars I would. Before they switched locations Fat Bee was incredibly welcoming and the drinks were made well. Now the employees are judgy and unhelpful, and their drinks are bland. You’re better off going to Ding Tea or Ari Delights, Ari Delights is even owned by the same people I believe.
First time going to Fat Bee this afternoon. I was pretty excited from looking at the menu online just to find out that is an old menu. No problem, I can find something else, what really turned me off was the staff not really offering any recommendations or the complete disinterest in trying to assist. I tried to put that encounter aside, ordered one of the summer specials and another Boba tea and was disappointed by the quality of product. The popping Boba tasted like plastic and left an awful after taste. The jelly was also pretty disappointing with a strange after taste. Couldnt really tell if I even liked the tea based off of the after tastes from the jelly and popping Boba. Overall, if you like mediocre drinks, then feel free to visit. I will stick to Kung-fu tea or any other place if I am getting Boba in Overland Park.
Delicious drinks! Tons of options. The waffles looked really good too.
UPDATE: Went in again and asked for no ice, but cold. Loved it!I ordered the Taro Milk Tea at Fat Bee during my visit there last night. I really enjoy bubble tea and have been on the hunt for a good spot every since I moved to the Overland Park area. I went to Fat Bee based on a friends recommendation.Pro: The milk tea itself had a great taste. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me. Unlike other bubble tea places, the tapioca tasted really good and had a nice texture to it. The staff was also very friendly and pleasant to speak to and had my drink prepared almost instantly.Cons: Although I may have been able to order it without ice, the clerk did not ask me - or tell me that it was going to come with a cup full of ice (over 3/4 was ice and only 1/4 of the cup had my drink in it). I paid a little over $6 with a tip and I was disappointed to see all that ice in my drink after I had finished it.
I was happy with my order. Barista even came over and asked us if our drinks were to our liking.
Wish they could bring back the Dragonfruit Slushy 😭😩 It was our favorite. Overall, still the greatest service and quality ever! Its addictive! 🤤
Not sure what happened to this place, but after relocating, quality and service has gone down the drain. This used to be our favorite boba place, but after continually giving them another chance, we unfortunately will not be going back. The drinks are so watered down now, frozen drinks are not blended well at all, and the boba tastes like nothing. They also no longer offer online ordering which was super convenient since service is pretty slow now too. Its overall very disappointing. Kung Fu Tea is a bit of a further drive for us but at least theyre consistent with good tasting drinks.
Tea is pretty decent! Not my favorite bubble tea place in the KC area, but definitely a good option. My only complaint is that the drinks did not have a lot of boba, and the boba itself was an additional 75 cents per drink. Most bubble tea places have free boba- so the drinks here end up being pricier than other locations.
A little crowded when you enter, but probably because of how good the boba is! Great taste and not a bitter aftertaste like some tea. The boba was made perfectly as well.
Our favorite boba place in the city with various options and good desserts. I havent tried their lunch bowls, but their tiramasu was very good. My daughter wants her birthday here.Update: I previously gave a 5 star review, but Ive come several times and waited 20-30 minutes for 2 drinks. There appears to be one person here doing the orders and making the tea (as in the one girl is doing everything). On 3 previous occasions the orders werent as I requested. Sad bc its still our favorite boba
First time visiting this cute little spot. They have a few waffles that looked delicious. Wouldve loved to try their cakes, the lady stated they were not made fresh but purchased from wholesaler so we passed. Got the creme brulee milk tea with flan and saltes sea foam ice coffee. The flavors were average and it appears a few flavors are premade and they have it in the cooler behind the counter. Not necessarily a bad thing but for a $6 drink, Id expect it to be fresh and higher quality. Now the reason behind the 3 star review. On the menu the brown sugar boba states it costs $0.75 but what they actually charged us was $0.85. Its only a 10 cent difference so I didnt say anything to them but it feels sketchy to have small price discrepancies like this, leaves a bad taste in the customers mouth with the dishonesty. There are better boba tea places.
It was really good! Service was amazing and short, and it’s very good! We will be going back
Good customer service 👍🏼
I really loved my choco frappee. So refreshing!!🙂So good I got a brain freeze. 😇🙂 🤯
I do not take joy in writing this review, however it must be said. As someone who has experienced first hand the ways of fat bees management, I have been burned many times. Their management has never changed, its just gotten worse. Employees are often underpaid, do not receive their tips although tips are accepted and are lied to about where they go (they go to the owners). Furthermore some were withheld pay if the management didnt feel like paying them. Its clear that money and aesthetics are valued over quality and customer service. Overall not a great place to work and it shows in the constant decline in customer service. Now to speak on the quality. Fat bees quality is very low compared to other shops in the area like bruu, presotea, and bingbox. The boba is very cheap and most of the drinks are made with artificial syrups you can find at 888. Yet, this isnt reflected in the prices.I could go on but one thing I would say is branch out and try other local shops and decide what tastes best to you. Id rather spend my money on quality tea and receive better customer service. I only hope they take this review into consideration and treat their employees better.
