Staff is great and friendly. Management not so much. Currently waiting over an hour to pick up a prescription that was called in 24 hours prior, and it still isnt filled. Priority is Covid vaccinations over prescriptions. With the rush for booster shots, management needs to figure out how to staff the pharmacy so all customers are taken care of in a timely manner.
So I got our covid and flu shots there, the women giving them were amazing with my kids and helped me out so much! Never shopped here, but the staff are awesome.
They push their store as the covid vaccination place but they are horribly disorganized and absolutely unprepared to handle any one trying to get a shot. I made an appointment and when I arrived 5 minutes early there was only 1 person handling the entire pharmacy. So far I have been waiting an hour and this just seems like absolute chaos. Go ANYWHERE else to get your vaccines
We are thankful and applauding Island Drugs efforts early on to get people vaccinated. They have worked hard to launch and restructure the process along the way. We were updated often and felt informed. This has been a challenge for everyone. Thank you for your dedication and spirit of community! Keep up the good work!
Made an appointment weeks in advance to get vaccinated at Island Drug (so I wouldn’t have to do a mass vaccination) and drove to Oak Harbor on my day off. Got lost. (Google sucks sometimes) I tried calling Island Drug multiple times for directions and no one answered. Finally found the pharmacy only to find a sign out front saying the vaccinations weren’t at island drug but at the high school instead. The person working in the pharmacy gave horrible directions to the school so got lost again. When I finally got there, there were HUNDREDS of people in line, wrapped around the building. Now, I’m Island Drug’s email list and I’m constantly getting spam from them. Tried unsubscribing and it didn’t work. Tried emailing them to unsubscribe and it didn’t work. Nobody answers the phone. 100% would not recommend.
I was super nervous based on the reviews but our experience was flawless! Someone greeted you and sent you to the right line. We were spaced out and it moved quickly. Super happy! Got the vaccine I wanted and no issues at all. :-) I did have an appt made online, so maybe that is key!
Thank you so much, Island Drug, for your efficient COVID vaccination program. Even though there were a lot of people at the store, the line progressed quickly, and the pharmacists kept the jabs moving rapidly. You are saving lives, and we are very grateful. Tip: register your insurance card and other info ahead of time as they request and youll get in the short line, and help to vaccinate more people more quickly.
We just got our first virus shot today. They did a great job, very organized. Lot of work for those people, start early and finish late. They are planning to see 900 people today. We are so blessed to have them. Thanks to each of you for all you did. Linda and Bill
This is the worst place to get a hold of anyone either by phone text email any of the ways their message suggests you just have to laugh at excellent customer service that only comes when your at the register handing them money customer service shines through at that time
I take a medication that has different manufacturers. One does not work as well for me. I have talked to them, notes put in my file and once again I was given the wrong medication.I called them several days ago to remind them to make sure they have this in stock and was assured that I will get the right medication. I can’t return it. I am stuck and will not be feeling well for another month. I will now go to Walgreens as they have this brand. I have even asked about talking to the owner to correct this problem and was told I could not get to him.I am a business owner and understand that an employee can hurt a reputation.Knowing this I attempted for months to solve the problem.I tried to shop local but after late refills, no notifications when things are ready, poor communications via telephone and other problems I will no longer do business with them.
My experience with Island Drug is extremely positive. The team is kind and caring. They hold themselves to the highest standards and are a great resource for the community. Highly recommend them!
Island Drug was wonderful. We ended up getting leftover doses here. The staff were helpful, caring and fast! Thank you Island Drug for everything you do.
I am impressed with the perseverance of the staff dealing with all the postponements associated with Covid vaccines. They continue to keep the community up to date and frankly I dont know what the community would do without Island Drug administering the vaccine. Thank you for maintaining your diligence at keeping us informed and safe.
The staff and volunteers distributing the vaccines are incredible and this review is not about them. It’s about the organization and general practices of Island Drug.Island Drug Oak Harbor couldn’t fill regular prescriptions reliably before the pandemic, so I shouldn’t be surprised that they continue to fumble the entire vaccine distribution process. They’re accepting appointments yet there’s just one line so it really doesn’t matter if you make one or not. You have to stand outside, exposed to the elements, closer than 6 feet, with zero information or direction. The phones and texting are completely down and have been for at least the last 3 days according to the Clinton branch who hasn’t been able to reach them and are unsure as to why.
