Paul is a great and honest mechanic. Ive been going there for years and highly recommend them!
Terrible customer service and rude employees. Quoted one price then charged another when I tried to pick it up!!! Would never recommend!!
Paul always does the work right. Hes always busy and can rarely work on my car the same day I drop it. But hes honest and does great work. Thats probably the reason why he always has a backlog of work.
Very precise and transparent about the problem of your vehicle. Love this place and price..
Best shop in Norfolk. Professional and fast. Fixed a complicated problem with my vehicle for a reasonable price. Highly recommend.
I have been bringing both my personal vehicles and the office cars to Ottacam and Paul for nearly 10 years. Attentive, thorough and transparent about what is wrong, he cuts through a lot of the BS and gives you the straight story... though sometimes he may come off as brusk its all in the service of getting you in and out and getting back to work.
When I returned to my hometown of Norfolk last year I asked my cousin who she used to maintain her car. She referred me to Paul who has been taking excellent care of her for decades. He has helped me out of some tight spots a number of times with my vehicle and has always been very accommodating and does excellent work! He is direct, straightforward, and completely honest which is hard to find these days. In addition to doing great work he does so at reasonable prices! For me, who lives downtown, his location in Orapax aka Chelsea is perfect. I can drop off my van, walk home and back again on the Elizabeth River Trail which in itself is a treat! We would not think of going anyplace else!!!
Paul is thorough and honest when it comes to what needs to be done with your car. If you read other reviews talking about how long it may take for the work to get done just know that it is a small shop and they work as fast as they can. It is worth the wait, though. I will definitely be taking my business here from now on.
I usually never leave a one star but with this place, people needs to know. The owner has a terrible attitude towards customers. Argues about how busy they are... so if you are that busy, does that make me less valuable customer?Update, after having enough I told the guy to give me my car back (state inspection) he tells me yeah shortly, and this guys whispers loud enough saying yeah right youre gonna stand there all day. Pretty much whispering saying hell delay on working on my car. Then hour and half passes. Nothing is done. I walk over to my car on the lift to check whats going on, he then aggressively kicks me out of the lot saying you own this place??, so I then call the police because he still had my car in the shop. While Im on the phone call with the police station he pulls out my car knowing that I was calling the police station. While pulling out of my car, he then tries to hit me with my own car while pulling it out. Wow. Im amazedTo the owner,I understand you have frustration because your shop is busy or you are short of a staff, but you never physically try to fight a customer or get literally half an inch away from my face where I can smell your stinky breathe, threatning to kill me. I assume you treated others like this and got away but I hope this comment makes other people stay away from here to save time, money & energy.
Amazing service everytime.
This guy was unbelievably rude to me this morning when I brought my car in this morning for a repair that I had called in about two days ago. When I got there he greeted me by asking in an agrivated tone what I was doing there. When I described our conversation over phone he snapped, Do you see all the cars in the lot!? They parked over night. And all the cars across the street?! Those are mine too.Business seems to overwhelm this guy, but one should never take that out on customers. I know this first hand being a nurse. I wont be taking my 20 year old car here even though I live two blocks away and he assessed the car previously for $100. He was kind of a jerk that time too. Two thumbs down. 👎
Update MARCH 2018 -Paul and his crew continue to be the most helpful mechanics. They identified a VERY expensive issue with the PCV system in my engine and not only advised me to go to the Chevy dealer to get it fixed because it shouldve been under warranty, Paul did two days worth of research when RK Chevrolet insisted my vehicle was not under warranty and refused to find the root cause of the issue in my engine (as Paul and his team did). Paul took the time to teach me about what I need to look for in my car and help me fight the good fight with a very shady dealer. I cant thank him enough for his patience and for being so trustworthy.***************************************Love this place. Honest and trustworthy. I’ve been multiple times to get my car inspected. I also went when my battery decided to leak acid all over my car. The Ottacam crew cleaned it up and replaced my battery for a very fair price. On my most recent trip, my driver’s side door wasn’t closing properly. He quickly fixed it free of charge. Very generous and wonderful service.
If you live in the area bring your car here, theyre honest and reliable. The last thing West Ghent needs is another brewery, so please support a real working class business in the neighborhood.
Ive known Paul since he opened in the 1980s. He has always be honest reliable and proven over and over he is a man of integrity who loves what he does.
Brought my vehicle in for a simple oil change and was given an approximate wait time of 2 hours. After two days without my vehicle I began to get frustrated and when I spoke wth the owner for help he was rude and unhelpful. I would never recommend this business to anyone else.
The best place to take your car for professional repairs and services.
Owner can seem unfriendly, but hes a really busy mechanic not a customer service rep. Hes the most trustworthy and honest mechanic I have ever dealt with in my life. You cant go wrong with this guy unless you have thin skin.
Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. The entire staff was rude from top to bottom. Safe to say I will be finding somewhere else to get my car serviced
Ive been going here for a few years now. I usually just drop off my car (Jeep Wrangler) for inspections and other miscellaneous maintenance and Ive never had a problem. I dont feel like Im getting ripped off. I noticed some reviews complaining about the guy being rude, but Ive never felt that way. Show some patience for the guy and he will fix everything for a fair price. Theres nothing more to ask for in a mechanic, I could care less how his communication skills are.
These guys are great! Paul is the most honest mechanic Ive been to. These people on here saying he doesnt have communication skills are actually the ones who dont have the skill. Everyones a challenge to connect with and everyones a bit different. If the guy is short with you its because hes slammed. Its not personal. You dont get that busy by running a dishonest business. Hell get you taken care of and its worth the wait.
We have been taking both of our cars here since moving to Norfolk. Customer service has always been good and Ive never felt that they were trying to sell me something I didnt need.
I dropped my car off on a Thursday for a state inspection. I didnt hear from the shop until Wednesday, when the mechanic told me he was failing my car because the windshield wipers were shot (i bought new wipers two months earlier, so i knew this was BS). I brought it back, and waited a week for him to reinspect my car and attempt to charge me $200 to replace my front brakes, change my transmission gasket, and a list of other things totaling over $500. Besides being a crook, he was down right RUDE. Id rather chew glass than go back to him.
Horrible service! The mechanics here were extremely rude. I would not bother walking into their doors ever again.
Honest, Dependable Auto Repair
No free estimates and roughly $100 more than anyone else around doing a wheel hub assembly.
Very good people