Ive only been a couple times but I love it. The place is ADORABLE - totally love the atmosphere. The staff is super helpful and we got our drinks quickly. They have a pretty extensive menu including teas, coffees, frosties...I got the strawberry banana frosty and loved it. If youre in the Overland Park area I would definitely try it out!
I love going to Fat Bee for boba. Locally owned and the owner tries to remember their guests.I love trying new drinks and their menu is definitely big enough to experiment. They added a new way to create your own drink that enhances the experience. The new location is right off the highway making it easier to access with plenty of outdoor space to hangout in this socially distanced time.I gave them one less star because I wish they provided more boba in their drinks especially if there is an added $0.75 charge.Drinks that I recommend:Okinawa milk tea for a more robust/deeper roasted flavor (make sure you get it at 25% or 50% sweet - it’s generally kind of sweet normally)Jasmine Green Milk Tea for a more floral tea. I know Jasmine isn’t for everyone but if you do, this is one to try!Lychee Milk Tea Slush or Honey Dew slush are great options if you want something more fruity. Use crystal boba instead of regular boba to match the more fruit like flavors and it’s delicious!
Very delicious and tasty boba drinks. Very refreshing and a perfect treat to end your day. Comfortable setting and friendly service. Their fruit slushies are also delicious.
The first things youll experience when walking into Fat Bee will be the smell of waffles and a sweet, K-Pop jam. This spot is very welcoming and is often populated by studious students and Overland Park moms. Theres a large, variety of teas, coffees and slushes all below $5.50.First timers here should start off with their Triple Bee Milk Tea, Honeydrew Star Slush or Cafe Sua Da. Definitely try their pandan waffles as well for $2.50. Their made fresh to order and pairs well with a Red Bean Ruby Smoothie or Taro Milk Tea.Ive tried other boba spots like Kung Fu Tea and TeaDrop and this is my favorite. Come around often and use your punch card to get the 11th drink free
I have loved this place since it opened. Best bubble tea place hands down in the area (including competitors nearby in OP or far in Lawrence/north KC). The prices were hiked up since opening, but theyve switched over to only having one size (good for them!), and the quality of the drink remains steady so far. Because it is on the higher end price-wise, I reserve it as a special treat kind of place for me and my girls :)Edit (June 2019): they recently started the practice of premixing the sugar into their tea for their drinks (giving you no option to change sweetness), and have made all the drinks far too sweet. For that, I had to remove two stars because this practice doesnt make it worth coming back.
This place has amazing boba. It is my favorite in the area. That said, I have issues literally EVERY time I come in here, which is every couple of weeks. Its become a running joke with my boyfriend because of how consistently they mess up our order. They run out of boba often. Typically, we wait around 20 minutes to get our order (its closer to 5 for most places), and last time they just... stopped making out drinks for 10 minutes until I realized they were 4 orders ahead of us and I pointed it out.Ive received the wrong orders before, and my boyfriend found something weird and plasticky in his drink another time. They have taken my discount card without applying the discount. They have missed drinks in our order. It is crazy to me how often there is a mistake, I am overcharged, or I am left waiting for way too long. I really wish they had online ordering and more consistency with their drinks.I love this places drinks, and drive around 20 minutes from another town to get here, but am not going to be making the drive anymore. Its delicious, but completely not worth it.
Miss the old location but still so good!
Wonderful service, amazing teas, drinks! I highly recommend this place!
Love their Thai tea with boba and taro freeze. Always good service and the owner is wonderful.
Locally owned, has a large and unique selection of drinks and add-ins, and this is the first place in the area that Ive noticed cheese foam as an option. This matcha milk tea with boba and cheese foam was great, the perfect sweetness for a dreary day. I look forward to trying their specials, like the Triple Bee Milk Tea. Flan, boba, and grass jelly? Sign me up.
Relaxed atmosphere and chic decor. Good space to chill or study. Lots of drink varieties, you wont be finishing this menu anytime soon. Drinks are tasty and refreshing. Quality ranges from mediocre to excellent, depending on the care taken by the person who makes your drinks. Also love that its not super crowded and noisy all the time like some other boba places. This will likely become my go-to boba place now.
Lots of menu options, cute aesthetic environment, and quick helpful service!
Bad drink would not redo the drink. Overpriced sugar water.
Really busy. Drinks had no ice and were warm. The girls are so busy and stressed that they have attitudes.
One of my favorite boba places ❤️
Great Boba
Their service was really bad. I am sickened at the fact that I went to enjoy their boba and came out with my day ruined. I could’ve easily gone to kung fu tea and gotten a cheaper and better experience. Please rethink visiting this facility. Truly disheartening.
Good shop, clean, with friendly staff fine drinks!
The employees are treated very poorly. The manager is very short and rude when I took too long looking at the menu.
Warning: Fat Bee does NOT give their tips to their employees. I learned that from two employees at their store. The only reason I am not giving a 1 star is because at least the employees get decent pay; however, this is very wrong. Shouldnt the tips go to the workers instead of the business owners??
My daughter wanted to try this place. The kids loved it! Im not a fan. Atmosphere is awesome! They have several sets of Jenga to sit and play while enjoying your drinks. Im sure we will be back, Ill just get my drink in the way.