I got my COVID vaccine here and the staff are incredibly well-organized, efficient, and effective. They put up with all the normal retail bs of rude and whiny customers with grace and composure while providing a live-saving service day in and day out. It’s a cute store complete with a small cafe and a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back on my next visit to Oak Harbor whether it’s for a vaccine or something else
I had a different experience than some I guess. I really dont understand the folks complaining about customer service. We showed up, they directed us where to go, we waited a reasonable amount of time. Got our shots, I even made a 5g joke. Overall it was a satisfactory experience.
Their prices are high, but the staff in the pharmacy are excellent. Ive had lots of experiences with pharmacies and find the hometown service of this pharmacy to bring me back every time. I had to get several vaccinations and the service at Island Drug was great. It is clean, big enough and doesnt feel like a hospital. The pharmacists and other workers were really helpful and to tell you the truth I havent been treated this well at a store in a long time. I had to wait a while and was offered a complimentary milkshake. It reminds me of what small, locally owned businesses should be like and what weve lost in most of America. You wont find this level of service at Walgreens or Rite-Aid.
Very organized considering the amount of people that are being seen at any given time. Employees seemed to care about each person as they lined up and got their shots.
This place is terrible. I dont know if its just terrible in COVID times, but I will never be going back and would give 0 stars if possible. The employees were rude, I had an appointment for a specific time, but when you show up they just say get in one of the lines (there were at least 3 different lines outside) and they will get to you when they can. They dont actually have the vaccine you signed up for even though you were able to selected in when you made your appointment. And they had everyone crammed together with no social distance and continued to yell at people to cram together more to make room. Absolutely awful.
My experience at Island Drug centers around the COVID vaccine. This is a new process for citizens in the US. I applaud Island Drug for stepping up during the pandemic to provide this vaccine to the citizens in the surrounding area. The staff did an excellent job of keeping calm and answering questions during a stressful time. Many customers were confused by the process and the staff treated the primarily senior citizen customers with care and respect. Thank you Island Drug!!
Consistently REALLY Bad service. Constantly “lose” prescriptions and say never received. Trying to contact them is a black hole-Phone is NEVER Answered, Voice Mails never returned. They say the best way to contact them for they’re “Excellent Customer Service” is via Text, Email or Phone App. However the same Horrible Customer Service. Texts are never answered, Emails are never answered and the Phone App is unfortunately useless. This Pharmacy is only in business because they have very little competition. It’s so bad that I have started getting Prescriptions off island. I prefer to do business locally, but unfortunately Island Drug makes it impossible.
I have been going to island drug for over 30 years for all my prescriptions, But after today I would tell you different. I recently got new prescription back in August. After them filling it for several months. They decided not to fill it any longer. Now thats not bad or anything. But I have tried to call them, email them, text them, use the automated system and even their app. For over a week I have tried to refill it to no prevail I never got a call back or zero communication. So I went down there to find out why theyre blatantly ignoring me. Comes to find out they stopped filling it due to it costing to much and told me I needed to find another pharmacy. Needless to say I will never go back, its not they dropped the prescription its the fact of them not reaching out and letting me know and then ignoring my requests instead of calling me to let me know.
While we understand the COVID confusion it is disappointing that calls are not answered and text are not responded to in timely manner. Especially considering elderly who must manage transportation or stand in line only to be told to return in row weeks. Further appointments databases are inaccurate. We received first COVID on 1 March and then on 15 March told we had appointment for first shot. When we asked (calling- no answer) and text answered only after we sat in line for 90 minutes to hear there was no appointment.Need to improve communication and responsive for elderly.
Beware....When I took an appointment for Pfizer the description is stating that 1st and 2nd dose Pfizer and 2nd dose moderna only.that’s why i selected this location. After going there they were trying to give moderna.I talked to manager she knows very well about this issue but she lies about description that at age 18 and older for moderna. Lot of people are disappointing about this issue. We drove 4hours to this location.these guys are doing intentionally.I will provide proof here.you can check in the attachment.
Wonderful staff - The line looked long line but it was actually moving super swiftly - the warm energy of the staff was amazing at keeping things flowing with upbeat vibes. Thank you!
Scheduled late February, 2nd vaccination with them in mid January. They changed their rules on 2nd shots at the beginning of February. As of new rules/regulations I was now ineligible. Apparently you are supposed to know this without them telling you? Took the day off and went to LaConner. Called in as they advised. They called back to come in. Why? Lines were super long? Minimal to no signage. Waited over an hour to find out I could not get the vaccination. Not organized and poor communication.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, even when very busy as when administering vaccines.