Cool little coffee and tea shop in downtown Overland Park. Ample and comfortable seating and nice food and drink selection. I got the iced matcha latte and it was lovely without any sweetener. I also had a gluten free pumpkin scone. I love that they had pumpkin out of season! A little gem in KC.
Drinks are amazing and so are the toppings! Never disappointed with the quality. They usually work pretty quickly too.
Great spot for a cool and refreshing drink. This was my 1st visit and I LOVED the passion fruit tea. You will need to make multiple trips there to appreciate and sample their variety. The staff is very helpful so dont hesitate to ask questions.Definitely a place to try and return visit.
I’ve been here many times and theres almost always a problem! And on top of that the manager is extremely impatient and disrespectful to his customers. Never will be coming again!!
Great little spot to get a tasty bubble tea. Easily a new favorite, Id passed it everyday on my way home and finally gave it a try. Its a gem! Love to study/work here as well-great seating layout. Staff is always upbeat and willing to explain any of the menu items without hesitation. Keep up the good work!
Super cute bubble tea shop. Good tea and awesome employees
I almost go to this place twice or thrice every week and mention them to keep “less ice” but i always received 75% ice. 3 star rating is for the taste and varieties.
I have had lots of different types of Teas in Houston especially Thai tea. I was excited to try this new place out since there aren’t many good options for tea shops in Kansas. I thought the tea at this place was just OK, it def could have been made much better! My sister opted for Taro tea and hers tasted nothing like Taro, it just had a very different taste I could not explain. My Thai tea sadly was the same way, it didn’t taste anything like Thai tea.
Very good but disappointed I wanted a Mc Chicken but I realized this wasnt Mc Donalds but what I really wanted was a Mc double cool name just wanted to tell about my Mc donalds experience. Aw wait wrong place but who cares cool name.
Drinks are amazing and theres a variety!
This place is awesome!!! I lived in Singapore for 2.5 years and was adicited to to bubble tea. Since being in Kansas City I have tried and failed to find an authentic bubble tea. I believe Ive tried around 10 places and have yet to find 1 authentic bubble. My search has finally ended. Athena was friendly and made me feel welcome. The owner also greeted me and explained to me how she took a full year to study the Taiwanese bubble tea industry before starting this place. If you want to real deal this is your spot.Order the regular ice milk bubble tea regular Sweetness if you want to taste an authentic Asian bubble tea.
This place used to be phenomenal, but now its super hit or miss. The employees used to be so friendly and kind, and the tea was always perfect, but theyve hired a few new girls lately that are just awful. Three girls I didnt recognize were working last night when I came in and ordered a taro milk tea: the they charged me for a taro lover (more expensive) and gave me some random drink. Not even close to what I ordered, so I asked them to replace it with what I ordered (it was unopened; I could tell it was wrong by the color). They refused because we already made it and you already paid. I asked for the managers contact info, and they refused. Not much I could do, so I took the drink home and tried it, figuring Id like it fine anyway since I like all of their teas and a random drink is better than nothing. It was some concoction of milk and water with no tea in it and taro chunks, and it was totally disgusting. So that was a wash. Came in this morning to buy another drink since I never did get my taro milk, and let the manager or todays employees know how bad my experience was last night, and the same girl was working and gave me a super nasty look, so I just left. Its really sad because I loved their drinks before, but Im not going back again until their service gets better. Im not wasting six bucks a week on inedible boba teas and bad attitudes. Hopefully the management will realize the problem and get some better staff.
I need one of these by my house. No. I dont. The brown sugar boba is for me.
One of the best places to get boba in town! It has a wide variety of selections including, different boba drinks, espressos, teas, and more. The service is relatively fast considering how busy they typically are. It has a nice atmosphere for the small space it has. I would reccomend the Fatbee Milk Tea with Honey Boba, its my favorite they offer! Only thing thats not so great about this place is the prices are a little expensive, but overall worth it. Love this place!
Terrible service. Fat Bee changed ownership and it is very apparent in their policy and customer service. I placed an order for four drinks and two minutes later I realized they put it in wrong after reviewing the ticket they gave me so I informed the cashier it was wrong. I can barely understand him so I asked to speak with the owner or manager. I told manager the order the cashier put in was wrong and she said its too late and cant change my order. Didnt even offer to fix it and continue to talk to me like I didnt know what a milk tea is. I go Fat Bee all the time and its obvious the new management hired people who know how to communicate nor care about customer service. We walked out without taking the drinks, wasting $24.11. #ripoff.

Terrible service. Overcharged. Underwhelmed.
I wish I still lived in OP, but whenever I visit KC, I make a habit to come here as much as I can. I asked for a drink recommendation on my first visit, and Ive been hooked ever since. My favorite is to order the Honey Black Tea Hot (no boba pearls). Its warm, tangy, and super comforting especially in this brutal cold snap.
This place has the best tea Ive had in the Overland Park area so far. I had the Roasted Oolong Tea with 50% sugar and grass jelly, and it was super refreshing on a hot summer day; I went back recently and tried the Okinawa Milk Tea with grass jelly - I got it with 50% sugar but it took away from the flavor, so get it with full sugar if you want the full experience!
Really liked the tea.