I drove over 80 miles in each direction to get a vaccine, in my case I got lucky and got Janssen J&J one ... which should be one and done, lets hope.My appointment was at 1056 on 4-8, got in line at 1045 ... looong line, around the building basically a building width and length (on both sides of the rectangle) ... about 40 mins later made it to within 30 ft and got checked in (err verified) and was told my row color (orange in my case) and then another 15 mins later I was in and then another 5-10 mins to the actual distribution desk.Got my shot at 1200 almost exactly, and I was out of the pharmacy by 1220 as you should wait at least 15 mins for any major reactions. The reason I am giving a 4 star instead of 5, is that the folks at Island Drug could be better about communicating BUT:1. they are understaffed, I can see it2. they are working around the clock3. theyre dealing with entitled/unreasonable folks all damn dayso technically in my mind its a 5 star place and this is as unbiased of a review as you can get, first time in that town in almost 20 some years living and visiting WA.so, get in line like everyone else and bring a jacket or two ... its PNW, the weather here doesnt care about what you want or need :)
First of all, it was not a perfect vaccination experience, but it was still extremely well done in most of the important ways. Let me walk you through my experience. I got there 20 minutes early, and saw a line of about 50 people extending out the store. It was hard to get parking because the parking lot is not that big. My wife got in line, and I went looking for an employee because there were no signs indicating what people with appointments should do. It seems to me that everyone in line had an appointment. I found a couple of employees at the entrance to the store. They said to make sure I fill out the form which included known alergies, etc(which I had filled out on prep mod website), and then to get in line. I went to join wife, and talked to the others in line, and they said they were told to text name and anticovid to a phone number which I didnt know about. I tried that, but got no response. They tried that, and others nearby tried that, and got replies to head to the front of the line. So it was kind of confusing from an IT perspective. But that is ok, the line went quickly. Outside there wasnt a lot of room for social distancing, the line was relatively tight. Everyone was masked, and I was double masked, so I felt safe outside. I actually spent very little time inside, and the social distance markers indoors were very adaquate (seemed like 6 feet). I was meanwhile very anxious that I had no confirmation from employees that I was in the right line to get the pfizer vaccine (they offer other vaccines brands as well). Until you are about to get vaccinated, you talk to a person with a computer behind a desk, and they look you up, and give you the vaccine card. Generally speaking I felt lost throughout the process, but the shot was really quick, and once you are inside the store, things move really quickly. Lastly, I didnt want to wait in the store with all of those people, and I think I heard some employees tell people to wait in their car for 15 minutes (although they didnt specifically tell me that). I grabbed my wife, and we walked nearly a block to where our car was parked. Of course, if me or my wife had an anaphalactic reaction, we would have been a block away from the pharamacy. That seems like a problem, right? When we left, I would estimate there were a hundred people in line outside. Anyway, everything was really good, and we were very grateful. I can see how hard they are trying, and everybody was amazing in all of the most important ways. But I definitely felt some lack of communication and chaos.
I read these horrible reviews before coming here and was SO worried that everyone working here would be unnecessarily rude and that they wouldn’t give me the vaccine brand I wanted. As soon as I stepped foot in line, I realized why.For some reason there are a bunch of super entitled people out there who think, “oh no, there’s this huge line and my appointment was 4 minutes ago, god, this place is run so HORRIBLY”. Then proceed complaining to every single person who shows up within earshot, every staff member, etc.Shut up, Mabel! Get a grip, Bernard! This is a global pandemic that has ravaged the literal world for over a year! Chill! Step into reality for a hot second and realize there are other people in the world besides you, people outside of those in the car with you that you drove up in from Seattle! We all had appointments 1, 5, 10, 20 minutes ago and yes, this is a line. No, do not go to the front and ask if this is the line and if you hAvE tO wAiT iN iT even though your appointment is for RiGhT nOw. Get to the back of it and stop complaining.Yes, you will get your vaccine even if you’re late. Unsure if you’ll get your vaccine if you don’t make an appointment, so you REALLY SHOULD. During this online sign-up process you’ll also give them your insurance info. You’ll get a QR code sent to your email after your appointment is confirmed. SHOW THIS QR CODE TO THE GAL IN THE FRONT OF THE LINE, EVERYTHING WILL GO SO SMOOTHLY IF YOU DO THIS.They’re probably not answering all your phone calls because of all the aforementioned reasons—they’re BUSY GETTING THE POPULACE VACCINATED. Stop being so entitled, literally the worst part of my experience at this pharmacy was listening to all the complainers and feeling bad for all the staff who had to be nice to them despite how awfully they were being treated.Yes, that’s right, the staff isn’t mean! Not rude! Won’t treat you badly! I interacted with (1) a woman at the door who was checking everyone’s QR codes to make sure they’ve done what they need to (which is literally just signing up online, where you select an appointment time and give your insurance info) who couldn’t have been friendlier and more outgoing and patient, (2) a man at a laptop who made a copy of my insurance card who was perfectly fine, and (3) the lady who gave me the vaccine who was kind, friendly, funny, and quick! My appointment was yesterday, a Tuesday, for 10:48am. I got in line at 10:40am. I got to the front door at 11:00am. I got my vaccine at 11:18am. YMMV, especially if you’re getting there right before conventional work days tend to end anytime after 3, I can imagine. Weekends, too. So, schedule your appointment accordingly.
This was our experience in 2014When my sister-in-law went to the pharmacy to fill a prescription, the first pharmacist said her provider had turned down the request since the drug was not compatible with a drug previously prescribed by a Dr in CA where they went on vacation. My SIL explained that he was not taking that drug any more, that he was now under the care of his regular primary care physician again. The provider did not budge. She walked away, desperate and disappointed, then decided that we really had to have the drug and to try again. She got a different pharmacist and the gentleman spent a lot of time calling the provider and WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to talk to them and very patiently explained in detail why we had to have the prescription, a powerful pain medicine. He talked them into approving the medicine!!Words cannot describe our gratitude since we were going through a very bad patch at the time (my brother was terminal and died a week later). Sadly I have forgotten the helpful pharmacists name.Bottom line: you want service and compassion and knowledgeable pharmacists, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!
My most sincere gratitude to Island Drug in Oak Harbor & La Conner Wa plus staff for stepping up to provide the nearby communities the Covid19 vaccinations. After observing the on-goings for us in the 1B group, I wasnt so sure they were as glad as most of us were that have received both of our vaccines.I say that in humor since the staff that worked the Covid19 vaccination program were most professional, caring, helpful and understanding.Their courtesy with the public was exemplary. Other nearby large chain drug stores seemed have shied away from this much needed service and protection to the masses. We will certainly channel more of our future business with Island Drug. Once again, thank you Island Drug for the vaccination services you are providing to the nearby communities including Anacortes.
They are working very hard to get as many people vaccinated as they can. Appointments are two minutes apart and while you may not get in exactly at your scheduled time it isnt difficult to be patient when you see how hard they are working.
With so much navigating different websites and locating few places for the COVID vaccine, we were able to book our second dose of COVID vaccine with Island drug for my husband and I in Oak Harbor and our appointment was confirmed for Feb 22nd, 2020 from 1-2 and 2-3 p.m.I have received an e mail to be at their place at 11 a.m on Feb 22nd for our second dose of vaccine. My husband and I drove from Bellevue which is 2 hours drive to Oak harbor to meet our appointment time. When We arrived to the Island drug at 1 p.m. they told me that they are not going to give me the vaccine, because we had our first dose at other placeWhen I asked them to show me that I can not have it with different places they ignored me with no apologyand we had to leave oak harbor with anger and disappointments. This pharmacy is totally disappointing, they don’t answer the phone and they sent you confirmation without knowing any thing about you and your request.I am going to complain to their boards and explain my terrible experience with this pharmacy. They should close their door and let the other responsible and professional serve this community.
Called the pharmacy and was immediately put on hold to listen to their recording of how to use their app and email… 3times over. Then, dropped into a voicemail. Horrible customer service.
Awful customer service. Wont return phone messages, text messages, and leaves you hanging waiting on the phone until youre eventually dropped off.My business goes elsewhere.
Horrible and rude customer service in both the gift shop area and the pharmacy. We can never get anyone to answer the phones or get a return phone call back. Should have looked at the reviews they get, that would have saved a lot of time. After reading so many of the reviews, especially the ones pertaining to the pharmacy, Im concerned if my 78 year old mom will get the covid vaccine properly from them.
In line for second dose. Appointment confirmed but looking at an hour wait in freezing wind. What is the point of an appointment? This drugstore is indifferent to customer service and basically hosting a super spreader event. Never again.
This is my first time using this pharmacy.Ive needed a support brace for my back via prescription and I personally dropped off the slip the same day, 16 Oct.I filled out the insurance forms and verified that they physically had the Item I needed before leaving, so its JUST paperwork that needs to be done on their end.Ive been stopping by and calling and being told that it will be taken care of and they will call me back when its ready. Hopefully by the end of the week.... I hope you dont need it any sooner. Is what theyve just told me this morning.RANT: The staff is friendly, but there should be more to their services. Being explained (by a visibly stressed person) that the computer locks them out if they walk away and that they have to start over should give them enough incentive to notify their co-workers so the whole place works as a team, and not just rely on one person for help. Delegate tasks! Everyone behind this desk has to have a certification at minimum for employment, so shouldnt they have experience on completing tasks with proper time management?Yes, them telling me that theyre short-staffed, very busy and that someone had to leave early is reasonable for a few days, but not nearly two weeks and counting. I feel bad for anyone who is also waiting for their medical devices.
Unfriendly and rude staff. Avoid this place if possible
Bought some hand sanitizer at this place during the middle of COVID. I believe they were charging a 20% increase than what the hand sanitizer goes for online. Pricy. Probably won’t go back.
I was sent here for medicine, first they cant locate the prescription. So I go get it and give it. They tell me itll be ready by 1030. I return and now Im told the pharmacist, all of them had been too busy to compound my medication because there in some meeting with no apparent end time. So no island drug Im not happy nor will recommend you for anything.
Try to get the vaccine and they were so rude
Customer service is not great, called at 1130 AM and was immediately put on hold, I stayed on hold for 1 hr and 15 minutes to have the person finally answer and not listen very well when asking about renting equipment. Person said they dont rent said equipment even though the website says they do. This used to be a great pharmacy it no longer is.
Best pharmacy on the Island! They go above and beyond the call of duty and are a class A pharmacy! Ive been with Island for over 4 years and theyre more than kind and very patient and caring... Even when customers are impatient and crabby. I get upset when I see the staff working so hard and people get upset because of some glitch. Please realize that its not the pharmacies fault! Its most likely your doctors office taking their sweet time, or your insurance... Not the good people at Island! There awesomeness knows no bounds, and They dont deserve the attitude! Island works hard to please! Island Drug also delivers right to your home!
Cute gift shop, but pharmacy allows customers to sit in their car blocking the pickup window while they wait for a medication refill instead of just using it for pickups. I asked about this and they said “well we can’t make people pull over.” Um good to know, thanks. Best to go inside!
Used them since my family moved to Oak Harbor in 82. Never had a problem, except the wait. Sometimes they get so busy you can wait awhile, but what do you expect from a place that serves a lot of people. I can deal with waiting for the excellent services they provide.
Incompetent and passive aggressive pharmacy techs. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. The place hasn’t been the same since it switched locations and that’s an absolute shame because I prefer to shop locally. Hire better pharmacy staff ASAP!
Great staff!
Told 3 different things when I tried to rent a wheelchair, told I could return it in two weeks and get 75 back, then told I could return it in one week and get 100 back or so, finally returned it a day after the week mark, and they charged 150. For 6 days. No one knew what their procedures were and were incredibly rude about the whole thing. I could have just bought a wheel chair. Why even rent??
Nice local pharmacy. Offers lunch bar with sandwiches and milk shakes, local gifts section, and friendly service. The staff has always been helpful. It reminds me of the pharmacy in my home town as a kind.
There are definitely things to like about Island Drug, and Ive been willing to forgive the slow turnaround in getting some of my prescriptions filled, but when they decided to start closing 30 minutes earlier without updating their website schedule or emailing their customers, they lost me. Go elsewhere for consistency and thoughtfulness.
Im never going to this place for any prescription EVER AGAIN.I rarely leave negative reviews on here, but i had such a poor experience with this sham of a pharmacy that I felt compelled to leave a scathing review to warn others who might be inclined to visit this establishment for similar reasons.I was in need of crutches and a scooter for surgery I had done on my foot, I dropped off the prescription on a Thursday. They told me itd take a day to process my insurance. An entire day? Thats pretty absurd, but okay. I warn the technicians that I am having surgery the following Monday, and really need a rush on the prescriptions. Friday comes and goes. I HEAR NOTHING FROM THEM. No phone call on whether or not my insurance has gone through, nada. I call on Saturday--the medical equipment department of the pharmacy isnt even open on the weekends. How convenient! I ask the tech working in the pharmacy to leave a message for them that I am in desperate need of my supplies by Monday. Still no call on Monday, so I ask my boyfriend to call them to find out whats going on. They tell him theyre waiting on authorization from my insurance. Its now Tuesday, havent heard a peep from them, and I went through an actual medical equipment distributor up in Bellingham who is working with my doctors office and insurance with no problems.Moral of the story: Island Drug does not give a damn about their customers, wont even follow up with people who give them ample time to fill prescriptions for something as simple as a set of crutches. Instead of making things easy for their customers, they put all the responsibility and leg work on them, and wont lift a finger to work with insurances. If they cant issue something as simple as crutches and a scooter, I have absolutely no faith that their staff can complete even slightly more complicated tasks. Trust I wont be recommending Island Drug to anyone I know.
Almost everything about this place makes it a wonderful staple in the community. The cafe and gift departments simply cant be topped. The only down side about going here for anything else is that they simply cant seem to be able to have enough people working during busier times to keep things running smoothly. They offer a little of personalized services that take time to complete, and sometimes theres just not enough time. But, if you arent the type whos able to just hang around and wait, they do have delivery service. They also seem to have the flu shot before most other places, including doctors offices
I ordered a refill 4 days ago and got a text that it was not in 3 days ago. It is cancer medicine. I called yesterday. I was told it was ordered and would be in today. I got no text so I called. On hold for 25 minutes. The warehouse doesnt have it and they cant get it I was told. Incredible, just incredible. No one ever notified me. They suggested I call around to other pharmacies so they could transfer the prescription. I called Walgreens. They have it and they were on it! Tom at Walgreens said he would call right away to get the prescription transferred. I will never, ever use Island Drug again.
This pharmacy never seems to have the medication in stock that I need when I go there. Its always on back order or just out. Go to transfer your script else where and wait hours for it to be sent. Really not pleased with the run around. You are a pharmacy, manage your inventory better. Please dont make sick people wait hours in the lobby just to tell them you are out.
Recently gave birth to my first child. Got a prescription for a breast pump and they said they could not fill the prescription because I didnt have the right health plan and this is after they got all the info the needed for it from my doctors office. They also told me they lost the prescription too and would call me when they found it so I can fill it elsewhere. Ive been waiting weeks now. I had talked to my insurance and I have the right health plan to get this filled there. Calling them, I get no answer and the automated system is a joke. They obviously cant be bothered to do their job and would rather lie to your face.
Finally free from this pharmacy after almost a year of being obligated to use their services for a specialty medicine. Every single pickup was wrought with complete and utter incompetence from the staff, system errors, or late deliveries on the medicine. On several occasions I was assured by the staff that an important message pertaining to my treatment would be written down, only for another staff member to tell me there was no recorded message. When they finally canceled my medication they did not notify me that they were no longer getting it until several days after I was due to take it, causing me to miss weeks of treatment as I dealt with finding switching to a new specialty pharmacy. On more than one occasion my medicine that was supposed to be refrigerated was given to me at room temperature, seeming to suggest they had taken it out of the fridge hours or days earlier. I was completely baffled by how a pharmacy could manage to produce a new and unique issue with my treatment every single week, as though they were incapable of simply giving me my medicine on the scheduled date at the scheduled location.
You may have to wait at times for a script. But, thats just because of how many people are using their services. Not fault of the staff. The staff is cheery, happy, pleasant, friendly, helpful and always make me smile. Some customers are upset that the website was not immediately updated. In all fairness, the new hrs were posted on the door for some time before the change. And, ANYONE has the power to do a Google review and suggest an edit to the information, as I just did.
Been struggling with trying to get my C-pap machine for one full month. Multiple times promised a phone call to me or my Dr., I never got called, nor did my Dr. get a call after 5 days. I called my Dr. regarding ongoing problem and they have to call Island Drug. Wife has been promised calls regarding her supplies... yea, no calls from Island Drug. I stood at counter 25 mins while they looked for wife’s supplies. Told them I had to go, call me when you find it, system said it was ready. Again, no phone call after 2 days.Staff is nice, but when you don’t get the calls you’re promised, that is just rude and inconsiderate.
I have never seen such a mess at a pharmacy. After calling for supplies, they said it was ready for pick up. Showed up 45 minutes later and nothing to pick up. Waited in the pharmacy for another 45 minutes and almost every customer stated that they were called about their prescription being ready only to find out it wasnt on order, or havent even been ordered. Watched several senior citizens disappointed because they arranged rides to pick up prescription just to be turned around. Never in my life have I seen such a mess!UPDATE: Left one hour after waiting in the pharmacy without supplied.
The manager there is awesome and sells really good products and is a very giving person, the employees are awesome as well and super helpful, everything there was well priced and well worth it, and the coffee the only thing is the fact that the pharmacy usually has a wait
Great for trinkets. If you want prescriptions plan an hour and bring plenty of patience. You are gonna need it
As a pharmacist I can without a doubt say this is one of the most incompetent places I have ever visited. Their app and text message options do not work. I texted them asking about the status of my RX for Zofran which I desperately needed in a fit of vital gastroenteritis. I gave them my name, DOB and the RX I was inquiring about. They sent me back a text 15 hours later saying Thank you for choosing Island Drug. How helpful! My husband luckily went out for me to get the RX but they only had 5 tablets of the medication (understandable I suppose but given its 8 mg oral tablets of ondansetron thats odd but okay). They never called back to let me know if the remainder of the RX was ready to be picked up. I tried calling but could NEVER get through to them (which is standard protocol here). They have this weird phone tree that Im pretty sure connects all of their pharmacies but for the love of all things holy, please come up with a better system to reach the actual pharmacy that is filling your prescriptions. They have lost my husbands physical prescriptions TWICE (no trace whatsoever.. just gone into the abyss of whatever system is back there). Once okay...I suppose it happens, but TWICE?! Thankfully, they were not the physical RXs he has to have hand written by his specialist in Seattle. No big deal...its just his blood pressure medicine.God have mercy on the poor patients who have more complicated RX regimens. I have no IDEA how in the world they could ever keep up with their fills/refills with the way this place is ran. Hate to say it because I know what a monster retail pharmacy has become to operate in as an independent but I had to move all of our prescriptions to Walgreens (shudder). Would love to say I support a local pharmacy group but I cannot in good faith continue to get medical care from this group.
This place is the worst. On a number of occasions I have been given miss information about Pneumonia shots. Also, I get my CPAP supplies there (wish I didnt) and about every other time, they seem to mess is up. Today I went in to pick up my supplies that I ordered over a week ago, only to find out that they were out of most of my supplies and no one bothered to call me. This is not the first time this has happened. They are really screwed up!
If I could put a negative score, I would.Ive been trying so hard to stick with Island Drug. Ive been using them for a few years. I have NEVER had a prescription ready on time. They confused my insurance and double charged me for a prescription, and then said they had no record of it so they couldnt refund anything. They confused my allergy medicine SO badly last month, I had to return FOUR TIMES and they still just couldnt find itToday I visited their store three times. Each time they asked for my phone number because they couldnt find it. Each time they said, itll be ready later and when I said, okay so when? they said hopefully later today I was told I would have a phone call and some answers before they closed. I received no phonecall. This is a pharmacy handling very important prescriptions and they cant even follow through with a phonecall?
Island Drug has a good selection of local gift items.
To slow to be any good. Dropped off a script on th 1st. They said it was ready to be mailed on the 5th. Yet here we are on the 15th and I still have nothing. Now Ive called more than one time and both times. I was put on hold so they could check somthing just to wait 10 or so minutes to hang up. One time I understand but two times are you joking me. Just answer the question. God damn! Screw this place so inconvenient. Totally earned the 2 star review they have now.
This place has no knowledgable workers! tried to rent a scooter for my leg and they could even answer basic questions!😒
The telephone answering service is the worst. You just get redirected in circles and no one answers the phone no matter which department you go to. My primary care provider and insurance has approved my medical equipment on multiple occasions and the staff keeps telling me that the can see the refferal, but do not have approval. I dont know how anyone can run a business like this and survive, these people are terrible to deal with.
In November 2018 I ordered CPAP supplies and I was given everything but my headgear. The CPAP Technician said that she would order my head gear and it should be there in a couple of days. I called 3 days later and I was told that it had not come to the store yet. I waited an entire week and went into the pharmacy myself. I asked if my headgear was there and after about 10 mins waiting I was told that it had not arrived yet.I decided to use another pharmacy located off island. After speaking with the NEW CPAP technician at my new pharmacy She said my headgear would be on its way the next day. She brought something else to my attention, she told me that My MEDICARE had not been billed by Island Drug. I dont know why because in the first week of November I personally went into Island drug and the pharmacist made a copy of my MEDICARE card for billing purposed. I dont know how Island Drug received the BEST OF WHIDBEY award with this substandard service.
This drug store has many unique buys. Everyone is very nice.
Been using them for over forty years and have been satisfied for over 40 years.
Everytime I come here to pick up medicine they never have it together . A business is a reflection on how the staff runs it. Needs some work ..
Im sorry but I call to get my meds filled because Im sick and they didnt ansewer there phone and when I get here its not ready. So I wait. I keep saying I should move my meds to Safeway I think I am.
Horrible service. Rude staff. Took 15 min to just pick-up a prescription that was called in three days in advance.
My experience with this pharmacy is not worthy of one star Im sorry but you have finally lost my business and your drive up is pathetically inadequate.
NOT RECOMMENDED!Im not sure what happened, but the pharmacy has gone downhill, with alacrity. Several of the assistant pharmacists are very kind, but theyre unfortunately unqualified to handle the workload that they have unloaded on them.. or so it would seem anyway. The justification for 1 ⭐ review follows. As Google Guide, I do NOT issue this poor of a review without experiencing seriously negligent, dangerous, or questionable business practices:I have severe medical complications that require a laundry list of medications and prescriptions. Ive bounced back and forth between the only two serviceable pharmacies on Whidbey, Island Drug & Safeway Pharmacy. Island Drug has, on several occasions, refused to answer their phones. It used to be a running joke that they turned then off 15 minutes before closing.. but lately it has been MUCH worse. Sometimes they wont answer for days on end. This happened to me for the last time this week. Their reckless and irresponsible lack of communication, and their failure to admit that they have severe turnover issues leaving to unreliable shift scheduling, led to me being without my antidepressant, for 60 hours. Im this is a medication that has severe side effects when its discontinued suddenly. IT TOOK TWO DAYS, AND A CALL TO SOUTH WHIDBEYS STORE TO GET MY RX FILLED. It was disgusting to discover that they were there and CHOOSING to ignore their phone: they answered within 30 seconds of their other pharmacy calling, with me on hold. Somebody needs to be fired..Thats pretty egregious.. by the time I was able to get my medication, I was immobilized. I couldnt walk, and u was vomiting. It will take 5 fill days to completely recover from the vertigo, nausea, anxiety, cold sweats, and short/fast acting seizures that result from sudden discontinuation. And I will be in agony for weeks, slowly recovering from the damage done to the disintegrating bones in my body during the seizures. Another joyous effect of my many genetic shortcomings.. This Ive the result Degenerative Disc Disease and Arthritis. So, use them at your own risk. God forbid I needed heart medication or something. Somebody could be killed by this level of negligence. Ive shared deeply personal info on this review. Something I dont do often. But this was a crucial review. It could save somebody a LOT of suffering. As it stands, Im currently waiting on the Director of Operations to call be back. I will keep this post updated.
The prices on some drugs are better here than at other big-name pharmacies in town. Island drug needs to work on their turn around time on prescriptions
I find Island to be friendly and efficient but the containers the pills come in are impossible for me to open, very frustrating.
I just found this pharmacy and wow, there is no better place to get medication and shop. I just started getting my personal medication here and they have what I believe to be the best prices on their medication on Whidbey. I really love this pharmacy for many reasons. First, the staff is so amazing, very helpful and so kind/caring. But surprised me is that they also work with veterinarians. I came in close to closing-time, as my dog started having seizures today and I was pretty desperate to medication for her. I was pretty upset and they took such great care of me. They were very empathetic with my situation. I dealt with the Fernando, and he was fantastic. He really went above and beyond for me in trying to get my prescription fixed and he spent a lot of time and was very diligent in helping me until I got what I needed for my dog. No only was he compassionate and helpful, but very knowledgeable. At that moment, I really needed someone to help me and his kindness was just an added bonus. I just started coming here, but I will always be grateful to this pharmacy and they have a lifelong customer in me. Oh, did I mention, they also have the absolute cutest and unique gifts in their eclectic gift-shop, as well as this really cool cafe inside the pharmacy so you can buy something yummy while you wait for your meds. This is my first review I have written on Google. I usually do not give reviews, but with the quality service and product they have provided to me so far, I felt compelled to write something great about them. Thats the least I could do for this place. If I could give more stars, I would. Thank you Island Drug!! :)
Clean. Good selection of local gift items.
Called 4 times to pharmacy and NEVER spoke to anyone. Called the gift store, 3 times and FINALLY spoke to someone. Ended up not having what I was looking for. Probably didnt know what it was exactly I was looking for.
